Dolphins interview McCluster; Boldin on the market

The Combine is in full workout mode with offensive linemen running and jumping and pushing and pulling today. And of course, there is news.

Arizona Cardinals Rod Graves just made it official: Anquan Boldin in on the trade market.

"We're receptive to taking any calls," Graves said today. "I don't want to get into specifics but we're going to look at all the possibilities."

Alrightie then ...Let the Boldin to Dolphins speculation heat up.

I do not believe the Dolphins would give up a second round pick for Boldin. They probably wouldn't give up a third, either, because it's such a high pick in the round. A fourth-rounder?

Yes. That's the ticket.

The tight ends ran today. Pittsburgh's Dorin Dickerson ran a 4.40. He's a 230-pound tight end, but has wide receiver speed. The guy also has 34-inch arms and benched 225 pounds 28 times.

Miami tight end Jimmy Graham ran a 4.60. Jermaine Gresham ran a 4.76.

Something you should know is the latest report from aspiring scout Chris Cordero, who has been doing outstanding work checking out the talent in Indianapolis and reporting back to you.

According to Cordero, Mississippi running back Dexter McCluster spoke to the media today. McCluster said he had already interviewed with the Dolphins.

That's significant because the Dolphins loved McCluster at the Senior Bowl, spent a lot of time with him there, and clearly found nothing that eliminated the Mississippi WR-RB-Specialist from more scrutiny.

From Cordero:

McCluster measured in at [5081] and expects to run in the 4.3s. He will work at both RB and WR Sunday. He loves returning - especially punts - and says he is willing and able to cover punts as well.

You have to love any kid that says he's willing to get down field on special teams coverage. but when that player has been a star in the SEC that says something special. He doesn't feel entitled. He believes he has something to prove.

By the way, Rex Ryan talked to the media and took his usual swipe at the Dolphins. In talking about the the division he mentioned New England, Miami, and Buffalo. Then Ryan said, "I know Miami will be ticked because I never mention them first or put them on top, but I don't care."

On his infamous fingergate episode in South Florida during Pro Bowl week:

"Regardless of the circumstances I made a mistake," Ryan said. "I have to take responsibility for my own actions. I will learn from it."

Carlito , i know and i was answering your question. :)

Rob,

I would like to see more consistency in your arguments at times. When breaking down Earl Thomas, your only real critique of him was being too frail. A good point, and it is a question mark. My reply to you was that he wasn't going to be an in-the-box Safety, he would be at times, but mostly the CF kinda guy.

Then today, you want to being up the great RBs who may have been considered undersized. What I can tell you, one position where all 11 guys are trying to hit you everytime is RB. Even if not used like a traditional RB, he will find himself contacted on almost every play.

Well I gave you a similar set of Safeties not much bigger than Thomas. My thought is you are very much locked in to the few players you like, and will not budge at all. To the point where you want to argue the most minute of points.

You have a good knowledge, but this blog is not who is the biggest football genius. It's about everyone trying ti present different guys they like, different opinions. You do a great job of it, but try to be consistent in your arguments.

Thank you bootang.

Carlito,

McCluster is a guy I don't think will be there come our pick in round 3, but I think if so, he will be a name brought up in our war room. I have said a few times ilike Blount in the 4th round. I think he is a potential sledgehammer, and we all know how much damage Ricky and Ronnie do to opposing defenses.

I can't get over how much Jordan Shipley looks like a bigger version of Wes Welker...it's scary.

Watch this video of him and see for yourself...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1te2nR2SBE8

Watch at 1:21 and 5:05 marks the moves he puts on some hapless would be tacklers. This guy will be a gamer and I hope he doesn't end up with NE! The Welker pain is just now starting to die down.

Cheers,

love is not easy , to be or not to be ,that's the question donkeys .

chile is a great place to be,it's the most advanced country in south america and has a beautiful people and great system .

Ron, I think Shipley is a potential steal for someone. We have 3 comparable guys in Bess, Hartline, and Camarillo. I could see Shipley going somewhere and catch 40 balls right away, and have an impact in the return game.

NJ PHIN,

What am I talking about (your amnesia)???

Here is YOUR recent post:

Mitcell . 10 5/8 in hands ( big hands ) . He benched 16 times with high being 20 for wr. Not bad, pretty strong. shows he ca beat press coverage. Cj spiller came in at 5-10 5/8 196 pounds. he came in small. questions remain if he's a everydown back and if he can take the pounding. Miami won't take him.

Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | February 28, 2010 at 01:25 PM

Um, thats what I am talking about. Do you see how you talking about both guys in the same posts gets a response?

Cheers,

Aloco, sorry I didn't answer u last night, had things to do...I have an I-Phone to answer ur question..I thought it would be a toy when I first got it, but it's invaluable to me now...personally I don't know what I would do without it!!!

why i feel so ,that i read all these posts before w/ the names of the players drafted changed .

