Add Ginn to Dolphins on trade block (with video)

Coach Tony Sparano has often said the Dolphins are happy with their wide receivers. Well, I guess one would have to define happiness if, as I suspect, the report Ted Ginn is on the trade block is correct.

NFL.com's Jason LaCanfora tweeted minutes ago that Ginn is being shopped by the Dolphins.

My question is who would buy and for how much?

Ginn is coming off a year in which he regressed in 2009. He caught 38 passes for 454 yards and one touchdown. He also dropped eight passes, which was among the NFL leaders in that category.

In 2008 Ginn caught 56 passes for 790 yards and two touchdowns. Not stellar, but there were still hopes Ginn could continue to improve. Those hopes took a significant hit last year.

At one point, Ginn lost his starting job before regaining it late in the season.

So where does this leave us?

One might assume the Baltimore Ravens might be interested as Cam Cameron is their offensive coordinator. Cameron was the one who drafted Ginn's family in 2007. General manager Randy Mueller drafted Ginn.

But let's face it, in a league where Brandon Marshall is available for less than a first-round pick and Anquan Boldin was traded for a third and fourth-round pick, Ginn's value cannot be very high.

The Dolphins might be lucky to get a low fourth rounder for Ted Ginn Jr. And that might be based on his promise as a good return man.

[Update: One NFL personnel man has returned an email on the topic and he confirms Ginn is on the market. He also said Ginn would have different value for different teams, with most showing no interest. He said someone might, might give up a fifth-round pick because Ginn's only 26 years old and has elite speed that is "tempting."]

In recent days it has come to light that Miami is willing to consider trading Ronnie Brown, Tyler Thigpen and now Ginn.

We'll see.

Jesus.. Thank god I was on the bowl when I watched that video.. Man that film is disgusting to watch!!! Hard to bear it!!!!

God I just want to punch him when he claps and says we got the ginn family... Dam that basterd!!!!

I have said this more then a few times. That I think that Lex Hilliard can be a difference maker for this team. Yes, he isn't a guy who will break one for 70 yrds. But what he can be is a guy who will gain 4yds a carry, who will hold onto the ball, who can pass block, and catch the ball, weather it be screens, or hot routes. As long as Parcells has been an architect of football teams, he has had a back like Lex on the squad. I know a lot of you think he will just be a role player, and that is fine. This is just my opinion.

Ted Ginn should not be traded. He has potential as a #2 receiver. How many teams even had a KR with (1) TD? TG had 2, and should have a lot more if it weren't for 15 penalties...also, how many TD catches has he had returned for penalty? Look I think the guy needs to step up big time, but we already wasted the 1st rd pick, gotta give him a shot as a #2 OR #3 RECEIVER and a good return guy.

The trifecta is getting on my nerves. I personally don't think sporano is the answer. If we draft spiller in the first round I will probably go postal. Just venting my frustrations over months of rumors. Resign JT!!!

D. Dunphy, I think ur right on with Hilliard and I think ur gonna see him coming out of the backfield alot more this year and catching balls

VERY LOUD NOISES!!!!

No way! Reading one of our best players? Come on who would you rather have, Gin or White?

tuna is becoming a joke. patriots and jets light years ahead of us now. he refuses to improve this team. best news ive heard all year is at least they are trying to deal worthless ginn

Ted Ginn, our best player....LOL smoke crack much??

go to profootballtalk.com to watch video of Jerry Jones ripping Bill Parcells to shreds. It's damn funny.

I agree with LA Dphin - trade Ginn and a 5th or 6th round pick to Denver for Brandon Marshall. Then we can grab EThomas or DBryant with the #1 pick.

3) Cobbs-Coming off an ACL repair from last season.

4) Little might Lex Hillard...5'9" 180 who is a north/south runner.

Uh flipper, Lex Hillard is not little, he is 5'11 240lbs.

Dear Mr. Salguero

I have 10,000 Ted Ginn Jr. Topps rookie cards I bought earlier this year as a retirement investment.

I bought them when I saw Ted Ginn led the NFL in some category...just dont remember which category.

