We got the live blog roaring to life as we get closer to kickoff. Meet me in the comments section for that.
The inactives today for Miami are Tyler Thigpen at the No. 3 QB, Kory Sheets, Evan Oglesby, Andrew Hartline, Andrew Gardner, Lionel Dotson, Ikaika Alama-Francis, and Patrick Turner.
Yup, Patrick Turner is again inactive.
Ted Ginn Jr. starts as do Joe Berger at center for Jake Grove and Nate Garner at guard for Donald Thomas.
Having said that, I have to address a story that is elsewhere in The Herald website -- that of having Andre Johnson join the Dolphins.
Um, he's signed through 2014 with the Texans. He's the best wide receiver in the NFL. The Texans are in the business of keeping great players, not giving them away. He was the No. 3 overall pick when he was selected in the first round.
He's not the kind of player to make a stink about being traded.
Sooo.
He is not going to be coming to the Dolphins anytime soon. Not next year. Not the year after. So please forget it. It's not happening.
It is happy speculative fodder. But it is not happening, not only because Houston won't do it, but because the Dolphins would never pay the draft day price it would take to pry Johnson away from Houston -- which I would imagine would be multiple first-round picks, plus other considerations.
So can we move on?
About today, the Dolphins must be more concerned with covering Johnson than acquiring Johnson. It will be a test for Miami's young corners, as I wrote earlier this week.

Pennington is done IMO, Henne may become something, but the WRs and DBs may be some of the worst in the league

Anyone want a handjob
Posted by: ALoco | December 27, 2009 at 02:25 PM
Hire Charlie Weiss! He can coach offense! Not much of a head coach but as far as the offense goes he's good!

Posted by: Kevin | December 27, 2009 at 02:27 PM
WOW WE GOT 3 PTS
Posted by: mk | December 27, 2009 at 02:27 PM
Charlie Weiss would be an excellent off cordinator and Zach Thomas would be a good linebackers coach
Posted by: Dfan54 | December 27, 2009 at 02:28 PM
Hennings replacement.......anyone who knows not give it to your running back to play qb
Posted by: Mccarts | December 27, 2009 at 02:28 PM
Henne has tunnel vision
Posted by: Dol Fan UK | December 27, 2009 at 02:29 PM
I like the Zach Thomas idea! He'd bring some fire to the team!
Posted by: bfc65 | December 27, 2009 at 02:29 PM
Charlie wiess is an excellent choice
Posted by: Mccarts | December 27, 2009 at 02:29 PM
They will let Henne fall on the sword this game and start Pat White against the Steelers.
Posted by: tampafin | December 27, 2009 at 02:29 PM
WE GOTTA WIN

Does Weiss have any NFL experience? Just curious.
Posted by: usnavydolfaninva | December 27, 2009 at 02:30 PM
All this bashing of henne and henning needs to stop, henne is 7-4, well 7-5 after today, manning won 3 games his first year. Henning is not the one dropping passes, throwing ints, etc. We have a great core, stop complaining! We don't have all the right personel yet, Rome wasn't built overnight. Anyone we thought we were going to make the playoffs with this schedule is loving in a fantasy world. The fish are good, not great, but they are gettting close. We have tons of young talent, but lacking a game breaking wr, and a good group of lb's. Be patient. I am as die hard as they come and impatient, but I see what this management is doing and it is going in the right direction
Posted by: Elstro17 | December 27, 2009 at 02:30 PM
Weiss was off cord for pats during super bowl years
Posted by: Dfan54 | December 27, 2009 at 02:31 PM
I hope you were being sarcastic, USNAVY
Posted by: bfc65 | December 27, 2009 at 02:31 PM
Weiss was the offensive cooprdinator for ne in the first few superbowl apperances, he will go back to ne mark my words

