It wasn't pretty. It wasn't a dominant performance. But it counts.
And so the Dolphins delivered a 25-23 victory Sunday in what reminds of victories over Seattle and Buffalo and St. Louis and San Francisco a year ago.
These are not masterpieces. But they are also not Ls.
The Dolphins had to drive 77 yards in five plays that took 1:04 to take the final two-point lead. The only reason those heroics were necessary is because quarterback Chad Henne threw an interception that set the Bucs off on a 26-yard drive that gave them a 23-22 lead.
Regardless, it is a victory.
And that's important because the Dolphins find themselves with a 4-5 record and in second place in the AFC East. The Dolphins and Jets both have 4-5 records but Miami beat New York twice this year.

What's the update with Ronnie Brown???

199yds rushing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: roid rage | November 15, 2009 at 04:20 PM
One down, 7 more wins to go!!!!
Posted by: Tommya | November 15, 2009 at 04:21 PM
WOW why would they call a pass play with under two minutes and your up?
Posted by: beerphin | November 15, 2009 at 04:21 PM
My god this team is ridiculous, it was 19-6 at half...coach sparano has to change his halftime speech
Posted by: zach | November 15, 2009 at 04:21 PM
Mando the good news is we have a quaterback who got us back to win after a bad play. He looked good on that last drive.
Posted by: Orange County | November 15, 2009 at 04:21 PM
I'd just like to point out that that was no cakewalk...As I said earlier this week...Also, Sean Smith still disappoints...new TE is impressive...Stop that wildcat crap. Henne can make the throws, and I hope Brown is OK...All said, at least we squeeked one out...Mandy. The win doesn't buy any more time for me. This staff sucks
Posted by: Marc | November 15, 2009 at 04:22 PM
yea really...will ronnie be ok???
Posted by: zach | November 15, 2009 at 04:22 PM
The coaches deserve to be taken out back and shot.
What kinda of plays were they calling?
Let Henne throw the damn ball, enough of these 5 yrd outs
Ginna drops another pass that had TD potential and slips outta bounds on another important one that eventually became an incomplete pass
I have no idea why the coaches perform the duties they do, wasted time outs, terrible play calling, again with the 'pistol' they are firing blanks and asking Henne to clean up all thier mistakes
Posted by: mR742 | November 15, 2009 at 04:22 PM
What can they do to fix defense? where waa Patrick Turner? Will they not be so sczophrenic next week?
Posted by: David | November 15, 2009 at 04:23 PM
Is there any news on Ronnie Brown?
Posted by: NY Phins | November 15, 2009 at 04:23 PM
Man can we do this with out Ronnie? I thinks loosing him is going to hurt. F@Ck No more WildCat
Posted by: Alex | November 15, 2009 at 04:23 PM
We have no playmaker receivers, sorry chad! He's gonna b a good QB if we get him help, our OL is looking below average!!!
Posted by: Quietstorms3x | November 15, 2009 at 04:23 PM
Surely Wildcat is gone if Ronnie is done for season as some reports are suggesting?
Henne has some poise when under pressure. He shouldn't have to bring us back late in the fourth but he's getting good at it.
Posted by: John (Scotland) | November 15, 2009 at 04:24 PM
And to boot
Bess drops another punt
The coaches have absolutely no idea how to close a game
Posted by: mR742 | November 15, 2009 at 04:24 PM
Look, the WR's finally caught the passes at the end of the game. That's a HUGE turnaround... Henne screwed up, but made the passes they needed to win the game. And Wake proved, once again, that he needs more playing time.
Oh yeah, Joey Porter is definitely not needed.
Posted by: Tommya | November 15, 2009 at 04:24 PM
Pistol needs to be kept in the holster!
Let Henne run this offense full time. We did not miss Porter at all.
Posted by: Orange County | November 15, 2009 at 04:25 PM
Henne did his thing in the last drive. Wow. Great last drive go phins.
Posted by: Phinsfan619 | November 15, 2009 at 04:25 PM
I don't really care that we won this game, we have a lot of problems. The last play says it all; how do you throw an interception when you're trying to run out the clock? I agree with throwing it to try to get a 1st down and not giving them the ball back with 2 mins left. But for God's sake, come up with a different play.
I'm very disappointed in our team and its pattern of starting out strong and fizzling in the 4th quarter. We're going nowhere.
Posted by: FB | November 15, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Now let me go fry up some victory fish for dinner tonight!! Go Fins!!
Posted by: Tommya | November 15, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Why do we go conservative in the second half? We stop rushing the QB and applying pressure. That made Freeman look good. He is talented, but in the first half we pressured him into looking less impressive.
Posted by: John (Scotland) | November 15, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Henne showed a lot of guts that last drive. Henning can hit the door and take ginn with him. Play calling in crucial times has been horrendous.
Posted by: shaggy | November 15, 2009 at 04:26 PM
Oh yeah, what was with the back to back 3rd down runs? TErriBlE!
Posted by: Marc | November 15, 2009 at 04:26 PM
I hope Armando went to find out about Ronnie and isn't sleping at his PC.
Posted by: Jeff F, Long Island, NY | November 15, 2009 at 04:27 PM
We Need Porter did you see anderson Was running on no gas in the 4th
Posted by: Alex | November 15, 2009 at 04:27 PM
Ronnie will be fine
Posted by: mR742 | November 15, 2009 at 04:27 PM
A win is a win I'll take it how ever they come guys
Posted by: KillerDolphin | November 15, 2009 at 04:28 PM
That rocket that Henne threw to Bess on the the sideline was a a pro bowl throw. Not a pro bowl game but a pro bowl throw
Posted by: Fake GM | November 15, 2009 at 04:28 PM
We BARELY beat one of the worst teams in the NFL, dont give me that a win is a win garbage
Posted by: mR742 | November 15, 2009 at 04:29 PM
Alex, Porter runs on no gas starting in Q1!
Posted by: Orange County | November 15, 2009 at 04:29 PM
Props to JT, Charlie anderson, Wake, and Ricky. Also to Henne. I blame that pick on coaching staff stupidity. Oh....Lets not forget carpenter.
Posted by: shaggy | November 15, 2009 at 04:30 PM
Cmon yea we looked Like turfs warmed over but we won I would rather look bad in a win than look good in a loss!!!!
Posted by: Chewyphins | November 15, 2009 at 04:30 PM
any one else notice that Ted(Alligator arms)Ginn was on the side line on that last drive???(the only smart thing the coaches did today)...
Posted by: cuban menace | November 15, 2009 at 04:30 PM
Why do I have this funny feeling that the NFL Network just called the Dolphins to congratulate them for being selected for a spot on their show this week?
Posted by: Beerndrums | November 15, 2009 at 04:30 PM
WoW!!!!
That was like rough sex with an ugly women.
She wasn't pretty and you don't want to admit how hard it was to get.
The good news is you pounded it for a full 60 minutes and "pulled it out" just in time ;)
Posted by: odinseye | November 15, 2009 at 04:31 PM
A Win is a WIN! What moron you rather have a loss? come on...
Posted by: Orange County | November 15, 2009 at 04:31 PM
Porter is hurt, give him a break, remember 17.5 sacks last year?
Posted by: Quietstorms3x | November 15, 2009 at 04:32 PM
Ginn the fainting Goat
Posted by: KillerDolphin | November 15, 2009 at 04:32 PM
So what!! Didn't Henne drive them down for the final score?!
Posted by: Brady Meadows | November 15, 2009 at 04:32 PM
Man this is not a feel good win. Miami should have ran away with this game. Poor play calling again on the offensive side of the ball.
Posted by: Ripp | November 15, 2009 at 04:32 PM
odinseye, that was priceless! I'm still laughing
Posted by: Orange County | November 15, 2009 at 04:32 PM

