Well, do you want the good news or the bad news first?
The good news is the last time the Dolphins played Baltimore, way back in October, the Ravens held a 17-3 lead on Miami to open the third quarter.
So the Dolphins have made up some ground in the past two months or so.
The bad news? Well, they're still losing at halftime today. The Dolphins trail Baltimore 13-3 going into the third quarter.
It has been a nightmare half for Chad Pennington. Pennington has thrown TWO interceptions today while completing only 7 of 12 passes for 77 yards. One of those interceptions was returned 64 yards for a TD by Ed Reed. That is Baltimore's only touchdown of the day so far.
Terrible.
Oh, there is more bad news: Receiver Davone Bess has a thumb injury and missed most of the second quarter. So the Dolphins, which started the day with only three active receivers, are down to two.
Colleague David J. Neal tells me the Dolphins have gone 12 consecutive postseason quarters without a touchdown.
Anyway, the live blog continues in the comments section below.

Football fan,
Obviously your team is not playing this weekend. You have to be a real loser to come on our board and pick apart the dolphins.
Get a life, get a team.
Go fins,

I hear Matt Cassel is available next year. Maybe Parcells and Belichick will cut a deal in the off season. On the other hand, don't count on it. No way Patriots let Cassel go to an AFC East team.

The Ravens are playing not to lose on offense. If the Dolphins offense could manage to not soil their pants, one might think they still have a small chance.

Amazing how dirty the Ravens are. What do expect with a murderer like Ray Lewis on your team?
Posted by: | January 04, 2009 at 03:13 PM
Matt Cassell is getting franchised. ESPN is reporting this.

We need 3 FLUKE TDs.
Posted by: darncart | January 04, 2009 at 03:13 PM
Dont feel bad Dolfans...you never stood a chance. I'm surprised that anyone is surprised by this. "Soft" teams like you just can't cut it in the playoffs.

I would like Chad to finish, but I would like to see him come out soon so he does not get hurt. I would like to see him in OTA's and minicamps healthy.

Hi Matt, sorry I hurt your feelings. However, since you seem inclined to give unsolicited advice, I'll give you some too. You should think about getting a team too.

Pennington could throw 10 picks and still be in the game. The relationship between coach and QB is strong. Chad has the backing of the whole organisation and the long term view must be that he will be the starter for the next 2-3 seasons, but for gods sake it is not his Fri88ing day get him out of there.

Kudos to Chad & the entire team for an amazing season. Obv we have a ways to go still... but we all knew that, Didn't we?
We ran into a buzz saw today, but then we weren't suppose to be here in the first place. I appreciate the effort and look forward to next season. (barring some huge comeback... lol can't help it, i'm a TRU fan)

Amazing that they kill their momentum with the blocked PAT. The have made every mistake possible.

Thank God Ray Lewis hasn't done nothing today to gloat about. We own him!!
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 03:24 PM
Time for our D to get proactive. They must realize that 3-and-out isn't good enough. They need to strip the ball and paralyze Joe Fluke-O

PLEASE, I beg everyone involved with the organization...trade Ginn to Detroit immediately. 4 or 5 touchdowns in 2 years, and the most costly bobble/fumble of the year. Trade that bum !!!

everything bad is happening to us today!!!

How much do you guys think Ted Ginn bet on Baltimore??
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 03:37 PM
We are giving them the game. They blow. Our O is crapping the bed.
Posted by: shaggy | January 04, 2009 at 03:39 PM
WE had a chance to get at least a FG bu thanks to Ginn our season is screwed, very tempted to pray he gets injured and has to retire.
Posted by: The Boz in Oz | January 04, 2009 at 03:39 PM
Farrington is sort of right and bad things are happening...but it's not some odd fluke. It's Ted Ginn tripping, fumbling, and not going after the ball aggresively. I know Chad P will be blamed for this loss, but the true insiders will notice that Ted Ginn blew this.
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 03:39 PM
Boz, we do not want Ginn to retire. We want to at least get a 7th round pick for him from the Lions. Or maybe they can trade Ginn for an extra water boy or something. Ginn and Jason Allen are the only sad remnants of the Cameron/Saban era that need to be expunged so we can get a fresh start.
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 03:45 PM
Midnight has struck, ladies. You had no business being here in the first place. You are a fraud of a playoff team.
Try again next year, losers.
Suck it again, all offseason long homos!
Posted by: Flacco Teabag In Your Mouth and Endzone | January 04, 2009 at 03:47 PM
Ginn just got late-hitted out of bounds!! The first positive thing he's done all day!!!
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 03:48 PM
good job fins...it was a great season...no need to be mad at our team they did everything they could have done...I am even more pumped for next season!!!
Posted by: farrington07 | January 04, 2009 at 03:59 PM
Hey--despite all our my complaining, I am so proud of the Dolphins this year. Let's hope we build on this season, since no one gave us a chance coming in. Great job, Miami. Here's to next year. I'm with you 100%
Posted by: Chet | January 04, 2009 at 04:01 PM
Man, it was a tough game. I don't think the Ravens did all that well, it was more the pressure of being the comeback team that did them in, I think. If I was able to get pictures of all the little things that lost the game, anyone would agree with me.
