Gibril Wilson stays, other stuff [Updated]

You might have read I called for Gibril Wilson's benching in the previous post. It's not going to happen, according to a team source who thinks I'm a dork for suggesting it.

Alrightie then.

I guess the Dolphins will continue to watch hidden yardage pile up if Wilson continues to miss tackles. I assume Wilson has been told to try to tackle guys low rather than have bigger, better players plow him en route to the end zone.

One coach doing his best so that Wilson doesn't continue to struggle is his Pop Warner coach.

"My Pop Warner coach called me after the game," Wilson said. "When your Pop Warner coach calls you, you know you didn't tackle well."

The Dolphins worked this afternoon on their outdoor practice fields. the team did work on tackling, according to coach Tony Sparano.

I've been watching for indications of a hangover from the Monday night game throughout this week.

I'll be watching for frustration, for depression, for the team looking physically or emotionally spent. I'll report those to you as the week progresses. On the other hand, I'll also report if such things are not apparent.

One thing that stuck out during the portion of practice open to the media: During individual passing drills Chad Pennington threw a pass to Greg Camarillo that was too low and somewhat out of the receiver's reach.

Camarillo merely punched the ball to the ground and proceded to kick it in disgust. No big deal, but it seemed odd to me at such an early stage in practice.

Speaking of receivers, rookie Brian Hartline was walking around the locker room with a pronounced limp. Seemed something was wrong with one of his feet. We'll see if he's on the injury report later.

Receiver Ted Ginn continues to answer questions about his missed touchdown catches and he is making no excuses. I asked him if he was interfered with on the fourth-quarter pass from Chad Pennington.

"No, he didn't," Ginn told me. "I should have come down with the catch. Point blank. Point blank. He made a great play. I'm not going to say this or say that. I just got to come down with the catch."

Ginn said he's never had a similar moment when he had a game-winning pass in his hands and dropped it.

"Never had one -- that's my first one," Ginn said. "It's just something I got to put to the side. I'm still going to remember it and try to work to be better."

In working to get better, Ginn is listening to advice from his family much the same way Wilson is hearing from his Pop Warner coach.

"I got a father," Ginn said. "He talks to me as well as coaches here. He said if you get that opportunity again, you just got to make the best for you and your team. Next time that comes up, I can't say I'm going to take a different approach, but I've learned."

By the way, Ginn did have two potential TD catches glance off his hands, the first in the first half. He said he misjudged the ball on the first potential TD pass he might have had.

"Misjudged," Ginn said. "Misjudged. I thought I was closer to the out of bounds. [I was] farther than what I was. A receiver wants to come out with every catch. That's two I missed."

San Diego quarterback Phillip Rivers was just on a conference call with the Miami media. He talked about the two years he spent on the pine while Drew Brees played ahead of him.

"It was tough," Rivers said. "I wanted to get out there and play from a competitive standpoint, but looking back on it now, I benefitted. But after two years, there was so much improvement I could make any more. I needed to play. I needed to get in games.

"After 25 games, I needed to play football again."

Obviously Chad Henne has sat for 18 games with the Dolphins so far.

Finally, offensive tackle Vernon Carey was limited in practice today, according to the injury report, with a knee injury.

A cancer to a team is chronically LOSING! Give me ALL the crybabies, Brandon Marshall, T.O., Ocho Cinco, Cutler, DeAngelo Hall....I don't want some Mormon bible-thumping, good-character guys...I want hard-hitting, talented animals!

What play of the other two QB's? Henne hasn't played yet and White has come in and handed the ball off a couple of times?
The running game was great, The O line was great, the D line was good, the secondary was awful and we had no passing game....over 10 yards...the crowd was great, they played smash mouth, take it to the guts football, it was a great game to watch....would have been greater if we threw the ball to Bess, Hartline and Cam instead of Ginn and even better if we had a QB with an arm that scared the defense....Pennington is a swell guy! A good leader with average skills...but he's not the future of this team and he is not a playmaker....I've been a fan since 1971....read the book the one two punch in highschool about the fins...I'll be a finfan till the end.....but the fact is, we need a hero! We need a franchise big play maker QB!

