Arizona (for now) receiver Anquan Boldin still wants out of the Cardinals organization. And he believes if the Dolphins trade for him and make that escape possible, he'd absolutely welcome the idea.
“I would love to," Boldin said of playing for Miami on ESPN Radio 760 in Palm Beach. "You know, I’m a Florida guy, always will be a Florida guy at heart. If it happens, I’ll definitely be grateful.”
But the Cardinals have been playing coy about whether Boldin will be available in trade soon or at all. They also, by the way, haven't given Boldin a new contract, which is the reason the receiver wants out of Arizona in the first place.
The situation has left Boldin uncertain where he'll play in 2009.
“Honestly, I don’t know," he told the radio station. "It’s at a point right now where there’s not any discussion between myself and the team. When something does happen, I’ll let my agent take care it. I guess he’ll converse with the GM or management ... It’s a tough situation and you definitely don’t want this hanging over your head going into another season, especially it being a couple of years past due…”
Make no mistake: The Dolphins earlier this offseason would have had interest in Boldin had he been on the trade block. Now? I'm getting the feeling the interest has diminished greatly based on the team's greater knowledge of receivers about to be available in the draft and the fact those rookies would only cost a draft pick.
If Boldin becomes available, any team interested would have to give up draft compensation and then sign Boldin to a big contract -- the double whammy. Don't see it happening, but as GM Jeff Ireland said in yesterday's post, "never say never."
By the way, I present the following video in case you've forgotten what Boldin can do.

This topic again? Slow news days indeed. Can we please move past this already? They aren't going to break the bank for Boldin. Talk about something else already.

Rexryansux,
Even though I agree that Rex Ryan sucks...You should not call people monkey's, it only shows how stupid you are...Remember, that guy from NY Post got fired for it too... To some it all up: Calling people monkeys is generally frowned upon

Mando - Why bring this up in less you seriously think it's going to happen? You know all of us real Fin fans want a big play maker at receiver!

For those of you out there that don't think Steve Breaston is a legit starting NFL receiver, look at his stats last year (only his 2nd NFL season, btw):
77 REC 1006 YDS 13.1 AVG 3 TDS in only 9 starts.
For the people who call him a slot receiver with no real quickness, I'll remind you he ran a 4.41 second 40 yd dash about 3 years ago (when ted ginn ran a 4.35).
Now that that's settled... Ginn for Boldin is a pipe dream. The cardinals have all the leverage at the moment because Boldin has two years left on his contract. He can bitch and moan all he wants, but at the end of the day he'll show up on game day to get his check. That being said, I think Boldin could probably be had for a 2nd round pick or maybe even a 3rd because of the depth at the position in this years draft. I personally wouldn't want to give up our 1st for him but if he can be had on the cheap and is willing to give a S.Florida discount, then I'm all for it.

Souljahbeats, I will accept your backhanded compliment with grace, Christian charity and an appreciation that your senses have been numbed by melody-less rap music.
I do feel that it is incumbent upon me to correct the record, however. I have refrained from manual stimulation since my marriage, yet were I to engage in that disgusting, albeit often necessary habit, my objects of desire would neither be "old ladies" nor "fat chicks" since Sophia Loren was neither old nor fat in 1962, and neither was Sally Struthers in 1972.

MY FAVORITE GORDS:

3) Gordon Lightfoot

Posted by: conzalez | April 02, 2009 at 03:14 PM
Mondo, perhaps I am missing something here... Why do you say it is a double whammy if the Fins trade for Boldin? Even if they gave the Cards their 1st round pick. Wouldn't they be doing the same if they drafted a WR with that pick? They would be using that pick and have to give him a pretty large contract...
I think if they intend to pick a WR in the first round they would be smarter to trade that pick for Boldin. Or maybe Ginn and a later round pick, and that frees up cap space.
Having said that I think that would be a bad move and they should concentrate on the D this year.

Rex These guys who think Breaston is a 1 or 2 reciever dont know much about football.
Take away Boldin and Fitzgerald and this guy is a complete nobody.
Hell, with the attention Fitzgerald and Boldin recieves from the defenses around the league. With a good pair of hands, you and I could have 1,000 yds recieving. These guys just dont understand how great players make average players look better. I would even take Ginn over Breaston any day!

