Joey Porter arrest makes you feel what?

If you're upset because the Dolphins haven't cut any of the three players arrested on various charges, including DUI, this offseason, perhaps you can take solace in knowing the Dolphins cut Joey Porter ...

... before he got arrested for suspicion of DUI and resisting arrest in California on Saturday.

According to reports Porter was confronted by California Highway Patrol officers early Saturday in a fast-food parking lot.

Porter refused to provide his driver's license and began to roll up his window when asked to leave the car. Police say that when an officer reached to unlock the door Porter slapped the officer's hand.

Porter eventually got out and complied with orders, placing his hands behind his back. He and a passenger were arrested.

Alrightie then.

Now, quick study of human nature:

How many of you are saddened that this has happened? You feel regret that Porter made an unwise choice, that he endangered life by allegedly being drunk and behind the wheel of a vehicle. How many of you are disappointed this has happened?

And how many of you feel happy about this? You feel avenged that something bad has happened to a guy that said bad things about your team? You feel like a loudmouth got his comeuppance for being something of a jerk to your team?

Your responses should be interesting.

are you kidding armando, fin fans have a field day...they just want bad news to thrive on .

That's karma!

Drunk driving always saddens me, and I am thankful no one was hurt or worse. Joey Porter is an idiot and I will laugh anytime he gets himself in trouble.

Carlito u owe jersey another dollar

Why would we be upset that the Fins haven't cut McD, Allen or Ronnie? If they cut everyone who so much as farted we wouldn't have much of a team. I am so sick and tired of this sanctimonious approach to who reporters and fans think should be on this team. Especially Ronnie - one mistake (albeit a bad one) in all this time and people are ready to sh*tcan him on the spot. And leave us with what? Ricky? Ricky is a committee back now - a really good one - but he was showing wear within two games of Ronnie going down. So, Hilliard or Cobbs? Please.

Allen? He won't start but he is quality depth. McD? Okay, he doesn't have significant value but get him counseling. People can, contrary to popular opinion, change, if they are motivated enough.

Talk about throwing out the baby with the bathwater.

On JP - what can you say? He's never been very bright, has always had an ego bigger than the Goodyear blimp and has some deep-seated anger issues over his eroding skills. He's lucky he didn't take some more lead.

I think we are just happy that he is not on the Dolphins anymore..and no, Dolphin fans are not 'avenged' in some sort of sick way like you say Armondo. That would be make us Jets fans

I wonder if Joey Porter is humming in his own pea brain You don't know me but you dom't like me, say you careless how I feel. How many of you sit and judge me, ever drove drunk in the streets of Bakersfield!! (sorry Buck Owens, Porter isn't smart enough to humm that tune)

THE BEST POINT I HEARED THIS WEEK..............( THAT WOULD MAKE US JETS FANS ) . GREAT POINT TAYLOR .

Even tho he said bad things bout the team is no reason to get happy about someone gettin in trouble couldve happen to anyone but it happened to porter who knows maybe tha cop was racist most of them are.but when he was on our team he was a big part of that D especially on that 08 season anyway he'll get past it like the guy below said atlease nobody got hurt

To me, Getting the DUI was Dumb. Pulling over to in some way lend "aid" to he buddy was shear stupidity... by anyone's standards. Cops don't stop what they are doing because your Pal pulls up and makes a case for your release...it doesn't work that way. The most satisfying aspect for me is Joey's behavior with the Cop. Once again proving his inability to control both him mouth and his actions. To me... that should be a "Null & Void" to all sleazy had to say doing his "radio show mouth run" during the Superbowl.
I guess my final summation to Sleazy is...

Say'on'ara'.....Popcorn Muscles!!!

My feelings on the matter are simple. I'm not happy or sad that it happened because it has no effect on my life whatsoever.

He's no longer a Dolphin therefore he's no longer our problem.

**his mouth.... not him.

The coaches and media do have to be
careful on what they say, and the real truth
never really comes out. For example this
week urban meyer blasted Jeremy fowler
of the Orlando sentinel because fowler
had quoted wr deonte Thompson saying
tebow wasn't a real qb. Urban said fowler
was a "bad" guy and threatened to ban
fowler from access to the gators.
Myers apologized this week, but begrudingly

Late in the season porter blasted the
patriots on the NFL network calling them
cheaters among others things.
You never heard anything publicly from
the dolphin camp but we do know porter
was suspended for undisclosed reasons
the next game .
Porters relationship went south from then
on and spiraled out of control that even
Don Shula had to step in we he made
the comment that porters behavior was
"outrageous".

