The NFL's list of restricted free agents

Well, you saw the long and unimpressive list of unrestricted free agents that could hit the market once free agency begins March 5. That list is unimpressive because it lacks the younger, in-their-prime group of players that typically become free agents every spring -- the guys with four or five years of experience with expiring contracts.

If there is no new collective bargaining agreement by March 5 and the NFL goes to an uncapped year, players must have at least six credited NFL seasons to be considered unrestricted free agents. Fewer than six credited seasons and a player is restricted.

What follows are the more than 200 players with four or five credited season who will be restricted, rather than unrestricted, if 2010 is uncapped.

(Note: Any player with three accrued seasons whose contract is due to expire will also be a restricted free agent in 2010.)

Hey perspective, nobody knows it all. Although some would have you think so. And datajack is right, a 1st and a 3rd.

That website I told you about (www.askthe commish.com/freeagency) breaks it all down. But basically it ends up being a 1st and 3rd.

Sean Smith is a ballhawk but needs to stay of twitter and hit the weight room so he can bulk up.

Thanks for the headsup Indiana. I haven't looked in a little while, I don't have Twitter so ismts not something I pay a lot of attention to. Though both Ronnie and Chad are 2 of my fav players, maybe I should.

Datajack - The only reason I say Joey Porter has trade value is because he is an NFL player. Every player has trade value. Just because a team does not get any value out of a particular player does not mean he has no trade value. I hope this thought is something you can understand, because NJ cannot comprehend that thought.

Bootang25 - I don't really do anything with my account as I don't think that highly of Twitter yet, but I do it more for informational purposes. I use it to follow user groups/organizations for my job/career.

Armando has also told me has thought at times Ronnie's is a fake one, but has not found anything to prove it is fake. I have followed Ronnie for about 5 months and been following Chad for a few weeks and I just don't see them being fake to be honest...

Twitter serves a purpose. I checked out both Chad and Ronnie just now, they seem legit. I may set one up here in the next few days.

I am a Georgia Tech alum, and probably saw 8 or 9 games this year - both live and on TV.

Demaryius Thomas is/was an excellent college player. Never when I was watching him, though, did I say to myself "boy, I'd like to see him in aqua and orange next year" (like I did with Calvin Johnson) - or "he'll be playing on Sundays".

Might all be moot now with his broken foot, which sucks out loud, but I just don't see him as a 1st rounder.

Have to remember, GT ran the ball for like 800 yards a game, and threw the ball maybe 8 times a game. OK the first number I totally made up - the second number is pretty close. When they did throw, it was usually DEEP. He has a 25/rec average because he caught more than his share of bombs - not because he was a spectacular receiver.

Just a few thoughts from someone who actually saw Demaryius play.

Sorry for the double post.

Sean Smith is Soft
Vontae is tough
Culver cant cover
Clemons is unknown
Gebril well, is to be cut
Bell is MVP of Defense
Will Allen slips too much

Trade up for Eric Berry

And please draft a new cleat guy. We fall down too much

so if all thomas catches is bombs and everyone here knows miami needs a wr to strectch the field and that henne has the arm to air it out wouldn't thomas fit right in?

Ted Ginn can catch bombs all day

Sorry typo, Ted Ginn bombs all day

for the debate on Spoon and McClain go to universal draft and watch the video and write up. It is really good info.
The restricted agents value is determined by what qualifying offer is placed on them to stay with the team. Impossible to say what will be required until that process occurs.
there are a few guys on there that could be worth a 2 3 or 4th round pick. I would never give up our first. I actually hope we trade down and pick up and extra 2nd or 3rd. We need 5 new starters. 2 LB's 1 safety, 1 NT, and 1 # receiver.

Bootang25 - dont forget to add Armando so he can get his 3K followers haha!!

So GT ran the ball 800 yards a game but D. Thomas still ended up with 1000 yards receiving at the end of the year. What does that say about him?

Just Because, I said Decker was a large target... I know Camarillo is hispanic... Have you seen Decker play. Tell me he doesn't play like Camarillo? Runs good routes, decent speed and good hands. Don't make stupid comments.

I don't think any restricted free agents are worth the valuable draft picks. A first and a third is giving away the whole draft.

