A new list of doubters begins to shadow Miami

Count ESPN pundit Trent Dilfer the first of what promises to be a long list of pundits who don't think the Dolphin can continue their amazing season next Sunday.

Dilfer, the former Baltimore, Tampa, and other points in the NFL quarterback, just picked the Ravens to beat Miami in the playoff game between the teams next Sunday.

"The Baltimore Ravens defense is portable," Dilfer said. "They can stop anybody, anywhere, anytime."

You should not be surprised. I would not be surprised if the Ravens become the popular pick of the so-called experts the coming week. I would not be surprised if no one picks the Dolphins because the Ray Lewis love is rampant among national media members.

Then again, I don't remember too many of those people picking the Dolphis before they turned a 1-15 nightmare into an 11-5 dream. So whatever.

An opinion is like a navel. Everyone has one.

Dilfer has dogged the Dolphins all season. Whatever. Merrill Hodge has been generally on board all along. Whatever...they are ex-players turned analysts. Frankly, the Ravens probably should be favored.

Anyway, this team EMBRACES the underdog role and the ANTI-hype.

What I want to know Armando is what you think Henning will do to counter Jalen Parmele's input regarding our offense?

If I wasn't a security analyst, I would really write some better columns than you Armando. I think your a Jets fan. Your always writing negative articles. Why don't you wake up and get your head out of that cold dark place someday. Do you ever have a clue or write something good about the Dolphins. I think you should go back to school to learn to be a columnist. Enough said.

Vegas isn't picking Miami either. Although I have to admit I am VERY suprised that Baltimore is only a 3 point favorite. That is the absolute minimum they could make the Ravens. I expect it will go up to around 5 by game time. But you are right, NOBODY will pick Miami

Arms, you must not watch alot of espn, I don't blame you. Anyway, Dilfer has picked against Miami for weeks. I agree, I doubt anyone picks Miami. By the way, Miami didn't have Ferguson or Soliai in that game.

mando, all I can say is WOW!I'm really not sure I'm awake and sober.Guess it will all sink in this week, probably when I'm watching penn state win 50-0.Hey,I now can say anything is possible,go state and go phins I BELIVE!!!!!

Dilfer is the epitome of an jerk-off, two days ago he was talking trash and saying the "he expects the Jets to take care of business" but alas, he's just another dumbass pretending his opinion is educated...

forget dilfer

a nobody who hasn't earn anything should not be allowed to comment.......................

WE SHALL BE LED TO THE SUPER BOWL......................

Who cares about Dilfer? He was an avergae QB at best.

FEEDBACK OUT HERE IN LOS ANGELES OVER DOLPHINS W IS SURPRISING

WATCHED DILFER COMMENTS ON ESPN..... DOESN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO SAY BUT TO HATE

JUST FINISHED WATCHING THE LAKERS GET ANOTHER w

GO DOLPHINS & I'M OUT PEACE!!!!!!!!

GO DOLPHINS & I'M OUT PEACE!!!!!!!!

who cares what penis-head thinks.

Where is CM?Come on I know your readin

I don't have a navel.

One word for Diler....rogaine !!!

Advice...more makeup, the shine is blinding

Dilfer picks against the Dolphins every week. He is probably the worst quarterback ever to win a Super Bowl. After the game he was acting like "Of course the Dolphins would win!" even though he picked against them and said that he would pick Farve if he could choose a QB in that game.

That being said, I am picking the Ravens too... but God I hope I am wrong...

Yeah, I saw the Dilfer "analysis" too...

And many people have said it already, Dilfer's never believed in this Dolphins team. He has picked against the Dolphins every single time he's been asked to voice his opinion on TV. Honestly, I think he roots against the Dolphins solely to fulfill his dismissive and uneducated initial assumptions of what the '08 Fins were capable of.

Charlie G, you bring up a good point...but with a rookie RB that was 3rd string at best, I'm not sure he knows the in's and out's of Henning's offense, especially when most of his time was on the practice squad.

Regardless, we need to be ready for Baltimore and there's no other team I'd rather play. Not simply because they're the 6 seed, but because I hate Cam Cameron. I actually feel that Joey Porter, Holiday, and Co. were completely justified in their defensiveness (pun TOTALLY intended) towards Cam's remarks over the talent of the '07 Dolphins.

Ray Lewis may be insane and one of the best LBs in NFL history.
Joe Flaco may be the (2nd) best rookie QB in regards to performance.
McGahee and McClain may be running down field effectively.
Ed Reed may be the best safety (edging out ol' 43 in Pittsburgh) in the NFL.

But there's plenty of reason to believe this Miami team will pull of another victory.
We're at home, we've been terrific in Dolphin Stadium and I hope that it continues.
Additionally, Pennington's methodological drives are awesome and are his surgical precision of defenses always happen when the pressures on.
Ronnie and Ricky look healthy and live, Cobbs is a great surprise too...
Ginn seems to be stepping it up, hopefully this schizophrenic performances will end now and establish some consistency.