B12, MY GIRL FRIEND GAVE UP ON THE I PHONE , WE REFUSE TO WORK FOR AT AND T .BTW .....WHAT YOU TALK ABOUT ON YOUR PHONE ? CRAP?

Bobbyd,

The iPhone is crazy. I too didn't think it would be so addictive, but I don't think I could not have a smart phone anymore. Except the stupid Dolphins app isn't working.

NJ PHIN,

You never took my wager on YOUR man WR Carlton Mitchell?? I NEVER thought you would back down from a fair wager??? Didn't think you could run from a good heated discussion of someone you are all over.

For any that don't know the final wager offer was if Carlton went in the 3rd round NJ Phin won. If he went in the 4rth round it was a tie and if he went 5th round I won. How much more fair do you want than that?

Hmmm, you ain't goin yella on us are you? LOL.

Cheers,

THE I PHONE IS WORKING FOR A LOT IF PEOPLE B/C YOU CAN BE ON THE INTERNET ANY TIME ,YOU DON'T NEED TO BE HOME TO GO TO THE INTERNET . JUST PURE PULSH.....T.THE IPAD THE SAME THING BUT BIGGER .

WOOW Rob !!! . you are F'n impossible. Are you that slow ???Where in my post did i compare the 2 ???. I mentioned some further #'s on mitchell from the previous comments on him. i ended it with a period . Then , i went on to talk about spiller and what he measured out and stated he wasn' a fit for miami. 2 DIFFERENT SUBJECTS. if you couldn't comprehend that , then i don't know what to tell you.

CHILE IS A GREAT COUNTRY NOT LIKE MEXICO OR COSTA RICA .

Maybe the Dolphins could request Dez Bryant's combine results from the Under Armour commercial? Though his line in the commercial should be "I Wont"

Bootang,

I agree re: Mcluster and Blount. I think Blount might not be around in the 4th depending on his performance today.

Even though I dont think he will be picked by the fins, as he will probably be gone in the 2nd, but I think Gerhart is the definition of a "Parcells Guy", if only he were from Jersey the deal would be sealed. ;)

LMFAO !! there's nothing to wager or discuss . I don't run from anything , especially nonsense from you. You had NO IDEA who carlton mitchell was in the first place. i told you to keep an eye on him and check him out. He could be a 3rd rounder maybe 4rth with some scouts saying 2nd. You did and you caame back saying according to you he was a 6-7 round pick or a street free agent who might get invited to a camp. LMAO ! I called you out on the yesterday on that, you got alittle embarrsed and came back today saying he was a 4rth or 5th rounder. LOL !! T me and others this sound like a no brainer on who wins any wager. you had no clue who he was . I'm done with this. Sorry if got embarressed. Cheers !!!

Carlito,

Mortenson said that Gerhart had some studies done showing how he really is a better athlete than he is given credit for. I also heard Gerhart make a joke about only being compared to white players. Pretty funny.

Gerhart just ran 4.5

Montario Hardesty having a good workout today

NJ, COOL DOWN ..YOU WIN .

LOL . rob is getting ready to give the gettysburg address . Get ready !!

CHILE IS A GREAT COUNTRY , THE BEST IN SOUTH AMERICA NOT LIKE COSTA RICA OR MEXICO.

McCluster coming up soon in the 40...

Aloco , did you buy your girlfriend with the great azzzzz an i phone yet

Lmao NJ

Aloco,

You need to go back to school and learn geography... Mexico and Costa Rica are not in South America. At least you learned something today.

NJ , NO BUT LET ASK DO YOU MOTHER STILL HAS A STINKY AZZZZZZ

I DIDN'T SAY THEY ARE ARE IN SOUTH AMERICA CARLITO .

Bootang,

In my pointed discussion with NJ PHIN I was bringing up the fact that all the guys I had posted (Barry Sanders, Chris Johnson, Emmitt Smith) were smallish RBs and had knocks about them being able to take the pounding of and everydown back.

Heck, Ronnie Brown had his big butt questioned about taking the pounding as he was splitting time with Cadillac Willaims in college and he was the 2nd guy getting less carries.

I know this much, EVERYONE has a least a few question marks as that is the nature of the talent evaluation beast. I think E. Thomas is a good player but commented on his smaller size being one of the things someone could ding him on, that's all. If you think he is plenty big enough for your perfect team... cheer for him to be drafted...np.

Cheers,

CHILE IS A GREAT COUNTRY , THE BEST IN SOUTH AMERICA NOT LIKE COSTA RICA OR MEXICO.

Rob,

We are talking football, not big butts taking a pounding. If you want that there are other websites...

Bootang,

I think #12 is too early for S E. Thomas just like many think Spiller should not even go 1st round as he is a 15-17 carry utility RB. It's a fair enough thought that I can't totally discount it. I do see a lot more use than that (RB, KR, PR, WR) and only time can tell if I am right or others are right.