Being from Indy I know that was a tough loss, I have endured many from the fakeriots. If you want an objective opinion, your wildcat torched our D, we;re not the best but usually better than that. Your problem is this, Peyton thrives on torching weak linebackers and secondary. You have many. Pennington is not to blame. Blame the guys that couldn't cover my sister.

I don't get this Genious Parcells stuff?
Eric Green
Ernest Wilfork or Wilford or whatever
Jake Long at #1 as an ex o-line coach you think he could get Sparono to coach up a 2nd or 3rd rounder and ad som picks or mybe have taken Ryan?
Crowder rewarded? Please!
Henne?
Romo?

He's good but I don't know just thinkin?

Marc , exactly how many super bowls did all those crybabies and cancer's win. ? That's right ZERO ! You can have them.

I agree with you Gary. Pennington is not the problem. the receivers need to catch. Pricemaster you are an assclown go stick your head back in the sand were you cant hurt yourself.

Here are my thoughts:

1. Penne is a good qb; he is smart and dependable; however he can't throw deep or short with any velocity. That means the dbs have enough time to correct any separation/coverage before the ball gets there. Watch his throws compared to any other qb (nfl or college). Their throws come out like cannons and fast and good trajectory- his balls are flat, wobbly and slow. He was the right qb last year, not now.

2. Why not Henne? Let's see what he can do or not. If he sucks, then we can get one this year (hopefully); but let's not wait another year. And how can he not be ready, if Pat White gets to play (or not play).

3. I think Ginn is ok-just not the right guy with this qb. I think he would be better-not perfect-but better with a stronger qb. But he does play like too soft.

4. The defense lost the game on monday- not ginn, not fasano, not even penne. And the coaches played too tight of a game-terrible.

5. If we are in a rebuild then lets play some of these guys and see what they can really do. And if we lose, which we will probably lose anyhow, then we can get a higher draft pick.

I could not agree more with Armando. Wilson's job as a safety is to stop the bleeding, not getting brushed off like a fly by a Tight End. That's precisely the point of having a defensive back deep - cut the gains short.

Frist of all everybody needs to get off of Chad Pennington. He made the throw to take the led near the half that Anthony Fasano dropped (no wounder Fasano's not a bigger part of the offence). Chad made the throw at the end of the game to win and Ginn dropped it. He managed the game and gave us the chance to win that's what a good QB does.

Second, the defenceive line did not apply enough pressure that true, but it was the secondary (mostly Gabril Wilson) that coust the game.

Parcells is a football great, but he and Sparano need to learn when to except a mistake with regards to personal. Ginn is a good number 2 reciver thats it and Wilson is not playing like a starter so sit him down.

I don't usally post here or any where but the fins lost that game because of refuseal to except that some of the players that are out there aren't doing their jobs. so sit them out till they start to show up at game time.

Well, Wilson and Torbor both have SB rings...Coulda fooled me...You can take them back

I JUST UPDATED THE BLOG AGAIN WITH REACTION FROM GIBRIL WILSON AND TED GINN JR.

It was interesting to me so check it out.

Marc , WHAT ? we were talking about marshall and crybabies and cancers like TO , Cutler , etc. What the hell does wilson and torbor have to do with that ?

You said that none of those crybabies have SB rings, which may be true, but any of them are better than the scrubs we go after in FA...Anyway, got $h!t to do.

Well . none of those guys ( ocho cinco , cutler ,hall and marshall ) were ever free agents. Only TO , and god knows you don't want that guy near your team. That ends that argumaent, See ya marc !

Good to hear from the Ginn Family again.

BTW, Camerillo is expendable.

Maybe ginn should stop listening to his family , but i know Gibril wilson SHOULD listen to his pop warner coach . He can teach him the fudamentals of tackling. :}

I'm a Fin fan good or bad but next week is going to be fugly I hate to say.

Parcels big mistake was in not taking Ryan at QB. Pennington is limited and what you need at QB is a Tom Brady type, tall, good reads, fast release and able to throw long with accuracy. Veron Carey is just average and they gave him mega dollars. The game has passed Parcels by as he has never like young QB's but they are the way to go if you get the right one.

