Huizenga: Bill Parcells is going to stay

Wayne Huizenga may have left Dolphin Stadium as majority owner of the Dolphins for the last time this afternoon, but before exiting he revealed some news Miami fans will likely welcome.

Huizenga said Bill Parcells is coming back next year.

"Bill is going to stay," Huizenga said. "He told me the day before yesterday he was going to stay."

I also spoke with incoming owner Stephen Ross who indicated he expects Parcells to stay.

IM PROUD THE WAY MY DOLPHINS PLAYED ALL YEAR,AND I APPRECIATE THE WAY PENNINGTON PLAYED ALL YEAR, BUT HE IS NOT THE QB TO TAKE US TO THE SUPERBOWL AS WE ALL SAW HIS ARM IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH FOR THE BIG THROWS THAT ARE NEEDED TO BEAT D.B'S OF COURSE HE IS SMART AND CAN MOVE THE TEAM ON DECENT DEFENSES, BUT WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO THE BIG DOGS THAT GO TO THE POSTSEASON THATS WHERE WE'RE GOING TO HURT I THINK HE COULD BE AN EXCELLENT MENTOR TO HENNE WHICH HAS THE BIG ARM AND IS A SMART QB TOO. I HOPE THAT HE GETS A CHANCE NEXT YEAR IN CAMP AND LET HIM COMPETE FOR THE JOB, BESIDES ALL THE DISASTERS IN THIS GAME, I ENJOYED THE SEASON LIKE I NEVER EXPECTED, IM SURE WITH SOME GOOD DRAFT PICKS AND FREE AGENCY WE WILL ACCOMPLISH A GOOD WIDEOUT AND A DOMINENT PHYSICAL D.B.,AND A COUPLE OF L.B , NOW I ALSO KNOW THAT NEXT YEARS SCHEDULE IS GOING TO BE MUCH HARDER THAN THIS YEARS.BUT ONE THING I KNOW IS WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO PLAY WITH THE BEST, ALL OF OUR PLAYERS GO INTO NEXT SEASON WITH A WINNING ATTITUDE AND KNOW THAT THEY ARE THE EAST CHAMPS OF 08!GO DOLPHINS!

Geez that's sad. A Jets fan is so happy the Dolphins lost that he has completely lost his mind while trying to come up with (3 posts in a row) Miami's record for next year. The pathetic mess is so focused on our Dolphins that he didn't hear the news about Favre retiring and the coach being fired. He must have also forgot that the Jets spent so much money this year that they will have very little to compete with in offers to free agents which means they will basically have the same team as this season, minus Favre. But don't fret Jets fans I hear Garcia will be available and if that doesn't work out theirs always Kelly Clemmons. The Dolphins will improve in 09' and the Jets will continue to dissapoint their fans. The Dolphins have good space under the cap for key free agents, THE TUNA and Ireland in charge of the draft, and a good core of young players. The Jets have no coach, no QB, Tannenbaum in charge of the draft, and a bunch of aging vets to round out a super bust of a first round pick (Gholston hahahaha). Good luck in 09' Jets fan, you're sure going to need it.

Just a comment on the wildcat and other offensive formations....I noticed several times throughout the game that when a player in the wildcat would go in motion and be a decoy for another player, they never blocked. If Ricky Williams gets a fake up the middle and Ronnie gets the ball behind him and runs slightly to the right of Ricky's path, Ricky should block the DE/DT that tackles Ronnie for a minimal gain/loss. I saw this at least four times and couldn't figure out why it was drawn up that way.

What happened to my post about the 09 Jets? It was there and now it's gone wtf?

And now it's back, goodnight.

I too wouldn't be surprised if the Dolphins finished with a worse record next year because of the schedule, though not much worse. I don't see them finishing worse than 9-7 and if it makes any sense, I still think they will become better as a team despite a worse record. By 2010, they could be 12-4 or better.

NEXT YEAR RECORD 3/13

BY 2018,THEY COULD BE 7/9

BY 2023 5-11

I was at the game today, just like every home game this season including pre-season, and I focused my binoculars on Ray Lewis. I have to tell you I don't see what the fuss us about, he is old, slow, fat and weak. I think he does it with mirrors because I did not see him do anything today. Talk about over-rated!