Posted by: ALoco | December 27, 2009 at 02:32 PM
quit blaming ginn or any of the other receivers Henne is terrible
Posted by: True DolFan | December 27, 2009 at 02:32 PM
As bad as Henne's played, the DEFENSE is what has not showed up to play this first half.
Even if both play well in the second half, it will most likely be too little too late.
Posted by: tampafin | December 27, 2009 at 02:33 PM
inactives for miami today: everybody!
Posted by: ctdolphan | December 27, 2009 at 02:34 PM
Good post Elstro17.
I think I see Parcells trading up for some DBs this off season... Unfortunately I don't have time to track who's available in the draft or the FA market.
Posted by: usnavydolfaninva | December 27, 2009 at 02:34 PM
I believe Henne has potential. Henning on the other hand is not scheming up productive plays for who we have. Why not utilize lex more? Camarillo? Mix it up.
Posted by: Mccarts | December 27, 2009 at 02:35 PM
CBS halftime show is laughing at Miami including Dan Marino. That is absolutely rock bottom for this season.
Posted by: Dreesen | December 27, 2009 at 02:36 PM
Hey Armando...Hint around Parcells the Charlie Weiss/Zach Thomas idea
Posted by: Dfan54 | December 27, 2009 at 02:36 PM
rome wasn't built in a day!!!! but it would appear the dolphins is a bigger rebuilding project, we're past 30 years of nothing! Surely we can beg Marino to coach our QB's and the Marks brothers to show Ginn the difference between the goal line and the side line.
Posted by: Dol Fan UK | December 27, 2009 at 02:36 PM
This is a disaster. Again the Fins don't show up to play for a half and today the game was over before it started. I am done watching.
They are being schooled by Houston and Parcells better start evaluating what little talent he has and distribute pink slips to the coaches and players. The Team is awful, to say they are mediocre is a compliment so I wont. Last year Team was 100% better than this bunch. Pennington wants to play, bring him back, maybe he can work a miracle again. The Fins need to take a big ad and Apologize to the fans for the lack of effort. There is no pride in this franchise, they got behind and are staying behind a blow out is already going. One thing for the off season is to teach whoever they will keep that the game is 60 minutes long, you play every single minute and those who won't get rid of them. We need a lot of help in order to someday go to the playoffs and win, one or two drafts won't accomplish that.
The perfect season is about to be history that was the only link left from what was once a proud franchise and that makes me very sad. Where have you gone Bob Griese, Larry Csonka, Morris, Warfield... Gee it seems a century ago when the Miami Dolphins were the toast of the NFL.

What a shame.
Everyone that's expected to lose so far, Baltimore and Jags are doing so.
Posted by: tampafin | December 27, 2009 at 02:38 PM
I think I'm glad we don't have DirecTV.
Posted by: usnavydolfaninva | December 27, 2009 at 02:40 PM
Bring on Pat White for the second half and see what he can do. Maybe that will wake up Henne
Posted by: Dfan54 | December 27, 2009 at 02:40 PM
sarcastic about what, bfc65?
Posted by: usnavydolfaninva | December 27, 2009 at 02:41 PM
"Why Not Us?"
Because we...
Posted by: tampafin | December 27, 2009 at 02:42 PM
Pat White will at least throw off Houston defensive game plan.
Posted by: Dfan54 | December 27, 2009 at 02:42 PM
About Weis's NFL experience... he was the off coor for NE for their Super Bowl wins.
Posted by: bfc65 | December 27, 2009 at 02:43 PM
never mind, I just googled weis. sorry, I haven't followed his career that closely
Posted by: usnavydolfaninva | December 27, 2009 at 02:43 PM
There is no way we'll get Andre Johnson now! Who would want to play for us!!
Posted by: Dolphan90 | December 27, 2009 at 02:44 PM
I'm a Dolphins fan AND a Giants fan. I cannot believe what I'm watching on 2 channels. Both teams playing the same kind of crappy game! Think I'll take my kids to the park.

Dolphins-130 yards
Texans-306 yards
Ahhhhhh!!!!
Posted by: Dolphan90 | December 27, 2009 at 02:50 PM
I see the problem. texans have 11 players, miami only has 5.
Posted by: ctdolphan | December 27, 2009 at 02:50 PM
To make a comeback Fins will have to play a lot of 2 minute offense like Jim Kelly did so well with the Bills.
Mark Reich = had biggest comeback ever of 32 points in playoff history
We haven't gotten to 32 yet.
Posted by: tampafin | December 27, 2009 at 02:51 PM

Posted by: Dolphan90 | December 27, 2009 at 02:56 PM
DEFENSE needs to throw a shutout this second half for any comeback chance.
Anyone with heart problems should stop watching the game or take a pill.
Posted by: tampafin | December 27, 2009 at 02:56 PM
PAT WHITE! PAT WHITE!
LET'S SEE MORE OF PAT WHITE!