Henne has sat for 19 games including the Playoff loss. Btw...CROWDER SUCKS!

Jakester, Did you see the T.O. drop?

NJ PHIN FAN HAS NO CLUE .HE LOVES ALL THE F..KING LOSERS LIKE FASANO, MOSSES AND WILSON .HE'S FULL OF HOT AIR.HE SHOULD STICK WITH PLUMBING

First and foremost you people who claim Henne should step I'm or he won't be the future QB, read Philip Rivers quote about how looking back he realizes how he benefited by being on the bench for close to two years...Second, I'm glad this organization doesn't destroy it's players like a bunch of you want..Gibril had a horrible game, I agree but does that mean benching him after two games??? NO it doesn't...if the coaches believe he has the talent and can make adjustment then he deserves more then two stinkin games...and Ginn made no excuses, shoulda caught the ball... So all you fake bandwagon jumping fans, we've spent too long wasting draft picks and looking for immdiate fixes that have cost us years of suffering...I love the professionism of a staff that sees where it's going and doesn't listen to hysterical fans and newspaper columnists with their reckless win now at all costs attitudes with no regards for building a long term winner...GO PHINS

Im sorry, but yes CP is a gamer and he usually takes great care of the football. With that being said there is a reason he has the highest completion%. He averaged 5yds per catch on monday nite. That a freakin extended handoff you will never win nor get to the SB with those type of numbers.I think CP has been great for us to have had for the last yr but we must move on already at somepoint the training wheeels has to come off.We have drafted 2 qbs with 2nd rd pks cmon alrdy lets get one of these guys in and turn the page. While I know we wont and will settle for 9wins and no plyoffs it just sucks because it has been to long since the last SB appearance.

Hate to say it but I have to agree with Colts fan 100%. They could not guard their own shadows on Monday night!

In response to:

question
if we really go in the toilet
2-14 ?
3-13 ?
should we trade henne and go after bradford ?
----------------------------
Are you Crazy!! Trade Henne and go for Bradford!? I wouldn't want a rookie QB to jump in the fire and know only half the plays. Henne already knows the playbook and just needs to get on the field, which we all know WILL BE next year (Unless we tank it and go 0-8). Would you want a starter that doesn't know all the plays, or someone who knows the whole playbook?

**Have to agree with jdw "Get a clue before you post."

WIN, LOSE, OR TIE, DOLPHINS TILL I DIE!!! GO PHINS!!!

Everybody needs to get a grip. Deep breath, calm thoughts!!!!
If Ginn makes that catch, everybody's talking Super Bowl. It's a F@$K FEST in Miami.
There are a couple of problems here but Penny aint ALL of it. Our ILB's and Safties have been exposed two weeks in a row. SOMETHING needs to be done. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rookie or not, Clemons is a gamer. A beast. Mark it down, he'll be a star.
For the positives, ie, the big picture: Our Offensive line. Everyone wants to whine and cry when we had a rough opener. They're doing more than just coming together now. They dominated. Nobody wants to give them props? WTF. With a running game like we had Monday we can dictate to opposing defenses.
A tweak here and there on defense and were there!
No need for panic people.

Had the poster of louis and jarvis in front of the B2 bomber any body, remember?

I'm curious to see what Clemons can do. Why is Ginn taking so much heat. Yeah, he should have come down with the ball, but I thought Fasano had a better chance on the previous play. Why isn't he taking any heat?

What's up Fin Fans...This is my first blog on this site but I have been reading everything for a while now. I'm a huge Miami fan from California...show some love:) It's lonely out here...someday I will make it out to Miami to watch my first Live Dolphins game.

I feel like Wilson played as bad as you can.He missed big tackles for TDs, and that can't happen when your the last line of defense. The guy just wasn't focused at all...Look at the INT he blew before the half.We have to make those plays.Wilson has to step it up. I guess he can't get much worse ha

I think a lot of people are more mad at Ginn then the Defense...Our Defense was lost and out played in only 15 min of offense by the Colts. We need more pressure from JP and JT.I don't know where to start with the LB's...they can't cover a TE to at all. However, one bright spot on Defense was the play of our Rookie CB, Sean Smith...he did an outstanding job against one of the best WR in the game. The kid is ready to play and learn every week. With all this being said...our Defense can play better then this.

