Well, do you want the good news or the bad news first?
The good news is the last time the Dolphins played Baltimore, way back in October, the Ravens held a 17-3 lead on Miami to open the third quarter.
So the Dolphins have made up some ground in the past two months or so.
The bad news? Well, they're still losing at halftime today. The Dolphins trail Baltimore 13-3 going into the third quarter.
It has been a nightmare half for Chad Pennington. Pennington has thrown TWO interceptions today while completing only 7 of 12 passes for 77 yards. One of those interceptions was returned 64 yards for a TD by Ed Reed. That is Baltimore's only touchdown of the day so far.
Terrible.
Oh, there is more bad news: Receiver Davone Bess has a thumb injury and missed most of the second quarter. So the Dolphins, which started the day with only three active receivers, are down to two.
Colleague David J. Neal tells me the Dolphins have gone 12 consecutive postseason quarters without a touchdown.
Anyway, the live blog continues in the comments section below.

ITS OVER FOLKS
see you next year

our o needs to block
our dbs need to play closer man to man
better play calling
spread the ball to the TEs
more pressure on FLacco
we' ve held them to 49 yds on 15 carries
the pass is killing us from a rookie

LOL go hang yourself already you clown!!!

The Fins came back from a 10-point deficit against Baltimore last year. And remember, the Ravens' offensive coordinator is the dumbest coach in football.
Posted by: Rico Tubbs | January 04, 2009 at 02:36 PM
RUSH THE QB and Block for our QB! It's simple! Lets go FINS!!!
Posted by: azfin | January 04, 2009 at 02:37 PM
Again, your colleague is spouting useless drivel. What does the past 100 years ago and not scoring a TD have to do with this team, these players, these coaches, or this front office? NOTHING! So what. How about what we've done in this game, which is hold the offense to 6 points and give the Ravens two gift-wrapped INTs. Chad has gone away from what got him here, which is to play conservative and be patient. Simple really. Don't throw either of those balls and punt if necessary.

Posted by: JR | January 04, 2009 at 02:38 PM
if you think the ravens were fired up at the beginning wait til them come out of teh locker room. Miami HAS to have a great return on the KO and long sustained drive for a TD get the momentum back
Posted by: Mike W | January 04, 2009 at 02:38 PM
Reed's and Flacco's Teabags are right on. Welcome to the NFL postseason, girls.
Just like deja vu from 2001.
You guys blow.
Once again, in the immortal words of the great and highly-quotable Ric Flair:
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!"
Suck it again, homos.

Who here is a quitter and a crybaby?
Posted by: Cam Cameron | January 04, 2009 at 02:38 PM
Who the hell starts a playoff game with ONLY 3 active receivers? Now that Devone Bess is out = WE ARE SCREWED with only Ted Ginn and Brandon London out there LOL.
I cant watch the massacre that will be the 2nd half. GOOD SEASON GUYS, SEE YOU NEXT YEAR. THIS IS OVER.
Posted by: GAMEOVER | January 04, 2009 at 02:38 PM
how aboutttttttt, throwing the ball out of the wildcat to Chad and lets see if he can pick up a few yards?
Since Bess and Cobbs are out best players out there why not line them up in the wildcat? and have Polite come in motion :-)
Btw, Jake was abused on that stunt where Penny was sacked and lost 12 yds.
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 02:38 PM
CAM CAMERON IS A GOOD COORDINATOR..DUMB HEAD COACH.
LETS USE THE TE...
AND SUCK IT UP AND PLAY BALL
Posted by: DAVE | January 04, 2009 at 02:39 PM
Anybody want to bet that Reed, Flacco, and RayRat are actually just one person?
Posted by: Rico Tubbs | January 04, 2009 at 02:39 PM
IF ONLY they played not lose at the end of the half we would not be down 2 scores.
Posted by: Hayden Fox | January 04, 2009 at 02:39 PM
We need a TD on first drive to have ANY chance at this game. I'm not optimistic.
Posted by: Andrew H | January 04, 2009 at 02:40 PM
come on chad p make it u.p
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:40 PM
All fair-weather fans should go to Ethan Skolnick's blog. Everyone there is a crybaby and quitter.
Posted by: Cam Cameron | January 04, 2009 at 02:40 PM
11-5 was nice, we are just not ready for this.
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 02:40 PM
Load'em up, lock'em down and move the football. Com'n fins, you can do this. Chad, play smarter. Short passes, run the ball, TD and we're right back in this. Even a field goal would be great. Play like you mean it.
Posted by: mntnmanfinfan | January 04, 2009 at 02:40 PM
Some halftime stats:
Ronnie Brown 10 rushes 17 yards.
Pennington's QB rating is 37.8
Ravens 4 of 5 on third down.

Posted by: azfin | January 04, 2009 at 02:41 PM
We have been good with Cobbs in the passing game, need to get him going.
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 02:41 PM
Seriously folks, this game is not over. Stop bitching.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | January 04, 2009 at 02:41 PM
Look at it this way:
The score, offense vs. offense, is only 6-3.
I would say we are hanging in there pretty damn good.
We are only one big kick return or interception away from getting back into this thing, with a whole other half.
You GOTTA believe.
And you know what, even if our Dolphins lose, they are worth standing and applauding for what they did this season.
So all this crap about being outcoached, and poor play calling, and all-hell-breaking loose is nothing more than that after the past seven years.
You FANS gotta BELIEVE.
Posted by: Matt in NC | January 04, 2009 at 02:41 PM
I SAY GIVE THEM A CHANCE EVERYBODY HAS WRITTEN THEM OFF INCLUDING THEIR FANS, AT LEAST WE SHOULD STICK BEHIND THEM
Posted by: farrington07 | January 04, 2009 at 02:41 PM
We need to improve drastically to have any shot at playoffs next year. Schedule is the exact opposite of this year.

I can get away with using that word because I am a blog administrator. Ha.

Enjoy this 2nd half as this team will likely not make the playoffs next year. This team was clearly a product of a bad schedule. We play NFC South, AFC South, Pitt and SD along with AFC East. Muchh much tougher.
Posted by: Ron on LI | January 04, 2009 at 02:42 PM
Wow the fans totally quit. The stand are EMPTY.
Posted by: darncart | January 04, 2009 at 02:42 PM

Armando,
Amen.
Posted by: Matt in NC | January 04, 2009 at 02:42 PM
Dolphins Stadium is empty. They should have given The Herald more tickets to give away.
Posted by: D | January 04, 2009 at 02:42 PM
Matt in NC: I'll believe more if I see us get a TD. Otherwise, NO DICE.