If he is traded to another team will that effect the value of his rookie card ?

Do you think it was a good investment Mr. Salguero ?

Tryin to stay out of the poor house

Soiled :)

Let's just put the whole team on the trading block. Ginn has no value. A pick less than a 3rd is simply not worth it. I know he wasn't worth the 9th pick but he is not the devil. He has a skill set that many players do not have. I don't love him but I have to defend him. That drop at the end of the colts game was pass interference. Bethea had his jersey by the shoulder pad. Hard catch to make. Teddy...I forgive u.

Cameron : "A draft class you will be proud of"

Ginn - could have been Probowlers: Darrelle Revis, Patrick Willis, Michael Griffith, Brandon Meriweather or Jon Beason

Beck - could have been Probowlers : Sidney Rice, LaMarr Woodley, Steve Smith (NYG)

Satele - Bust, but at least turned into Grove

Lorenzo Booker - Bust. Trade turned into Shawn Murphy. Double Bust.

Soliai - not bad for a 4th rounder

Regan Mauia - Nothing but a laugh from a YouTube video.

Drew Mormino - Nada.

Kelvin Smith - Squat.

Brandon Fields - OK

Abraham Wright - Zilch.

Not exactly Mr. Cameron. You gave us a ball-dropping sissy,a backup tackle and a punter. Barely a step above the 06 draft which was a COMPLETE wash (Jason Allen and Derek Hagan). Let us hold this to heart before we blast the Trifecta, who have had two solid drafts since.

It seems very clear Miami is shopping the waters before this draft gets started. I feel they are making every piece of talent they are willing to barter well known and giving other clubs an opportunity and time to think over the ones that would be beneficial to them. There are teams that would benefit from having a reliable return man and general speedster. I applaud the fact that this management staff is taking this draft VERY SERIOUSLY... and realize the opportunity a great draft would have on our teams future. Our prime competition, the Wets, have made a choice to go "all in" on THIS season. In doing so they will be vulnerable in the seasons to follow. They will be left draft pick short and problem child rich should they lose the one year wonder contract gambles they are taking on these prodigal children they are hiring. Buffalo is several years out and NE is as they always will be as long as Brady is their QB... prepared. Miami having a great draft will give Miami 3 to 4 solid years to compete. Most of their O & D Line guys are signed for 4 to 6 years. Other positions are signed 3 to 5 years. There draft this year is intact and so is next. Most of the guys on our team are young, and this draft will add to our lineup. I like the strategy. Even if the Jests are successful (I do not believe they will be) they still have to pay the fiddler when this season ends. Miami could very well be in a situation with no one but NE in front of them in the AFC East over the nest 3 to 4 years. And NE has been on a slow decline for 2 years now. I am not displeased with our teams philosophy whatsoever. Still, it all rides on getting the people we want in the next two drafts. Mainly this one.

Enjoy ur posts Ask Bill...can't disagree with one point u made

GOD!!!!! PUT GINN IN THE SLOT AND RUN HIM ACROSS THE DEEP MIDDLE IN FRONT OF A SAFETY WHO CANT KEEP UP OR THE LB UP THE SEEM..... SAME WAY THE EAGLES USE DESEAN JACKSON... HE IS A SQUARE PEG, PUT HIM IN THE SQUARE HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....ok i feel better now

BTW Ginn is an inch taller, 5 lbs heavier, and slightly faster than Desean jackson who caught 9 tds last season and 1100 yrds

Look just because we are miam fans doesn't mean we can't admit that what the jets and patriots have done (the jets this year and the patriots every year) isn't great and that we aren't envious. Because the jets are going to kill us this year with the way things are going and so are the patriots. Seriously, how can anyone think we have a need more than wide receiver. They are watching a different team! Our number one had one td, and our number two (bess) has had three in two years! Brandon Marshall or santonio holmes have whatthey have put together and more. And guess what dolfans, all of u waiting for the draft might want to look at our last six years or so of drafting. It's hard to Stomach so bring a bucket.