All in all, who gives a damned what these analysts are saying. We've been over looked, under rated, and disregarded. Now is our time to shine. Here is where we not only demand respect, but take it. Honestly, would you feel safe if the "experts" projected a Dolphin victory?
I almost broke out into a cold sweat when MOST (not to contradict you too much, Mando) ESPNers projected a Dolphin victory this week in the Meadowlands.

Let the discipline of Sparano take over...
Let our boys prove themselves...
Trust in our offense to punch it in when it counts and our D to step up when necessary.

Go Fins...

Not sure where your coming up with the Dilfer information but everytime I've seen him he has been singing the dolphin praises. So has Tom Jackson of espn. As espected, Berman could only bring himself to give some luke warm praise. Anyway, Baltimore IS very formidable and it will be a tough game but this Miami team can beat anyone if they play thier game.

Remember Joe Flacco is a rookie Qb going in his first playoff game in an unfriendly territory,, against perhaps the nfl mvp Chad Pennington.... The Ravens are going to try to run the football and go for ball control offense... if we can stop the run on first and second down we can expose joe flacco for what he is,,, A rookie QB!!!

Yeah, yeah...and Dilfer said that the Jets would be the Phins too.......................

Don't worry Mando, we'll make believers out of 'em yet. I did think it was a nice touch that CBS showed a long, lingering shot of former Dolphin Bowens writhing on the turf in agony in the waning moments of our Championship victory, after earlier in the game Bowens took a cheap head/neck shot on Dave Martin. So go ahead jets, you can all writhe for all the off season.
Now its time to stand up and send cam and co. home and stop harbaugh from talking dynasty. Joey needs to show up and get this flacco kid on the turf.

I own the Cuban Menace.

Thats why he isnt posting anything today. He isnt allowed.

PanCanFinFan,

He picked the 49ers over the Dolphins...
He picked the Dolphins to lose against the Jets this week...
He picked the Pats to win the division while jockeying for Cassel to make the Pro Bowl...
I'm also pretty sure he had the Chiefs knocking us off too.

I have yet to hear Dilfer say a positive thing about the Fins all year. Though I'm no armchair QB glued to the tube, I think I'm right here. Do you know who Trent Dilfer is? (That's not supposed to be offensive, just a question to clarify your post)

However, I think you're right. We may be over exaggerating how much ESPN doesn't give us the credit we deserve. Since week 10, besides week 12's game against the Past, ESPN's foremost experts picked us to win, some weeks even unanimously.

I think the problem is that we're not getting the love. Only after careful approximation are we carefully and hesitantly at times, given the predicted "W." I think the real indicator for respect levels is in the power rankings.
Both ESPN and SI have given us damned poor rankings that we didn't deserve. People simply don't want to put our logo too high and make a statement. How many weeks were we behind the Pats AND Jets?
Too many...

Now there's several wanting to put us in the bottom of the AFC playoff race. We just gotta sock it too 'em.

The only thing Dilfer picks more
then teams against Miami is loose
hair off his pillow.

The Elias Sports Bureau is reporting that Brett Favre has just thrown another interception.

I think I have this figured out. There are a number of former QB's that trash the Dolphins on a regular basis. Just off the top of my head there is Trent Dilfer. The game today was called by Phil Simms who whined and moaned and as the JETS lost. Boomer Esiason hates the Dolphins as well.I think they all are still bitching from the beatings they took from Dan and Miami in the past. All three of them need to chant over and over again......Goooosssss Frabbbaaaaaa

Ravens fan here, but congrats to the Dolphins for their division championship. Always had a somewhat soft spot in my heart for the Dolphins, going back before the AFL-NFL merger.

That said, Flacco might surprise the Miami fans. He began training camp as the expected third string QB, but due to fluke events, he started the season as the starting QB, a role that was not even threatened from that point on.

He has improved massively since the week 7 meeting with the Dolphins. And, Flacco's QB ratings are higher on the road than at home.

It should be a good game, but I expect the Raven's defense to be on it's game, and the Dolphins will see a much, much more mature and experienced QB in Flacco than you might think, especially if your opinion is based solely on the week 7 view you had of him.

Who cares if some talking head ex qb that couldn't throw a pass doesn't like us? There were 10 million new yorkers and about 5 million new englanders that hate us right now. We won and the game is played on the field not in an ESPN jock talk show.

Baltimore will bring a huge challenge to us. A very tough defense. Flacco is a very good qb and the backs burned Dallas in the 4th quarter a couple of weeks ago. This game is going to get physical, real physical. Penne is going to have to be on his a game. Our guys are going to have to gang tackle everything that runs and catches. Baltimore is a tough team; a lot tougher than the wets. Bring the A game boys. We need it again. Baltimore will not quit.

