Brian Hartline, Dolphins agree to contract

The Dolphins are slowly but surely working their way toward signing all of their draft picks this summer and today another rookie is in the house, as they say, because receiver Brian Hartline has agreed to terms with the team.

The coming signing, first reported by Brian McIntyre on Mac's Football Blog, brings the number of Dolphins rookies who have either agreed to or signed their first NFL contracts to five, including both wide receivers.

Hartline's four-year contract could be worth just under $4 million if he reaches all his incentives and escalator clauses. The actual worth of the deal is more along the lines of $2.25 million with a guaranteed bonus in the $500,000 neighborhood.

No further financial details are currently available. The Dolphins will announce the signing once Hartline actually puts his signature on the document, which could by the end of this week.

Patrick Turner, John Nalbone, Andrew Gardner and JD Folsom have signed previously. This is good news but not exactly man-bites-dog stuff as the Dolphins have had all of their rookies signed by the end of the first weekend of training camp in each of the past two years.

General Manager Jeff Ireland continues to work to make certain the streak is extended to three consecutive years. The Dolphins take the field for their first training camp practice Aug. 2.

First-rounder Vontae Davis, second-rounders Pat White and Sean Smith and fifth-round pick Chris Clemons have yet to agree to deals.

By the way, if you followed on twitter you would have gotten the heads up that I had posted this blog seconds after I did it. You could have gotten it on your phone or blackberry device. I'd be more a part of your life!

OK, so maybe that's more than you want. But you get the idea. Follow me on twitter.

The first time Pat White gains at least 8 yards from scrimmage on a play he'll be a permanent starter on offense. I give it until the 1st quarter of the first game.

Florida Sports Buzz: Miami Dolphins' rookie players make an impression

• Bowles said fifth-round safety Chris Clemons ''has been a pleasant surprise. He hasn't blown anything. And he's got great speed.'' Clemons should emerge as a second-team safety, with Tyrone Culver, and be an asset on special teams. One NFC personnel director predicted Clemons will be the under-the-radar standout of this draft class.

I've been saying this since draft day. Gibril who?

That's wishful thinking. White will be lucky if he sees any significant playing time in the first quarter...........of the season.

I did it!

I scored a perfect 6 out of 6! But I'm not bragging - one of the questions was, "What's the ocean on the east coast of the United States?"

I supposed I'll be sworn in in a few months. I've already made a list of goals that I'm ready to enact after my swearing in ceremony:

1) Be as good an immigrant as Cuban Menace.

2) Amend the constitution so foreign born citizens can become President (we'll call it the "Dodsworth Amendment."

3) Put up a border fence on the CANADIAN side with land mines, and a moat filled with man-eating crocodiles to stop the evil, leftist, European-style political ideas from wafting across our northern border and infecting this great country.

4) Eat some Apple Jacks.

I dreamt about the Dolphins a few nights ago. It was the present, but Don Shula was coach and Don Strock was the starting QB. Strock is now approximately 57 or 58 years old. But somehow it made perfect sense.

pac 12

this feed eats, my comment puked, and it was clean& about patrick turner.

yeeeessssss, jack ass sin in da house

ok 1 more time. even though turner had that sissy boy sanchez throwing to him and i think the pac 12 is all about beating up on smaller schools not nearly as competitive. i like patrick turner, height, hunger, now that he has a real qb in penne tossing him balls, he could very well be a star

Who do you think will be our top 4 recievers? I say 1-Ginn
3-Turner (yeah I said it no. 3)

I have seen this blog for awhile now. I have been a Dolfan for many years. My father got me into it and it just stuck with me. A lot of interesting stuff to read here and crazy posts. As you guessed it I am female. You ok with it?

I wouldn't call it a new topic. It's more like another DUD!

I would say.

Kara do these guys give you atought time when you come here?

I have seen this blog for awhile now. I have been a Dolfan for many years.

Me too. Every since I saw reruns of flipper. I just fell in love with Dolphins.

My father got me into it and it just stuck with me.

All my father ever did was make me pick cotton, fix cars and build houses.

A lot of interesting stuff to read here and crazy posts. As you guessed it I am female. You ok with it?

Females....that love the Dolphins........How could I resist.

Umm Not Really. They Just Really Like To Joke Around Oh And Yuu Might Want To Be Careful What You Say They Tend Too Twist Things It Dosent Seem Too Hard For Them Too Gett Carried Away.

Kara what do you mean by being careful?

It's a safe bet naming Bess as the third. I believe he's better than most people think. But I'm hoping Turner will be great.

