Joey Galloway is playing for New England and neither Antonio Bryant nor Michael Clayton, Tampa Bay's starting wide receivers, are playing for the Buccaneers tonight.
So the Dolphins rookie cornerbacks may have to wait until the regular season for their first serious NFL test.
(Yes, I know New Orleans is a great passing team and Miami finishes the preseason there next week. But let's face it, the Saints aren't going to let their starters play too long in the final preseason game.)
So this is bad news. But it is also good news.
At minimum, both Sean Smith and Vontae Davis are getting broken in sloooowly. Remember that last week the Panthers kept both Steve Smith and Muhsin Muhammad -- their starters -- on the bench.
Anyway, the live blog starts in the comments section below. Let's get to it.

Freeman was HORRIBLE in college, in a conference of putrid Ds. If HE lights the Fins up, there truly is no hope.

Our second string is in...I like the pass rush tonite, but geez the pass defense...
Posted by: Hayden Fox | August 27, 2009 at 11:04 PM
penny is a very good qb w no arm
Posted by: Common Sense Phin | August 27, 2009 at 11:04 PM
henne is know for accuracy
Posted by: eddie from new england | August 27, 2009 at 11:05 PM
Hayden Fox, it seems like all the opposing QB needs to do is get the ball out of his hand and it'll be a completion against the Fins' D about 70% of the time.
Posted by: DolFan 316 | August 27, 2009 at 11:05 PM
He's done just fine with no arm. But it's gonna change this season.

I'm sorry I was away for a while folks. Was writing my column for the newspaper. I feel like a two-way player in high school.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 27, 2009 at 11:06 PM
He's the best weve had since Danny Boy
Posted by: Common Sense Phin | August 27, 2009 at 11:07 PM
This game has no good flow to it, defense is getting good work though.
Posted by: Standley23 | August 27, 2009 at 11:07 PM
By week 6 Pennington will be hurt Henne will be QB and White will be driving the Wildcat

If you have ADD, this is a tough game to watch.
Posted by: OK | August 27, 2009 at 11:08 PM
That's not saying much common sense...
Posted by: Marc | August 27, 2009 at 11:08 PM
If the Fins could somehow combine C-Penn's accuracy with Henne's arm they'd have a real NFL QB.
Posted by: DolFan 316 | August 27, 2009 at 11:08 PM
Did penny work on his arm strength this off season? I think i read that somewhere...
Posted by: Bat | August 27, 2009 at 11:08 PM
Time for Henne to amaze. If only his mind catches up to his arm.
Posted by: drbruce2 | August 27, 2009 at 11:08 PM
Quentin moses baby !with the pass rush
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | August 27, 2009 at 11:08 PM
Damn 54 just ran bess down
Posted by: Bat | August 27, 2009 at 11:09 PM
And if they could combine Bess's quickness with Ginn's sraight line speed they'd have a legit #1 WR too.
Posted by: DolFan 316 | August 27, 2009 at 11:09 PM
that punt return is the problem with Bess as a punt returner. He's very solid and dependable. But he's got no breakaway speed to turn the corner.

Freeman runs for 5...Our ILB's sucks. 1st pick in the draft next year will be an ILB, you heard it here 1st.

"So whos getting chopped tomorrow?"
Who ever is in at ILB right now.
Posted by: 5150 | August 27, 2009 at 11:10 PM
It is what it is. he's our great white hope
Posted by: Common Sense Phin | August 27, 2009 at 11:10 PM
NO push up the middle on that play :-(
Posted by: DolFan 316 | August 27, 2009 at 11:10 PM
I am truly hoping the Dolphins coaching staff is playing all its offensive cards close to the vest because the offense I'm seeing is just very vanilla.
It is the same offense I saw in practice for four weeks, but since practices are closed now, I'm thinking the good stuff is being installed leading up to the regular season.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | August 27, 2009 at 11:11 PM
He said SINCE Danny Boy Beeman, keep up retard ;)
Posted by: Marc | August 27, 2009 at 11:11 PM
The offensive line has not been good at all tonight. I'm guessing they will only improve, but how long has it been since we have had a dominant line? At least 15 years.
Posted by: OK | August 27, 2009 at 11:11 PM
Someone tell Pat White to straighten his hat...he looks like an idiot. He's supposed to be a professional.
Posted by: 5150 | August 27, 2009 at 11:11 PM
That sure was a quick posession. 20 seconds seemed like...

Man I'm getting old!!! These kids look young!!!!!!
Posted by: Dolfandad | August 27, 2009 at 11:11 PM
All we would like is what Hartline is doing right now... locker room, sitting, jogging, air cast, signing autographs>
Posted by: Hayden Fox | August 27, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Bat,
I read that Penne did. However, he looks off tonight. He had one awesome throw...55yds to Hartline in stride. Other than that he has been perfecting his short game...which was not impressive. Although, the O-line is part to blame.
Posted by: Finnatic | August 27, 2009 at 11:12 PM
Wow...ILB's make a play and stop the run...of course it was NOT CROWDER. Did I mention the CROWDER SUCKS.
Posted by: 5150 | August 27, 2009 at 11:12 PM
That's funny Mandy. You mean, the trickery we need to compete in the NFL?
Posted by: Marc | August 27, 2009 at 11:13 PM
This is sad
Posted by: Brett144 | August 27, 2009 at 11:13 PM
I'm 36 and I look as young as those "kids". I credit good genes and a stress-free (when I'm not watching the Fins that is) lifestyle :-)

Posted by: OK | August 27, 2009 at 11:13 PM
@dolfan 316 lol!! Good point!

TE#46 for the Bucs is getting cut tomorrow fo sho.
Posted by: DolFan 316 | August 27, 2009 at 11:14 PM
I'll take even an ugly win tonight if it contributes to morale.
Posted by: Johan | August 27, 2009 at 11:14 PM
The good thing about the 45min delay is few commercial breaks. wish every game was like dat.
Posted by: Lo | August 27, 2009 at 11:15 PM
i hope henne can do something here
Posted by: Bat | August 27, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Wait...that's still the starting O-line?
Posted by: Marc | August 27, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Where's the oline?
Posted by: Brett144 | August 27, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Hilliard will NOT get cut, because he does NOT SUCK like Crowder.
Posted by: 5150 | August 27, 2009 at 11:15 PM
This is still the starting O-line and there have been 0 holes.
Posted by: OK | August 27, 2009 at 11:15 PM
Is the O-line trying to get Hilliard cut? Absolutely ZERO blocking for him.
Never mind, they aren't blocking for Henne either.
Posted by: DolFan 316 | August 27, 2009 at 11:16 PM
It looked like Henne walked into that sack.
Posted by: Gary in NC | August 27, 2009 at 11:16 PM
henne looks lost too
Posted by: phinfan from birth73 | August 27, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Very scary this is the starting oline against the bucs second and third string. We can't block them.
