Jake Grove out vs. Patriots, possibly longer

Center Jake Grove will miss Sunday's game between the Dolphins and Patriots, barring a sudden and unexpected recovery from a high ankle sprain and tibia injury, a club source said Thursday.

It is also possible Grove, who already missed a start against Buffalo last week after suffering the injury against Carolina the week before, will miss time beyond Sunday. Although the Dolphins have opted not to place Grove on the injured reserve list, the worst-case scenario is he could be out through the end of the season.

The club is hopeful it will not come to that. But a high ankle sprain typically takes four to six weeks to heal depending on its severity. Grove has already been out two weeks because the injury happened during a Thursday night game on Nov. 18.

Some players are able to get back on the field quicker due, in part, to their tolerance for pain and the positions they play. A center is more likely to be able to play with the injury than a player who has to perform in space. So that is a plus.

The tibia injury, however, complicates matters in weighing recovery time.

With Grove out, the Dolphins are expected to continue starting Joe Berger at center. Berger started in Grove's place against the Bills.

“I thought Joe Berger played very well yesterday, I really did," coach Tony Sparano said Monday when asked to assess Berger's performance. "Really pleased with what he did."

Grove did not practice at all last week and did not practice Wednesday when the Dolphins began preparations for the Patriots. Sparano was asked about the center's condition and responded, “Did not practice today, getting a little bit better."

Not having Grove hurts the Dolphins because he was signed as an unrestricted free agent, in part, because he played well last season for the Oakland Raiders against AFC East nose tackles. The Dolphins were said to be particularly impressed with his performance against Kris Jenkins of the New York Jets.

New England nose tackle Vince Wilfork is one of the most versatile players on the Patriots front line and is perhaps the team's best run-stopper.

Grove's injury is a setback and a disappointment because he came to the Dolphins to upgrade the running game. The Dolphins signed Grove to a five-year, $29.5 million contract that includes $14.5 million in guaranteed money.

But Grove also came to Miami with a reputation for being injured. He missed six games because of injuries in 2005. He missed nine games in 2007. He missed four games in 2008. The only season in which Grove did not miss any games came in 2006 when he started all 16 for Oakland.

Dear Mr. Carlito from Golfito

"The last thing people want to hear is a man in a dress talk about football."

In my opinion that depends apon the dress.
Did he shave his legs ?
What accessories ? Matching shoes and purse ?

Is he confident in his appearence ?
Wig and or extensions ?
Are his nails done ?

Is his football knowledge enhanced by the dress ?

Just wondering

Soiled :)

"Anthony name one Draftee that has made the impact that Zach or JT did"
Marc I'm not Antony but if you want names:
Ronnie Brown
Want more?
Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain.
Yes, the CB was drafted by JJ but what about the running backs drafted by JJ?
the point here is drafting people is a science and an art.
Maybe not a bad idea hire JJ as a consultant in the next draft, I think.

Immediate impact? Jason Taylor got 16.5 sacks in his first 3 years before he 14.5 in his 4th.

Marc, do your research before you spew.

Jake Long has had way more immediate impact than JT. A Pro Bowl player from day one and you can't see it from right under your nose. Your credibility is zero man.

Do you ever wear open back dresses?

Dear Mr. Salguero

Does Jpeezy drink Hennessy for halftime adjustments ? If no should he ?

Soiled :)

Toby Gerhart for the Heisman!

Bobby, You're a good Dolfan. A very good one; however, if you roll over and agree w/ everything that's going on right now, then you're a misguided good Dolfan. I can live w/ that. Take what some of these good posters are writing to heart....maybe no Marc, but some of the others w/ constructive criticism. Don't throw us all in the fair-weather-fan barrel just because we provide a few insightful recommendations. For example, Ted Ginn. What's your stand on Ginn? What about the decision to not play Patrick Turner at all? Where are U on that one? I need to know. Cause if you're on the side of let the coaches continue this way ahead, i.e., let them both continue to develop, etc., then you're on the wrong side, and I would submit that you were part of the organization in disguise. Please just answer those questions and then I'll decide how I feel about U a little more. Right now, you're a good Dolfan in my book and I respect and value your opinions. May not agree w/ them whole-heartedly, but you're A-OK.

