More in the latest-breaking updates from the Indianapolis Combine:
Aspiring scout Chris Cordero reports Notre Dame wide receiver Golden Tate will be interviewing with the Dolphins Friday night. He also has other nuggets.
From Cordero:
Tate mentioned that he will be speaking with the Dolphins tonight. Looks small but with a solid build -- reminds of Steve Smith and if he runs well will go in 1st round. Tate expects to run sub-4.5. If he were to fall to 2nd round would be a steal there.
He doesn't fit the mold of the big physical receiver the Dolphins supposedly want but is a playmaker as
evidenced by outstanding stats in a pro-style offense.
Another receiver, underclassmen wideout Dezmon Briscoe from Kansas measured 6-2 and change and
weighed in at 207. He expects to run in the 4.5 range. He says he has spoken to "many" of the WR-needy teams but wouldn't name them. He could be a nice 3rd-round pick for the Dolphins - but if he runs well he could go in the 2nd round.
Briscoe says he is friends and looks up to Dez Bryant and tries to take as much from him as possible since he is a great player.
Arrelious "Rejus" Benn of Illinois is meeting with Ravens. He is possibily their No. 1 pick. He says he's a good blocker. If the Ravens take him, it knocks one possible Dolphins 2nd-rounder off the board. If he runs well, though, he's a 1st round lock.
Benn said he talks a lot to former teammate Vontae Davis.
Update 2:30:
Dez Bryant, who has 9 3/4 inch hands, talked the media and apologized for misleading the NCAA about going to Deion Sanders house during offseason training. The visit itself was not a violation, but the lie was and he was suspended for the entire season.
"I'm back on track and ready to go," he said.
Bryant said he didn't think the suspension would affect his draft status but added, "That's not my call. My biggest regret during that situation? My biggest regret is just not telling the truth."
Obviously, Bryant has been "coached" to say these things. But at least he followed the game plan.
Update 4:30:
Bryant has a hamstring injury and will not work out at the Combine.

mike,
Not sure J Graham can or will last to the 6th. I would take him there in a heart beat. I have him as a mid 4rth or later.
The Brandon Marshall deal seems unlikely unless you pick another player to trade. BP & Co giving up Pat White the year after he was drafted would be too much of a smudge on the their draft record. I honestly think he will be on the team a minimum of 4 years as they try to coax out what they saw when they drafted him.
We have similar drafts working at this stage. I have OLB Brandon Graham 1st round, NT Cam Thomas 2nd, ILB Micah Johnson 3rd, Jerry 4th, Barnes 6th. BPA's
I could see the big push to grab Dansby and for me he would make most any draft strategy better. He only hurts in Ross's wallet (not picks) and we can get him in and use him a few different ways ILB/OLB. He could help create a lot of Nolan looks to get a nice LB situation brewing. If he signs for more than his production after a couple of years than release him.
Cheers,

If you act like a justified and are justified it means you are rich.
If you act like a diva without justification then you look like a h0m0.
And if you cheer for team that runs the backdoor wildcat every single play then you are a h0m0.
(That being said I try to live by the words Cardinal O'Conner told Mayor Koch, "Hate the sin, love the sinner".)

You all know it's going to happen like that. Anyone that believes differently spends a lot of time jerking off.

Whats the latest on nate jones negotiations?
Posted by: KRUT | February 26, 2010 at 05:34 PM
Bootang you want to draft EThomas with the #12 pick or trade back to get him later in the 1st? I have EThomas ranked 2nd at S but have him as a 15 to 25 range and I think at this point it will be a reach at #12. Hughes is a good pick at #43 but Micah Johnson is coming off a bad injury and should be around in the 4th. NT in the 4th will be a back up at that point with all the top NTs gone by then. IMO we can do better than that but I do hope we get Dansby.

I gonna go eat and take a break.
NJ PHIN, before I come back on I will look into WR Carlton Mitchell and let you know what I think.
Thanks for the tip.
Cheers Fin Fans!

ROB in OC... As far as TE go I have been watching Dennis Pitta 6'5 247 out of BYU. I believe Miami could grab him in the 4th. He has the size (like to see 6'7 but ?) and is a very good blocker with brains. He is ranked 136 and his stock is up. He is expected to go as high as early 3rd or as low as late 6th. Leaves room to grab him with a 4th. Another choice would be home town boy Jimmy Graham 6'6 250 out of the "U". He has the biggest hand of all 6 TE's who were at the SB... and is also a good blocking TE and has a 39" vertical leap. With only 1 year under Randy Shannon (he played B-Ball mainly but switched out) he may not go as high and be a great grab in mid-rounds. Sparano showed interest in him at the senior bowl and Hey! "They have the same agent!" Either of these two would be a good opportunity for Miami. I am partial to Graham... he is a Homer.

FA will tell the story for us in the draft if we get Dansby that almost guarantees we will draft OLB with the 1st pick unless Dez is there at #12 and that does not look like it will happen but we still have the combine and proday and alot can happen. I do think we are in good position to make the playoffs if we can address the ILB,OLB,FS,WR, NT in FA and draft

Ok, here is as of today the consensus Mock Draft picks from over 500 Mock Draft "experts" Round 1 236 pick McClain 120 pick Dan Williams, 112 pick Dez Bryant, 56 pick Terrence Cody ???? 41 pick Pierre-Paul. Round 2 Kindle and Ricky Sapp tied, Arrelios Benn, Golden Tate, then fat man Cody again...That is the Consensus numbers as of today

WHAT ?????
Posted by: NJ PHIN FAN | February 26, 2010 at 05:53 PM
I hope we bring back Penn and trade Thigpin for a 5th or 6th rd pick that would give us 10 picks and alot of flexability to trade up or down depending who the draft falls for us.

Mosi/Hawaii Pat Turner was a Rook to say he is a bust shows your football IQ. A WR coming out of college will have growing pains in the NFL. I think the reason he did not get to play last yr was STeams, a #3 WR or more must play STeams if he wants to be active but PTurner did not catch on so he was not activated. Lets give the guy a chance before we call him a bust. Hartline did not start at the beginning but was activated because he was a STeams standout and over time got in the starting linup and played well. PTurner is a big WR with great hands and if he can learn to play at this level will be outr rdezone threat.
