The Chargers are doing a great job of keeping the Dolphins in this one.
The team had five red zone trips last week and that resulted in four field goal and one giving up the ball on downs.
They have two red zone trips this week and have made a field goal and missed a field goal. They also fumbled inside the 20 yard to set up the Dolphins for Miami's lone score on a Dan Carpenter field goal.
So we're tied at 3-3 and it was encouraging for Miami to see the San Diego fans boo the home team off the field at halftime.

Looking like last week. The game is there for the taking and the Dolphins just don't seem to want it. Offense is last week's defense. One thing they need to do is get some new cleats for the defense. I lost count on how many people I saw fall down. At least they are getting pressure that is a good sign.

1) very good job by the D
2) play calling in red zone remains inept. Why can't we just score like anyone, with quick inside slants or corner fades?
Posted by: Yann | September 27, 2009 at 05:32 PM
i agree jax new cleats atleastwe held them to two fg tries for 3 pts we never seem to be able to get the offense and defense on the same page

Offence doesn’t get it done…….
New QB Next week.

If we end up losing this game, bc the offense struggles. The Henne era must began.
No ext. for noodle arm! Geeezz...

Some halftime stats:
first downs Miami 8, SD 10
Dolphins 114 net yards to 155 for SD.
Rush yards 68 for Miami to 19 for SD.
Miami has 25 plays on offense to SD 33.
Ronnie Brown has 12 carries for 58 yards
Pennington 6 of 9 for 46 yards.

Pennington can only do what he can do, but it's his limitations which force this nut-less coaching staff to be uber-conservative. that and the lack of a credible pass-catching threat who doesn't line up in the backfield.

ok we need some TDs. the drives are very encouraging. if we can keep them up eventually we will learn to finish those off.
Posted by: dave | September 27, 2009 at 05:35 PM
Lets play some Football!
Defense playing well...except WAllen falling down all over the place.
Ronnie running hard...need TDs not field goals this half.
GO DOLPHINS.
Posted by: O! | September 27, 2009 at 05:36 PM
You can't be explosive with constant checkdowns. This tells me they really don't confidence in Henne. Too bad.
Posted by: Phinswin? | September 27, 2009 at 05:36 PM
Offense better come out smoking!!!
Posted by: Po White Trash | September 27, 2009 at 05:37 PM
commercial breaks are getting worse and worse
we're on our way to stopping play on second down in order to go to break

And not weed!
Posted by: Po White Trash | September 27, 2009 at 05:37 PM
We are struggling but Chargers in even worse state. Confident we will grind it out in second half
Posted by: gareth | September 27, 2009 at 05:37 PM
Pat White can throw i promise. Watched him every week at VT. He needs to throw it next time instead of handing it off. He reminds me of Marino when he first came in and hard a hard time with the handoffs also. Chad needs to hook up with Camarillo more and somebody long. Camo will catch anything!

Posted by: finfan23 | September 27, 2009 at 05:39 PM
I don't understand putting camarillo back there.
He's not fast (return) and he's not big (blocking). Don't get that one.

That was not a pass but rather a rush for Bess.

Things I noticed in the MIA/SD 94 rerun on NFL network.
1. Marino was amazing.
2. I wondered why we never got Marino a running back. I mean, he elevated the play of ANY receiver on the field, but man, he would have been so much more dangerous if they didn't KNOW he would pass on every critical down.
3. We have not had a QB with either a quick release OR a decent arm in some time.
4. Miami's defense has sucked for so long. Even when it was dominating in the regular season, it sucked when it counted.
5. My two favorite teams, Miami Dolphins and Montreal Canadiens, have accomplished their most precious franchise accomplishments before I was born. When will you show me the money??
6. I hate Jimmy Johnson.