As far as Ted Ginn...the kid played well but not great. Good players drop that catch...Great player make that catch.Ginn has only one yard after the catch, and we need more effort and heart(or balls) ha However, I thought CP could of made a better pass on the first Ginn TD attempt and the Fasano TD attempt. Both would of been great catches. The last throw to Ginn at the end of the game...that play has to be made. You gotta want to become a great player...Ginn has to make that catch.CP put that ball where it needed to be.

I thought our coaches failed us at the end in our 2 min drill...why weren't we in shotgun? I also thought our coaches played to not lose at the end, instead of playing to win. If you don't have faith in your players then they won't have faith in themselves.

I was so down about our offensive Line in week one...Sorry for all the bad things I said fellas:) They really showed a lot of heart and response to a poor first game. Jake did a lot better, but still has work to do.

I read a lot about people wanting to put in Henne for CP...I don't know if that's the way to go. CP did a good job last year, and helped turn things around from a 1-15 season.I agree that CP can't make that deep throw with enough strength and power. I don't think Henne is the way to go though. Even if we did put him in...do we have a WR that can make the big catch?

Ok sorry this was so long...it was my first time ha ha luv ya Fin fans...keep your heads up. I hope to see you all soon at my first live Miami game. Someday I will make it out to Miami to watch my Dolphins play in Land Shark.

I see alot of you saying to trade GINN you must be nuts.

GINN played about 35 to 40 games. every time he gets passes his way he has big games.

You can't think he will do well with 5 passes thrown his way.

He got open and for the most part made the catch.

FOR ALL THOSE WHO NEVER MISSED a SHOT or STRUCKED OUT OR DROP A PASS YOU CAN THROW THE FIRST STONE.

ok...so can we stop blaming CP now. Ginn admits he should have both end zone passes. He dropped one and misjudged the other. The problem is not the QB.

Ginn was just being the bigger man by not blaming his QB. He also beat himself up because he's a pro and WANTED to make those plays! Um, last I checked Cutler was on the trading block as well as DeAngelo Hall last year. and uh, I'd take T.O. ANY DAY! (I guarantee he'd put Penny on blast in a post-game interview, and that's EXACTLY what needs to happen. )Ocho Cinco wasn't, but, he obviously wanted out. Those were just a few examples; The guy with 9 TD's already stands out. Point is, have we EVER hit in FA? Or do we just go after mediocre talent and trade away the likes of Ogunleye, Madison, Knight, Surtain, McMichael, Chambers, Welker, Cox. You get the idea. Ricky was good, but, then he almost single-handedly ruined the franchise. How many QB's have we passed on in the past decade? How is it that THE MOST important position on the field gets overlooked for TEN YEARS plus! I have a gut feeling that neither White nor Henne is the answer either. In fact, it seems like through all his tutoring Henne has developed a mean check-down!

Marc

What? Are you out of your mind? Didnt you have shit to do then to repeat your ignorant claims of all the Cancerous players you wish you had...Cutler will never play for this organization not while the Tuna is running it.

And if you think you know more than the Tuna, what are you waiting for sign yourself up. Geez-Ginn the bigger man...so hes not just saying it because he feels that way, but because he wants to be the bigger man? LOL

Downer12 , welcome aboard. That was a very insightful and studious post. Don't worry about being a lonely dolphin fan in cali . You haveplenty of dolphin fan friends here. Keep coming back.

UHHHHHH ! Marc , they were on the trading block uhhh ! not free agents. Uhhh ! you were talking about how bag this regime was with free agents . Uhhh ! that's totally different. Uhhhh 1 you would have to give up valuabe draft picks for these clowns.

The rest of your post about ginn being a pro and being the bigger man and taking the blame is 100% correct. Also deangelo hall suks !