Posted by: cuban menace | November 15, 2009 at 04:33 PM

Great news for all the villages and hamlets located around Odinseye...
Posted by: cuban menace | November 15, 2009 at 04:35 PM
what the hell! play real football will you with a running game like this you don't need great recievers just better play calling noones afraid of us because we don;t make them pay. New England has great recievers but how many are down the field no it's short passes then take off if Henning doesn't get get out that's for I talk to my wife about football all the time tramp to time for Tuna to come down and take over. JETS! suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Posted by: robert evans | November 15, 2009 at 04:35 PM
Ted Gin should return KR and PR. Bess Should be a full time WR.
Orange he is in a slump you have to keep giving him a chance. He was our best guy last year.
Posted by: Alex | November 15, 2009 at 04:35 PM
I don't want to pi$$ on a win here but, why wouldn't you run the clock down to 3 seconds before calling a timeout before Carpenter kicks the field goal? Those 10 seconds left could have been a killer.
Posted by: djrichiep | November 15, 2009 at 04:36 PM
YOU SUCK HENNING
nice job calling a pass play with under two minutes
you are the biggest tool ever.
Posted by: test | November 15, 2009 at 04:36 PM
and about the head coach
before the 1st half ended, you had 10 second to throw one ball to the endzone
before the end of the game, you should have called timeout with 4 seconds left
this head coach along with the off/def coaches are total idiots
this team isn't winning any playoff games with these fools
Posted by: test | November 15, 2009 at 04:37 PM
Jason Taylor was robbed of a touchdown. In that play, the receiver did not have control of the ball, and had the ball hit the ground, the play would have been ruled incomplete; however, the ball bounced off the receivers body and landed in JT's hands, and he ran it in for the TD. The bucs shouldn't have been upset, JT should gave the 6 points.
Posted by: Dofinsphan | November 15, 2009 at 04:37 PM
Ginn almost killed us he can't field a grounder kick? Screw that guy. I am done with him. Returner and receiver.
Posted by: shaggy | November 15, 2009 at 04:38 PM
Henne will be fine just let the boy play give him some plays where he can throw it like a man great job by Bucs not a quitter team like Rex I need a hot dog team Oh! i;M SURE THEY OUT PLAYED THE jaGS

Ugly Win , There's a Ton Of Holes on This Team,They Need Two More Years Of Free Agency and Draft Picks To Build A Decent Team , They Look Average Today
Posted by: ivan2370 | November 15, 2009 at 04:39 PM
we definetly need to change our second half mentality

Posted by: Dishpan | November 15, 2009 at 04:40 PM
A win is a win...it's time to put this Pat White experiment behind us...let Henne run this offense instead of putting him in 3rd and long all damn day
Posted by: bobbyd12 | November 15, 2009 at 04:41 PM
test you are a dumbass...we would be nothing w/o our head coach, our coordinators on the other hand we could do without
