Live free agency blog at midnight!

Free agency begins this evening and we're going to celebrate two ways: I'm going to give you some information while also hang out with you starting at midnight for about an hour.

The information I have for you is that the Dolphins are going to be aggressive during this free agency period. A club source tells me they have a couple of guys they like and they're going to bring those guys in starting Friday. So the Dolphins could have their first wave of free agency signing(s) Friday afternoon sometime.

It will be very, very, very interesting to see if soon-to-be-former Baltimore center Jason Brown is one of those guys. Make no mistake, the Dolphins like this guy a lot and have been inquiring about him and doing their due diligence on him.

But part of that due diligence is understanding what the guy is looking for in free agency. And if he is serious about getting $7-$8 million per year, that just might be too rich for the Dolphins to stomach. They can afford it, make no mistake. But it would adversely affect the club salary structure in which the center would be making as much, or more, than the right tackle. That is hard for a team to justify.

Moreover, Brown rexpects to be chased by the free-spending Washington Redskins or the St. Louis Rams who have had no issues in the past with throwing money around. So my free Miami-Dade Public Schools education tells me the Dolphins address the center-right guard position, but they do it with someone else in free agency, someone not quite so expensive.

... And then get another crack at it the spot in the draft, too. Remember Tony Sparano believes you can never have too many linemen.

This is not to suggest Brown doesn't like the idea of playing for the Dolphins.

"Bill Parcells definitely knows football," Brown said in an interview that will appear in Friday's edition of the Carroll County Times. "He's definitely doing the fundamental things it takes to build a winner and you can see that ... You can see how Parcells has turned that thing around."

Brown also likes the idea of moving his family to South Florida for the next five or six years.

"There's lots of beautiful beaches, retirement communities, and it can be pretty laid back," he said. "Me and my wife would fit in with that."

But in the next instant, Brown talks of liking the idea of staying in the Baltimore-D.C. area, too. It is closer to his native North Carolina, so there is a comfort zone there. And again, the Redskins or Rams are likely to bring money quickly -- as early as 12:01 a.m.

I'm not saying the Dolphins won't make a push, but it just looks like they're not the big favorite in this deal.

Anyway, come back for the midnight live blog. If worse comes to worse and nothing happens, we'll just hang out for a bit. You guys don't have anything else to do, right?

We signed Crowder. Forget about Bart Scott.

Gimme a center, a ravens center

Brother this is Panama City, Panama...

Mando what about the options at ILB

Like in Central America

I agree wit u bj wit tha mentor thing but if it was 2 happen it has 2 b a 1 year thing because like i said b4 camarillo and bess will move down tha depth chart
as 3th and 4th receivers and they both r better than where they would b on tha depth chart

Scott is too expensive! I'd rather keep Vonnie Holliday and draft a cheaper center.

Any news on Byrant Mcfadden coming to Miami. I think he would be a perfect fit. That kid is ready for the big time. LET ME KNOW IS THE FINS ARE INTERESTED?

Jason Brown has decided to take his first visit with the Redskins. Bye Jason.

not Scott, the Ravens center

Armando - I got a pot of coffee on and I am ready to hang out for an hour or so. Drop me a line if you start to doze.

Does anyone know the backup site for PFT?

The Dolphins are "believed to be" working on a deal to retain free agent CB Andre' Goodman before the 12AM deadline.
He's entering his 30+ years, but has been something of a late bloomer and is worth keeping as a nickel back. Goodman picked off five passes in

This is being reported at rotoworld.com

I would prefer to get younger not older, unless harrison is a great bargain(which i doubt)

Its 12:05 in the freaking morning!!! Do we have Jason Brown yet, I need to go to sleep HAPPY!!!!

I say we get Coles and we will draft a center. Also whats the word if the Dolphins are keeping an eye on Percy Harvin?

I think what separates this regime from the previous regimes is that fact that the Dolphins use free agency to supplement their draft targets instead of the other way around.

Its obvious they felt that with the 25th pick, according to their player values, Channing Crowder, Yeremiah Bell, and G. Wilson are better than any LB, or S available with the 25th pick.

I won't pretend to know anything about the Ravens center, but everyone is reporting this is "the guy" in free agency. If he fits our structure, they'll have a go at him.

espn keeps pusjin nfl live back

Armando, could Jake Grove be the linemen you're talking about?

NFL Live goes live at 12:18 A.M.

No Coles. How about we develop Ginn and Wilford and draft a deep threat for next year and hopefully an arm that can get him the ball deep in stride. Maybe Henne.

I know alot of Fin fans cause of the News of the Redskins being interested on Brown, but so far the Redskins have been linked to Canty, Hall, Dockery, Canty and Haynesworth. Mind you they only 8.1 of cap left. Rediculous these redskin rumors.