It sad because porter had a remarkable
season in 2008, but I guess the success
went to his head

What pisses me off about these guys is that they can afford to take a cab, hire a driver, etc., and yet they don't. There's zero excuse and I hope whatever judge gets this case has the chance to throw a harsh sentence at Porter.

HE HIT THE COP's HAND AND DIDN't GET SHOT 50 TIMES.

I'm HAPPY THE COP DIDNt OVER REACT AND KILL HIM THAT's ASSUALT.

BUT I'm NOT HAPPY THAT THE PASSANGER WAS LOCKED UP. WHAT DID THEY DO?

Hello, Gang. Nathaniel Dodsworth here. I'd just like to announce that March 30th will be my 5th wedding anniversary, and the day after I'll be going up to Toronto, Canada for a well-deserved vacation. I'd like to thank Cuban Menace for introducing me to my wife, and Soiled Bottom for introducing me to my mistress.

Regarding Joey Porter, I say this: an underrated dessert is taking maybe half a package of Dole pre-washed salad, and drenching it in Thousand Island dressing and sprinkling lots of bacon bits on top. It can't be beat.

BY THE WAY WANT TO SAY HI TO MINI ME.

I know a lot of people dont like Peezy but the officer over steped his bounds by reaching in the car without a warrent and deserved to have his hand slaped I know a lot of people trust the police until they are on opisite sides believe me most police are overbearing cocky SOBs too busy trying to look cool rather than doing theyre job of protect & serve.

NATHANIEL

MY LADY WANTS TO KNOW IF THAT's TRUE?

I TOLD HER I DOUBT IT BUT WHO KNOWS.

JJ, Porter was lucky he didn't take lead. Ronnie Brown, and the people who were driving in the correct lane of traffic are all lucky to be alive. I'm not saying cut Brown, but he has to be suspended. Like it or not when a person is paid millions of dollars to do anything, they need to be held to a higher standard. If it was your money, and you were paying him wouldn't you? We all make mistakes, I understand this, but a DUI can always be avoided.

agreed dennis. As much as I would love to disobey or be a punk to an officer, the only person who loses is me. Take some humility and deal with the situation by shutting up and doing what the cop say no matter what is truth. Our recourse against cops comes after the fact. These are the rules, good or bad. play by them or deal with the system we have. the problem with some of these atheletes is people have let them get away with all kinds of sh t from an early age. Dennis if you think cops can be horrible to avg citzens, imagine how far some of them take it with ego minded celebs/sports figures.

Is anyone surprised? Peazy is a nut job who won't last 2 seasons in AZ!!!

I DISAGREE W/YOU DARRYL , BROWN STILL A FIN PLAYER WHO WE LOVE ,WE WISH WELL .AS FOR PORTER ,HE CAN TO JAIL .

HE CAN GO TO JAIL

Joey "s.hitalke.r" Porter has made his own bed. Now he must lay in it. I'm glad we took out our trash!

ALOCO

HOW CAN YOU WISH BAD ON SOMEONE.

It doesn't take long in the comments before some indignant a-hole blames the police. Last night I was in a restaurant and a "Gang Unit" police officer walked by our table. The next table over had young latinos in it. The youngest boy was flashing gang signs and laughing. That's the problem with the world today...no respect. These kids don't repsect their parents or any authority figure. Funny, but the only people getting respect are the ones killing each other in inner cities. In this case...the cop was RIGHT....do what you're told...you're not being picked on....I will never be tased by the police....I will do what I'm told and cooperate when I'm pulled over. Funny....everyone looking for respect nowadays doesn't know how to EARN it!!!!

I DON'T JUSTIN, I WISH PORTER WELL , WE JUST HAVING FUN ON HIS EXP UNTIL SOME SOME ONE ELSE SUPPLY US W/A STORY .

What does it make me feel?

It makes me feel like I'm glad he didn't get the DUI while he was a doplphin.

I WONDER WHERE'S THE CUBAN ?

