It's all about U: Dolfans understand the process

My column in Today's Miami Herald (yes, we still print an edition you Internet freeloaders should purchase every once in a while) discusses a topic you should be familiar with:

You.

The fans.

Frankly, as Yoda would say, "impressed with you I am," because many of you don't want to jump off the bandwagon or bench the offense of fire everybody any time the team loses.

The fact is many of you understand what is happening -- slowly but surely -- with the rebuilding of the franchise and to date you are being patient with the process.

That wasn't always the case. Miami Dolfans have had their moments of anger and impatience and near-revolution.

So you tell me on this feedback Tuesday: Is it fair for me to conclude you have found a group of franchise caretakers you have faith in? What areas of the team are you optimistic about? What are you skeptical about?

And how long does the current understanding and bliss extend? Asked another way, when does the honeymoon end and you, the fans, start to expect championships at all costs?

(Not to suggest everyone is thrilled with the Dolphins these days, if you're unhappy with the direction of the team, please say so.)

Aloco, Never mentioned Chad(neck fat)Henne today, but here it goes,I said it the other day before the tenn. game i said lets see what henne does the next 3 games before we call him the Savior... his 1st game doesn't help his case...

Coaching is WORK,

Dan don't need the money or the Headache.

HOW THE PLUMBER KNOWS IT'S 10 YEARS NOT 8 YEARS ? I AM JUST ASKING .

•Passed for 4,510 yards over career in playoff games
•Threw at least one touchdown pass in 16 of his 18 playoff contests, throwing a TD pass in his first 13 postseason contests.

•Selected to nine Pro Bowls (1983-87, 1991-92, 1994-95), including seven as a starter (1983-86, 1992, 1994-95). Due to injuries, played only two games (1984, 1992).

Aloco, the phins hired danny for a vice pres. position, he held it for two weeks.....I guess he even saw the hiring as a bad omen and jumped ship...Cant blame him...And by the way aloco, what do you do for a living, my thoughts are you are in the farming industry...

The hiring of Cam(No clue)Cammron that is....

Bottom line is if Dan had the Wussy Rules the QBS and WRS have now he would still be playin.

AFTER READING THE STATES FOR MARINO'S YEARS AND THE 9 YEARS PRO BOWL SELECATION .

I AM DECLARING MYSELF AS A NEW FAN OF HIS .
PS...FOR THE RECORD I DON'T CALL A BAND WAGON BUT RESPECT FOR HIM AND THE FANS WHO LOVE THIS MUCH .I AM YOUNGER THAN MOST OF YOU , I ONLY SAW HIM PLAYING IN HIS LAST YEAR UNDER THE SHOW BIS COACH JOHNSON THE BEAUTIFUL.

I remember a interview with Shula after Dan Marinos 1st game(Against buff.)(and the phins lost) Coach shula said" I think we've found a offense in Dan Marino" ... He was'nt kidding boy.....

boobyd12 leave cocoajoe alone. He is more than you will ever be, fool

Thats to bad ALOCO, you missed out on maybe the greatest q.b TO PLAY THE GAME Marino was a master at 4th QTR. come backs.......

I'll never forget the hit Greg LLoyd put on Dan in the mid 90'S on the sideline....

You put a hit that like on Bit*h boy brady he would of been thrown out of the league and Brady would of been Dead

Any one remember that one?

Po, Vs. the steelers right???

I AM GOING TO GOOGLE THE BEST MARINO'S GAMES AND GET THEM TO WATCH .IT'S BETTER THE CRAP MOVIES WE HAVE TO WATCH .

Right CM,

After the hit Dan reached up and grabbed Greg neck collar, pulled him down( as much as he could) and cussed him for the hit!

No fear! Brady nowhere in the same class.

Dan was a tough SOB.

I remember.........

Po,

I rememeber that about Marino. That same hit against Brady Bunch would have snapped him in half.

OK guys, gotta go to work, Only 2 more shopping days till christmas, the mall should be packed..LOL

We are a proud Franchise, don’t let these posers fool ya. We will be back!

Need a FS #1 reciever a yough RB,LB, to groom.

Optimisim on both sides of the ball. Tuna and gang have so many moving pieces to this project that you have to expect some inconsistency. Still, it's been both exciting and frustrating to watch them this year. I think the team will come into next season knowing they blew 4 games that had they won would have had so called "NFL experts" picking them as a playoff team to watch. Overall, with a few quality changes and additions I think the Dolphins will be in contention next year. P.S. Trade Ginn for what you can get for him in the off season, I still think he'll become a productive weapon with somebody just not with the dolphins. Time to move on for everybody invovled...send him to Baltimore for a 3rd rounder, he and Cam can hug and talk about what might have been.