Snyder is the next Al Davis

Armando, what do you think the likelyhood of Penny having a say in bringing Coles to Miami. Coles is far from old and nothing I have seen would indicate he can't still run a 4.4 40 as he gets deep. What is our salary cap number as far as money remaining after the Bell signing and how much do you think Miami would pony up for a veteren like Coles? Remember, I guy like Coles could do more than just play, he could mentor our young recieveing corps.....

Micah Vargo

I told you ESPN wasnt going to hold their NFL live until 12:30 EST. Thats what i heard some chick on the show say about an hour ago.

Micah: I think Pennington has given his opinion on Coles. I wouldn't doubt the Dolphins would have interest in him as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver and at a reasonably low price, which I think Coles isn't prepared to take.

Hurry break the news on COLES coming to the FINS!!!!

Hey Mando, do agents ever use you to unwittingly plant stories in order to try and gain an advantage in negotiations? Are they texting you right now?

Forget about all the intangibles that Marvin Harrison doesnt have (no leadership, too much money, injuries). He is just not that good anymore. It's one thing to be 36 and playing QB, he's playing WR. Thats too old. Hes not that good anymore.

Mando, what about the Canty? Redskins were apparently interested and he was interested in coming here because he is a "Parcells Guy". Any chance we sign him and cut Holliday?

Armando whos the other center u were talking about?

Sherif thats a terrible idea. Wilford has been in the league for five years what the hell else is he going to learn?

Mando, anyword on Bart Scott?

What the dilly with the OL

can't see why miami would get harrison. do you think he ends up in philly?

I just poured hot coffee on my balls. I guess I will be will up until morning now...with my bag packed in ice.

im gonna sleep not enough action

Guys, Coles was cut. The Dolphins didn't have to wait until midnight to do anything with him. Obviously nothing happened yet with him but not because of some midnight starting time. Miami could have signed him all day today if it wanted.

so if Coles is the number two or three receiver, who is number one and two?

nfl live is coming up

did anyone leave SANTA some cookies and milk???????

TMI randall TMI

Bra1n: Yes, and not unwittingly. They try to do it wittingly, if you will.

I say the next FA will be a CB.

Mando how many people are the Redskins Signing with their missly 8.1 in cap room. They Canty and Brown on the way. There are report of being interested inDockery and trying to resign Hall, my personal favorite is giving a 100 mill contract to Haynesworth. The Skins are full of it and Snyder need to retire.

Is there any chance the fins go after and sign CB BRYANT MCFADDEN?

If the phins signed Crowder for low enough $ , would they have an interest at this point in Scott?

Mando- have there been any signings since midnight for any teams? Seems like in previous years there were a couple right at the start.

Mando, I thought Coles had his deal re-structured to become a free agent and wasn't cut outright?

Mando who is the best corner in free agency that wouldn't break the bank?

I read a report on rotoworld.com stating the Fins were workingto sign Goodman in order for him not become a FA.

I apree about letting Torbor go as well a getting younger by letting Holliday go. Holliday is a great guy but the fact of the matter is that Miami can saign a younger option for the same money.(see Olshanskey) AS far as Torbor goes, I just haven't seen the production to live up to the contract. When Crowder went down the defence suffered up the middle to say the least. I think Torbor is better suited as a 4-3 inside backer than a good fit in the 3-4. Mr. Salguero, do you or Drew Rosenhaus REALLY have any information that MIAMI is targeting a WR in the first round any more than any of us? I mean I am all for upgrades, but rarely does a first round WR have significant impact in the first round with possibly only Robiskie having an impact. And I think that Miami can get that type or more of a production out of Coles for possibly a little more money and save the pick for a db. What do you think? What about Laurenitis r Mauluga if they slide???

Here we go baby! We need Brown for Brown to have some running room. Put out the money so we can get the production from our backs

im suprised they havent restructured holidays contract yet

This wont happen but it is interesting. how do trading ginn and 3rd round pick for boldin? or will allen and 1 round pick for oakland's cb? tha 1 thats tha highest paid. i cant spell his name but yall should know who im talkin about. lol

86 ted (hands of stone)ginn and his clipboard holding daddy , get coles make it a coles , bess, and camerello wide outs, and throw in h.o.s for a reverse once a game..

Yeah i believe Eric is rite on this one Armando. I've read on a couple different sites that Coles wasnt available until the start of FA

dude this blog is on fire.

The Dolphins have been trying to re-sign Goodman for a couple of weeks now, actually. I hear he wants $5 mill per year.

I also understand the Patriots are one of the teams interested if he doesn't re-sign.
