It wasn't pretty. It wasn't a dominant performance. But it counts.
And so the Dolphins delivered a 25-23 victory Sunday in what reminds of victories over Seattle and Buffalo and St. Louis and San Francisco a year ago.
These are not masterpieces. But they are also not Ls.
The Dolphins had to drive 77 yards in five plays that took 1:04 to take the final two-point lead. The only reason those heroics were necessary is because quarterback Chad Henne threw an interception that set the Bucs off on a 26-yard drive that gave them a 23-22 lead.
Regardless, it is a victory.
And that's important because the Dolphins find themselves with a 4-5 record and in second place in the AFC East. The Dolphins and Jets both have 4-5 records but Miami beat New York twice this year.

I agree with you, kevin11c!

Tommya,
That's a tough one.
I wan't the Colts to lose to keep our undefeated season intact.
However, the Warrior in me says: Kill Brady!
Seeing how we can still technically win the division, I would have to say Kill Brady!

Po white trash: tonite is not the nite for the colts to lose. Next week, ok!

Michigan wants Henne back for one more game. Hope your beer holds out for the duration.. Henne made it happen and really should not have been put in the position with the penalty before, then again dumb play call. Showed the guts we knew he had!! He really is a good one! Have a good one! Love your posts

Cuban - I lived there for 15 years. Miss it a bit. Best moment was laughing at jets fans at giant stadium when Marino faked spike and threw td. Remember it like yesterday. Worst moment at giants radium testaverde lighting us up and losing with Fiedler in 4th qtr - I think it was like 28 pts or something, worse then this years orleans loss.

Well Thursday is coming quick and I'm not sold on the gameplanning this staff does with a full week, what's it gonna look like Thursday on short rest and less time? Plus if Ronnie is out for a while, were toast

The experiment with White needs to stop. Team showed alot of heart late but we are still playing and sometimes coaching like this is the first year anyone has played football, painful and ugly to watch.

Ziggy,
The sky hasn't fallen yet.
I haven't liked all the gameplans either, but being a true hardcore DolFan, I'm keeping the faith.
Come on 5-5!!!!

I've been a Henne fan from the day he set foot on the field down in Ann Arbor.

Odinseye,
yeah, I hear ya. I really want the Pats to lose. I'm not worried about the Colts going undefeated, though. If the Pats lose we'll be 2 back... and we play them again at home... so tonight's game is crucial for the Fins if they're going to make it to the playoffs.

Spillmar,
Surfing really good in Florida this weekend. I catch Delray beach yesterday 6-8 feet with some 10 feet sets. Very good surfing, some of the best I see in Florida.

The only thing we do with any cosistency is make average players look great and especially in the 4th qtr. Winslow has been living off his name for the last 3 years and Freeman only shined because of our D, not because he is a future star. This game scared me because I think our players were over confident. If we were as good as our players think they are we should have blown TB out. Really liked the new TE Sperry kids got some skills and alot of heart.
Posted by: Michael Nester | November 15, 2009 at 06:11 PM
Spillmar: yes it's a nice area. But I go home whenever I get a chance. And when it snows i'm a fish out of The water! LOL! u were in so. FL in the early 80's u remember the superbowls. Would b nice to get back to that!

Sometimes you can get autographs at the games. It's more unlikely at an away game though.
It just depends if the players feel like doing it. If it happens it's usually early. Right before(and sometimes during)pre-game warm ups.
Posted by: odinseye | November 15, 2009 at 06:17 PM
Yeah, it wasn't pretty at all but I'll take it.

Have to agree with comments about cloack mnagement at both the end of the half and the game. Before the half, we should have taken one quick throw to the end zone. And, calling timeout with 15 seconds left on the 8 yard line was a mistake. You had no timeouts if the snap was bad so don't use that as an excuss. Even after the timeout, the coaching staff could have corrected their mistake by snapping the ball on first down and instructing Henne to a few seconds and then spike the ball. In fact they could have done this twice (or, even three times) to wind the clock down to 4 seconds or left before attamting the filed goal. Definately think the wildcar should used less, especially the trick play out of it. Use the wildcat sparringly as a pure running game formation. Horrible play call on third down on our 23. Admit Henne mad a bon head play, but it was a bad play call. The play should have been to the middle of the field to our biggest and strongest receiver. And, finally when we were up by 3, why didn't we pass it on 3rd and 4 before running and kicking the field goal to go up by three. From the flow of the game it was obvious to me that we going to haave difficulty atopping them with over 5 minutes left.
Just some thoughts.

Carlito
Maybe Henne's reciever on that play went the wrong way!.. Don't be too mad we got to see what Henne the HERO was made out of and it's nothing but GOLD!!!

Posted by: cuban menace | November 15, 2009 at 06:31 PM
A win is a win on 'any given sunday'. Those of you who are reactionaries need to slow down and look at the big picture. We have had alot of injuries (started x3 rookies on o-line:Haynos, Garner, Sperry) who all played well. We also have had some unfortunate officiating in ALL of our games (take the time and review if you please). Young players (whom many played today) make mistakes, and take time to grow into their roll.
All that being said, I have the UTMOST confidence in our coaching staff and personnel people. Look at the last two draft's and point out one player drafted that has not done well (and please think before you respond). We are 3-1 in our division, and Coach Sparano and his staff lost their 1st div. road game last week @ the Patriots (with ? officiating), so give them a break.
I am a long time Phin's Fan, and believe in our future!
