The NFL's list of restricted free agents

Well, you saw the long and unimpressive list of unrestricted free agents that could hit the market once free agency begins March 5. That list is unimpressive because it lacks the younger, in-their-prime group of players that typically become free agents every spring -- the guys with four or five years of experience with expiring contracts.

If there is no new collective bargaining agreement by March 5 and the NFL goes to an uncapped year, players must have at least six credited NFL seasons to be considered unrestricted free agents. Fewer than six credited seasons and a player is restricted.

What follows are the more than 200 players with four or five credited season who will be restricted, rather than unrestricted, if 2010 is uncapped.

(Note: Any player with three accrued seasons whose contract is due to expire will also be a restricted free agent in 2010.)

Howdy Cap'n!!! Top o the eve to ya!

All I'm saying is you don't pay a fool like Bryant a big contract because he'll blow up on you somehow.

He'll get injured, or he'll throw another towel at Tuna's head, or he'll get with his posse from Northwestern High and be out late Wed-Friday.

It is begging for a crap sandwhich.

bobbyd12,

You have a good point buddy. I guess i'm just alittle frustrated that we'll all still waiting for an elite WR on this team. I watched all Miami games online last season and defensively,we were awful so i guess i would'nt have a problem if Miami picked a Linebacker and a NT with the 1st 2 picks. Actually,i'd rather Parcells pick 2 Linebackers in the 1st 2 rounds then NT in the 3rd

AZ Phinatic @ 5:42,

I would be all for snagging Bolden from AZ. I am hoping they can drive the price down to a 4rth. Not sure how I feel about a 3rd and probably wouldn't do it then. Maybe 4rth and one of our many LB's we have that is more project than player?

I am hoping AZ blinks as they have a lot of really good wideouts and with Warner retiring I think they will try to balance the run more heavily with Beanie and Hightower and have QB Linehart try to manage games more than Warner did.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers,

Rob in OC, again find ONE NFL scout or article by anyone that says McClain isn't the number ONE ILB in this draft...I spent an hour this morning googling and reading articles and McClain is the consensus pick as THE BEST out there..ur straight up wrong because actual NFL people and people who actually make a living following fooball say ur WRONG..be as hard headed as u want, U R DEAD WRONG and that's my LAST post on McClain

F Antonio Bryant.. He's always hurt, and he only had one big year. PLus didnt parcells cut his ars in Dallas because he's an underachieving primaddona? If THATS who we go after for our #1wr position, prepare for another season wishing we had one

FLPD, that one line u typed is why Antonio Bryant will never be here...."he threw a towel at Parcells head" he will never wear a Phins uniform because of that

I have a question bobbyd12,

Who do you think is better? McClain or Weatherspoon? LOL. Just messin with ya fella. :)

I can't say I've followed him his whole career, but Mardy Gilyard does look to have skills. If the fins could pick him up up in the 3rd round or later he would go a long way in shoring up the corps.
I do not see him soley as someone thriving on a system. How could he be Big East Player of the Year on Special Teams 2 years in a row? He put up big numbers in the senior bowl to go along with all of his gaudy stats he put up at Cincy.
Frankly, I think Tony Pike is the overrated player coming out of Cincy.

Howdy to you Rob. I'd like to give everyone my top 5 players to be cut. Here they go,

1. JP (easy choice)
2. JT (easy choice)
3. Crowder (completely over-rated)
4. Ferguson (Father time has caught him)
5. Pennington (he is still on the team and takes hours to throw the football and I wouldn't even mention throwing it deep)lets just hope he doesn't re-sign with the team.

Ok, your turn, discuss amoungst yourselves.

Lol, thks Mark

who's that guy on the Jets that was so highly rated outside of Lewis and Urlacher who has really produced being picked that high

I AM ALWAYS, @5:56

I appreciate the views and your candid comments as well. I appreciate you taking the time and witness some real footage your self.

I realize that with enough really funky clips strung together with an express purpose of trying to wound a player would be unfair. I am simply saying at the end of the day since none of us really do it for a living... placing some trust in your own eyes is a fairly decent way to go (Unless we are talking magic tricks...lol)

When you go there and see the vids and say even the smallest comment like "You were underwhelmed" it lends a tiny slice of credit to anyone that may not be asking McClain to try on Hall of Fame jackets already.