The Titans DAMN sure didn't take Chris Johnson saying "Oh for sure we are gonna run this guy so many times he could chase 2000 yards!" No way. After he came to them they started to see more and more that he could handle a larger role. The flat fact that Chris Johnson is a full time starter and is nearly a clone size wise of Spiller should support my point. Just like Bob Sanders plays safety and is a smaller guy...E. Thomas could do it too.

Me personally I would like Safety Morgan Burnett in the 2nd or 3rd before E. Thomas. He has 178 tackles and 11 INTs in the past 2 years and is a bit bigger at 6' 1" and 210.

You ONLY find out about player AFTER they get into an NFL camp and start playing.

Asking me for consistency is like say "Please lock in and say bigger or smaller?...you can only chose one". I DO NOT put the same rigid size constraints on the ALL the players I think can play like say BP would.

I prefer more of a Colts strategy and find guys of all sizes that fit a scheme.

Cheers,

Boontang . Blount ran a 4.62 . Hardesty ran a 4.49. Hardesty is a big boy too. i like hardesty bettet and has less baggage

Rob,

Also, you can not fool us by breaking your long-winded novels into 2 less long-winded novels. No one likes a mini series

YOU TALKING OUT OF CONTEST CARLITO I MADE THE STATEMENT IT'E THE BEAST IN SOUTH AMERICA AND EVEN BETTER THAN MEXICO AND COSTA RICA .WHERE DID I SAY THEY ARE IN SOUTH AMERICA ?

NJ PHIN,

So now I am suppose to divine that even though you put tweo guys in the same post I am supose to assume you meant two different topics?

Yup, call me slow!

LOL

You good man..ducking "The Wager"!

Cheers

Aloco . i told you if your into 65 year old women , more power to you . i'm sure your mother and sister along with your girl also have a stinky azzzz

NJ,

beat you to it at 2:20

Rob,

Who would you be more worried about holding up to the physical pounding of the NFL?

A 195 lb S
A 196 lb RB

NJ HAS A MOTHER WHO HAS A STINKY AZZZZZZZZZ

Ben Tate from Aubrun 4.45

carlito, Sharp as a tack...you do have the rapier wit my brutha! LOL

Rob,

Lol all in good fun!

WOW! Jahvid Best 4.33!!!! He is almost a lock for the Chargers I think...

Aloco, I only talk crap on my I phone when I talking to u

Rob , You're good at trying to cover up and spin on your initial take of mitchell being a 6-7 the round pick or a street free agent who will be invited to camp. LOL !! Now you want be to give up the 4rth round which was my intial pick along with round 3. I already made my point but just to have some fun i will take the bet along with a asterick that says you had no idea about mitchell and said that he was a 6-7 or a free agent . :)

Carlito,

I do know this. Regardless of Chad Henne and his continued growth, the addition of another playmaker to the offense (whether that be TE or WR) I do think we are looking hard at drafting a RB. They did not want to abandon the Wildcat last year. They just didn't have the bodies to run it. People that think the Wildcat is done, IMO, are wrong. They will use it less, but it will be a part of the offense.

So I definately see a RB in the plans. With Ricky and Ronnie both getting older, being under contract through this year only, they need that contingency.

bootang,

I agree on rb, but 3rd round or later only

FYI . 1 or more players are mentioned in the same comment post or paragraph all the time on her . Nothing new . The little think called a period breaks up the sentence and starts a new one. No divine neede, just simple common sense. CHEERS !! :)

New blog up. Carlton Mitchell brought up a few times lol.

Guys i'm off to watch the USA vs CANADA ( 3 pm ) gold medal final with some friend along with getting something to eat.

Friends !!! . new blog about mitchell ?? i have to check it out. spiller about to run.

NJ PHIN,

Thanks NJ! It is a friendly wager for literally nothing so I think we can both pony up if we lose.

I am not sure how many ways or times you want me to say...He is YOUR guy, YOU found him, I NEVER knew a thing about him until you said something. There is no spin. I reviewed the guy very quickly the other evening and jumped on to make a quick post letting you know I looked at a few vids of YOUR guy. I didn't even look to see if anyone had the guy ranked and threw out the 6-7 round FA grade due to his small school. I said all those things... no spin. After further review, I bumped him up from 6-7 FA to 4-5. Not that huge of a deal I didn't think.

You blame the bad QB for his less than dominating numbers vs low level comp? 9 TD's in a whole career is not very many...would you agree?

If you can find ANY post you had stating anything about the 4rth round before today I would be suprised and grateful. It's all good if you can't because I sure could not.

No worries. We can always chirp at each other and not mean anything bad by it bud.

Cheers,

Rob , mitchell missed to games and played with a redshirt frosh. i had plenty of talks with marcus on several blogs here about mitchell going in the 3rd or 4rth. i'm not going go and find them . it will be a waste of time and take awhile. marcus will back me up.