Soiled, as Marc, he's the dress wearer, I assume size 30 though

dqmbx1212, the Oprah blog is open if you don't like hearing guys argue football, take Marc with u

Why they sign this guy? how many years he play without going injured at Oakland??? At lease Samson wasnt injury prone.

Parcell and Co did not draft Brown, Surtain or Madison! WOW...JT had 9 his 2nd year...How many do Merling and Langford combined have this year? Just curious...Oh yeah, it's a 3-4, blah, blah...We KNEW JT was special from day 1. Can you REALLY say that about our picks?

Again, Long WOULD NOT have been in the Pro Bowl had the chips not fallen that way, and was the RT! Remember the first 2 games this season? Remember seeing Long put on his keester? I'm not saying Long's not good, but, he's not worth mentioning in the long list of talent we've had....yet

Real men? LOL...Are you serious? Booby...You think the dresses are gay? Send your wife over if so ;)

Marc, no body likes you on here or agrees with ur moronic posts...and the only reason I would send my wife over is to explain football to u, since ur clueless u cross dressing h'mo

Oh no, the virtual blind fin's fans don't like me? Boo Hoo...Some, however, agree.

Since you, your wife, Parcells, and Ireland are so smart, then answer my quiz. How many games has Alan Fanaca missed due to injury? Now, how many has Smiley missed, CAREER #'s...

You can send her to teach me football and I'll return her with a whole new skill set. Of course, this would be out of pity, because I'm sure she's a cow...

LMAO @ Marc

Bobby's wife is going to explain football to you, hahaha

JT also got 2 sacks in his 3rd year. If this blog was around back then, you would be clamoring to release him.

And you can't compare sack figures with a DE in a 3-4 and a 4-3. It's not an excuse, it's reality. Richard Seymour and Aaron Smith have been the most prolific 3-4 DEs of our time and I don't know if they've ever been among the NFL sack leaders.

Whoa Marc, calling someone's wife a cow is not cool. Over the line dude.

Marc can do what he wants cause he's writing online...I'm pretty sure him and his boyfriend don't have the balls to ever say it to someones face....sec 402, row 12 seats 3 and 4 jerk'off... Once I'm done kicking ur a's, I'll personally make sure u will go to a part of Miami Dade jail where the brothers will love u in a dress, and nobody will hear u crying

Even the great personnel guys (like Parcells, Bellichick, Holmgren) frequently miss on their high draft picks. It is almost impossible to know if a good college player will be a good pro player.

So Parcells clearly missed on some players for, but that's OK for me.

The real disappointement is that he's been unable to find any late round gem , or even a solid contributor in the late rounds.

Oh that's right, Marc the Crossdresser won't spend his hardearned McDonald's money to support HIS team, so I'm sure he won't show

It was 3 sacks his 3rd year, not 2, and I supported him because he was GREAT, from day ONE. The same cannot be said here.

Over the line, yeah, a f@g, idiot, etc is OK, but, pointing out that the insecure cop on the blog has an unnattractive wife is an insult? LOL...I didn't see a rebuttal, I'm sure she is

Oh, that explains it, you're a cop! Well, listen tough guy. I'm the least anonymous poster on here, but, I'm not driving all the way down to MIA unless your wife brings some hot co-workers...Wait, does she work or just raise the soon to be corrupt children?

Like I said , Marc the Crossdresser, tough guy online, coward in real life...I see guys like him daily, big mouth, big ego, short on brains...talks big till he's cuffed and then cry's for his mommy...whatever

There's no salary cap next year right? So can Miami please cut Wilson and Crowder? They Blow beyond belief. Especially Crowder. All that talk and playing time, not one game changing play, like in his entire NFL career...

Ironic that you claimed nobody likes ME...Newflash HERO...EVERYONE HATES COPS! In fact, how many of your friends are not cops? I'm guessing ZERO, because nobody wants to be around a bunch of insecure, ego-maniac, glorified hall monitors...I have a gun too b!tch.

At least now I know why you can't think without being ordered to do so...Pathetic, useless pig...In fact, now that I know you're a cop, and that you're married, most-likely with children, I'm SURE that I make more $$ than you, and NOT at McDonalds, LOL

Cops...