I'm an old fart at 50.I was lucky enough to be in my teens during the Perfect Season, and been blessed to have watched all of Marinos career.
Trust me when I say this organization is on track for the first time in 20 years. The Trifecta knew we were a weak finesse team. They have changed the whole aura/mentality of this club. We are bigger, faster, meaner! We are also much YOUNGER! We are building the right way, thru the draft(when was the last time you had so many 1st and 2nd year guys starting or playing alot of minutes? Heck,Bell is the only guy left from other regimes). When, and only when the TUNA thinks were one or two pieces away,THEN you'll see us add that great free agent. I LOVE THIS TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#1 need is RB not WR.
In a uncapped year Ronnie Brown is a free agent, he's gone, and good riddance. Let's be clear: he was on pace for 1200 yards, that's 75 yards per game, with the extra blocker of the backdoor wildcat formation.

Think Chris Johnson, DeAngelo Williams, Michael Turner, Adrian Peterson that is the kind of back we need.

need #1 WR worried about Ronnie The offense game plan changed not for the better. But in draft need to pick biggest impact player , don't reach for need.

Excited about:
1.Most excited about the attitude and Heart of the Miami Dolphins franchise.Miami now has an attitude that gives them a chance to win any game or come back in any game. The have that never give up attitude...this is what makes good teams great(with some talent of course). This need attitude has forced NFL teams to RESPECT the new Miami Dolphins or they will get a beat down:)
2.The way our Dolphins have played through huge injuries at key postions. The coaching staff deserves so much credit for have players ready to step up and play when a teammate gets hurt...it's amazing this team has done as well as it has considering these huge injuries.Miami is a good team that will be SPECIAL when healthy, and by adding some talent to a few positions.
3.We have some young studs that have got a lot of playing time this year...they have been tested in every way and done a good job.The mistakes they all have made this year will only make them better for next year.
4.Henne is still a big question for me, but I see the talent he has.My concern is the touch pass...Henne really hasn't shown the ability to make a touch pass every game.I think this is a skill that should be natural...it's one of those skills that you either got or you don't.Other areas Henne needs work in is...moving out of the pocket, making plays when things break down, stop looking down one WR.I think these are things he will get better with in time.We all know Henne has talent and has been pretty good this year.
4.Ricky Williams has been a stud this year...I think he should get come back player of the year.
5.Coach Sparano is a really good coach.I think he has the passion and skills to turn Miami into a Superbowl team.I think he has made young coaching mistakes at times, but we know Sparano puts everything he has into the Miami Dolphins.I just love his Passion for Miami.

Concerned about:
1.The OC and DC coaches...I think Miami should really think about Charlie Weis.Weis would fit perfect and if we draft Golden Tate...Weis would already know how to play Tate.
2.The need for a number 1 WR...we have to take on in the first round no matter what or get a big sign through FA.If we draft a WR first round I would love to take GOLDEN TATE.Tate is smaller but makes up for it with his huge vertical.Tate is NO DIVA and can turn plays into TDs...Oh and he can make plays out of the WILDCAT.If we get a WR through FA...Go after Marshall hard or V.Jackson.
3.The LB core is really weak.I think we have to sign Jason Taylor back.We would be stupid not to.Miami has a chance to go after Demeco Ryans from the Texans...this guy is a stud and a leader.
4.RB could be an issue soon with Ricky Williams age and Ronnie Browns injuries.
5.We all know Gabril Wilson has been a bust...gotta get someone else in that will step up through FA or Draft.
6.We are getting old at NT...we have to pick someone up for this postion as well.
7.Worried about "The Tuna" leaving Miami...I'm just praying he stays ha

Much love Phin Fans...Love our Dolphins

Sorry forgot to edit ha Had to post again

And Officer booby wonders why nobody likes cops...LOL...He seems like such a rational, likeable guy...cops

we are moving in the right direction

My column in Today's Miami Herald (yes, we still print an edition you Internet freeloaders should purchase every once in a while) discusses a topic you should be familiar with:

Freeloaders! Why...I'll just go right out and purchase one on the nearest street corner here in Pendleton Oregon, Armando.

I think the Dolphins are going to be a powerhouse to reckon with next year, even if they only address a couple of their problem areas. They have shown flashes of being unstopable.

You think the Colts and Saints weren't happy to get out of their games with Miami on the winning side? I'd like to believe neither of them would cherish the thought of playing Miami again, right now. Anyway...Go Dolphins!

Hey Tony and did you pay for reading the column on the web? You can do that at the Herald now?

So put your big yap where your mouth is.

My friend Mando is worth a buck or two for his column, I think.

Deuces.

I really thought we would see one of our 2008 draft picks emerge as a great player. That did not happen this season. Even Donald Thomas are only surprise of the draft has been outplayed by backups. I'll give the 2008 draft besides Jake Long one more year to become difference makers. Randy Starks has been a great surprise this year, so was Joey Porter last year and he hasn't come close to that performance. Starks is a 6 year pro and now playing his best season. Great players don't take 6 years to break out, if he was truly a great player we would of known that years ago.

Mando, I'll gladly subscribe again when the losers running your paper can guarantee me that I can get the west coast results for MLB and NBA games like I used to five or six years ago.

You know I'm a big fan of yours. You are worth the price of admission, my friend. But the turds running your newspaper don't know their butts from a hole in the wall.