Bobbyd, NJ PHIN, yourself or whomever wants to choose McClain I say right on! You have every right as much say so as I do...good job. It gets pretty old hear all the rhetoric about how ANYONE is a can't miss... no one ever is.

Thanks for your opinions bud.

Cheers,

Ghoulston? You mean has'nt really produced?

I hear there's 5 Ginns presently employed by the mighty air breathers, they are #1 Ted(Hands of stone)Ginn jr.,#2Ted(Clipboard)Ginn SR.,#3 Cousin Rufus(The human blocking dummy)Ginn,#4 Tednisha(All the way)Ginn(She's the teams..ahem, well she's the team HO)and #5 Jeannie (Grant a wish)Ginn(She's the hotter sister)(though she to often falls down when balls or coming towards her face too like her brother, but different balls.. if you know what i mean...) so there you go, certainly we can get a 5th or 6th round pick for 5 people.....Tuna make it happen.....

Interesting news out of Buffalo, Brad Butler their starting right tackle retired. This adds to the offensive misery of their starting offensive line...that team won't be drafting defense with their first pick

I would'nt be so sure b12,the Bills are a mess on both sides of the ball.....and yet they still beat the Fins :(

bobbyd @6:03,

Sorry bud, you are wrong, flat wrong. The consensus #1 McClain info is damn sure not coming from a real scout or gm currently employed anyways... EVERY team has to keep that info under heavy guard and lock and key...ESPECIALLY at this time of year!

Are you gonna own a team and spend millions of hours, dollars and put forth all the effort to uncover stuff and research players so you can gain an advantage over other teams and then GIVE it away to ANY media source? Risk losing your job as a scout to supply info??

I think most on this board know that what we read in print and on the net is a hodge podge of draftniks, ex jocks, former scout types and pundits that are putting forth there best guesses...just like you and I are.

Do you get it now? Your "concensus" is NOT coming from the Trifecta which would be who would have the REAL board rankings.

Cheers,

Ok friends, I don't stay in this blog that long. I have to get the boat ready for tomorrow. So here it is, since I do live closer to the Dolphins than the rest of you, here is the local inside rumor... Sergio Kindle, olb out of Texas, will be the Dolphins 1st round choice. Swim with that idea and get back with me. You now have the inside track. Your welcome.

yes sorry typo I just feel leary investing a pick unless it's too good to be true and usually there gone in the first five picks would rather have a reciever or great running back never have too many of them

Rob in OC
01/12/10 - What can linebacker Rolando McClain expect in the months leading up to the NFL draft? Lots of phone calls. The Alabama All-American's stock went up even more - if that's possible - after he declared Monday he was bypassing his senior year to play in the NFL. "He fits all 32 defenses," said an NFL scout on the condition of anonymity. "The guy will be able to play in anybody's system." The scout gave three different reasons why the 6-foot-4, 258-pounder is a lock to be picked in the first round in April's draft. He's physical. "He's the old NFL size for a linebacker. Today's linebackers are 6-1 or 6-2 and about 230 pounds, so he's going to be a bigger version of that. He's got (Chicago Bear) Brian Urlacher size, which is a rarity, and he can run. He's smart. "He ran a system (at Alabama) that's tough to run. The fact that he can be a middle linebacker and run the show is impressive. Every defensive coordinator is going to want a player like that." He's versatile. "You can line him up inside or outside, or weakside. He can even be a rusher." The scout said McClain doesn't have any real negatives, though "his speed is OK, not great." If there's a potential weakness, it's in pass coverage. "Can he play man-to-man against an NFL tight end like Antonio Gates?" the scout asked, before offering a probable solution. "He had so many (pre-snap) responsibilities (at Alabama)," the scout said. "He'll have so much more time to study game plans. He won't have to worry about the 20-hour rule anymore. It'll be all football." - Bill Bryant, Times Sports/Everything Alabama

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYSxJgjjJFc Any one that wants to see the TRUE Ted (No jock strap required)Ginn check this video out... Music provided by Snoop Dogg....