I just hope Ginn does real well this year. He seems to get alot of bashing on here from you guys.

Some People Pretend To Be Other People Some Of Them Know Thier Football. Alott Of Them Dont. And Most Of Them Talk About Perversion Andd Racism.

-Kara- :p

Ginn gets bashed a lot because of the high pick Ca-moron used on him. He has improved steadily. Slowly but steadily. I don't know if he will ever be a true number 1, but I do know this will be his breakout year. Statistics show that the third years a charm for WR's.

Kara. How do I know who they say they are? How do I know who you are?

Lisa or Kara

Who will make up the starting backfield.
Would you girls like to try out for mine.

Where is this going?

No Thanx Perv.

-Kara- :p

I need to get some sleep. I may be back again.

C.M and aloco are vegans?

You really think 2 bimbos like lisa and Kara are are football fans, some dude is pulling your chain with this football talk!!! They both have Johnson's , beware of what you wish for!! Miami 24 -- Pitt 10 Week 17 will be a gift for the Phins as Pitt takes a rest for the playoffs!!!

Welcome Back!

Yo Mando, do something about these AHs who think their funny. PLEASE! Let's talk football, not BS.

You're blog is deteriorating and you know why.

I agree with Fake GM, let's get off this "J Allen is a bust" horse. It's been ridden so often the horse is about to die from exhaustion. Bad pick at #16, but he's a decent or good player, and you need all of those you can get on your football team.

Another article about him being a dissapointment at #16 and I will shoot the horse.

Why don't we all go to a hypnotist who can have us believe he was picked in the 5th round? Then we can all be content that Allen is what he is. A solid nickel back and special teamer.

I agree that Jason Allen was a bad pick at 16th overall. HOWEVER, as Barry Jackson recently mentioned in one of his columns, football guru KC Joyner rated 98 NFL cornerbacks (based on film study, not opinion), and Jason Allen was the 55th rated corner. That means that at worst, he grades out as an average nickelback in the NFL. You can bash the fact that he was a 1st round pick, but the guy is a functional NFL player, dont talk about him like he's out of the league.

J.T got good EXCLUSIVE interview with phinsider today .

Just signed in to the first blog in what seems like an eternity and found the decaying remains of what used to be an awesome Miami Dolphin blog. 3 pages of comments got me anxious to read people's thoughts only to find 2.5 pages of them didn't even relate to football let alone the Miami Dolphins. Too bad.

By the way, I'm still intrigued by Jason Allen's skill set. Until he becomes expensive, I think it's worth to see if he can become a force. At his size, he should be a monster playing the slot.

I dont think the problem with J. Allen is his physical skill set, it's the giant space between his ears that has prevented him from becoming a very good player. this of course is the smae thing which plagues 90% of the Jets roster.

Mark In Toronto

This blog deteriorates quick. The reason being Armando's neglect. All he cares about is the number of hits it gets. In the last week all he could come up with is Hartline signs. There were a number of FRESH topics in the Florida Sports Buzz: Miami Dolphins rookies make an impression. Armando simply doesn't feel the need to blog when his skimpy posts generates 9 pages of replies.
Instead of complaining Mark why don't post more often here. This place needs more fans willing to talk football. If your not part of the solution, your part of the problem.

odinseye that wasn't me earlier. if an acorn in the form of a rightguard falls do you think miami would sign or stick with what they have? miami is also keeping in contact with cb travis fischer. think he could be upgrade over green?

MJZ and Fake GM

I've called J Allen a bust repeatedly. I admit it's been mostly out of frustration. I believe you guys are right about people bashing him because of where he was picked. Much like the Ginn bashing that goes on here. These guys didn't draft themselves.
I originally thought J Allen would be a perrenial star in the NFL. I also think his collegiate career justified his draft status. However, for what ever reasons, instead of being a star it looks like he will be a perrenial backup.
Here in Miami it's going to come down to numbers and production. J. Allen will be the odd man out.

it's nice to see odinseye talking football even if he's talking to himself.
go dolphins

I do think Fischer would be an upgrade over J Allen or Green. However I don't believe anything like that will happen, I believe the front office is ready to stand pat with what have in the defensive backfield.
As for the RG spot I think your right on the money. A big part of the reason I believe in this front office is because of the positions they put themselves in. The were reserved(smart) in the free agent signings for just this reason. They wanted to leave themselves room to make an "immediate needs" move or two. If a solid RG with the right skillset and age becomes available, I think will pounce.
