The Miami Dolphins completed the most amazing, improbable, astounding, unexpected, truly magical worst to first climb in NFL history today. They defeated and deflated the New York Jets, 24-17, at Giants Stadium.
Bring on the Baltimore Ravens!
This game means the Dolphins are the AFC East champs. This result means the Dolphins will host the Ravens either Saturday or Sunday at Dolphin Stadium.
It is the first time Miami is in the playoffs since the 2001 season. They lost to the Ravens 20-3 in that last playoff game so long ago. The Dolphins also lost to the Ravens earlier this year. 27-13.
There is no player who deserves this more than quarterback Chad Pennington. He returns to New York, to play the team that discarded him before the season started, and sends them into their offseason.
Pennington threw two touchdown passes this game. He fumbled once. He had no interceptions.
OK, so what do you think about this fanciful turn of events?
And what do you think about the upcoming matchup against Baltimore?

yes, yes, yes!!!!!

Fox, your problem is you're an egg head. Football is a game of passion. We won today. We play next week. We were 1-15 last year. I want to win next week like all finfans, but if we don't this season was still a fantastic success, among the greatest in the teams history. Such a turnaround is phenomenal, stupendous, incredible. So stop being an egg head and let us enjoy all this.

if u can that is...maybe you are just excited???

How ironic that Sham Cameron returns to Miami to face the 'Fins in the playoffs.
Posted by: Jason Odell | December 28, 2008 at 07:28 PM
I'm worried about the Ravens, but, somehow we keep winning
Posted by: Marc | December 28, 2008 at 07:28 PM
What a game. Pennington gets the game ball. Completely balanced and in control.

Posted by: | December 28, 2008 at 07:31 PM
who cares about the ravens...really the season is an outstanding turn around...be satisfied with that and take any more wins as a special surprise!!! Chad has his best season and burns the wets down...favre is done again...at least until preseason next year...and we beat the ravens last year so the p[ressure is on them...
Posted by: kkrazyt85 | December 28, 2008 at 07:31 PM
Its 1:30am here in Germany. I'm cracking the next beer!!!!
Posted by: Dolfan abroad | December 28, 2008 at 07:31 PM
A perfect script. Beat the Jets in their building, expose Favre for what he is, and keep the Pats out of the playoffs even though they have 11 wins. Let the celebration begin in Miami and the whining begin in New York and New England.
Posted by: CT_Phinfan | December 28, 2008 at 07:31 PM
Last year I moved to England and right now I I wish I were back in South Florida. This is a magical season, and come what may the Dolphins have regained pride, respectablity and identity.
The Ravens are beatable, though they pose the greatest challenge for the Dolphins yet this season.
Keep the magic rolling!

nice to see that clown neon deon sanders eat crow on tv after he picked the pats to win the AFC east and showed the Fins no respect all year.

I think it's time for all the critics to shut-up about the Dolphins! They have proven themselves more than anyone could have imagined a year ago!!
Posted by: | December 28, 2008 at 07:33 PM
Tough for me as a New England fan to see the Patriots out of it, but congratulations to the Dolphins for a great season!
Posted by: Rafe | December 28, 2008 at 07:33 PM
The opportunities were there in plenty. When we capitalize on those Wildcat chances, we will put up 40 on the Ravens!!!!

Go Dolphins!! All I hoped for this season was that they wouldn't embarass us again. OMG, the playoffs!! We beat the Ravens last year, hopefully we can do it again. A blow out game would have been wonderful but I am so happy with this win. And to knock the Patriots out of the playoffs was icing on the cake.

Congrats Fins; finally able to beat the Jets. Had a great feeling about today's game with interception prone Brett at the helm. Brett should have retired awhile back, but greed and ego got the best of him. Good thing for NY; greedy bastards, go home, whine and think what money will buy next year. Go Fins, Baltimore and former Miami hoomie Ray Lewis next.
