Well, do you want the good news or the bad news first?
The good news is the last time the Dolphins played Baltimore, way back in October, the Ravens held a 17-3 lead on Miami to open the third quarter.
So the Dolphins have made up some ground in the past two months or so.
The bad news? Well, they're still losing at halftime today. The Dolphins trail Baltimore 13-3 going into the third quarter.
It has been a nightmare half for Chad Pennington. Pennington has thrown TWO interceptions today while completing only 7 of 12 passes for 77 yards. One of those interceptions was returned 64 yards for a TD by Ed Reed. That is Baltimore's only touchdown of the day so far.
Terrible.
Oh, there is more bad news: Receiver Davone Bess has a thumb injury and missed most of the second quarter. So the Dolphins, which started the day with only three active receivers, are down to two.
Colleague David J. Neal tells me the Dolphins have gone 12 consecutive postseason quarters without a touchdown.
Anyway, the live blog continues in the comments section below.

We're killing ourselves. All our good fortunes were used up during the season.

Mando - trust the local media will write this up positively? It'd be a real shame if the season is overshadowed by one game.
Posted by: Mark D | January 04, 2009 at 02:54 PM
Another turn over! Cobbs looking like a young player there. Wow this one hurts...
Posted by: azfin | January 04, 2009 at 02:54 PM
we look like the 1-15 team. we were a mirage
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 02:54 PM
take the ball away + score!
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:54 PM
Our D has to step up and generate a momentum change. Otherwise we are dead.
Posted by: German FinFan | January 04, 2009 at 02:54 PM
id say if they get a td put in henne just to get some experience. cant do much worse
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:55 PM
Dolphins should just PUNT IT BACK on 1st down when they get the ball rather than trying to run any offensive plays. KEep the score respectable LMAO.
Posted by: DolPhins Are a FLUKE | January 04, 2009 at 02:55 PM
we can't go down 20 to 3 here folks, need to hold them to 3 points!
Posted by: azfin | January 04, 2009 at 02:55 PM
I wish we had lost (a close one) last week. Now, everything the Dolphins have achieved this year will be negated by this terrible game.
Posted by: finsfanmanda | January 04, 2009 at 02:55 PM
Thats it folks. Well it was one hell of a ride. Im going to order my grey hat and hope to meet lots of Jets and Pats fans whilst wearing it round Brisbane and the cities of Australia. Sucks bigtime to go out the that F77cker Can Cameron, but thats our fate.
Posted by: The Boz in Oz | January 04, 2009 at 02:55 PM
intercept
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
No pass rush and turnovers done us in today!
Still a awesome season.
Posted by: daryl | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
I'm really impressed with Flacco. He's obviously got the arm, and he is getting a lot of time, but he throws a great spiral and he looks really savvy.
Posted by: Mark D | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
unreal
Posted by: Mike W | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
oh well
Posted by: farrington07 | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
No one wants to tackle McClain
Posted by: IA DolFan | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
This is a difference in talent. They have far more talent than we do.
Posted by: Joel | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
Offensive pass int not called, houchaly was too busy pumping up on the sidelines
Posted by: Earl | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
Double team block in Ferguson wipes out middle of the interior line. And Crowder ran himself out of the play. Terrible.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
We just don't have the players
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
good season. man i really thought we had a chance today. was pissed everyone was dissing us but guess love is blind.
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:56 PM
team just gave up on that play.
How about this:
Blow out playoff loss.
Parcells leaving.
Tough schedule next year.
It was nice while it lasted
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 02:57 PM
WHY, WHY, WHY do we get blown out today. WHY?
Not even fun.
Could have saw it coming based on what happened yesterday. Not every game would be close and it is ours.
Posted by: Hayden Fox | January 04, 2009 at 02:57 PM
Need to score here to keep it respectable! Don't expect the birds to pass the ball much the rest of the game.
Another reason to hate Sham Cam!!!!
Posted by: azfin | January 04, 2009 at 02:57 PM
Too bad for a poor performance today - lost lots of momentum we worked hard for. Unfortunately, we are making Flacco look like John Elway with no pass rush; our front 3 is getting beat badly on defense and our front 5 on offense are getting man handled every play.
We need to add a WR, DL and LB to this team and we will be fine. Remember where we were last year at this time folks
Posted by: Matt | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
i at least wanted them to play a great game even if they lost. this is not a good way to go into the offseason. doubting yourself.
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
I guess Crowder is "too poor" to tackle or "to poor" to run to the ball.
Posted by: IA DolFan | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
Doen't Crowder always over run the play? Who can we get to replace him?
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION: RAVENS 37, DOLPHINS 3.
ENJOY YOUR OFFSEASON DOLFANS. YOUR TEAM WAS A FLUKE AND YOU ONLY MADE THE PLAYOFFS BY (BARELY) BEATING COMPLETELY PATHETIC TEAMS.
