Live blog of Dolphins at KC Chiefs today

Why are you folks sweating today's game against Kansas City? Don't you know it's 8 degrees out there?

Seriously, don't you know the Chiefs have lost 21 of their last 23 games, meaning they find a way to screw things up no matter how hard they try and how hard they work?

Don't you know the Chiefs are about to bring a close on coach Herman Edwards' days in KC? This ESPN report details how KC ownership is in the early stages of a general manager search and already a guy Edwards would love to have hired is out of the running. That means Edwards' chances of keeping his job, with one year remaining on his contract, are not excellent.

And that means the Dolphins, who have already played four teams -- Oakland, St. Louis, San Francisco, and Seattle -- whose teams have changed coaches or are about to change coaches, can add a fifth team to that list today.

[Major side note prediction: The Jets are at Seattle today in what is Mike Holmgren's final home game. He will be coaching against his old QB Brett Favre. I am predicting the Jets, who spent four hours on the runway Friday waiting for a storm to pass before heading on their five-hour flight to the Northwest, are going to LOSE to the 'Hawks today.]

Anyway, today's game is at 1 p.m. eastern. I will inform you quick as I can whether Channing Crowder is playing (it doesn't look good) or not. [Update: Crowder is inactive so he's out.]

The LIVE BLOG begins at kickoff in the comments section. Isn't this what you've waited all week for?

Mando would u re-sign crowder?

Mando, any good latino resturants Up there?

Mando talks smack like the Miami Hurricanes from teh 1980's.

He always says things are going to be a cake walk and by the end of the game we all of gray hair.

He is trying to set the Fins up.

i have a funny feeling the pats and jets are losing today!

Mando talks smack everyweek like the Miami Hurricanes of the 1980's. All that happens are close games that give us white hair.

All Mando is trying to do is set the Fins up.

i also thought the cowboys would win last night though, so what do i know!

Need 35-40 carries and 150+ yds from the R&R Express this afternoon. Miami's play this year (no turnovers, short passing game, a defense that fights & claws on every play) is perfectly suited for today's game in the North Pole. We win and the dream lives on...

Mando - Why doesn't anyone chastise Ronnie Brown for not falling down at the end of that Texan game? With 1:24 on the clock he should've taken a knee a la Westbrook. That way we run the clock down to nothing (kick the winning FG) and never give the Texans a chance to mount their victory drive!? Then 1st place would be all ours. Is the extra TD worth the loss of the game and possibly the division???

I would re-sign Crowder but at MY price not HIS price. Big difference.

Also, Hayden, I talk smack every week and the Dolphins have won seven of eight games ... What's wrong with that?

Yo Palin, Why You Bringing up something that happened 2 months ago. Why dont you teach your youngest daughter about birth control before you have another unwanted grand child.

national weather service website said wind chill factor between -6 and -17.

i was thinking the same thing about crowder Armando. And i'd still look for a replacement next year. He is ok but maybe we can find better.

Menace---what will it take for you to realize that Mando is HERE (MIA), not THERE! You're losing your street cred by your persistent missing-the-clues. Unless you're asking Mando if there are any good Cuban restaurants "up there" in NoMiaBch/Miami Gardens, near the 790 studios.

Palin--the quintessential second-guess stupidity of the season. You don't pass up an open end zone (after years of being trained & conditioned to fight to score), and you don't assume that your defense is going to whiff on three or four fourth downs as Houston marches the length of the field, and then assume that your defense will abandon the middle of the field as Schaub waltzes in on a 4th down last play of the game draw. Yeah, let's "chastize: Brown for scoring a go-ahead & what should have been game winning TD. Genius.

Next?

Phil, don't know about better but cheaper for sure.

Menace, I'm in So. fla today. By the way, if you guys want to talk, I'm on the radio right now. 790theticket.com. call toll free 1-888-790-3776.

Brrrrrs., Yo Mando , Is Cote with you guys up there?. thats perfect weather for cote, his Haggen- Daz wont melt in that weather.

anyone know where is the game stream online??

This game is going to SO MUCH harder than anyone thinks nationally or how you stated things, Mando.

I wonder how dousing footballs in ice can really get a team ready for these conditions.

Moe And Mando, My Bad.

menace--no biggie. BTW, the jets game make actually be more affected by bad weather than the Fins/KC; looks like snow/freezing rain for the Jets.

Every team that's competing for a spot in the playoffs this season has a good storyline. The Ravens and the Falcons have had big turnarounds with rookie qb's at the helm. The jets took there chances with the living legend. But I'll stick w/ the fins who were 1-15 last season, in the off season did a gut job to the coaching staff and front office and didn't have a qb until 3 weeks before the opening game of the season. this team has been about overachieving and executing.

Jets fans attacking me on the radio show now. I said they're losing today and they're angry. No dolphins fans coming strong in response. Sad.

I don't know why us dolphin fans do this to ourselves every year! We get all excited , teased that our team will make the playoffs or win a playoff game and they disappoint as they have since the early 80's when I started being a finatic. I have holes in my doors and walls, broken housewares, ripped shirts and disfigured knuckles to remind me how year after year the Dolphins choke in big games. Why will this year be any different? Too many things have gone right and they are due for a huge letdown. Two cold weather away games equals 2 losses. No touchdowns or turnovers of late will mean we allow 3 or 4 today and turn the ball over 3 times at least. It is just fate or karma as I have learned to live with over the years.
Until they prove me wrong I will settle for a good season and a 9 and 7 record.

Stay humble, Mando.

