A couple of days ago I shared with you what Calvin Pace said about the Dolphins and their Wildcat package. If you don't recollect, the New York Jets linebacker said, "I can't respect that stuff," and he called Wildcat so much "nonsense."
"They nonsensed their ass all the way up and down the field," linebacker Channing Crowder responded today. "Nonsense, I love nonsense. They say gimmick, gimmick this, gimmick that. We've won games with the Wildcat. They ran two fake punts. So if you're going to say gimmicks, those are real gimmicks. Wildcat is an offensive formation, they run it for two years. They have thousands of plays on film about it, go stop it.
"Shut up about all the junk talking and whatever they're talking about they ain't going to give us no credit. We'll see them in three more weeks, we got to play them again, so the hell with them."
Today you get the response from the Dolphins because it is the first day players are available to the media following a night game Monday and an off day Tuesday.
"What did Calvin Pace say?" nose tackle Jason Ferguson asked when I asked him if he heard what Pace had said. Then I told him.
"Wow, really?" Ferguson responded. "Who is this guy? What's his name again? Ain't he a rookie or something? Isn't that the rookie from Ohio State? Or you talking about the guy from Arizona? Yeah, ok, it's cool, if that's what he sees. It ain't nothing. That's how ya'll want to treat it, it's cool. You'll see it again in two weeks. No comments here. I'm good. I'll stay away from that one. He's fooling himself.
"I got nothing for Calvin. I don't even know that dude. I'll let him have his battle with the Wildcat. It looks like he lost already."
Ronnie Brown ran six times for 32 yards out of Wildcat against the Jets. he also completed a 21-yard pass to Anthony Fasano out of Wildcat. So what does Brown think of Pace's opinion?
"He has his own opinion and the biggest comment on that is we're all afraid of what we do not understand," Brown said with his patented smile. "I guess that's the situation there. It works for us. We enjoy it. We do it. It's part of our package. And if it's not broken don't fix it so we're not going out to try to change it because a guy isn't happy about what we're doing.
"Coming into the game we're watching how they blitz and we were like, 'OK we'll just sit back and play football then and let's see who has the tougher 11 people on the field.' "
That's a great point. Seems some people around the NFL think Wildcat is a gimmick, finesse thing used by a team that can't win blocking battles hand-to-hand. It is quite the opposite. It is a physical, in-your-face attack.
"What I really think I'm not going to say, honestly, because we play in a couple of weeks," guard Justin Smiley said. "I have a lot of respect for Calvin Pace because I think he's a heck of a football player. But the one thing I am going to say is we have game upon games of game film to watch. People know what we run.
"We're not running Statue of Liberties out of Wildcat. We're running base and power. You have to stop it. You have to stop it, and until you stop it, nothing's going to change. That's the way we approach it. One-on-one, man-on-man, and whatever anybody wants to say about it, that's their opinion. But until you stop it, nothing's going to change."
By the way, Channing Crowder (ankle) and Joey Porter (hamstring) did not practice today. Coach Tony Sparano said Porter played 52 plays and his hammy is sore. The coach plans to give various players practice time off this week.
Also, as I reported first on twitter (over there on the left hand side of this page) the Dolphins worked out former University of Miami and New Orleans Saints TE Buck Ortega today.

Calvin can eat some wildcat dookie. What a sore looser another bum on the Jets roster he needs to learn how to respect it first before trying to stop it.

It's all gravy. We could just as easily run the I formation and dominated them on the line. Must be frustrating when other people are better then what you're best at

This is what Kris Jenkins of the Jets had to say in the New York Post: finally a Jet with some common sense!!
Baltimore transplants Rex Ryan and Bart Scott taught the Jets not only defense, but trash talking. Kris Jenkins thinks it may be time to take a step back from the chatter and save some energy for the field.
"It makes us look like as long as the coach is saying something and the guys are running their mouths then everything is good," Jenkins told SNY’s Steve Overmyer after the team’s 31-27 loss to the Dolphins last night. "The time to be talking is with your pads and nobody did."
The Dolphins amassed 413 yards against Ryan’s once top-ranked defense last night in the AFC East showdown that dropped the Jets into a tie for first with the Patriots. It was the Jets’ second straight loss after a 3-0 start under Ryan in his rookie season as coach.
He and Scott in particular were not shy about boasting how well the team was playing. Ryan took blame for not having his defense prepared Monday, and Scott had his worst game since joining the Jets.
"Everybody talked when it came to running their mouth in the paper. When we were winning everyone was talking about how good we’ve been doing and 'Look at me,' but when we lose nobody got nothing to say," Jenkins said. "My feelings are hurt because a lot of people consider me a team leader, but I don’t want to hang my hat on that. I don’t want to hang my hat on games where guys aren’t playing together and stuff like that.
"And I have to take a responsibility, too. Maybe I am not doing something. Maybe I got something to work on as well."
Ryan said he did not have his team ready for the Dolphins' Wildcat formation.
"I think the preparation was great," Jenkins said. "I think we just laid an egg. I think that was it. It’s definitely gut-check time and I guess we got a dose of shut up, that’s why I can’t talk. I can’t even find the words for this."

Jenkins is the Lone Jet I've seen quoted after the game who acted like a Man, not a whiny ass titty baby. Figures, since he's 3x the player Pace is.

Mando as always you are only trying to get the worst information available out to us fans and in no word you comment or even mention players like Kris Jenkins who also dont like the stuff:
Defense didn't back up talk (NY Post)
Baltimore transplants Rex Ryan and Bart Scott taught the Jets not only defense, but trash talking. Kris Jenkins thinks it may be time to take a step back from the chatter and save some energy for the field.

