Super Bowl Sunday live blog right here

Super Sunday!

It is here and one can only imagine a future Sunday such as this iduring which we are watching the Miami Dolphins in the ultimate NFL game. OK, daydream over.

It's about the Colts and the Saints today.

I have picked the Colts. They're the better team. I hope the Saints win. They're the better story. Plus, I love underdogs.

We will be blogging live throughout the day and game. I will be on here around 5 p.m. and we can start then.

Meantime, let me give you a few things to consider:

It is gorgeous here in South Florida, if you happen to be one of my readers from out of the area. And yet, this paradise I call home is under pressure from the NFL to improve Sun Life Stadium to bring it up to the NFL's standards.

That tells me the game might not be returning to Miami for a long time. As it stands, the next game up for bid is 2014. The NFL will award that game in two or three months and I doubt they will give it to Miami only months removed from our last game.

But there are other issues that suggest the game might not be back here in a long time. Seems the NFL wants a roof over Sun Life Stadium because it wants to guard against the possibility of rain here. The Dolphins have already put out designs for such a structure. They've given no price tag on the structure -- that has a hole atop it, by the way -- but it is clear they don't want to pay the hundreds of millions it might cost to make it reality.

As a taxpayer and football fan and someone not insane, I think the roof over Sun Life is a terrible idea and not just because it looks hideous.

Even if you forget that the Dolphins have a weather advantage in early season home games and a cover might negate that, even if you forget we are in a recession, I object to the idea because I refuse to bow to the NFL's hypocrisy on the issue.

The fact is Tampa will continue to bid on Super Bowls but the NFL has not asked that region to put a roof on their stadium.

The fact is the NFL cannot be so concerned about rain here on Super Bowl Sunday here while lifting the weather clause from its Super Bowl bidding rules to allow the new Giants/Jets Stadium (which has no cover) to bid on the 2014 game.

(Super Bowls are by rule not to be played in areas where the average January/February weather averages below 50 degrees unless the game is to be played indoors. New Jersey fails on both counts, which is why the league conveniently lifted the clause this one time.)

Anyway, you probably don't feel strongly about this unless you're a South Florida resident. I am. I want Super Bowl's to continue coming here. It's a good thing. But we're good for them because this is a great place to be in February.

And that doesn't mean we should have to live up to rules no other region has to abide by. Period.

Anyway, one last thing before the live blog: I will be among the 16 panelists casting a ballot on the Super Bowl MVP tonight. At the right time, I will ask my twitter followers to tweet me their reasoned suggestions for MVP. I will take those suggestions into consideration in making my choice.

So follow me on twitter.

someone named Porter makes a play... wow

Don't do a damn thing, within 5 years the Superbowl will be right back here again. The weather is better then anywhere else in the Nation (not in a friggin desert anyway)... Let them try to bluff and whine and cry... in the end the South Florida Superbowl committee will bid them into submission.

I didn't see any BACKDOOR football plays like the wildcat.

Are the Patriots still a dynasty even though the Saints won?

Why did they have to say the Dolphins passed up Brees in the draft and via free agency a total of 6 times today 3 times during the superbowl.. The best one with 30 seconds on the clock.

This just shows you how inept the Dolphins organization was/is. We had a chance at Brees not once, but twice. That could have been us today. But no, we have to always go with the obscure, and enigmatic choice. Culpepper instead of Brees. Good job Mueller/Saban.
Now, I see the Dolphins making the same mistake with Dez Bryant or CJ Spiller if they're available. Instead, they will go with a LB such as Mc Lain. When are they going to realize that we need a freakin' playmaker on offense? A receiver or RB that can take it all the way on any given play?
I watched all of our games this season, and not one TD we scored, with the expection of Ginn's 55 yd TD against the jets, has gone for more than 15 yards. I'm sad to say that Ginn is our only playmaker on offense; he has the longest TD's all year; and yet he cannot be relied on. What does that tell you?
It's very sad to know that Parcells will still be stubborn enough to go after a LB or DL in the draft in the first round.
Same old Dolphins, they will never change.

Where do jacka$$'s like FB , who nothing about football come from ?? Can someone please tell me ???

They watch ESPN for a day and now think they Chris Berman or some shyt

Great Game. Nice to see 2 teams play "Big Boy Football" Does anyone out there really believe the Phins can reach the next level with an offense that resembles 8 man high school football.

Dont under estimate rookies... Exmpl; Mark Sanchez

Even tho i hate him

Hey Chihuahua Chalupa, instead of being offensive like that, why don't you refute what I'm saying and enlighten us with you wits? I can tell that you know a lot more about football than I do. Let's hear your logic.

Dolfan4lyfe, how about some spelling classes? Did you go to 1st grade?

No need for explanation. Your post was self -explanatory . You know SH*T about Football.

FB,

You must not have watched any of our games this year. We scored quite a bit over the course of the year but our D usually lost games. We had the most big plays given up of any team(Yes, that means we need D players if you didnt get that).

Brees had a lot of short passes for about 10-12 yards. He is the guy who won the game BTW. Did you watch this game at all?

Thank You yaya !!!!.

Hey Darryl,

Big boy football traditionally has been a running game with bruising O-line play, large HBs and bruising D. I didnt see any of that tonight. I saw two very good QBs light up 2 decent defenses and a CB opportunistically win the game.

We play Big Boy football and since 2 Parcells proteges won 2 of the last 3 SBs...I kinda think he knows a shyt ton more about football than you.

Sorry, The wildcat is awesome!

since 2 Parcells proteges won 2 of the last 3 SBs...I kinda think he knows a shyt ton more about football than you.

I think that says it all quite well.

Im with FB....we will never be elite until we have weapons....now can we get off the SAINTS...and start talking DOLPHINS.???

Our season starts NOW..!!

We need Brandon Marshall or Spiller or BRYANT at 12....yes I know BM is a FA....MAKE THE FRIKKIN TRADE and solve the position for 6 years FFS...Alfy from OZZZZZZ

Darryl , that was a lame comeback at yaya. You copied him.

OH...and do not trade TYLER THIGPEN....he is special....see who wants Pat White and DO IT..cut your losses...

Bigafly is another jackA$$ who knows nothing about football. His 2 posts including the " thigpen will be special post " are self- explanatory of just how clueless he is .

Wow!fb must be retarded,if uve watched any games from phins"expecally saints and colts"which we shoulda won you'll see that our offence wasn't horrible but wasn't explosive but we were up by alot in those 2 games...then the defense kicks in the sleep mode and let's the teams come back to tie or get ahead of us..then last play for phins we bomb one down to ginn...on both games he dropps the game winner in the endzone and could very possibly be in the playoffs..so even though ginn made the best plays of the year he's a horrible wr. He drops what like 40-60% of the passes easy or hard, long or short, week after week...he's not our best offensive weapon.retard we need help on defense and congrat to saints on superbowl

First time I actually saw Joe Robbie sun life pro player tila tequila dolphin stadium packed with fans in a looong time

All my posts that are derogatory of Chalupo are being erased....Chalupo are yoiu doing it???