Indiana,

I understand the concept perfectly. My point is, I have no idea how each individual NFL team values Porter. More precisely, I have no idea what Arizona's interest might be for Porter. If they have interest, then of course they should throw him into the mix for the Boldin trade.

Waterboy, LOL

cocoajoe,

That site you gave me is one hell of an interesting read. Changes things and how to look at them.

if i want followers i'll get them the old fashioned way.............. by starting a cult.

Good point Indiana. Mando does a good job responding to our posts and questions, so I have to remember to do that.

Boldin would be perfect for our offense. Also, all these LB's sound great and everything, but they mean nothing unless we have a good NT.. I wouldnt be surprised at all if we took a NT instead of a LB at #12, or even traded down to get a NT and an extra pick.. Thoughts?

If you didn't watch GT play, here is the deal: They ran the ball...all the time. What they run is called a triple option. Literally they only threw very, very occassionally.

They averaged over 300 yd/gm rushing and less than 150 passing. Thomas had 1,154 rec yards and the next closest player didn't have even 250 yards. If they threw, it was almost always to Demaryius.

If you are running the ball for 300 yards a game, how many times do you think the safety was helping deep? - how many times do you think Demaryius ran right past a CB that assumed it was going to be yet another running play?

I'm not saying he sucks - on the contrary, I like him. It would be fun to root for him in the NFL after watching him in college.

Thought he was a good college player. Not great hands. Excellent blocking skills. Fast. He might be a very good NFL WR, I just don't see him as a first rounder.

But, as a Yellowjacket I wish him all the luck in the world. We'll see. The broken foot is terrible luck either way.

If a good blocking, fast, 6-3 230 WR with good hands, and 1250 receiving yards in college runs a 4.4 forty, he will be a first rounder. I don't think he will be now because he broke his foot. But he was well on his way to becoming a first rounder. Their was an article on cbssportsline talking about him a couple days ago that said once he runs, he will be a first rounder... You are right.. He won't be a first rounder but I think only because he broke his foot.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/story/12933021/combine-preview-what-to-watch-for-at-indy-show

Marcus,
All I can say is I'm shocked to hear that kind of talk about him. Great for him! But I watched him play and his hands are not even what you could call "good". I never even considered him an NFL caliber receiver. Shows you how much I know.

Now the RB - Jonathan Dwyer - that dude is playing on Sunday.

Datajack - I am sure other teams vlaue Porter, but when they thought we would cut, then actually cut him...no one is going ot offer anything so in this particular situation he would not have trade value, BUT with the situation of 2 teams wanting him and one of the teams did not want to get outbid, they could offer Miami ANYTHING at all and we would take it, thus in return giving Porter trade value. I am not nor have said that is going to happen, but just for the record it is possible and with it being possible means Porter does have trade value!!

How you like them apples NJ for ripping me other day when others agree with my point, but you continued to argue and rip me one!!

If they are good enough to play in the NFL of course they have trade value jackazzzzz...

With the current situation Porter put Miami in he is very unlikely to have trade value because all teams know he will get cut and be free, but as I explained earlier in post there is one situation where he would have some value.

Let me ask who this one NJ and hear me out first.

You are the owner of the Bungals and want Joey Porter on your team without question. You also know jerry Jones and the Cowboys want him and will outbid any team or owner in the league. The only way for you and the Bungals to get the rights to Porter is to trade with Miami, so in return you offer Miami a 7th rounder for Porter. Miami in return accepts, SO that would give Porter value right????

Now, I am not going to say that is possible or even going to happen. All I am doing is giving a situation that gives him value. Now you cannot disagree with this...

I was not saying it as an insult. Ever seen Happy Gilmore "You will not make that put you jackazzzz" - it's more of a funny comical name, not an insult!

Of course they did not have any takers and why I have said they are not going to get anything for him in this situation.

Can you not answer my question above about the situation I proposed or are you that hear tbroke of the word jackazzzz?

I am not saying we will get trade value for him, but he does have some value since he is an NFL player.

The only way this current situation with Porter would give us any trade value is with the situation I listed above and you cannot disagree with that.

Indiana had NJ LHFAO all day

Joey Porter???