He may have been something in his youth, but not anymore. That said, I was disappointed in our offense today, but I am thrilled at what we have accomplished and yes I will be renewing my season tickets again.

I just wish we would have concentrated more on running right at fat man Lewis today, it was fun watching him get his lard-ass pancaked.

Fellow fin fans, all it takes is one bad bounce especially during the playoff to make thing interesting. Way too many today but all i can say is afc east champs. go fish, rebuild, and good luck!!!!! Pats SUCK!!

I WOKE UP THIS MORNIG PROUD, I'M GOING TO BED PROUD! END OF STORY. WE'LL GET BETTER AND NEXT YEAR OUR 11-5 OR 12-4 WILL MEAN A LOT MORE. I HAVE NO REASON TO BELIEVE THAT WE WONT GET BETTER, YOUGER AND STRONGER! I LOVE ALL MY REAL DOLFANS AND the cuban menace where ever he may be! ITS BEEN A GREAT YEAR AND WE HAD ALOT TO BE PROUD OF!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ITS ALL ABOUT GETTING PLAYERS IN HERE !!!!!! BE PROUD BUT NOT SATISFIED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Feadshipman,

The key to his sucess is his young beast of a nose tackle that plays behind the line of scrimmage. The same way Tim Bowens did which allowed Zachto hit rb's instead of ot's like Crowder does. Furgeson is good at "filling the hole" but we need a youg guy or vet like Haynsworth that plays behind the line of scrimmage. Thats my 2 cents...lol

Go Phins!

In 2009,we play the AFC South and NFC South. Our other opponents are the Steelers in Miami and the Chargers in San Diego. So we won't be exacting revenge on the Ravens.Today's game was hard to watch because of the way it happened. After finishing the regular season with 13 turnovers and only 7 picks for Pennington, then to see him be picked 4 times today...it stung big time.It would have been great to beat the Ravens after almost every know-it all analysts picked us to lose. It's too bad we couldn't win because it wasn't all Pennington's fault.Players dropped passes, fumbled, and on defense we gave up too many big plays. It's a wonder the score wasn't worst than 27-9.But I haven't given up;I am proud of the 2008 season. I hope we make the playoffs in '09.And ADVANCE.I have never witnessed a Dolphins playoff game that made it past the first round.Prior to 2001's loss to the Ravens,we lost to the Jags in'99, I think.Anyway,I'm sorry we lost, but I am picking the Titans next week. And good luck to the Fins next year.

Ah well, some times you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't. Been a great season, hated to end it this way. But things are looking up. Another draft, more free agents, more tinkering by the Parcell's crowd. Get bigger, stronger and faster, that's what today taught us. I think Bill and the boys can handle that. Another year, a better team. Looking forward to 2009, I don't care how challenging the schedule looks. Things are getting better. Go fins!

I am worried about the Carl Peterson rumors. I have no faith in him...

BIG TUNA RULES!!!
Great news Armando, this is the only thing I really wanted to hear!!!
THANK YOU ALL!!!
It was a great season and hopefully, next one will be even better!!!
Arturo (Qro, Mx)

Thank you Dolphins!!! It was wonderful once again. Reach the Superbowl next year, win it in 2011.

The reason why we lost falls on Chad,, the offensive line, and Ted Ginn fumbling that reverse. Our D kept us in the game and the game would have gone to the wire if we would have scored points. We need to hit free agency strong and sign some guards and wide receivers, and draft a nose tackle, Linebackers, big cornerback... I wish we would have used the wildcat more and pass out of it instead of just two plays and give up on it

I didn't feel the sting i usually feel after losses. That's because this season, even though it ended in defeat, was a MAJOR success!! I am not satisfied and am looking forward to next year.

Great news!! to know that The Tuna is coming back!

I wouldn't presume to know what the upgrades should be. But I do know that I finally have faith in the front office and the coaching staff!

As for you Armando, thanks for all the updates and knowledge you drop. Great season.

It feels disappointing now but when I think about it there are 3 major points that make me feel better. 1. The biggest turn around in NFL history. 2. Knocked the Patriots out of the playoffs. 3. Faced the Jets in week 17 at the Meadowlands for the division title and beat the crap out of them to the point where thier coach was fired. No one can EVER take that away. WE have the last laugh.haha b!$*hes!!