I've been a Dolfan since 1986 and I'm going to the game today. I usually go to the home opener in Miami, so this will be my second game this year. I'm a big time chiefs hater. Just wanted to say hey to all the Finfans out there, it's miserable out here, but if we can win it's all worth it. We are due...last win in KC was 1981. My prediction Miami 10, KC 7. See you all at the home opener next year!

Can ask everyone a question? How the heck did Ronnie Brown make the Pro Bowl?

it's a tip of the hat to the wildcat, nothing more.

I'm not worried about how good/bad the chiefs are gonna play.
I'm worried 'bout how miami is gonna play vs the weather.
I expect us to run the ball a lot, dominate the time clock and pressure on Thigpen.
Channing Crowder ain't playing today.
Armando, what type of contract you think Yeremiah Bell will get in the offseason.

You fin fans want the jets to win today to set up an all or nothing next sunday? what are your thoughts?

It doesn't matter what the Jets do. We have to win. They lose and we win and we still have to win one more. They win and we win we still have to win. Winning out is the only option.
We are gonna win today.

Jets are gonna lose.

Bell is going to want to clean up because this would be his first, possibly his last chance to score megabucks. I'm thinking Drew Rosenhaus, his agent, will be looking for a $4 million a year avg. There will have to be $10 million plus in guarantees.

And I would definitely not let Bell go if I'm Miami.

Saw Interveiw with Romo, he didnt seem to upset with the loss. Then again taking off to cancun with jessica is a nice backup plan.

If Bell wants that money, they should let him walk. He is not that good.

Everyone knows the Jets game has no relevance on the Dolphins playoff chances, regardless of whether the Dolphins win or lose today correct? If the Dolphins lose today its New England that we need to lose one of their next two to get in, not the Jets. We would just need to beat the Jets ourselves.

Hayden, Bell is not that good? Are you for real? That guy is the best player in the secondary and the second best player on the defense this year. He's not that good? Amazing.

Jets fans better than anyone know how much the Jets suck in the west coast. Especially under pressure. That's why they are angry, Mando. You're stirring up the ghosts of losses past. I can see Favre throwing 4 pick sixes today.

Yo Anyone , whats the fins record in temps below 30 degrees?

Mando...you are amazing. First of all, we overrate how good this guy is. Secondly, he has an injury history. Third of all, 4 million for a safety is ridiculous. Safety is not a priority position.

I'd take Kerry Rhodes who is UFA over Bell if I were to pay 4 million.

Let's see how your boy does in coverage versus Tony Gonzalez today. Just because he is our best does not mean he is worth that kind of cash.

Today will be the coldest game in Dolphins history. It is 9 degrees (sunny) right now in KC. The coldest game in Miami history is 14 at NE in Dec. 1997.

The Dolphins are 3-7 in their 10 coldest games.

But seriously folks, it's not about cold. It's about the wind. Today blowing 18 MPH.

14 above at the Patsies.

Jinx you owe me a soda

Armando, let the Jets fans call in and complain, that is all that they are used to doing as the worst team in NFL history. I mean if the Fins went out and spent millions on OLD players that are close to retiring and I came to a realization that the future of the franchise is null I would complain as well. This game will be a good cold weather test for the Fins going into the Meadowlands next week. There are alot of players that are used to the cold weather on the team now anyways. Lets say the Jets lose today and the Fins win, what would the playoff picture look like asuming the Pats win as well?

Good update Mando...is it swirling or blowing a particular direction.

Hopefully we can get the running game gowing and chewing up some yards.I expect Pennington to go to his short game at the right time and have enough success throwing the ball to allow Miami to win the game.10-5 would be a beautiful thing.

Does anyone else get frustrated that we do not try to pound the ball more with R&R? Or when its 3rd and 7 and the receivers do not know where the first down marker is and Chad ends up throw a 3 yrd dump pass? Trust me I am glad we are winning, just some things I see as the game unfolds.

Crowded is overated. Dump him at the end of the year and pick up someone better. I'm sure we can find one.

ncfinsfan33: The Pats cannot get in the playoffs by winning out. They need help from Miami (losing) and Jets (losing) at some point.

If the Dolphins win out, they win the division and the Pats are pretty much out of the playoffs because they need too many scenarios to occur for them to get in as a wildcard.

ncfan, you can input every possible possibility and see what the playoff picture looks like with the yahoo scenario generator.

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/playoffscenario

Thanks Armando, I got confused bc one of the reporters on last nights Dallas/Ravens game said that the Pats controlled their own destiny and I did not know if I missed anything.

Channing Crowder is out per NFL network.. Anyone coming up for the Panthers and Fins game next year?

Channing Crowder is inactive today.

Ted Ginns Stats Today. 1 catch for 6 yards, 1 run for minus 7 yds, 2 droped catchs...oh snap that was last week, and you wonder why chad doesnt throw to him.

any chance of Anquan Boldin next year?

or one of the three FA linebackers from the Ravens?

I Will Say This Though, Fins Are 7 And 1 In There Last 8 Games Tops In The Nfl. Along With Pitt , Indy, Caroling. Good job fins.

Why do I have a feeling this is going to be a ridiculously close game...

Guess Torbor will replace Crowder. He is used to playing in this type of weather playing for the Giants & did play in that Green Bay playoff game in that icebox earler this year. Plug him in & step it up. LETS WIN FINS!!!!!

The fins play to the level of the team that they are playing. So yes this will be a close game. They will have drives that walk them right down the field to score and then get conservative until a drive at the end. Is that just play calling or adjustments on defense?

My newborn babyphinfan says GO DOLPHINS!!!!

If Pats win out, they can take the Ravens spot next week if they lose. So that's also a possibility. Won't affect the Miami/Jets outcome

Ever wonder why you never see Phil Simms And Boomer Esiason In The Same Place?