Posted by: Brady's bastard child | April 02, 2009 at 03:25 PM
What about John Beck? Maybe the Dolphins could make a trade package with a one of our second round draft picks and Beck for Boldin... I mean Warner only has a year or two left and Leinart hasn't shown much, they need someone to compete with him for the job...I know the Dolphins don't like to trade away high draft picks (and I agree with that), but we have 2 second rounders and if we were going to use one of those picks on a receiver anyway, I could understand making this move...This is probably low-balling it for Boldin, but its just a thought....

Reason I say Ginn/Boldin straight up is because if you give high pick with the deal, your giving away 2 starters or potential starter, for one starter. What about that doesnt sound "stupid" to some of the people in here.
Hell, We can grab a starter in 3rd round where Ramses Barden is still slated to be available. Plus theres no telling what we may get from some of our developmental recievers from last year.
Its totally ludicrous to give up a starter and high draft pick for Boldin. He is not our answer for making the Super Bowl this year.

It seems to me that you may be that Norman Gentle from American Idol on a football blog, do you wear a headband and leg warmers?
Mr. Rex,
Latka, that was histerical!
I would love to see Boldin in aqua but if the Trifecta wants to go through the draft for another reciever and the right one is there on our clock, BAM, snag him. Also, I got a feelin' Teddy isn't going anywhere.
Peace

Nathaniel,
None of the "hand soap" references were me. Unlike most people on here, I only sign in under one name and I have never said anything about hand soap.
Like I said earlier, I've worked in all genres of music from reggae, to jazz, to blues, to hip hop, rock, metal, and even some country and opera. And I am only a "whippersnapper" if you are over 60, which I think could be a distinct possibility.

Posted by: souljahbeats | April 02, 2009 at 04:23 PM
i actually think that parcells would pull the trigger for boldin. but i dont think we have enuf to offer the birds unless u throw ronnie brown out there. dont mind paying boldin b/c he deserves it and u tie him up for 4/5 yrs, hes only 28. henne will have a stud target to throw to,ginns gonna benefit playing the 2, we just have to rely on ricky. wow...did i just say that. maybe its sounds a little scary, but thats the only way. unless the bird f/o is so dumb to take ginn and a 2or3. eagles r gonna go after him hard, but we have a good shot under the right situation, lets keep r fingers crossed.

Superfin72. Stop being so ridiculous. Nodody was saying we wouldn't want to give up just ginn instead of ginn and draft picks. I would love it. We're giving you the other teams point of view. Be it arizona or anybody else. Thinking you can get a boldin type wr for just a ginn is just plain stupid. also to downplay breaston's 1000 yds just shows your lack of knowledge about the game.
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | April 02, 2009 at 04:47 PM
I read the first couple of pages and just couldn't take it anymore! Why is everybody talking about giving up a 2nd for Boldin? Arizona previously turned down a pair of 1st picks so they aren't going to settle for a 2! If you want Boldin, START with the 25th pick or don't bother even thinking about the trade at all!
Peronally, I would give up the 1st and a later pick for Boldin. There is no guarantee that your drafted WR is going to be anywhere NEAR as gifted as Boldin.

All this talk about us getting Boldin is giberish!

Who wouldn't trade 4 boldin? We are in need of a #1 reciever, and im tired of people saying get @ good reciever in the draft. Now y would u want to draft a reciever who is a star in college but yet has the chance of being a big time bust in the nfl?? I say we get boldin... he can open it up 4 ginn, camarillo, bess and maybe even london, if we do that we can focus on @ linebacker or a defensive end w our 1st pick... c'mon pplz put ur thinking cap on!

My favorite person to rotate with Sophia Loren? Gina Lollobrigida. There's something about buxom Italian women that set my loins on fire, and make me long to string up Mussolini and urinate on his corpse.
Here's my problem with today's current popular music, which Souljahbeats inflicts upon us: aside from their being a dearth of fine melodies and harmonies, my real beef is the way in which the heavy drum beat always seems to be put on the 3rd beat of the 4-beat bar. When I listen, it makes me feel like there's water in my lungs. Souljahbeats, please see what you can do about that and get back to me.
Let's see. What else do I need to respond to.
Oh, yes. I am not 60, but 41. I know this because my pubes are still black.

I am not usually NOT for trading draft picks, but HE DOES fit the Parcells mold. Big, strong, YOUNG, but not cheap. 3 of 4 aint bad for a Proven receiver. Trust me, Boldin WILL sell tickets.