Cap'n Ace,

1. JP (easy choice) Already a goner.
2. JT (easy choice) I say he ends up resigning with the Fins for 1 more season. If they pick up vet Dansby or like a Bullock they would probably part ways.
3. Crowder (completely over-rated) Overated but not going anywhere, they just resigned him before last season. That would make themselves look bad imho.
4. Ferguson (Father time has caught him) F.T. very well may have. Maybe a guy they have rehab hard and have a back burner agreement to come in late year if needed?
5. Pennington (he is still on the team and takes hours to throw the football and I wouldn't even mention throwing it deep)lets just hope he doesn't re-sign with the team. Penny's a heart filled gamer, so many injuries and yet so many decent comebacks 2x Comeback Player of the Year. That means he's good at it and sounds like he wants to play still. MUST be healthy, will have to back-up and may just be trade bait for a late round choice somewhere he may have a better chance to play... AZ?

Those are my thoughts.

Cheers,

All i know is that the Draft cant come soon enough. Only 63 days,49 mins and 40 secs....

I got 20 plus more of those Rob in OC with NFL scouts talking about McClain...any questions???

boobyd @6:19,

Good info on afc rival. They get further steered toward off. Tough break for a downtrodden team...another advantage of having a mostly young team like the Fins are building.

Good post bobbyd.

Cheers,

Mark, I can't wait, I'm on vacation that week so I am going to the Dolphin Draft Party, excited

Quality bobbyd12. Love to be there but where i am (England),i'll be surprised if they even show the bloody thing on TV.

Well said Rob, but I politely disagree with you on Ferguson and Pennington. Ok friend, here's why... in this upcoming draft the dolphins, without question, will draft a dt. My sources tell me, it won't be in the first round. He will either be cut or traded. As far as Pennington, there is no doubt, he has an incredible heart and is very intelligent. Because of surgeries on his shoulder, it's time to be a backup (he doesn't want that) and let's be realistic here, he would be a great coach (quarterback).

These are my thoughts... thank you Rob

Just Gotta know what kind of drugs Cam(1 win)Camron was on when he drafted the entire Ginn Clan.....

cuban,

Thats a funny video.... painful to re-live some of those non catches. The Indy one was a real DAGGER!

Ginn is a support player at best. He has had lots of ample live learning time. I say the ONLY thing I would do if I'm the OC to try to get better results is run him on more go routes, post corners and any deep passing play where he thinks he has cleared everyone. That's magically when his concentration would be a little better.

I like him as a person and used to think he was crzy weapon... now I think more decoy, deep single cover routes and bide time till we land another speedster for replacement.

WR Jocoby Ford from Clemson has some really good wheels and would certainly have more yac than Ginn imho.

Cheers,

Actually, regarding Bryant, I've read that he and Parcells are past that and have been talking fairly regularly.

Cam Camron,FIRED

Rob, Teds got 1.1 yd after catch avg. his entire career, And has dropped more passes then any other player (WR) since he's been in the league, cant the phins trade his entire family to say Detroit??? at least that way daddy Ginn will be nearer his Bicycle repair shop in Columbus Ohio... lol....

bobbyd,

I give you about 15 minutes (that's a lot of plays worth) of ACTUAL live footage of the man you say is the best ILB in ALL of college football and you fire back with:

WORDS! From JAN 10th by a BAMA NEWS REPORTER from a place called Times/Sports Everything Alabama! His Name is Bill "Bear" Bryant NAMING and UN-NAMED "real NFL scout" source pumping up a Bama player???

That's your REAL shot at unbiased credibility? LOL. Why I think that report is just "Special". A classic take from an obviously non biased source.

At least I allow my source to be YOUR OWN TWO EYES! =)

Cheers bud, Good one

certainly have more yac than Ginn imho.

Cheers,

Posted by: Rob in OC | February 18, 2010 at 06:53 PM
I have more YAC then the non testicle one.....

Cap'n Ace,

The Fergie call is tough. While it's ez to say we will draft a guy (And Have supreme confidence they will as well) the NT position in the NFL is not an ez thing to master or be good at from jump street. I say the injury rehab, his age and the fact they want to get younger work against him. That is why I said they have him rehab and take even longer by starting the season without him and then call him up in emergency sitch like NT's go down or are horrendous.

As for Penny I think he very easily get cut or traded. The ideal situation would be to have him stay on as a quasi qb coach. I am not sure they would make a spot or not for him to remain here coaching?

