Dolphins football czar Bill Parcells came out from behind the iron curtain of Dolphins silence Monday to do a live chat on NFL.com.
And during that chat he was asked about the Super Bowl, his time with the Cowboys, his relationship with Dan Henning, and other things. There were even a couple of good Dolphins questions that he talk.
The big headline of the entire chat?
Parcells is noncommittal about Jason Taylor's return to the Dolphins in 2010.
"I don't know the answer to the Taylor question at this moment," he said. "He's a free agent as of March 5 and we haven't discussed it yet. We'll see where that goes when the time comes."
Frankly, Taylor is noncommittal with the Dolphins as well. Why does this seem like two people who want to date but neither is willing to make the first move? Too bad because what normally happens in those cases is they wind up with other people.
New England Patriots? New York Jets?
The Big Tuna was asked if he took the call from Rex Ryan during the season when the Jets coach called for advice.
"Rex did call -- but it was for advice on the Breeder's Cup," Parcells answered. "I told him he should consult with someone else on that matter!"
Parcells was asked if the Dolphins are interested in bringing in a No. 1 receiver for quarterback Chad Henne.
"... we'd be interested in the position," he replied. "But they have to be available, we can't invent them."
Parcells was asked if the Dolphins might be interested in Chad Pennington as a coach, which is not a good question because Pennington wants to continue to play. And Parcells said as much.
"I think Chad's intention is to try to continue playing, so I don't think coaching is on the forefront for him right now," Parcells said.

See, LMAO...

krissy,
your post at 8:42 displays how much you know about football...
Joey Porter a good run defender? lol! And there are many reasons the Dolphins defense faltered at the end of the year, not just "too much Taylor." How about the injuries to big name players like Will Allen, that left our rookie cb's to fend for themselves? Or Jason Ferguson being injured, making the Dolphins much less effective against the run? How about Porter playing injured and being too much of a diva to let Wake in the game? How about lack of a good game plan (Pasqualoni)? How about the worst cover safety in the history of football, Mr. Gibril Wilson? How about the mediocre ILB's?

NJ,
Krissy is right, Miami should keep Porter to play some snaps at NT since he is so good against the run.

Posted by: stop the madness | February 01, 2010 at 09:08 PM
LOL @ carlito . Here i'm trying to explain that taylor is so much better than taylor playing the run that he was playing 1st and 2nd downs vs the run because miami had nobody better including porter . i said it was a mistake because he was playing to much and should've been save for pass ruhsing a little more but freaking porter wouldn't get off the field. It went right over her head but that's expected when you don't what the F your talking about. LMFAO !!!
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | February 01, 2010 at 09:10 PM
I can't believe Porter is complaining after the horrible year he had.Trade him to a stupid team maybe we can get a 4th round pick out of him.
Posted by: HeatDolphans#1 | February 01, 2010 at 09:11 PM
Typo , " better than porter "
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | February 01, 2010 at 09:11 PM
Hey heat , did you hear ?? Porter is great vs the run .
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | February 01, 2010 at 09:13 PM
Joey Porter said he was a "role player" in 2009 because he is a "team player" HA! He also got mad when Sparano told him he would not let him stop the development of his younger players. He also tried to sound like a team player saying he played injured, when in fact he hurt the team by not bringing his gimp azzz out of the game to let JT, Wake, and Charlie Anderson make some plays...
Some team player, get this guy out of here. He thinks he is bigger than the team.

Who?
Posted by: HeatDolphans#1 | February 01, 2010 at 09:30 PM
NJ,
2009 stats
JT 42 tackles, 33 solo, 7 sack
JP 41 tackles 34 solo, 9 sacks.
Looks like the same player to me. I am more inclined to agree with People who say dump them both.
The reason i like JP more is because he seems to still LOVE football.
JT left this team to go chase a ring in DC and made in impact there either. We went 11-5 and AFC East champs without him. As a matter of fact we have won very little with him. He may have been a great player but he done little in bringing wins playoff or otherwise to this or any other orginization. He is the best we have had for a long time. But he has not won in his carreer here EVER and its time for this orginization to bring in proven winners. Not also rans
Again I say 11-5 without JT
7-9 with JT
I don't think its a coincidence. I thin JP will better fit an aggressive style of defense and he can do more than simply rush the passer.

Lmao !! these people are nuts
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | February 01, 2010 at 09:44 PM
kris it's a well known fact Porter is bad against the run which is one of the several reasons the Steelers cut him.Porter wants to do things his way which is getting in the way of developing our young players.I would rather they trade him then cut him a 4th round pick would be great in return.
Posted by: HeatDolphans#1 | February 01, 2010 at 09:51 PM
First, ask yourself this, is there a receiver in this draft thats worth a first round pick. I don't see one....haven't we learned about selecting players with first round picks that aren't worthy...can we all name a few already on the roster. Now ask yourself this, if there's no receiver worthy of a first round pick...then would Marshall or a player like him be a better choice..of the use of that first round pick? I think so. I would like to see the Dolphins select McClain with the 12th pick, but what if he's not there, then what. Would it be strange to see the Dolphins trade back in the 20th pick range to pick up another draft pick...would it also be strange to see Denver work out a trade, NOT needing another first round pick, since they already have two.
Imagine if the Dolphins could work out a trade with Denver for two second round picks for Marshall...and still have their first rounder to acquire a player like Williams or Graham.
Of course it could also go that Denver would still want the Dolphins first rounder for Marshall, and that would still be a great deal, leaving the Dolphins with a solid number one receiver and two second rounder's...so there's a few ways to look at this...it's early, but as always it's fun to think about the future of the draft.

Remember when Wannstedt called Parcells for advice when he was coaching the Cowboys? Wannstedt should have been fired on the spot for stupidity after doing that.
Wannstedt did come up with a great solution to the problem though. Let's pull the starting QB at halftime of the first game.

Heres a video of Porter.

Posted by: HeatDolphans#1 | February 01, 2010 at 10:04 PM
HeatDolphins,
If Porter is stunting the growth of young player then yes he should go. But its hard for me to imagine the Tuna and crew allowing him to stick around if he is as big a discipine problem that is being reported.
Besides. The Tuna isn't looking for someone to kiss his a**. He is looking for competent football players. Who love football.
Posted by: kris | February 01, 2010 at 10:10 PM
kris it's Porter who's saying he wants to leave.Yeah he loves football but do you really want a guy who doesn't want to play for your team. He's a decent player but going on live TV basically saying you want out is unforgivable.
