On JT, making the team and communication

Although my column on how the Dolphins communicate clearly with their players was The Herald's most read story on Sunday, I know a lot of you use the day for family, recreation and things that don't necessarly involve reading the newspaper or website, so please check out the piece.

It recounts how the Dolphins have an understanding with Jason Taylor about a bunch of things, including him not worrying about playing time, or starting, and even about him understanding he's got to make the team to, well, make the team -- in other words, he has to earn his roster spot.

Taylor will begin his offseason work in earnest Monday when he reports for the team's OTAs. Tuesday's OTA will be open to the media and Taylor will speak for the first time as a once and current member of the team.

Question for the faithful: Does it bother you the Dolphins do not introduce their new player additions in press conferences as other teams do? Miami didn't introduce Jake Grove or Gibril Wilson with a press conference. They didn't have one for Taylor, either. They just don't do that for reasons involving embracing the team concept. Does it matter to you?

As I write in the column I'm undeniably and shamelessly plugging in this post, Taylor was fine with accepting the Dolphins terms that extended beyond his contract. He was fine with earning his spot (I have a feeling he'll still be good enough to do that), and he was fine with whatever playing time he gets.

Taylor just wanted to be a Dolphin again because he wanted to be back home with his family. As his agent Gary Wichard told me last week, "Jason only wanted to play for the Dolphins. It was never about playing for any other team."

So do you folks agree with me that Taylor will indeed earn his roster spot? Does it puzzle you the Dolphins even addressed this issue with him? Or are you glad the team is treating everyone the same when, in fact, everyone is not really the same?

Also, how many of you agree with me that the way the Dolphins communicate with their players -- in plain English with no room for uncertainty -- is the best way to operate in today's NFL?

One more thing: Last week I mentioned that Paul Soliai might get some time at defensive end based on several factors, including the fact the latest Miami roster had him listed as a DE. I'm told he'll be used as a NT first and then the team might consider a move only if some extenuating circumstances occur. Just want to make sure we're clear.

The menace has arrived my azzzzzzzz. You never left, we are not fooled

Mr. Menace,

could you humor us with a funny story about tasering someone?

this is not what your mama told me squiward

mr,souljpatata, can you do a sumer salt for

for us

To Sammy:I didn't give you s--t your girl gave that to you. Now Armando might have taken you under his wings but the man that I am always stand on his own 2. So while you follow I listen and come up with my own conclusion. After see what JASON TAYLOR did 2 years ago and knowing how hard he works if you or ARMANDO your god thinks that he wouldn't play more than any other LB is crazy. The best 53 will play.and as of right now he is better than at least 40 curent players.....SAMMY UR THE IDIOT.....

Soulja, Nothing funny bout being tassered, we all had to be tass. to know its effects on the body, but i guess 1 good story is i got to tasser my sgt. and i hit her on her breast which iam sure was quite uncomfortable.

AFC EAST CHAMPS MY NOSE,

why can't you argue without dirt talk ? if i am in agreement with some one like armando who spend most of his life doing sport and teaching people like you about football, it's not a crime,he some times say things i don't agree with like last article of JT, i found it one sided in favor of JT but you don't have any thing to offer, you just in love with jt.

Q...last year....11-5,
this year........what,you tell me,can you top 11-5 ? NO WAY JOSE

whAT Happend TO eL ChoRizo?

U guys are really staring to Piss me off.!!

SAMMY: You called me an idiot for no reason ARMANDO is a good repoter and hats off for his blog. But the 2-3 yrs just reading and bloging 1 year it's just ARMANDO always seem to have something(-)2 say. Even when they went 1-15 Ilook at a team that had no heart to finish games.they lost about 11 games by 7 points or less. NOW can they top 11-5. WHY NOT.16-0

CUBAN thanks for being a complete waste of tax payers dollars.

why not 19-0

Afcchamps, No Problem, somebodys got to do it...

Afcchamps, No problem, somebodys got to do it, and by the way if you ever call 911 you'll see how useless we are.... putz.

The Menace is now taking your calls, shoot a Q at the cuban.

Yeah Menace. Security guards like you are useless .

You Know you dont write like afceast, you sound like a pink pants wearing lil man by the name of M@@c, Yeah its the hormorphidite m@@c, where you been dog?

CUBAN you protect the weak not me cops can't even obey the laws but want the ones paying them to do so. does that s--t sounds crazy or what.

Any way if your a cop why CUBAN MENACE?