Cheers,

rob,
do you have an english diploma ?

So now Rob In OC is saying that this sports writer from Alabama is a writer who makes things up... The other 23 articles must be made up too, all fictional...this is not a backwoods kangaroo country Rob In OC..This is how things work in MY COUNTRY...The scout is willing to talk if the writer doesn't reveal his identity. This sports writer has no reason to lie, just like the other 23 sportswriters whose articles have no reason to lie because there would be no benefit to them..Maybe in Australia ur writers make up fictional stories daily, but that isn't accepted in this country and when it occasionally happens, that reporter gets canned...

yeah cuban,

It would appear that the close bond that Ginn plus his family and Cam Camaroon shared did not work out as well as say the Dennis Green knwing Larry Fitz before he drafted him.

Sometimes, if you are too close to the flame you get burned. Speaking of which, how is the hand feeling Cam?? "You want some more butter for that?" Hehe.

Cheers,

OK Guys Have a Phintastic nite....

hey Arche,

Wassup man, how are you doin today?

Nah, I don't unfortunately... I have a buddy that's an English teacher for a H.S. ... Does that count? =)

Cheers,

LOL@ Rob, Have a good nite my friend....

Rob, Here's why I say what I say. There is growing speculation in the Miami area and the winds are swirling here in the keys, that Wilfork, from the patsies, is heading for Miami. This is why I feel the way I do. I had a player on the boat who loves deep sea fishing, and I won't name him to honor his request for anonimity, but he says it will happen during or before this years draft.

Captain Ace (Parrot Head)

bobbyd, (Let's not get ruffled bro)

First off...where do you think the OC from the phrase "Rob from OC" comes from? Ask around a little more before you start calling out MY COUNTRY... the USofA!! (guns fire, confetti falls, streamers fly by, crowds cheers, lol)

If you can't make the pretty simple connection of a Bama based reporter may/can/will/do report more favorably for a Bama based player than say a USC guy?

Now your not even going to acknowledge POTENTIALLY simple, straight forward, local pride based biases?

Heck I would be the first to say I want ALL Olympian Gold medalists to be American... That's normal, country based, pride and BIAS! YES I am biased!

Now if you apply that logic to the example of the article you trotted out as proof McClain is #1 can you kinda see where it might not be the best reference...from a bias standpoint alone?

Heck, you could have erased and changed the name and location of the source and I would have never known. It makes me believe you are an honest person.

* Too long... battle post length demons Rob!

Cheers,

This is in the spirit of good fun Captain so please don’t take offense but your story sounds kinda fishy to me :)

I find it hard to believe the GM and decision makers of the Dolphins go around telling the players what they intend to do regarding personnel, especially considering this regime likes to keep things close to the vest. Even if this player did get wind of something how could they possibly know what the Pats intend with Wilfork? Does the player know that even if Wilfork is franchised we are going to give up the farm for him?

u 2 cuban! Have a good one bro.

Cap'n Ace,

Yar matey, store that one below deck. Pull it out if it actually goes down and ye be havin a fine sea tale to be tellin at a later date me matey.

I can't FATHOM it but, until they actually resign him in NE, anything is possible.

Yo ho yo ho,

Cheers,

Cap'n Ace,

Let's just storm Fin Island and snatch the treasure maps to all those hidden draft gems and FA pearls!!!

We can bury them and bring them out after the draft so's as we don't sink the mother ship S.S. Finstothetop!

Scarvy Darvy Ken n Barbie,

Cheers,

Keepin it real lite tonight... this rum is good stuff.

I am always..., thanks for the response and let me add to your fun. Believe me I know FISHY and I would bet more that you. But I have to say it is a great living!

True the GM and the regime keep it close to the vest, but remember this statement did not come from them and let me throw this at you, Wilfork loves to talk. It's like this, this player is a great, GREAT defensive tackle. So I say to you my friend, let's see where the wind blows this one.

Captain Ace (Parrot Head)

The real deal is Rob.You bring it my friend.

Captain Ass , good post .

Captain, I have no doubt you are da man when it comes to the sea and its inhabitants :)
I certainly hope your player was right. Wilfork would be a stellar pickup for this team. It's been fun guys. Have a good night.