Shouldn't you be out "fighting crime" instead of blogging on here? I'm sure you could be handing out some parking tickets, or settling domestic disputes...Are you using the web from your cruiser?

See, Marc u just proved what a useless piece of S'it u are to everyone here...I'm 100 percent right, u talk big but when ur cuffed in back of a car u cry like a baby, and you've been there more then once, I can tell by ur attitude...an unproductive, useless member of society...like I said mouth, any Sunday home game u know where I am PU'SY

Never been arrested, I'm a former soldier, as you probably are too..MUCH more productive than some lazy @s$ cop.

You keep talkin' about those cuffs cause that's all you got...b!tch...

NOONE LIKES COPS! Get it, Officer Bob, LMAO! You really are officer Bob! That's HILARIOUS...You made my day tough guy with a badge...Who would take you up on the offer to come get incarcerated? You realize smart people aren't police officers right? How funny you should cast stones...And what kind of image are you setting for the Miami-Dade police force with your hostility? Do you think the chief would approve of your tirades Officer Bob? If you're so tough, what's your precinct and badge #? Well see if your superiors approve of your behavior....See, you're a b!tch!

This is the BEST comic relief I could have asked for...

Have a good life crossdresser, since I knw u and ur boyfriend will never come up, and ur obviously a criminal who I would never associate with, and ur not a real fan, and u know NOTHING about football, and ur a COWARD, and ur a Crossdresser, I'm not wasting my time responding to u anymore...ur worthless

Some observations:

1) Last night I was watching two documentaries - one on the making of "Animal House," and the other about Albert Einstein. I'm not going to lie to you - I watched the Animal House one and only watched the Einstein one during commercial breaks. They were both fascinating.

2) I work with a 22-year-old who doesn't know who any of the following people are - Milton Berle, Jack Benny, etc. These kids don't know their history.

3) In one of the previous articles by Armando, some of the readers' comments were about Terrell Buckley being a "good defensive back." I must be remembering a different Terrell Buckley. He was a woefully inadequate defensive back who simply could not cover adequately. What he was very good at was making big interceptions. But that hardly made up for his other inadequacies. The best pure cover backs the Dolphins have had in my memory are Don McNeil, Troy Vincent, Sam Madison and Patrick Surtain.

4) Be prepared to see a different side of Nathaniel Dodsworth. I was thinking this morning about when my wife (then my fiance) and I stayed in a hotel in Toronto. My wife suffers from fibromyalgia, herniated discs, etc., so her sleep is desperately needed and desperately restorative. I couldn't stand the thought of parting the next day (she lived in the U.S., where we both now live), so I made a very selfish request of her. I asked that I be given carte blanche to hug her and kiss her all hours of the night, even when she was sleeping. She granted my request. Consequently, every hour I seemed to wake up, look at my watch, shudder that she would be leaving in hours, and kiss, hug and hold on to her for dear life. It was like I wouldn't be satisfied until I held her so tightly that she was part of me. That was one of the most beautiful nights of my life.

5) If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have pulled the fire alarm in grade 7 Hebrew school. That was a pretty rotten thing to do.

Police reject candidate for being too intelligent

A US man has been rejected in his bid to become a police officer for scoring too high on an intelligence test.

Robert Jordan, a 49-year-old college graduate, took an exam to join the New London police, in Connecticut, in 1996 and scored 33 points, the equivalent of an IQ of 125.

But New London police interviewed only candidates who scored 20 to 27, on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training.

"The average score nationally for police officers is 21 to 22, the equivalent of an IQ of 104, or just a little above average.
"

And automatically ASSUMES Miami/Dade. As stupid as they come..I'll talk to a rock, more brains

And the greatest part is 6 figures a year with overtime, union protection, 100% benefit coverage and you yes YOU Marc are paying for it out of YOUR taxes...so thank you Marc

Up to MIA Officer Bob? I live in Orlando! LMAO!

I assumed MIA/DADE because that's where you claimed you would send me...

OMG, I couldn't have been luckier to have gotten a cop...Eclaires or doughnuts?