Mando--you are correct sir. What really ticks me off is that after picking the Jets to beat the Fins in yesterday's game, Dilfer (like other TV pundits) is not called upon to explain why his pick was inaccurate. You News/Blog/Radio dudes are constantly confronted with your past predictions. Dilfer has joined Lou Holtz on my list of ESPNers I cannot listent to.

PS: TO FIREMAN ED. The Jets superfan and chant initiator. YOU CAN KISS OUR COLLECTIVE DOLFANS B-U-T-S, BUTS, BUTS, BUTS!!!!!!!

Hey, Mando, I guess you can officially start saying that your prediction about our record last year was REALLY about THIS year.lol. I predicted between 5-9 wins this year, with the outside chance at 10, if we overachieved in our division. We won many games I expected us to lose, and lost a couple I expected us to win, but all in all, I am quite pleasantly surprised. I was truly expecting closer to 5, than to 9, let alone 11. I love how many of the guys here are knocking Dilfer's ability as a QB, when our QB is Penny.lol. Not knocking Penny, just those who don't see a game managing leader to be a good qb when he knocks us, while rooting for a game managing leader in our own huddle. I say disagree with him all you like, just don't down his skills as a qb. Knock his analysis, and his worth as an analyst, but not as a QB. The ravens would have had a shot at AT LEAST one more SB had they not tried to upgrade him.

Isn't Dilfer the same guy who got dropped right after a SB victory........?

Wonder if he predicted THAT.

Hey pancanfinfan,
"Not sure where your coming up with the Dilfer information..." He's said it on a show called Sportscenter, which is on a 24 hr sports network that they call ESPN.

By the way, after watching the pre-season I predicted 10 wins for the Dolphins. I'm sorry I shortchanged them.

Who cares? The Dolphins have been picked as the underdogs most of the season. It is now put up or shut up time. Winning the AFC East title just shows that ANYTHING is possible. You just have to believe...

Mrs McNabb got up early to work on cookin up some Campbell's® Chunky™ Steak & Potato Soup—(It's a good source of lean protein...) for all you Dolphins fans so you can deal wit these idiots all week. Let 'em doubt us , Mama McNabb likes us bein under the radar.

Trent Dilfer is a pointy little pinhead who doesn't know S*** from a popsicle. He picked the Jets last week- and he didn't eat crow very well last night, did he? Portable defense is the new buzzword at ESPN (where the corporate suits allow no creativity, critical thought or stepping "outside the lines" if you get what Mamas cooking... In the same broadcast, Tom Jackson said 'portable defense' in talking about how the Ravens were his pick, too. Gee where do you think that came from?
To his credit Tom called the Dolphins the story of the NFL this year, but Dilfer's eyes are set too close together from inbreeding for me ever to like him. Not to mention, he looks like he might a been at a Klan meeting. When asked about the distractions for Pennington returning to NY, he talked about how he himself returned to Tampa Bay with Baltimore for his Super Bowl and how despite all the distractions he just tried to be the best teamate he could be yada yada, and made it all about Trent Dilfer. He is an insecure little man who need some of Mama's soup but you know what? He ain't gittin none. He be alright though cause he can fill up on crow next Sunday.

Wow... I'm still floating!!! Berman is the one who gets on my nerves. He'll pick any team over the Dolphins. But what really makes me want to throw something at the tube is the way he says, "DOLL-fins." He's a jackass.

Berman sucks, Dilfer sucks, Ravens suck

ROLL DOLPHINS!

85% of the betting public were on the Cowboys yesterday. Majority of the "experts" too.

Know what that means?

ALWAYS take the other side of the majority.

That said, the Ravens are a scary scary team playing great ball. This is gonna be a rough one.

GO DOLPHINS!

C'mon guys, let's be honest. Dolphins WERE an unbelievable story this year. NOBODY thought we'd win the division. Baltimore is a pretty good team. They have that incredible defense and an offense that HAS improved dramatically (thanks to Cam's scheme). Don't get me wrong, I'm a Dolfan through and through, I'm picking MIAMI to win this game. But we have to play a much better game than we did against the Jets to win (because Baltimore is a much better team). Do we have it in us, YES! My prediction, Miami 20, Baltimore 17.

Who cares about Dilfer?

It's easier to be critical than correct.

3 games to go! Thats all I have to say.

Now, I want you to remember that no b@st@rd ever won a war by dying for his team. He won it by making the other poor dumb b@st@rd die for his team. Men, all this stuff you’ve heard about Dolphins not wanting to fight, wanting to stay out of the game, is a lot of horse dung. Dolphins traditionally love to fight. All real Dolphins love the sting of battle. When you were kids, you all admired the champion marble shooter, the fastest runner, the big league ball player, the toughest boxer. Dolphins love a winner and will not tolerate a loser. Dolphins play to win all the time. I wouldn’t give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That’s why Dolphins have never lost and will never lose a game. Because the very thought of losing is hateful to Dolphins.