Our last couple of drfats have been lightyears ahead of wanny, sabans, n cam's. No comparison in offseason aquisitions either... So yes I'm happy w parcells and Ireland... Tony has done a great job motivating and moving in the right direction but still coordinators and his decisions have't been perfect... Otherwise alls good in this hood.

Pricemaster , you'e wrong. In an uncapped year , brown will NOT be a free agent. He'll be a free agent if there IS a capped / new cba agreement.

And Officer booby wonders why nobody likes cops...LOL...He seems like such a rational, likeable guy...cops

Marc he is not a cop you moron....a security guard at $48,000 a year. He said it himself

What good is a Lamborghini with a blind man driving?

Dan Henning is blind as blind can be.

Change starts with the coaching staff. Keep fantasizing about playoff hopes next year peeps. Buy your kleenex now because the tears will be flowing this time next year.

A SUPERBOWL OR DEEP PLAYOFF APPEARANCE WON'T HAPPEN WITH DAN HENNING CALLING PLAYS.

He has been "let go" from every football job he has had.

No sign of carlito, Po and boobyd12. They are asleep, very good. The triad of TRUE FIN FANS hahahahhaahhaha....right

Parcells and Ireland are exactly what you hope for.

Sparano has made some scary bad in-game coaching decisions this year after a great rookie year. I think he's good, but Parcells needs to get in his face and straighten out some of his weaknesses.

Ross is a huge disappointment as an owner. From "Landshark Stadium", to the revival of the Wannstedt era orange jerseys, to officials making calls in Spanish, to changing the fight song.........I've hated everything he's done. The one thing that Ross did that really bothered me was moving back the start time on home games to lessen the heat. He completely gave away our homefield advantage. I think the Dolphins would have beaten New Orleans at a 1pm start. They wouldn't have had the energy to come back from down 21 in super hot weather.

I also worry about Ross' ability to give big bonuses out in an uncapped NFL. When he was buying the Dolphins from Wayne, the deal was put on hold so he could gather more investors. I wonder if this bad economy hasn't taken a big toll on a guy who made his money in real estate.

Elmer sounds like a good name for a donkey

Pato sounds like a good name for a monkey

Pato is a gray donkey with long dirty ears.

THE PEOPLE BASHING HENNE'ARE CLOSET JET FANS OR DOLPHIN HATERS'HE'S GONNA BE THE NEW FACE OF THE NFL AT QUATERBACK'MANNING AND BRADY ARE GETTING OLD.

pato is a duck

Carlito is a little brown monkey who just learned to speak English. Yes, a little mokey with a bad disposition. He get very angry if you dont love his team with the same desire of a blind man's desire to see.

?

JUST AS LONG AS PARCELS DOESN'T LEAVE, WE WILL BE GOLDEN FOR A WHILE... HE'S TRAINED IRELAND, AND SOPRANO WELL.... WELL BE JUST FINE.

I would say the honeymoon is over this year and the "newlywed" process begins next year.

If the Dolphins continue to beat themselves in 2010, then the coach will get some heat.

For a first year starter, I am happy with Henne but he must show improvement next year in his decision making.

Oline makes me feel good considering our ability to overcome injury (although I think resigning Carey was a mistake). He gets beat too often and feels like he is comitting more penalties than the rest of the line together. Also would like to see the "injury prone" tag come off Thomas, Grove and Smiley.

Our safeties still feel like a liability and we need a game-changing WR.

Overall though I think that makes the Dolphins about 4-5 players away from serious contenders.

mrmikejohnson-- Ross is doing what owners do. In this case he's trying to create a vibe around the team that says excitement, energy and the place to be. Miami has a lot of distractions and football can get lost in the shuffle. When the dolphins are winning the people of miami will support it but the energy needs to be there and a tradition of winning resurrected. I don't see Ross as a problem when it comes to acquiring talent but he has yet to really have the chance to do that. Parcells will make that call and Ross will open the wallet.

Umm..Fever.... I take it your a "Honeymooners Fan"? that fair to say?

There are good and bad spots on this team... just as it supposed to be. Not once did this management make any time frame promises. They only said they needed to change the Culture, I think they have done that. They said they would get the CORE team built first... they are doing what they said. I believe the best way to evaluate Miami right now is to ask the teams who beat them. I believe some of those teams would say "WE are glad we do not have to play Miami again this year" Take a look at the elite teams in the league, we played all of them except the Vikes. Nearly beat the Colts and NO and did beat NE 1 of 2. Nose guard, receivers, Safety help, Tight end. These are weak spot and need addressed.

We beat the Jets twice this year - enough said.

I believe we need a big time play making recover or two, this would give Chad someone to throw to. I'm very happy with his performance this yr and even though his interceptions are greater than td's, once he gets some more starts under his belt he will be the future of the dolphins. The team is definately in a rebuilding stage but I believe we will see deep playoff runs and possibly a superbowl appearance in the next few yes if brown comes back strong and we find a couple decent recievers, and give Chad some more time to develop. After all this and an injury prone and strong offensive line is aquired we should be on our way.