Dear Mr. Nathaniel Dodsworth

"5) If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have pulled the fire alarm in grade 7 Hebrew school. That was a pretty rotten thing to do."

You are looking at it all wrong.
You should rejoice in all the lives you saved by pulling that alarm.

You sir...are a New American Hero

Vote Dodsworth/Menace - We don't transmit STD's - 2016

Expect nothing less out of a LOSER!!! I have work to do so have a nice day CROSSDRESSER...gotta suck up UR money in OT. LMAO

POP QUIZ , How bad was FANECA abused by Randy Starks in the 2nd dolphin-jets game ? LMFAO ! Give me a break with faneca !

I think some of the acrimony on this blog could be ameliorated if people would only get Papal dispensations from their wives to hug and kiss them all night like I did on that magical night in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, North America, Earth, Solar System, Milky Way Galaxy, Universe, Orange Bowl.

NJ, this Marc guys spews so much nonsense. Faneca, 35 years old. He's really going to help Miami going forward while Smiley is playing really well in that interior.

Some people are just so retarded. Can't see that this team has accumulated as many wins in the last 1 2/3 seasons as they have in the previous 3 combined. And they did this virtually with an expansion team roster. No short cuts being taken by this administration either which you couldn't say about Saban who aged his defense overnight. They will make this team good for the long haul.

And still they complain.

I'm guessing less abused than whoever our backup to SMILEY is, since he's constanty INJURED Jersey ;)

"People, I just want to say, you know, can we all get along? Can we get along? Can we stop making it, making it horrible for the older people and the kids?...It’s just not right. It’s not right. It’s not, it’s not going to change anything. We’ll, we’ll get our justice....Please, we can get along here. We all can get along. I mean, we’re all stuck here for a while. Let’s try to work it out. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to beat it. Let’s try to work it out."

Marc, I don't give a shyt . Fanace is on his last legs and got F'n abused by starks. Fanaca got thrown around like a rag doll. So much so , that starks sealed the game by abusing fanaca . LMFAO! Again , give me a break with fanaca. That gave the man like 40 mil dollars ! . He's done !.

Rodney...Was Officer Bob one of the cops that beat you?

Marc, ur a lost case man. For real.

A lost case? WTF does that even mean? Are you a fan of police? Do you donate to fallen officer funds? LOL

I went to an event for fallen officers once. It was called "Pigs in a blanket"

What kind of grown man calls himself "Bobby" anyway?

LMAO ! marc , you're to much ! :)

See, even Jeresy's a bigger man than Bobby (and that's saying something)...Jersey got mad cause I talked about his b!tch too ;)

Bobby Orr
Bobby Hull
Bobby Bonds
Bobby Sands
Bobby Shaftoe
Bobby Cox

Nathan, I have NO IDEA who ANY of those people are...

I must come to the Defense of Bobby12,personal attacks shold be made in person any one have a problem with Bobby should go to Land shark or whatever there calling it and see him, he gave you the seat and section.(Bobby, how do you get sundays off, I only get 1 sunday a month off)(are there any openings down there)....

Marc, if you don't know who Justin Smiley's back up is, you should burn all dolphins memorabilia and start rooting for the Jets.

Garner put in one of the most gutsy performances in recent dolphin history when he was able to play LG, Rt, and C in one game... never having played center before in his life... THIS WAS A NATIONAL STORY, DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT DOLPHINS FOOTBALL OR JUST MADDEN RATINGS YOU MORON?

Bobbyd12,

410 row 6 seat 13 and 14

OH Yeah i almost forgot: DODDSWORTH/MENACE 2016............

Thank you carlito..

Oh yeah also thank you NJ for the Mini warm up, its gotta be around 65 degrees... You the man(Or should I say you the Deity)

Marc or Mr madden football. Now hold on. " and that' s saying something " . I 'm a bigger man than you'll ever be . I guarantee that ! It wasn't my biatch you mentioned , it was my mom. If 65 year old widows float your boat , then god bless you because that's about all you'll get,:)

Hey Carlito, SHUT UP! I guess you must be 20-24 years old. When you watched this team as long as the SARGE and me and alot of the losing and no SP since 73 then you can start calling us out, till then go root for the Lions, they will fit your bill.