We must face fact. The referees will be our biggest challenge on Nov 1st. Remeber who told you first<<<
Posted by: Ericatl | October 14, 2009 at 02:56 PM
Looks like the Jests are starting to fall apoart internally. Did anyone hear that type of talk from Miami when we were 0-3, NO. That is LOSER talk and the Jests are and always will be classless morons, just like their coach, who would not even say Henne's name and refused to give Miami any respect. Take away the bogus pass interference penalty at the end and Miami kills the Jests. We will see them again in 3 weeks and I am sure Miami will remember how Ryan and the Jests spoke after the game.

Good for Kris Jenkins, finally somebody acting like a man on the Jets.

A friend tells me Phins looking at Buck Ortega?
Posted by: sammydolfan | October 14, 2009 at 02:59 PM
Yeah they said the samr ting about the "WestCoast Offense". That it was chicken crap, dink and dunk, pass on running downs. That it was weak. Only made superstars out of Montana, Rice, Craig, Waters, Young, Favre. They also called the coach (i forget his name right now a genius). Widcat is more impressive because you run it down their throats and impose your will. Have you noticed the posture of the opposing defenses by the end of the third quarter? Way to coaching staff.
Go Phins!

Smiley is right, be calm and say nothing. They do have to play them again in a few weeks. Pace was out played this last game. He should have just said what Jenkins said, very little. I'm not quite sure why it is still being considered a gimmick play though. Or for that matter, why it ever was. Yet, the fake punts were merely a stroke of genius. My thinking here is, if it is done within the white lines and no flag is thrown, it's a legal play. The Dolphins O-line is seemingly picking up speed as the season moves along though. It would be nice if the secondary could do the same.

Armando, do you think Teddy Ginn could be like Leon Washington running back kicks for the Dolphins, is that guy sneaky fast or what!! he put a nice ol' hit on Crowder too even though it was blindside!! Can you imagine starting outside of our own 20 yd line once in awhile. We'd be unstoppable.
Posted by: Mass Fish Fan | October 14, 2009 at 03:19 PM
Before Monday nights game, Fat-boy Rex, said that he would be wearing 77(jenkins),emphazing that he is the Jets Defense.
Looks like the only gimmick is Rex Ryan.
Jets will only be the Champs of OTAs. haha

Jet smart, why don't you look back one year ago when we beat you at your own home in the snow. We beat you than for the playoff clinch why would you think we wouldn't have beaten you now. Your an idiot and just like the rest if the Jers fans, your the epidomy of obnoxiousness. You put all of your hopes and dreams into your QB because he won three games. Listen If you want to know who has better players I suggest you watch a re-run of Monday nights game. Until you wise up and use proper English instead of the broken up crap that you try and get by with stay off of OUR (Miami Fans) blog. And your an idiot for thinking that the blob you call coach could out smart us. We weren't ready fir Henne to step in. It was placed infrint of us and what did we do, we tore your team up, limb from limb. We plated with the cards we were dealt and we just so happen to draw a royal flush. So go be an idiot somewhere else. And bye the way J-E-T-S Suck Suck SUCK. Let's go Miami.
Posted by: Bsingeton | October 14, 2009 at 03:33 PM
I'm there too, Mando. That game is sooo good it's worth bootlegging and selling at the local gas station for $5 a disc. /sarc
But seriously, that game was the best I've seen out of the Dolphins since the playoff game against the Colts a few years ago.

THE JET LOSERS ARE STILL HURTING FROM BEING ELIMINATED FROM THE PLAYOFFS IN 2008. THEN MONDAY NIGHT ON PRIME TIME THE DOLPHINS KNOCKED THEM OUT OF SOLE POSSESION OF AFC EAST LEAD.GUESS YOU COULD SAY THE JETS ARE LOSERS AND ALL THEY KNOW TO DO IS CRY AND MAKE EXCUSES.LOOKING FORWARD TO OUR NEXT GAME WITH THEM WHEN TYLER THIGPEN GIVES THEM ANOTHER LESSON RUNNING THE " GIMMICK " GO PHINS
Posted by: Jim E | October 14, 2009 at 03:46 PM
Now I have to say Jenkins was the only player with an intelligent and TRUE answer to the question. The Dolphins have been running the Wildcat since week 3 last season and ran it 4 games this season before playing the jets.
Definition of GIMMICK: a concealed, usually devious aspect or feature of something, as a plan or deal.
How does that apply to the Wildcat? Sour grapes don't taste too good unless you make them into wine. The bottom line here is very simple. The jest knew they would see the Wildcat. They knew we were going to run the ball. They knew and they couldn't stop it. Deal with reality. The offensive line kicked the crap out of the defensive line. Plain and simple. I hope they keep talking though...it'll make the next game even more intense.

Who is Calvin Pace? Is he is the fan with the fireman helmet? Did he invent Pace Picante salsa? Surely he can not be a Jets player because I didn't hear he name or number called out during the game.

Rex Ryan batter coach? I agree, pancake batter....he just loves it. He can't wait for it to go in the pan, just drinks it from a bowl.

Zucchini,
I do not eat monkey, but I like the scene in Indiana Jones Temple of Doom when they get serve monkey brain still in head with skull as bowl. Maybe you should try it this way.
You should enjoy the fruits of this land and learn to eat thing like snapper, stone crab, spine lobster, beef steak, fry chicken, and even sometime vegetable too.

First, kill monkey. Next, scoop brains out of head and reserve for desert. Throw monkey away and go to fast food joint.

Did you ask them about Pace calling Chad Henne a clown quarterback....what would he mean by that anyway????
Posted by: Mass Fish Fan | October 14, 2009 at 04:29 PM
We can do a shot for every time Pace is pushed 5 yards backwards off the line of scrimmage. I'm in til I pass out from the dozen or so shots done by 9:00.