I can't wait for Porter to no longer be a Dolphin. I am so sick of hearing and reading his name. I think I am looking forward to March 5th more than draft day just so we can be done with this crap. lol

Are we talking about the same Joey Porter?

OK everyone needs to stop saying this regime wont spend picks on restricted free agents cause thats not true!! Its is a fact they don't like using them that way, but if I recall corrrectly they spent picks to bring Akin and Fasano from dallas!! They also used a pick to bring T.Thigpen from KC so its not entirely correct to say they won't make a trade for a restricted free agent!!

Never heard of him

Two hours away and come back to you guys fighting about Joey Porter?? Put it to bed, his dumb a"s is gone in 16 days and he will no longer contribute anything to our team...FU"K JOEY PORTER

I second that in a friendly manner bobbyd12.

Dizzle. The difference between trading a 5th round pick for a player and giving up a 1st and 3rd for one of the players on this lst is huge. Is there any player on the above list you feel is worth a 1st and 3rd?

J dizzle, problem is without a CBA the rules are much different, I didn't read CocoaJoes link but it probaly is informative, there is a STEEP price to sign a RFA now, and no one is worth it

Who care what some donkey farmer from midwest think anyway. he lack a discipline

I dont care who's on the list,i'd hate Parcells to give up a 1st and 3rd for anyone.

LMFAO @ NJ....you still cannot answer my situational question I posted above. The reason why is because you know I am right about that situation and do not want to be proved wrong.

You can't take a little joking back and forth for sh!ts and giggles can you?? Wow, I didn't know you were so sensitive!! Only reason I said "how do you like them apples" is because I knew it would get you to say something. Are we not allowed to get NJ riled up ever?? D@MN!!

Also, I never said he will have trade value, but he "could" have it. Will it happen VERY VERY unlikely, but it is still possible. Anything is possible in the NFL...

LOL NJ
How pissed off must Seymour be? You get traded from one of the major power houses and best organizations in the league to without question the worst organization in the league and now you are stuck there for at least another year. LMAO, sucks to be Seymour (if you can call getting freakin' bank sucking)

cobra - How is it possible to have a donkey farm living in a city with no donkey farms around or even in the state I reside in?

I always right and not like the guy with screen name I always right 300% of time with no exception for fool like Indiana Dolphins and his trade Joey Porter talk

Indiana anything is possible for the best donkey farmer in whole world. What is Coca Cola recipe? What is secret KFC spice? Why is the sky blue?

Such a shame that Wilfork will be Franchised. He's the one guy i'd be begging Parcells to sign if he was available

P.S. Donkey are very strong animal that can take any condition even some hole in midwest that farmers call city

OK, MR. Pig Farmer a.k.a cobra kai: I never said we would be able to trade him, but as Joey is a NFL player, every NFL player has value or they wouldn't in the league

Look it doesn't have to be us giving up a pick!! Our 1st round pick is worth alot , so if a team has a player we need and they want to move up ,depending on what their pick is our 1st round may be worth theirs and a player!!! I know none of these teams are just gonna give away talent , but I think we shouldn't automatically say they aren't gonna trade!!!and the pick for Fasano and Akin was a third or fourth round, which Ireland got back before the draft!!

I have said it would VERY VERY unlikely happen, I have never said it would happen, but it is still possible. Anything is possible buddy...

Cobra - do you have a thing for farmers somehow? Any insult you have is referring to some type of farmer when you do not know any of us personally so in return make no sense and make yourself sound like a complete idiot...

LMAO @ not like the guy with the screen name.

Indiana Dolphins you so slow you say yourself many times Dolphins can trade Porter and in last post just said every NFL player has value or they wouldn't in the league

this is true donkey speak you azzzzzz

Agreed dizzle. We could end up making a trade or two on draft day or before. I just don't see us signing any players on the above list.

I am from Indiana and I am very offended at your hatred of farmers and the good people of the midwest. I farm beets and potatoes and if this gent wants to herd donkeys so be it. I heard he is quite good.

I'm slow?? You cannot even speak the English language moreless type correctly in every single post. I know some of us make typing mistakes, but your posts are just terrible. Do you need Hooked On Phonics?
