NEW ORLEANS -- One reason I love covering the NFL playoffs is this is where the best teams are, thus this is where the best players are.
I'm covering the Saints and the Cardinals today and some of the players I'll be watching are the ones that could be available to the Dolphins in the coming offseason via either free agency or trade.
This list of the top free agents shows today's game includes several free agents that will be restricted (assuming no collective bargaining agreement is reached). But there will be one guy -- Arizona inside linebacker Karlos Dansby that is completely unrestricted. He is the 11th rated free agent on the Scout.com list but you'll also note he is the No. 2 unrestricted free agent (players with six or more years of experience) behind only Julius Peppers of Carolina.
Another player I will try to catch up with after today's game is Arizona WR Anquan Boldin. He isn't playing today because he's injured. But he's here and on my radar. I want to ask him if he will renew his request to be traded after this season. I want to ask him his thoughts of playing for the Dolphins. As I have reported to you in the past, the Dolphins have much respect for Boldin and would consider adding him in trade if the price is right.
We'll see what happens.
Hopefully we'll see what happens together as I am conducting a live blog during the game. So join me here and we'll discuss the game with the community of thousands of Dolfans that regularly visit this blog.
Remember, the live blog begins at 4:30 p.m. ET. Follow me on twitter.

NJ,
To be fair, I have met alot of loud mouth drunks from Jersey that couldn't hold there own... not that there aren't any here, there are plenty of those no matter what state you are in.

Posted by: beerndrums | January 16, 2010 at 08:40 PM
I'm scared of Boldin. He's waaaayyyy injury prone. Why do u have such a hard-on for him Armando?
Posted by: Gmanfedup | January 16, 2010 at 08:40 PM
And as I remember, wasn't it the Phins that kept you out of the playoffs last year and sent your buddy Farve packin.
We would of done it this year too but the Colts played ya and fu*ked the job up.
Posted by: Po White Trash | January 16, 2010 at 08:42 PM
Even though I don't like Jets I'm betting on them.
Posted by: YourBackDoorMan | January 16, 2010 at 08:44 PM
Ya, I might go bet a few hundred on themm... either I win me some money, or it will be a cheap price to pay to watch rex cancel the clown show he had planned for the parade/.

Indy is in a fight here.
Posted by: YourBackDoorMan | January 16, 2010 at 08:52 PM
Armando,
Is Miami going to look at the collegiate level for a DC; perhaps Kirby Smart.....Will Miami stay at #12 in the draft even though I think McClain and Bryant will be gone or trade down and select Brandon Spikes.......How is Rolando McClain in comparsion to DeMeco Ryans when he came out of 'Bama?
Posted by: Steve | January 16, 2010 at 08:55 PM
in my mind's eye I keep seeing Colts running whatever the plays they are doing now vs Dolphins......but I simply cannot imagine us covering as tightly or tackling as surely as the Ravens do ROUTINELY. And that freakin Ray Lewis must have pulled a "Dorian Gray"--not only hasn't he aged, he's playing as well as he ever has!
Menace----surf your radio dial...I ALWAYS opt for the Radio dudes, even when they're are out-of-sync. Not just that I hate TV suckfesters, I actually prefer radio call at least 80% of the time. In fact, I'm bummed here in SoFla tonight cause we've got Canes BB, Panthers Hockey & Heat on all three sports stations, hence no radio--so i got game on w/ sound off.
Posted by: The Seer | January 16, 2010 at 08:55 PM
Hal . I'm not a big drinker , i take care of my body. Now go suck down another cocktail or go go to bed.
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | January 16, 2010 at 08:56 PM
Ted Ginn Sr. will be the new DC
Posted by: carlito from golfito | January 16, 2010 at 08:57 PM
jets rule and dolphins suck .
Posted by: jet | January 16, 2010 at 08:59 PM
Hey---did anyone answer my earlier question?: is it true that Derrick Dooley turned down Fins DC job?
Here's an obvious idea based on this game......hire any Ravens defensive assistant, even if you don't know their name or background. Damn these dudes play some awesome D!
Posted by: The Seer | January 16, 2010 at 08:59 PM
Hal did you work at Madison Chapin back in like '87?
Posted by: YourBackDoorMan | January 16, 2010 at 08:59 PM
Dorian Gray, I like that metaphor. And you're right, not slowing down that I can tell.
Posted by: cocoajoe | January 16, 2010 at 09:00 PM
His new innovative 'can't touch this' scheme?
Posted by: LipsinToronto | January 16, 2010 at 09:01 PM
or rather, as my 2 year old nice used to sing instead of 'can't touch this... "no touch me"
it seem very Ginn appropriate.,
Posted by: LipsinToronto | January 16, 2010 at 09:02 PM
No Madison anything in Florida.
Posted by: HAL9000 | January 16, 2010 at 09:02 PM
Ted Ginn as DC defensive motto: "The Sideline is Your Best Friend."
Posted by: The Seer | January 16, 2010 at 09:04 PM
I worked at Ashley Madison!
Posted by: The Seer | January 16, 2010 at 09:04 PM
mando's got a new post ---do we go there? i'm burned out on Anquan Boldin speculation----we ain't giving up draft picks ina deep & rich draft.....least nuttin higher than a 5 or maybe if the earth moves a 4
Posted by: The Seer | January 16, 2010 at 09:06 PM
Where's that?
Posted by: HAL9000 | January 16, 2010 at 09:06 PM
New blog up on boldin that you are going to like.
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | January 16, 2010 at 09:08 PM
Boldin gets nicked up from time to time, but he still gives a lot more production in fewer opportunities than any one on our roster right now.
With Early Doucet coming on to go along with Fitzgerald and Breaston, the Cardinals may be more open to trading him for a decent price. At the very least it's something this franchise should be looking into.
As for Dansby, he may have had a bit of an off year this year, but Parcells once called him one of his favorite players, and he loves his veterans. Wouldn't shock me in the least if they definitely have their eyes on him.
Posted by: Rmbay | January 16, 2010 at 09:09 PM
I worked with a real fat f u c k named Hal in NYC in '87.
He was a 350 lb white Jew that loved to smoke crack.
We were stock brokers back then.
Posted by: YourBackDoorMan | January 16, 2010 at 09:09 PM
350 pounds ? that's him.
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | January 16, 2010 at 09:11 PM
He moved back to Ft. Lauderdale after he blew all of his money in '88 or so.
He's probably dead now anyway.
Posted by: YourBackDoorMan | January 16, 2010 at 09:12 PM
NJ PHIN FAN,boldin playd in 15 games this year, maybe not the full game but his stats are 84 1024 yds, lst year 12 games, didnt he miss a couple after that big hit that broke his jw? anyways last years stats are 89 catches 1038 yards. hes a 5 time 1000 yard receiver, has a chisled frame and i could see him lasting another 4 or 5 years much like t.o.
Pretty decent numbers to me whether its 12 games 15 games or whatever. Defintely an upgrade and he demands the defenses attention. he can catch the underneath, the long ball and is a great yac receiver. SO, thanks for stopping by......hater.
Posted by: CALEB | January 16, 2010 at 09:19 PM
Caleb , how many playoff games did he play this year ? O , he missed both games. Also read mando's new blog about boldin. Thanks for stopping by ........crybaby.