SOMEONE ELSE IS USING MY NAME.

Dude, i serve the great people of new york, weather they be poor, rich, strong or weak, doesnt matter to me who you are bro, its my job ane i cant think of any other job id want...

AFC East Champs,

Menace is not a cop. Do not be a fool. One would like to think that a cop would be spending alot of time on this blog. He is a security guard, nothing wrong with. As a guard he can spend that kind of time blogging and it won't hurt anything. He never denies it becuase it is true. Some other scum bag will post to defend it when it is him posting as another.

Jason Taylor should earn his spot on the roster as well as the right to start through hard work in every OTA, Voluntary (mandatory) workout and training camp just like every player on the roster. JT needs to prove to Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland and Tony Sparano he is ready to go and woark as hard as he can each and every day.

I Knew someone was using AFCEASTCHAMPS name, my good friend AFC, doesnt speak such non sence, mando whos using AFCEASTCHAMPS good name ?

Man...you guys go from zero to weirdo in a hurry, dontcha?

Menace,

You yourself have used diff names to post before and you know it. Give me a break!

Menace serves the good people all right , by holding open the front doors of their apt building . Then coming back on this blog all day and being a F'n social parasite.

Cuban Menace was the inspiration for the movie Paul Blart: Mall cop

Parasite ... Hackey Is using the same words the hormophidite marc always used, where you been lil man, by the way i just mentioned your name and your mom wagged her tail and barked... i guess she remembers you.

my dog is freaking out because it is storming! he gets all scared and shakes and pants and looks pitiful. I think he is traumatized from hurricanes...

Ok guys and girls and hormorphidites(marc) gotta go and walk marcs mother, see you all later.

Wonder where gopats is? Hmmmm

Armando,

Do you write like a jerk on purpose?

I told you Cuban Menagerie, Go back to your post, enough with the computer. Too many breaks enough already.

What a matter cuban menace/paul blart: mall cop ? Truth hurts ?

tt

Captain Lasard, you are a mean boy
Hackey,you are a mean boy

Helium, you are just no body

soulj, what do you feed your animal ?

how ugly is your dog ?

paul blart is a funny movie, but i thought it would be better.

I hate it when people say he has earned his spot because of his history, if that was the case then Marino could return and be the starting quarterback, because he has earned it.

I hope we maximize Taylors effectiveness, if hes the best player he should play if (and thats a big if} another player can out preform him then the other player should get the snaps.

Our defense is gonna be top notch. A healthy Taylor & Porter is scary. We have young athletic corners and depth at all positions except Nose Tackle.
Our Oline is bigger and stronger. smiley has to come back strong.

C=Carlito from Golfito

Sad day for Celtics, Sadder day for gopats, wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Maybe he/she killed himself wahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Personally I saw the article as food for thought during a slow time in the NFL, not an attempt by armando to stir up any "Kontroversy". Sounds like some people on this board have plenty of inclination to handle that themselves.

I don't think I have ever seen anything more then players walking the company line when introduced in a press conference. You get the line, "The Dolphins are the team I most wanted to play for, and I am just looking forward to getting to work." Blah, blah, etc. What matters is what happens on gameday. Nothing more, nothing less.

As far as JT...If he does the things he should do, and acts like a player trying to help the team rather then himself he will be fine. Signing that contract was a good gesture on his part. Now let's see what he contributes. I am sure the offseason conditioning program will help him to stay in one piece.

JT will bust his hump because he wants to win.... and save his good name his legacy if you will. most cops start out as good cops... for about the first 5 years of their careers then they are broken down by long hours , desensitized by the things they see and the power and corruption that comes with having a badge.

Sammo: Cops are good until they catch up to that first person that challenges their power. it doesn't even have to be threating. Cops suffer from being human.but want us to be better. The whole law thing is 2 faced and crooked from the lawyers, judges, cops, congress, president.etc. and the people are the majority who are the ones that the crocked must keep in line.

afceast, do you like goat neat ?

Why are you talking about cops...gees.
C = Carlito from Golfito. Don't mind Carlito from Golfito he spent time in jail/prison and can get a little goofy. You know like when he says do you like goat meat or do you eat cake. Just tell him to Callate la boca!

i was commenting from the 2nd page of this blog mr. crabs. AFC EAST CHAMP you are right the whole system is flawed and corrupt. at least we know the nfl is free of corruption .... cept 4 the patriots the refs in the last super bowl the cards got robbed more than an old lady in compton and the cowboys of the 90's.
