The wide receiver hungry Dolphins were on the Illinois campus over the weekend looking at a possible draft pick in the same place they found last year's first round pick in cornerback Vontae Davis.
The Dolphins had wide receiver coach Karl Dorrell on hand as to time, test, and talk to Arrelious Benn.
It was a good Pro Day for Benn by all accounts, as he ran a 4.42 and 4.40 on some watches but was timed as low as 4.38 on some stopwatches.
Benn also had a 37-inch vertical leap at 6-1 and 218 pounds).

Bobby12...If the JETS do acquire BM and we continue to be very very average on offence....will you admit your error???
Look at our team...full of guys with issues...plenty of them.We DONT KNOW who has slapped his wife or not...and who the FUKK cares...the guys is a machine and I firmly disagree with not looking at him seriously..
YES the DEFENSE is priority ONE, but after that its WR for me....Will Allen with Clemons and Culver can do a job at Safety....and we have cover at NT and can draft in later rounds...
Stop crowing and pissn and moaning about womans issues...this is NFL...join a womans association against male violence...
You are wrong and so is Parcells...this time

Thanks EL Cazador oops i mean aloco oops i mean cuban menace
Posted by: John Adams | March 22, 2010 at 12:29 AM
Oh...and I do like Aerrelios Benn....he and D.Thomas are the better WR's...Golden Tate is 5'10"....He is a slot receiver...we will NOT be our No1 WR...we have the same kind of player laready here...
What will TUNA do??
Linebackers who can rush....possibly TWO as he always drafts in pairs...
Then WR
Then ONE safety
Then ONE NT
Then a TE
After that its anyone guess

Not condoning DUI but...
How do you pass a Field-Sobriety Test with a semi-broken foot?
Since guys get into trouble for
DRIVING while Drunk,
(NOT being Drunk,) ...The Player's Union needs to facilitate a "CULTURAL CHANGE" that
'Frowns' upon ALL DRIVING AFTER...P A R T I E S.
It should become normal for all members to have a Limo on call whenever they leave their house.
The NFL should give all Active Players an Expense-CARD for '24 Hour Transportation' - 'No Questions Asked.' (We had a similar benefit at one of that Companies that I used to work for.)
Finally...
Everyone wishes that these guys were perfect...but the truth is that many of them are just as human as the rest of us. I, myself -- have never gotten a DUI ("knock wood") but I can understand that a 23 year old might want to "Stumble Around Town" with his girl and enjoy his life.
(Its interesting how we all react when this happens to
a guy that we like -- isn't it.)
Cheers!

Bobby - I agree with you on so many things but we disagree on Marshall. While I know he isn't coming here any more than Dez Bryant, he is one of the top 5 receivers in the NFL. If the Jets do get him, it will spell big trouble for our secondary. Braylon Edwards isn't half the receiver Marshall is and he did an effective job against us. His past does not matter and his off field issues do not matter - if he goes to NY it is going to make for a very unpleasant two games a year.
Marshall may be a cretin but he is an elite receiver and makes any team immediately better (long term with his issues, who knows?). Much more than I would love to see him here, I'd hate to see him in a Jets uni. Covering Edwards and Marshall would be a nightmare.
Then covering Moss and Welker the next week - another nightmare, just nowhere near as bad.
At least there's the Bills to look forward to, as long as we don't trade Pigpen to them. That would be a disaster too. But not on the scale of Marshall to NY.

Ronnie Brown= good guy, with bad judgement. Avoiding a DUI is about as easy as making Rex Ryan is a fatas& jokes. Most of the time when a person is at the club, or at a bar they are there to tanker up. Make arrangements to have a ride so you don't put yourself in the position to get your name in the police report. or be scrutinized by skwakers like me.

Sports players r humans , and none of us r perfect . I understand athletes r rolemodels and should conduct themselves in a respectable manner for the sake of our youth. But I mean , and I shouldn't compare sports to religion , but only jesus was perfect and no one else is or ever will be. Athletes will make mistakes just like us and our parents and our kids. Let's just hope that they all learn from their mistakes

Posted by: cuban menace | March 22, 2010 at 08:23 AM
how does a 218 lb WR get called 'smallish'?
and bootang brought up the Anquan Boldin comparison and I've told people i think that's who he compares the most to as well. His run after the catch ability is ridiculous. It's probably the best in this draft class.
Posted by: Esteban | March 22, 2010 at 08:33 AM
Cuban,
You don't know the whole story, maybe he was coming from communion... lol...
Posted by: carlito from golfito | March 22, 2010 at 08:34 AM
Esteban,
Yes Benn's run after the catch ability is good, its the actual catching that worries most. He catches the ball with his body and drops alot of passes.
Posted by: carlito from golfito | March 22, 2010 at 08:35 AM
Hmmmmmmmmmmm, a fast guy that cant catch... sound familiar.
Posted by: cuban menace | March 22, 2010 at 08:36 AM
carlito, drops were never an issue with him until this year when he was injured and the team had its worst season since he's been there. i wouldn't worry too much about it. plus even if he does drop more than the normal amount the big plays he accounts for will be higher than the normal amount as well.
and if anything you can just have Mark Duper work with him. worked wonders for the Hurricanes Leonard Hankerson.
Posted by: Esteban | March 22, 2010 at 08:40 AM
why get excited about anyone's time running the 40,, they do it by wearing track shoes and skimpy outfits and do it on a special track and in a straight line. Lets get their time running the same distance on grass wearing football cleats and in full padding and uniform and carrying a football. and no wide receiver or running back EVER runs in a straight line unless the entire opposition is asleep.
Posted by: casey | March 22, 2010 at 08:47 AM
When your QBs name is Juice - chances are that the passes being thrown to you are not very good
Posted by: Just Because | March 22, 2010 at 08:48 AM
Just Because...Juice Williams was pretty bad. Talk about making no progress from your freshman year to your senior year.
Posted by: Esteban | March 22, 2010 at 08:50 AM
this guy has no YAC
Posted by: brian | March 22, 2010 at 09:04 AM
Hartline is garbage. Pure possession wr that will never be a game changer. Wasted pick that can't run by....run through...or avoid a tackler.
Posted by: Straightballa | March 22, 2010 at 09:07 AM
Briscoe is much better than Damien Williams. Don't know why his name is even being mentioned. Kid is super slow....slower than De. Thomas an Benn. We have enough possession guys on this team to last a life time. We need a taller wr who can run. Ala....Dez or possibly De. Thomas.
After these guys it's a huge drop. Tate is a slot guy and the rest of the wr's in this years draft a reaches. If we don't get one of the two listed above we would be better off drafting Gresham...te from OKlahoma and not drafting a wr at all this year.