SAD THING IS, YOU DONT EVEN GET A HIGH DRAFT PICK NEXT YEAR. LOLOL.
Posted by: DolPhins Are a FLUKE | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
4 turnovers, you can not win footbal games that way!!!
Posted by: farrington07 | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
Well - no one gave this team any credit all week and I see know that they were right. This is truly a poor poor effort - about the same as the game against Arizona.
Posted by: Vtdolfan | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
........dont touch that dial folks, the champ is here........
Posted by: hurriphin09 | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
Why not bring Henne in for at least a couple of drives. It may give the Ravens a problem. Penningtons dinks and dunk magic will not be enough. The Ravens are much better as a team, but this is embarrasing.
Posted by: The Boz in Oz | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
Lookout for the blowout now, let's hope this isn't 40-3 at the end of the day.
Posted by: Earl | January 04, 2009 at 02:58 PM
One last time: I BELIEVE !!! Score a TD on next possession!! Otherwise we can open the bottle to salute a great season.
Posted by: German FinFan | January 04, 2009 at 02:59 PM
Mando would look good plugging the middle.
Posted by: Mark D | January 04, 2009 at 02:59 PM
OK, who wants to guess how long until Joey Porter commits an out-of-frustration 15-yard penalty?
Posted by: Cam Cameron | January 04, 2009 at 02:59 PM
This game rivals the Jacksonville pasting in Marino's last game.
Team has quit!!
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 02:59 PM
Would someone please fire our horrible offensive corrdinator now. ALl he does is gimick plays that cost us turnovers and never runs the ball eventhough we are a running team. He should step down for the good of the team.
Posted by: rick | January 04, 2009 at 02:59 PM
Why do they slip so much???????
Posted by: German FinFan | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 PM
Hopefully, the Parcells part doesn't happen. He did not llok happy in that booth.
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 PM
Pennington never deserved the NFL MVP, and right now he doesnt deserve to be our starting QB. Henne please, but it will never happen, Sparano has CP in the highest regard,
Posted by: The Boz in Oz | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 PM
Dumb Ross just told Parcells that he's going with King Carl the idiot
Posted by: IA DolFan | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 PM
Ted Ginn tripping has cost us the game. When will they trade this skinny littl bum?
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 PM
give Henne a shot at least he has a stronger arm and mobile....can't do worse than 3 TO's.
Posted by: Mike W | January 04, 2009 at 03:00 PM
Parcells has not won a playoff game since the 98 season.
Posted by: Hayden Fox | January 04, 2009 at 03:01 PM
Crybabies
Posted by: Cam Cameron | January 04, 2009 at 03:01 PM
13 turnovers all year and then this ??? Look after the ball for gods sake
Posted by: The Boz in Oz | January 04, 2009 at 03:01 PM
Suspiciously absent from this game:
Fasano
Porter
Ginn
Posted by: hurriphin09 | January 04, 2009 at 03:01 PM
I wouldn't mind seeing Henne either, but realistically that sends a bad message to both Pennington and to the team - panic.
Imagine Henne getting some work against this nasty defense? I think he is probably pissing down his leg praying he doesn't have to go in.
I hate Cam Cameron, Hate the purple Ravens but will give kudos to their defense - it is loaded. If they give credit to Cam again - i will puke - their defense won this game, not their offensive game plan.
Posted by: Matt | January 04, 2009 at 03:01 PM
DOLPHINS ARE A 5-11 TEAM MASQUERADING AS AN 11-5 TEAM. SAD THING IS, YOU GET A LATE ROUND DRAFT PICK THIS YEAR BECAUSE OF YOUR FLUKE RECORD!!
Posted by: RAVENS OWN YOU | January 04, 2009 at 03:01 PM
Trust me Parcells is gone. He is not turning down $12 mil. Why do you think he put it in the contract? Huizenga new he was selling and new the new owner would be on the hook for the $.
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 03:02 PM
Looks like we've got some Dolphins caught in the Tuna net.
The wise Ric Flair once spaketh:
"WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Suck it one more time, homos.
Posted by: McLain Jockstrap On Your Face | January 04, 2009 at 03:02 PM
At last Chet. Someone else argees with me.
Posted by: The Boz in Oz | January 04, 2009 at 03:02 PM
Brown got angry. Hope that sentiment stays.
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 03:03 PM
Go Ronnie
Posted by: David | January 04, 2009 at 03:03 PM
I love all these fans whose teams are out of the playoffs spending time calling us flukes.
Posted by: IA DolFan | January 04, 2009 at 03:03 PM
The Dolphins might not win. But you definitely want to see them put up a fight. That pass recept by Brown suggest they will do that. I hope.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | January 04, 2009 at 03:03 PM
thats a start
why are we not throwing to the TEs