I HAVE A BIZ IDEA.OPEN AN SCHOLL TO TEACH NFL PLAYERS HOW TO DEAL W/COPS AND DUI ONLY .....................IT GOT TO BE BY AN EX NFL PLAYER WHO CURRENT PLAYERS CAN TRUST LIKE JT .

Jimmy Jam:

You said Allen is "won't start but he is quality depth." What?!? Did I miss something? I thought he, Davis and Smith would be competing for the two starting spots. What makes you so sure that Allen will not start?

ALoco, My point is that Porter is an idiot, always has been always will be. He's gone and not our problem anymore. Arizona gets to deal with him. Brown is our guy, and he has been great. But the fact is he, and the people driving on the road that night are all very lucky to be alive. And if I were the person shelling out the loot to pay him, there would need to be some accountability for acting a fool.

Allen and Ronnie got caught behind the wheel after drinking and apparently so did Joey...seriously stupid moves all around.

But the first two dealt with the situation as best they could while Joey's response was to try and roll up his windows and lock himself in his car, physically trying to stop the cop from stopping that.

Then just to improve his situation, he bursts out of the car in a threatening manner.

Then when the cops tell him to get on the ground, he refuses.

And in the first place why doesn't he just repark his car and then walk around to help his friend instead up pulling up right behing the cop car?

What goes on (or doesn't) in the guy's mind?

Believe it or not, I'll think Joey less of an idiot overall as far as who I would want on my team the higher his BAC was.

AGREE D ARRYL.........ACCOUNTABILITY..............BYW THIS IS THE LAST YEAR FOR BROWN AFTER THIS DUI .

The guy is a panzi! Fact is he can't Work well with anyone who is an authority figure as soon as they demand he do something or he has to be in a situation he doesn't like. The guy is a tool! Great player that let's his ego and refusal to work with authority define himself as a jerk that can't be worked with when things aren't going his way.. He was fine last year because he had a career year.. This past season was an average season at best and he couldn't except that at times he struggled and lost some playing time.. So he acted like a clown... Gets pulled over by pd and be acts like a clown when again he couldn't accept that he was caught under the influence and made a mistake.. Enjoy the new free agent pick up Arizona. We will surely enjoy ours!

Popcorn Muscles

As a white guy who doesn't look for conspiracy theories, I do find it odd that somehow a cop sensed Porter was drunk WHILE he has at a Taco Bell drive through... Not by his driving, the cop just had a suspicion... based on his nice car? or his loud music? or him being black? Could the cop have been following Porter and noticed erratic driving? Hopefully, because if not, any other reason would seem to include prejudice.
As for my feelings, I think Peezy is a bleeping idiot for assaulting the cop. Driving after drinking is an unfortunate part of our country. It's disappointing. You would hope that he would have a DD with him. But I'm a realist, and I know that plenty of people do it & have done it.

I remember when porter last year went to a Colorado state football game where he played his ball and was on the sideline and when they scored he wa doing all kinds of stupid stuff on the sideline and even got on the endzone and celebrated.. When the ref told him to move he gave the guy lip and Colorado state was given a 15 yard penalty for unsportsmanlike.. They said steve fairchild wanted to rip his head off.. Guy is just a tool.. I wonder if he got Cameron to break the bank on him because he told him that he would also give Cameron the Porter family as well.. That might have sealed the deal!

*shrug* I am starting to wonder if the Dolphins have more of a problem with alcohol than I believed. Will Allen, Ronnie Brown, and now Lord Portermort whose name must not be mentioned. All we need now is for Sparano, Ireland and Parcells to be arrested on a wild bender without clothing and the news disaster will be complete.

MartinK, The police officer had a friend of Porters pulled over on the street outside Taco Bell and Porter pulled over behind the patrol car. The officer, obviously concerned for his safety, walked back to Porters car to figure out why he had pulled over. When he walked up to Porters window he smelled alcohol.

All of this reflects on the Miami Dolphins as well as the individual players. Apparently, even though the Dolphin's management talk big about not tolerating negative behavior and bad character in their players, they have not done a good job of "walking the talk".

This is evidence by the actions of these players.
Maybe they should spend more time reiterating the team rules and counseling these players instead of playing golf or visiting the Marlins' training facility.

