Beautiful day in South Florida. Great day for a whipping of the Oakland Raiders.
Crypt keeper Al Davis reportedly emerged from his coffin this week and ordered coach Tom Cable to take the offensive play-calling duties from Greg Knapp. So today, the guy who opened the season as Oakland's offensive line coach is now the offensive line coach ... and the offensive play-caller ... and the head coach.
For the Dolphins the biggest concern today is Chad Pennington's sore foot. He is expected to start and, barring an in-game aggravation of his injury, he should finish.
But I wonder if this game against a struggling Oakland team wouldn't be the perfect scenario for Chad Henne to get playing time if Miami is comfortably ahead today?
Anyway, the live blog starts in the comments section at kickoff. Come strong!

If we lose today Mando, I will blame you for jinxing us. Please let us not play to the level of our competition yet again. Go Fins!

FIRE IT UP BOYS! .. road to the playoffs
Posted by: CanadianPhinFan | November 16, 2008 at 10:20 AM
I am with Mike in Houston. Mando is talking smack like Steve Spurrier in the 1990's in Gainesville.
Last week, he rip Holgrem and then all of sudden the guy starts play calling the game of the decade.

is there any info where chad has that sore foot from ?
Posted by: Alex | November 16, 2008 at 10:26 AM
First REAL post on today's blog!!
I agree with possible Henne time. He should have had enough feet-wetting time in the past 10+ weeks, and he needs the baptism at some point.
I am very, very nervous about this enigmatic foot injury, though. When you hear something like this out of the blue and without detail, it is usually serious and long-lasting. Surely the staff doesn't want to tip their hand, but by giving no information at all, that's exactly what they are doing.
Posted by: George | November 16, 2008 at 10:28 AM
Totally agree with playing Henne today, Armando. I'd start him and rest Pennington for Patriots next week. we really need that one... While not a gimme you gotta love the direction the dolphins are heading. they will roll on em quick no doubt. They are playing with so much momentum and angst. I hope penningtons mobility doesn't hurt us though...
Posted by: beerphin | November 16, 2008 at 10:30 AM
the site i was on says chad IS probable today, i hope so, i don't think henne is ready for the animal raiders. they play like fools, they try to hurt people, just like their fans.

Henne would be fine... he is a tough motha I'd love to see him get experience against these losers
Posted by: | November 16, 2008 at 10:40 AM
People are WAY 2 confident today. Wow, playing Henne because it will be a blow out. You guys are asking for trouble or A TON of disappointment.
Go win a game...
Posted by: Hayden Fox | November 16, 2008 at 10:45 AM
Many coaches here would start Henne. But no one post came from Tony Sparano !
What team are you coaching ?

This will be a day in which our Dolphins will see their 3rd straight home win and 4th consecutive victory.
Today's win will feature a big rushing performance, including 2 TD's from Ronnie Brown against the Raiders porous run defense.
The passing game will feature Greg Camarillo and Anthony Fasano underneath against poor safties as well as one in experienced corner.
Miami will also get a score on defense when Jason Allen returns a errant Jamarcus Russell pass for a TD.
Joey Porter records 2 sacks harassing Oakland's QB all day.
Final Score: Oakland 17 - Miami 31.
Dolphins cover 10 1/2 point spread and move to 6-4 (2nd in AFC East).

I like Henne, and believe he will be a great QB in this league, but i think we are in a good poistion to make the playoff (you kidding me playoffs!!!. jim mora). We cant afford to lose this type of game. I cant wait til next week when we host the Pats. Lets beat Oakland, Ronnie will have a big game.
Posted by: McLovin | November 16, 2008 at 11:17 AM
Give Henne a game.
Our D should give up few points to the Raiders. We score 10 we should be in it.
We may need Henne down the line and the experience will do him good.

Beef Sez"YO GETTERDONE R U AND MANDO NOT LISTENING TO THE BEEFSTER ? PLEASE CHECK OUT THE COWBOYS,THEY 2 WERE SUPER BOWL BOUND 4 WEEKS AGO AND OVER CONFIDENT, NOW GO CHECK AND MAKE SURE MANDO CHANGED BIG AL'S DIAPERS U TO NEED 2 KNOW UR ROLE ."

Pennington has proven his Manhood.
There is no controversy.
We all complained about him, me the most.
Frankly I'd rather have a mediocre game from Henne today and Pennington at his best for the rest of the season than a nagging foot injury that drags on and on because we didn't rest him.
Foot injuries turn into knee injuries when you play on them.
Posted by: Master | November 16, 2008 at 11:24 AM
Armando, you think this would be a good week to get Henne some playing time? Do you realize where the Dolphins are at and where they could be with a win today?
How about 6-4 and in 2nd place in the AFC East. They would jump New England because they beat them head to head and they have a better division (2-1) and conference (5-3) record. In fact the Phins would have the same conference record as the Jets. The Jets are 3-1 in the division and they have the edge because they beat the Phins week one. This game puts us that much closer to having a shot at winning the division.
Yeah great week to get the rookie QB some playing time.
That said, I understand if Pennington's foot injury hampers him and he can't play, we'll see Henne in there, but that's not what we want to see.

Guys...stuck at work today, so help your people out as I know you will! I'm all for giving Henne the 4th quarter as long as we've got the game secured...unlike with Beck, I've got confidence in this one.
Posted by: Mike in Houston | November 16, 2008 at 11:41 AM
I'm having a hard time understanding where all of this confidence and cockiness is coming from. Wasn't it OUR Miami Dolphins who struggled to beat a pretty bad Seahawks team last week? I hope the players aren't going into this game thinking like the fans and writers or we're in for a long day. Seriously, they aren't so good yet that anyone should be talking about an easy win. Haven't we learned that by now? The people talking about how the Dolphins are going to dominate the Raiders are the same people who will be berating the team if they lose. Lets try to display some quiet confidence until we actually have something to be cocky about.
Posted by: | November 16, 2008 at 11:50 AM
11:50 was me. Mando do you have any idea why it doesn't post your name even after you sign in? Half of the time I sign in and post the name doesn't get posted.
Posted by: Account Deleted | November 16, 2008 at 11:52 AM
The Dolphins "comfortably ahead"? Have you WATCHED the Dolphins this season?! With the exception of the Patriots game, we haven't been "comfortable" against anybody.
I would like to see Henne in this game if it means that Pennington is fresh for next week, when we should really need him.

The Beef Sez"MANDO TELL UR BOY TED GINN THE BEEFSTERS EXPECTING BIG #S FROM HIM AND TELL THE REST OF THE GINN FAMILY ON THE SIDE LINES ,THE BEEFSTER SEZ THEY TOO R ALSO EXPECTED TO PRODUCE TOO WITH THERE CLIP BOARDS."

Doesn't everybody know that whoever the Fins play, play their best?
I promise you that by the end of the game we will not be discussing if Henne should play based on a Miami blow out. The only Henne discussion will be if Pennington is too hurt to play.

Why does ESPN have their fanasty information AFTER most leagues have to have the rosters set?
So stupid.
Posted by: Hayden Fox | November 16, 2008 at 12:13 PM
I'm with those on the side of caution.Whipping...comfortably ahead...please!!!! The Fins are better but not so good that they are a lock to get by Oakland if their heads aren't in this game. This type of game scares me...I hope the Fish come ready to play.....ONE GAME AT A TIME!!! On any given Sunday.....
Go Fins!!!