Pennington is the man for the job right now he will get the job done he'll throw 40 plus yards 3-5 times a game the rest of the time he'll take what the defense gives him and not turn over the ball he is very smart and acrate QB but WRs and TEs need to catch the ball and make some YAC, remember Mannnig tossed most of his passes short to Mid range he only had a couple of 40 plus passes but his WRs and TEs are big, tough, and fast.
We on the other hand had soft small and one fast WRs starting, key word starting, Love the dolphins but we have to deal with reality we need to make some changes at key positions weather it's by getting some other players more time or trades somthing has to change or we are in for sad long season
Now the Defense, I blame some players but mostly coaching for the abortion that's going on that said of the ball as a former LB/DE I can tell you that our Starting LB are no match these elite TEs as in Gonzales, Clark, and coming up Gates each one presents unqiue challage but let's talk about the next one we face Gates this Guy is a big fast WR key word Fast we should use Porter or JT and JAM the shit out of him on the line and then let Smith or Davis pick him up in covrage this TE is fast and can jump so I would perfer Smith he's alot taller the coaching staff should of made this ajustment but have Failed they are in denial thinking our MLB,FS,SS can deal with it in the last two games and two loseses no ajustments, these are coaching issue's most of our guys are very talented just miss useded and miss matched also some of the talent we have on the bench needs to get in the game Wake needs to be in the game More and give JT a rest and it be good for a change of pace how about having all of guy's up front moving around before the snap including MLB,FS,SS, in stead of telegraphing the blitz and coverges because manning eat us up with predictable plays on Defense, Bring in the backups at FS and SS someone has to stepup in those two postions we are getting housed there. these two guys have had to games to step up and have not a change is needed lack of talent for sure. Fin fans don't lose hope but! push for change!!

Typo: How BAD this regime is with free agents.

WHAT'S GOOD NJ FIN FAN

CUT Wilson and Trade Ginn! Carey needs to perform of his fat butt might need to go too!!!

why trade GINN

I'm starting to get on Cuban Menace's Ted Ginn bandwagon... this guy goes directly to the ground every time he catches the ball... pretty soon he's gonna start falling as soon as the ball is released so he will already be down by the time it gets there...

BTW

Rex Ryan is one fat bastard

Here's a stat from monday nights game that says it all and is tough to swallow. The dolphins missed 7 tackles for 154 yards on run after the catch yards. Disgusting and inexcusable !

All you have said, doesn´t matter. All we need is 10 field goals, `cause that`s the ONLY way we have to win this game.
3&1 we run the ball, field goal
3&5 we run the ball, field goal
3&12 guess what...YEA we run the ball!!!. and field goal
3&34... do i have to write you again!!??? an of course field goal.
TD´S??? , who cares, we are done with a field goal.
"Sparano"

Could we have a NORMAL coach??...
I feel sick...

This just in from espn and nfl network , Gibril wilson just missed another tackle.

LMAO!

BESIDES FOR THE 80 YARD TD WHAT OTHER TACKEL DID WILSON MISS.

Opps my bad "TACKLE" before the school teachers put me in time out.

what is the dolpins song

Are you kidding me ? Lets see , Rb Donald brown bowling him over for a td , clark's td and the missed tackle on the game winning td by garcon, Is that enough ?

What exactly is it that qualified Sparano to be a head coach in the NFL?
The fact that he had never done it before?

song they sing after a TD I'M FROM DELAWARE I DON,T KNOW

PRICEMASTER:

Who had experience in anything before they first did it.

You take your first steps and before you know it not only are you walking your running but not only that but you catch yourself when you trip.

How can y'all blame Chad? Twice, he threw catch-able balls with plenty of zip, and our receivers couldn't get it done. Actually 3 times, counting Ginn's first quarter short armed no-catch "misjudged" in the endzone.
Bad call on 3rd down, as Cote mentioned. bStillworse was the egregiously bad defense by our linebackers and secondary, not to mention any sustained pressure on Manning. On the pass to Garcon (the waiter)Manning had at least 8 seconds. Way too much time, especially in an obvious passing situation. Where's Taylor, Wake..only Porter seemed 1/2 interested in the where-abouts of Mr. Peyton Manning.

Yesterday,I said if Wilson starts 'gainst S.D.,sum1should get shot or maybe fired...I believe in 2nd chances but when u kill u go to jail and this man, along with his co-d Ginn, killed any chance to win.
