Well, you saw the long and unimpressive list of unrestricted free agents that could hit the market once free agency begins March 5. That list is unimpressive because it lacks the younger, in-their-prime group of players that typically become free agents every spring -- the guys with four or five years of experience with expiring contracts.
If there is no new collective bargaining agreement by March 5 and the NFL goes to an uncapped year, players must have at least six credited NFL seasons to be considered unrestricted free agents. Fewer than six credited seasons and a player is restricted.
What follows are the more than 200 players with four or five credited season who will be restricted, rather than unrestricted, if 2010 is uncapped.

I like quite a few WR this year after Bryant... Ranked in order...
1. Golden Tate - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWfA5-Q0s-0&feature=related
2. Demaryius Thomas ( Broke his foot yesterday) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nDhGrYAx5g
3. Arrelious Benn - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99YXtr4teGs
4. Eric Decker - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPIsGBDkHik
5. Dexter McCluster - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hb-chWh64Dc
6. Carlton Mitchell - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7VAx4di8D4
Still doing some research but this is who I like so far...

I do not think other than Bryant there is a receiver worth taking......
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:26 PM
Is it really worth even talking about restricted FA's? Our front office is not going to give up the draft picks for any Restricted FA!
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 01:26 PM
In the whole draft? Or just at 12?
Posted by: Marcus | February 18, 2010 at 01:27 PM
Marcus - Do you not like Gilyard out of Cincinatti?
WestVaFan - Worth taking with what pick? I do not think Bryant is worth taking in first round
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 01:27 PM
Excluding worth and hypotheically speaking, if we had to take a WR with the #12 spot who would you take besides Dez Bryant?
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 01:28 PM
There is not a receiver IMO other than Bryant that should be taken before the third round.......
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:29 PM
especially not if you are the Miami Dolphins
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:29 PM
I think RFAs are a mute point. I don't see Parcells giving up draft picks to sign any RFAs.
Posted by: Datajack | February 18, 2010 at 01:31 PM
COntinued from the last blog re: best available player.
And anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that my favourite prospect for the Dolphins is Derrick Morgan at OLB period. I only back off from that pick because of the bevy of prospects at that position versus the few at ILB and NT.
Round 2 should be reserved for OLB or Brandon Spikes if we didn't go ILB in the 1st round or free agency IMHO. It's imperative that an ILB is grabbed in either FA or day one of the draft. Otherwise you aren;t getting one that will help us next year.
And one more note regarding 'Spoon. I look at him strictly as an ILB for Miami's puposes in 2010. He will tackle well and cover the middle of the field like no other ILB coming out of this draft.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | February 18, 2010 at 01:33 PM
It would be nice to get Bryant, and then hope that Tate or Gilyard slide to the 3rd round, then maybe we could trade Camarillo
Posted by: nickfury99 | February 18, 2010 at 01:37 PM
Indiana, I'm not much of a fan of Gilyard... He was productive in college and had a good Senior Bowl but he doesn't seem to me like he will be a big time player at the next level. He doesn't have elite speed, size or intangibles... He has been through somethings that have built his character but I don't think Miami needs that type of player... Ginn and Bess fill his role right now... If you look on my list, the only player that favors him is McCluster... And McCluster is very physical and has elite speed.
Posted by: Marcus | February 18, 2010 at 01:38 PM
Pennington could end up in Arizona, according to John Clayton from ESPN.
Posted by: nickfury99 | February 18, 2010 at 01:39 PM
For those that dont watch big east football Cincinnatis offense was not as pass heavy as Texas Tech but resembled that very much. So like Texas Tech and hawaii that have pass happy offenses they do not produce very good pros. There college stats are severely elevated due to the system.... Gilyard is not an elite receiver and i dont think he ever will be in the league.......
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:41 PM
do not think he will ever be productive in the league i should say.
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:41 PM
On a side note . spoon will be a better olb in the 4-3 and most likely not be on the dolphins.
Posted by: HOME | February 18, 2010 at 01:41 PM
McCluster is one hit away from spleen removal surgery. Way too frail. Gilyard would be a good player only to fulfill Ginn's role of WR/KR. he does have 4.4 speed which is still fast by today's standards.
Another mighty mite is jacoby Ford of Clemson. Sub 4.4 speed 185 lbs on 5'8 so he's more sturdy than McCluster. Good player.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | February 18, 2010 at 01:42 PM
What is required to acquire a player off this list? Is it a trade, or does the team said player is on get the opportunity to match the offer?
Posted by: perspective | February 18, 2010 at 01:42 PM
Pennington could go sit on a rail bare A** in the middle of a snow storm and i still couldtn care less where he is............
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:42 PM
Pennington could end up in Arizona, acoording to ESPN's John Clayton
Posted by: nickfury99 | February 18, 2010 at 01:43 PM
Mark in Toronto, last post on this from me, u won't find one NFL scout, one article, one person saying Weatherspoon is better then McClain PERIOD...you can argue till ur blie in the face but not expert will back u...Rolando McClain is rated as THE NUMERO UNO LB in this draft, anyone else is second best
Posted by: bobbyd12 | February 18, 2010 at 01:44 PM
On a side note. spoon will be a better olb in the 4-3 than a ilb and most likely won't end up in miami anyway.
Posted by: HOME | February 18, 2010 at 01:45 PM
Penne will play for the Rams this year and split snaps with Vick
Posted by: Waterboy | February 18, 2010 at 01:48 PM
bobby, actually the person's opinion I value the most says Weatherspoon over McClain and I've never argues 'Spoon over McClain. I say 'Spoon=McClain.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | February 18, 2010 at 01:49 PM
None of these RFA is worth the bother. Keep your picks and get fresh blood.
Posted by: Waterboy | February 18, 2010 at 01:49 PM
Datajack,
I could see Parcels giving up a draft pick for Miles Austin.
Posted by: perspective | February 18, 2010 at 01:51 PM
There is not a receiver IMO other than Bryant that should be taken before the third round.......
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 01:29 PM
That is a very bold statement. Do you honestly think there are 64 players that should be taken before ANY WR is taken?? WOW...
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 01:51 PM
What is the over/under on Mel Kiper JRs catch phrase " He has smooth hips" from here on out till draft day.
I say 45