That's what happens when your stupid!

People in every profession get DUI's everyday, whether they are a custodian, bus driver or journalist.

The issue is why hasn't Roethlisberger been told to stay away from the Steelers until his cases are finished.

Plexico and Pacman were suspended before thier day in court.

Since the NFL hates bad publicity they should require that all players carry a personal breathalyzer to minimize DUI cases.

Actually, anyone that drinks should have one.

Dear Mr. Salguero

Shame on Joey and Ronnie and all the NFL players that get busted for this offense.

This is not some new law that has just been passed its been the law.

I myself would never strike another person unless I feared for my own or loved one's life.

According to the story Joey struck (slapped his hand ?) a police officer.

That in my book is disrepect of the officer and the law.

I myself have not walked in Joey's shoes and I don't know the tone or the atitude of the Police officer while interacting with Joey.

Some of the adults on this blog may have at one point in there lives have had a few drinks and driven some where and nothing happened(be thankful).

But the fact is Joey broke the Law by strikeing a Law enforcement officer.

I am happy that neither Joey or the Officer let the situation balloon into something worse.

My 2 cents

Soiled :)

Once out of football and he's blown through his money, dude will doing 5-10 in the big house for some stupid crime. When you have no sense of social responsibility and continue to go back to the places that were trouble for you when you were young...this is what happens. Guys like Porter can't break the cycle. They know nothing else no matter how its handed to them on the silver platter!

I will pray for him.

I could care less about peezy and his personal life troubles. I just think about the impact on the dolphins so I am still just happy he is not on the team.

Mando,
The underlying premise of your article is that JP talked a lot of s h i t and the stuff he said was wrong. But let's look at the facts:
-Ernest Wilford, 29 years old and averaging 14yds/catch and 1000+ yards/season all of a sudden can't catch anymore. This hapens to coincide with the signing of a QB that can't throw. Wilford is vocal about it and the team keeps him inactive for 20 games and then releases him. The Jags sign him and all of a sudden he can catch again and he's starting.
-Matt Roth is vocal about the s h i t t y job the coaches are doing on defense and all of a sudden he can't tackle anymore. He's kept inactive and then released. The Browns sign him immediately, make him the starter and he leads them in tackles the rest of the season.
-JP is vocal about the defensive coaching and even though he lead the team in sacks, while still missing 3 games and being platooned the team tries to make him look like an a s s h o l e and then releases him, the Cards immediately sign him and give him a real nice contract. JP will have more sacks for the Cards then any player on our team this year.
-Chad Pennington had lost his job as starter on the Jets because he can't throw effectively anymore and then the Jets released him within an hour of signing Favre. Parcells immediately signs him, without even requiring a physical for $10mil. It turns out that he CANNOT physically play the position anymore but rather then admit the mistake they keep him as starter. The QB coach David Lee comes up with the wildcat idea which is the one play where the QB IS NOT ON THE FIELD and the whole thing makes all of us look like h0m0s for a season and a half.

More worried about our young starters stepping up to become “stars” Mando. Porter is the past they are the future.

My point? Wilford, Roth and Porter are all still NFL quality starters.
This regime gets rid of players that are not afraid to admit that the king has no clothes on because it is inconvenient for THEM (not us the fans).
The same reason they won't sign TO.
So what if TO is a loudmouth? TO doesn'talk to me.
This regime puts thier own comfort and convenience before the fans.
They consistently field .500 teams, wherever they go, in an era of parity.
In other words they do nothing special.

Wilford was never a good WR, get real

Wilford had 11 catches for 123 yards last year.... I can't believe he didn't go to the Pro Bowl! This front office is so stupid for letting this hall of famer go!!!!!!! How can we live with this injustice!!!

LOL!!!!

These guys are MILLIONAIRES. Don't you think they would hire a driver? I sure as heck would!

Joey Porter is the smartest player in the NFL and a Class act. He is getting younger, not older and his skills are not dimishing!!!! He always has something smart to say and makes great decisions. On the field his run stopping and coverage skills are amazing! The trifecta will rue the day they let his genius go!!!!

LMFAO!!!!!

Good player. Dumb guy. He's lucky he was arrested in Cali and not in AZ or he'd be going to tent city.

Dear Mr. Nathaniel Dodsworth
