« Afternoon draft update from around the NFL | Main | Dolphins pick Vontae Davis in the first round »

Live radio at 11 a.m., live blog at 4 p.m.

We are on the clock. Only hours until the draft starts and then, well, only hours until something happens in Miami. I'm pumped.

So let's have a radio show! And let's do a live blog!

Here's the deal:

I will be on the air today on 790-AM The Ticket in South Florida and will be talking Dolphins and draft from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If you are not fortunate enough to live in paradise, you can listen online at 790theticket.com and call the show toll free from anywhere in the United States at 1-888-790-3776. I want to hear from you!

Then at 4 p.m. when the draft begins we will do a live blog until the Dolphins pick or something actually happens. I will be on here throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

This should be an interesting day. I am told the Dolphins have spent some time the past 24 hours thinking about Derrick Burgess. The OLB possibility is available in trade from the Oakland Raiders. Yes, I know I've been telling you the Dolphins want to add draft picks not trade them away. Yes, I know Burgess is turning 31 in August. But the guy has been a solid pass-rusher of the first order in his career, collecting 47 sacks in seven seasons. Coach Tony Sparano has a great deal of respect for Burgess from the player's days with the Philadelphia Eagles.

This doesn't mean the Dolphins will trade for Burgess. But obviously they have to study the possibility.

By the time it's over, we'll know the names of the three players -- the first-round and two second-round picks -- that had better turn into starters for the Dolphins before the 2009 season is over.

We'll have a pretty good idea where Jason Taylor will end up in 2009, with New England continuing to be the favorite.

And we'll see how well or poorly Miami's AFC East rivals do as they attempt to dethrone the AFC East champions.

By the way, if you can't call the radio show and cannot be here for the live blog, you can leave your comment or question below and I'll answer them first when the live blog begins. And please people, let's leave the monkey talk and the social chat room banter out today, OK?

Gotta go get find my Mel Kiper wig now.

The Browns have traded their pick to the Eagles who are now on the clock.

Eagles need WR, OT, CB.

Crowder and Maualuga in the middle would be nice two animals they would feed off each others energy....hope ur right mando !!!

Wow...how many picks have the Browns acquired today???

Maclin to Eagles?

I love Rey malahahdgkskjdhskf from USC, i agree with amrando, the guy is fierce, great instincts and open fild tackler, good speed for an insidne linebacker, and underrated blitz skills which will look better with porter and cameron wake and hopefullyyy jason taylor in the mix....he would be great with the under achieving channing crowder andmake our defense legit....too bad malcom jenkins got taken, he would have been my pick at 25....the other corners are just not worth it....they either cant tackler, or dont have sizze, or speed, or off field issues....none of that needed here

Its gonna be Nicks. You heard it here 1st....

Rey Rey Rey.......if I keep saying it, maybe it will happen

Hope Detroit takes someone like Michael Oher or another player we don't need.

Cleveland must think Hicks will be there later.

I can see Lauranitis going to Detriot here. Cleveland making smart moves by moving down.

Nicks woud be better in the second round for the fins....i think nicks or britt will fall to the second round, and we can trade up for them in the second and take one of them.....the dolphins would have a great draft if they would get rey from usc and either nicks or britt as their second pick

Keep it going Menace

Michael Oher to the Lions.

Is there anyway you see the Dolphins trading down with these level of players still available?

I dont like the pick by the Eagles.Ssame guy as Jackson.

What about Peria Jerry? he is steel available

We need a corner more than we need a linebacker.

Lions will take Oher

I would love if either of Pettigrew, Jerry or Maualuga would fall to us.

But no corner to me is good enough to be taken at 25....trade for sheldon brown for that reason with a lower pick....no corner besides jenkins had real first round talent....

Let's hope we sign a receiver, but with Tuna's policy I think I am very wrong.

If Butler and Maualuga both gone at No. 25, the Dolphins try to move back, I believe. I could be wrong, but ... well, we'll see.

If stafford is legit, great first round for the lions.....but they certainly are giving the guy help by taking the TE....one of the best players in the draft...good job detroit

Miami should trade up to Cleveland to grab Mauluga before NE gets him.

Detroit - Calvin Johnson & Pettigrew -- Pretty nice combination for stafford to throw to. Gotta like detriots picks thus far.

4 pick remaining & tons of talent remaining!! I like the way this draft has turned out for us..

But as Assasin keeps chanting, "Rey, Rey, Rey!"

Detroit having a great draft, and with even more to come. 1st pick in the second round.

NE will grab rey before we can.

Lauranitis to cleveland - local Ohio boy stays home.

Alex Mack to the Browns. So far, so good for Miami.

Thank GOD Cleveland SUCKS!!! We are going to get a GREAT DEFENSIVE PLAYER!!! YES!!!

Im thinking the fins will go CB and WR in the 2nd round..it would be a reach to get Butler or any of the WR's right now

Nice pick by cleveland - Mack will be a stud for them. Watched him out here on the west coast at Cal.

belichik cheated already!! Dunno who they're getting
But something illegal ocurred!!

ATL could break some fins hearts.

yessssss Percy Harvin away from Miami

The pats will probably take Clay Matthews after they traded Vrable to the chiefs

Harvin to the Vikings. Rick Spielman!

hahahahahahha stupid vivkings.....harvin sux and i live i gainesville, hes going to be a bustttt

Harvin's gone!

RobbyMarino, your dead on.

I guess Minnesota didn't learn there lesson with Randy Moss etc. WOW!

Rey will be there at 25

Wow Harvin otta there, ove to get the reaction from Dolphin HQ

Dolphins could trade down and still get a good player.

WOW!!! Percy "pass the blunt" Harvin went 22!!!

HARVIN going to VIkings YES YES YES

Lets go DOLPHINS!!!

Could NE take a tackle to improve the O Line? Brady is coming off an injury and in the previous super bowl, the NYG D Line ate their lunch.

Armando, with all these WR's gone in the first round, will there be any left when we pick in the 2nd?

we're gettin' a cb or an olb

NE will take Brown from FSU

thank the lord harvin got taken and we didnt have parcells worrying about him.....im so happy we didnt take ginn minus 2 "blunter" percy harvin

i think miami will shock us as well

Fins should keep their 1st round pick, and trade their earlier 2nd round pick for more picks. Let's go for a pass rusher already.

Earl, the receiver who have gone in the first round didn't interest the Dolphins. Harvin? No way. Maclin? No way.

They want big receivers like Nicks.

everette brown or rey rey and i would be going totally insane...id love it

Pats trade their pick

Pioli is out of the picture in NE...Billy B. is going to blow this pick.

Seems that their Nose Tackle is available.

I believe only 1 was chosen.

Which is interesting, being that a lot of teams are going to the 3-4.

That, or a Cornerback.

We shall see! =)

baltimores taking maulauga