According to the Cardinals official site, GM Rod Graves stated that the team is seriously considering trading wide receiver Anquan Boldin.
Look for Boldin to become a Miami Dolphin. It is going to happen whether you peeps hate it or love it. I do not see them passing on Boldin via trade unless the Cardinals are wanting to much (ex. anything higher than a 3rd)
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 01:53 PM
Waterboy @ 1:52 - Good one!! Since you ask i will go with good ol Zach Thomas's number 54
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 01:54 PM
My reports on the guys below...
1. Golden Tate - Exactly what Miami needs at receiver... Physical RAC specialists who runs like a runningback after the catch... Some say he reminds them of Steve Smith but his game reminds me of Anquan Boldin.
2. Demaryius Thomas ( Broke his foot yesterday) - You want Brandon Marshall? Here he is... This guy looks like a Marshall clone... Physically imposing and can get deep... Averaged 25 yards a catch last season... Was rumored to run a sub 4.4 40 before he broke his foot yesterday that would have put him in the first round...
3. Arrelious Benn - Well built receiver who played for a QB this year that couldn't get him the ball much... Good speed, was used in multiple ways (screens, reverses, returns) Gets good RAC after catch.
4. Eric Decker - Here is a guy that we already have. Greg Camarillo. We really don't need him but I like him so I put him on the list... He runs good routes, has good hands and is a big target. Isn't a speed guy.
5. Dexter McCluster - Speedster, reminds me of Chris Johnson... Small but solidly built... Can take it to the house at any second... Can be used in multiple ways... Could fill the RAC reciever void in the 3rd round and allow Miami to focus on other needs in the first two rounds.
6. Carlton Mitchell - Big guy 6-4 215... Good speed and can get deep... Reminds me of TO with his RAC ability... Will be available in the middle rounds so could be a steal...

The Cardinals will not use their franchise tag on linebacker Karlos Dansby, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Indiana
Other than bryant that is how i feel. And especially if you are the dolphins. now if you are a team that is pretty set everywhere and need some offense then sure pick a wr i just think that most of them will be non factors in the nfl.... the running backs dominated college football this past year. Other than bryant no big hype about a receiver i dont think.....

Perspective, what world do u live in??? Do u know what ur talking about??? How did u get on a "football" blog??? With no CBA the Phins would have to give up a first AND third for Austin Miles.. NOT GONNA HAPPEN
Posted by: bobbyd12 | February 18, 2010 at 01:56 PM
Mark, McCluster is as thick or thicker than Ted Ginn, Mardy Gilyard and Desean Jackson.
Posted by: Marcus | February 18, 2010 at 01:57 PM
I say we sign Pennington, keep Porter...
after that trade them both to the Cardinals for Boldin!!
HAHA...I'm sure this post will get plenty of criticism. I'm not 100% demanding this happen nor think it will happen. Just a comment for debate LOL

Also, one more thing on McClain. I have heard a lot about missing tackles or arm tackling. We can all agree that tackling is probably as poor as it has ever been? Is that to say defenders arent being coached on proper technique? Doubt it. The offenses are spread out more than ever. It is harder to take angles than ever before. Much more difficult to tackle a guy in space. That is what offenses are about now, getting their best players and athletes in space. I don't care how the tackle is made, even a shoelace tackle, as long as it gets made. The game is evolutionizing, and you can't expect the same things today that you would have 15 years ago. I think there are guys with many more holes in their game than just dragging a guy down from behind. There are plenty of 3-4 teams in front of us, and if McClain passes CLE, BUF, DEN, and we don't take him, then I would say maybe the naysayers have a point. I can say very confidently that I do not think that will happen.

perspective,
Miles would prob cost a first and a third. No way the phins pull that one.
Indiana, you and I seem to be on the same page here. If the Cards will take a 3rd for Boldin then I say go for it. I won't give anything more than that though.