Now, the Miami Dolphins are a team. It lives, eats, sleeps, fights as a team. This individuality stuff is a bunch of crap. The bilious b@st@rds who wrote that stuff about individuality for the Saturday Evening Post don’t know anything more about real battle than they do about fornicating.

We have the finest food and equipment, the best spirit and the best men in the world. You know, by God I actually pity those poor b@st@rds we’re going up against. By God, I do. We’re not just going to shoot the b@st@rds, we’re going to cut out their living guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We’re going to murder those lousy Raven b@st@rds by the bushel.

Now, some of you boys, I know, are wondering whether or not you'll chicken out under fire. Don't worry about it. I can assure you that you will all do your duty. The Ravens are the enemy. Wade into them. Spill their blood. Shoot them in the belly. When you put your hand into a bunch of goo that a moment before was your best friend's face, you'll know what to do.

Now there’s another thing I want you to remember. I don’t want to get any messages saying that we are holding our position. We’re not holding anything. Let the Raven do that. We are advancing constantly and we’re not interested in holding onto anything except the enemy. We're going to hold onto him by the nose and we're going to kick him in the ass. We're going to kick the hell out of him all the time and we're gonna go through him like crap through a goose.

There’s one thing that you men will be able to say when you get back home. And you may thank God for it. Thirty years from now when you’re sitting around your fireside with your grandson on your knee and he asks you what did you do in the great World War II, you won’t have to say, "Well, I shoveled s*** in Louisiana."

Alright now, you sons-of-bs, you know how I feel. Oh, and I will be proud to lead you wonderful guys into battle – anytime, anywhere.

That’s all.

Oh one other thing. Dolphanforlife,
Its 4 games to go not three. Lets get this right. One at a time though.

At ease men. Smoke 'em if you got 'em and I'll see you all tomorrow at 0500 sharp. Dismissed.

Bottom line, those so called analysts do know and not may gave the dolphins love. I truly believe we are a different team than the first time we played the Ravens. I know we will play much better, and hopefully our defense can get to Flacco causing some mistakes. I like our chances, and truthfully i rather play the ravens than the unprdeciatble Patriots. Anyways, what a great year and the chapter has not been closed yet. We win this game we are headed to Pittsburgh. Go Phins!

We just gotta get after Flacco, Porter has to pretend he is on an episode of OZ and he needs to make Flacco is "girlfriend" on sunday

General Parcells is right. What? Ravens? Did you say 'Ravens'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now! 'Cause when the going gets tough…the tough get going! Who's with me? Let's go!…What the f happened to the Dolphins I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts? Huh? This could be the greatest week of our lives, but you're going to let it be the worst. 'Oh, we're afraid to go with you, Bluto. We might get in trouble.' Well, just kiss my @ss from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this! Ray Lewis? He's a dead man. Ed Reed? Dead! FLACCO…!?"

Bluto's right.
Psychotic...
but absolutely right.
We got to take these Raven b@st@rds.
We could fight them
with conventional weapons.
That could take years...
cost millions of lives.
In this case...
I think we have to go all out.
I think this situation absolutely requires...
a really futile and stupid gesture...
be done on somebody's part.
We're just the guys to do it.
Let's do it.
Let's do it!
Go! Go! Go!

Its not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.

Bluto-
the Japs bombed Pearl Harbor.

LETS GO PHINS I GOT MY PLAYOFF TICKETS

The right to swing my fist ends where the other man's nose begins.

I have been a "Dolfan" since the day the team first stepped on the field, way back in 1966. I'd love to see them go all the way, but alas, they won't; not this year. This is a good team. However, it is still a few players away from being an "upper echelon" team. We still need an impact receiver, another pass rusher and a couple of DB's who can make plays in the secondary. That said, by next year, with the right "moves" in the off season, the Fins may well be ready to challenge for supremacy in the AFC.
I'd love to see a win against the Ravens, but am not expecting it.
Go Fins!

Mangini just got himself fired.

Trent wears too much makeup.. It is rotting into his brain

Lance- talk about a Buzz Kill

The secondary has been making plays. if we can get pressure on Flacco we have a good chance of doing something.
Good or not he is still a rookie out there, and we have to remind him of that.
We held the Jets to under 100 yards rushing and got 3 picks one for a T.D. Ginn stepped up and delivered with 2 huge catches. Fasano is a stud at tide end.
Obviously you can always get better, but heydont count us out. plus if we get passed the Ravens were probably looking at the steelers with a dinged up big ben. This is our year. chad said it, its fate.