I have had season tix for the last 2 years and I drive 3 1/2 hours each way to every game. Thank you Dolphins and coaches for a great season and making it well worth it! See you next year.

Congrats to the Fins on a great season. I hope we can get a defense like the Ravens though. Maybe Parcells can help out with that. Remember it took Parcells a couple years to get a team to the Super Bowl. Don't stop believing Fins fans! I think we can really run the table next year! 19-0!!!!!

WE MUST SWITCH TO HENNE!

I give Pennington a ton of credit for helping the fish return to respectability this year but can we all agree he's still the QB we mocked when he was in NY.

Lack of mobility and the inability to put any zip what so ever will never win in the post season.

Flacco proved that you don't need to be the most accurate but you do need to keep a D honest and respect the deep ball other wise the what's the point of having speed guys like Ginn and Bess. Ball hawks just sit on their 'intermediate' routes and shut them down or pick them off.

Penny's 10 to 15 yard...bombs...play right into the heart of D's like Baltimore or Pitt and he can't put up enough quick strike deep TD's to keep pace with teams like Indy.

Henne may not get us into the post season next year but we need to get him and his big arm into the game.

great season dolphin fans , its been fun. will pop in once in a while to raze you guys... dont take anything i say personal guys.. and that means you marc..

Dear Mr. Parcells/Ireland,

1. get a true #1 WR, Ginn is not that. Ginn and bess are both pretty good #2 WR's. And please do it through free agency. An unproven WR out of college is too much of a gamble(see Detroit).

2. Satele must be replaced. Not big enough to play the elite DL's. Hopefully D. Thomas will be back and healthy but we also need to add depth to the OL.

3. Add a stud MLB. Crowder disappears for way too many plays and rarely if ever creates an impact play(INT, sack or huge hit). Please trade up to get Maualua...please!

4. Get some ball hawks.**See Ed Reed.

5. Another sack artist. Roth did OK this year but doesn't have the quicks to get to the QB. And gets exposed in coverage...maybe put him ILB.

6. START HENNE. Acknowledge Pennington's deficiencies and don't allow your hubris to think his game will ever change. He'll get his wins in the regular season but can't get in done in the post season.

Thanks, and great job so far.

....GREAT 2008..........

LET'S KEEP IT UP IN 2009.

MAKE SOME CHANGES HERE AND THERE
AND LET'S GO GET THEM AGAIN.

THANKS TO ALL

LET'S GO DOLPHINS

Damned fine season !!

Great year ! As a fan I am excited for the future for a change because of the direction we're headed. Marked improvement in all areas for sure. I previously mentioned a while back that in 09 we will hardly recognise the team because many more changes yet to come regardless thank you for giving Dolphan fans a great year and team to hinge our hopes on. Forever Aqua Orange

way to go fins well be back in 09 go dolphins

PEOPLE NEED TO GET OFF GINN'S CASE.. ITS HIS SECOND SEASONNNNN!! HE HAS BETTER NUMBERS THAN STEVE SMITH IN HIS FIRST TWO SEASON.. HE HAS SHOWN FLASHES OF HIS ABILITY.. GIVE THE KID TIME.. HE'S GONNA BE A STAR IN THIS LEAGUE

Hey Armando whats up with the rumors on this Peterson guy coming in regardless of weather Parcells stays or not..

There has to be more news to the Parcells staying story. If he walks away and plays golf/bets the ponies for the next three years he collects 9 million bucks from the Phins. Do you think he's going to work as VP for the next three years and collect that same money? He's not stupid. He's going to take the 9 million and exercise his option to leave and I'm guessing there's already a deal in principle for a new Phins contract.

The Dolphins did the near impossible this year. Only one other team in NFL history ever improved year over year as much as this Dolphins team has.

Man, it has been a great ride.

Bill Parcells and his crew are responsible, along with the players who remained and were brought in, willing to be coached by a team of professionals.

The TV commentators wanted to say that Cam Cameron was "vindicated" by the Ravens' win. Well, fine. But he was still a bonehead loser here, let go some of the best talent we had, misused the rest. Maybe he *can* cook up a winning scheme, but he has to be told which players will run that scheme on the field.

I am happy as I can be about this year's Dolphins. And still pissed about Saben and Cameron. What was Wayne thinking>