Pat Turner has more trade value than Joey Porter at this point.
Posted by: Waterboy | February 18, 2010 at 02:01 PM
WestVaFins - As I do agree with you on the part of IF you were the Dolphins, but that will matter a lot on what we actually do in the FA market. If we fill some big holes in with some key free agents, maybe it may be smart to take a top WR in the 2nd (notice I didn't say the 1st)
I do really like Marty Gilyard though if we can get him in the 3rd, no higher unless other holes are filled via free agency

As far as Boldin, why not try a trade like our 4th this year, and a conditional 4th that can be as much as a 2nd next year, depending on what he does next year. That way, if he bombs, we gave up only 2 #4s. If he is awesome for us, then we aren't being swindled in the trade. That type of deal, low risk for us, and potential great reward for them, would be ideal for both sides.

perspective, regarding RFAs, the restrictions are outrageous. Check out www.askthe comish.com/freeagency.

I do not like Gilyard...... If anyone i like Lafell......
Posted by: WestVaFins | February 18, 2010 at 02:04 PM
Datajack, agreedon Boldin even though I think a forth would get him if push comes to shove
Posted by: bobbyd12 | February 18, 2010 at 02:04 PM
Datajack - Another thought on Boldin, which has been reported via rumors before we decided to cut Porter then we couldn't cut him, was to trade Cards Porter for Boldin and a draft pick (probably 4th or 5th maybe?) As Porter does have trade value we are probably getting nothing for him. If Arizona does want Porter and doesn't want to get into a bidding war with any team, why not try to trade Porter for Boldin and through in mid round pick. It's a win-win for both teams: we don't have to give up a 3rd for Boldin and get "some" type of value for Porter. Unlikely to happen, but anything is possible in the NFL!
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 02:05 PM
If we do aquire Boldin, maybe he can talk Dansby coming to Miami at a decent price since they are teammates...?? :)
Posted by: Indiana Dolfan | February 18, 2010 at 02:08 PM
Bootang, Boldin is doable, Arizona don't need him and from everything I read Arizona would probaly part with him for a draft pick, no need to offer two picks, question is what round??
Posted by: bobbyd12 | February 18, 2010 at 02:08 PM
By the way, this Restricted Free Agent list isn't even worth looking at with what you would have to part with...no player here is worth what Miami would have to give up
Posted by: bobbyd12 | February 18, 2010 at 02:11 PM
Datajack,
thanks for answering an earlier question regarding compensation for a player on this list. I wasn't sure what it would take to acquire any of these players.
If it were just a second or third I'd have thought Austin being a Parcells find, he may have done it.
Bobbyd12,
Please forgive me for not being being as informed as you. I did ask the question earlier in the blog regarding this though. I am ever so humbled. I'll try not to learn anything in the future, considering the bashing I'll likely be in for.

Chad Henne tweeted "Miami Dolphins close for Boldin trade" about an hour ago...thoughts on that Armando??
Posted by: IndianaDolfan | February 18, 2010 at 02:14 PM
I do like Brandon Lafell. D Thomas too. But I think 2nd round is too early for thinking WR. Then again, depends on how much work is done in free agency.
I vote Bobby for angriest poster today. he's on a rampage. Glad he isn't pulling me over today. The rubber glove might be coming out.
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | February 18, 2010 at 02:15 PM
Chad Henne has gone on record to say he has no twitter account
Posted by: Waterboy | February 18, 2010 at 02:21 PM
Bobbyd, the reason I say that is only for fear of us offering a 3rd and then him playing 9 games. Or not producing. Adding a conditional pick just means the only way we overpay is if he absolutely produces. And if he is a failure, 2 #4s doesn't really set us back that much. Trying to protect the investment I guess is the idea behind my line of thinking.
Posted by: Bootang25 | February 18, 2010 at 02:22 PM
If we trade for Boldin i hope it's a fourth round and not a third,he had to many concusions.
Posted by: nickfury99 | February 18, 2010 at 02:23 PM
The only Dolphin player who has a real Twitter account is Sean Smith.
Posted by: Bootang25 | February 18, 2010 at 02:24 PM
Eric Decker is 6'4 - just because dude is white doesn't make him Camarillo (who is Hispanic anyway)
Posted by: Just Because | February 18, 2010 at 02:24 PM
Sean Smith is soft. One notch up from Deon

cocoajoe,
Thanks for that info. It is appreciated.

Indiana,
As far as Porter, I have no idea what, if any, trade value he has. It's a sure thing the Phins will cut him. So the question becomes, how many teams are interested in him? No one knows. The other question is, do the Cards want/need Porter? Who knows? More likely would just be a straight up trade for a 3rd rd pick, which I wouldn't mind at all.

Bootang25 - Ronnie and Chad both have one...