Trade Ginn to Dallas for a pair of Super Bowl tickets and a few cheerleaders.

I see a number of comments above that talk about not wanting to get rid of Ginn, and calling him "one of the few playmakers we have." I appreciated that comment, as I laughed for a full 5 minutes. Ted Ginn was arguably the best receiver in the NFL last season at NOT making plays. Look at the drop rates...look at the downfield play rates. All that speed isn't worth jack if you can't make a play with it, and the entire Ginn family has proven to be singularly bustalicious since they were erroneously drafted at #9 overall 3 years ago. Cut our losses, try to get a super-sized happy meal in trade for him, but accept the medium drink if that's all that's offered up. Then use the 2nd round pick on a Golden Tate or Arrelious Benn...someone you can project to start immediately, and a 5th or 6th rd pick on a good upside WR prospect like Marcus Easley or Shay Hodge.

ARMANDO:

I LOVE THE PIECE YOU DID ON DEZ.

THAT's MY BOY.

I HOPE WE DRAFT HIM.

MANY TALK ABOUT HOW SLOW HE IS BUT GINN IS FAST SO THAT PROVES THAT SPEED ISN't EVERYTHING.

WE NEED 2 WIDEOUTS a NOSE,SAFTY,OLBS and GUARDS.

WE CAN't GET EVERTHING WE NEED SO WE SHOULD GET THE BEST PLAYER WITH THE FIRST PICK.

AND DEZ IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE DRAFT.

I really think it's gonna be hard to get anything for Ginn, smiley, thigpen.
I hope they can be traded but don't count on it.

Ummm excuse me sun Steven ? But name one other player who made defences have to be scared off besides ginn , tell me who BOMBED the best corner in the leage , tell me who else on this roster right now has even half the speed ginn has , you can teach technique and how to beat press and all that but you will never teach speed .

SUN STEVENS, TED GINN WILL NOT BE TRADED, HE'S VERY VALUBLE TO BE TRADED IN THE MARKET .TRADDE CROWDER IF YOU WANT TO TRAD A JOKE .

Both ginn and crowder suck. Trade them both for whatever they can get.

Marshall's being shopped for a 2nd.

Holmes went for a 5th.

Some of you guys are thinking a fourth for Ginn? For Ginn? Are you kidding me, FOR GINN?

Some of you may not know, but I'm sure the Trifecta does. At this point they don't want to be the ones coming out and offering deals. So what do they do? Draft 101. They let everyone know they're willing to wheel and deal.
If or when push comes to shove, they see "their guy" at the right spot, guys like Ginn and/or Smiley will be packaged with a pick.

ODIN.

CAN PLAY SOME MUSIC FOR US , THE FANS ?

Seriously though..........

The first trade scenario that came to my mind was to see if we can trade Ginn heads up for Willie Nelson.

I'm sure Willie could butcher up a fight song way better than Jimmy Buffet.

MUST BE SOFT MUSIC NOT HARD CRAP .

WILLIE NELSON ONE OF THE BEST VOICES EVER ,BUFFET CAN PLAY IN THE MUD .

For you Aloco I'll take requests.

PS: Tell Mamma Maria the Chicken Wings were kick a s s.

THANKS ODIN .OK GUYS , REQUESTS .

JO LO WILL BE THE DOLPHINS SINGER NEXT YEAR .

OR GLORIA .

WHY FLORIDA IS FAMOUS FOR BEING THE HOME FOR ALL THE THIRD RATE ARTISTS ?????????????

Aloco,

Do you think you could be starting tailback in J-Lo's BACKFIELD?

SABATO GIGANTE .

I almost puked watching that aweful video

IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT , THE GUY SAID ( TED GIN WILL BE A KICK RETURNER ) .

Is there really anyone out there who thinks Ted Ginn only dropped 8 balls last year? I mean, get real.

Not sure if anyone's posted this, but check out the dolfan reaction to the Ted Ginn draft, dude it's like we knew what would happen!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RaYgGSHJ5hM&feature=player_embedded

Richard that video gets funnier every time. For some reason we knew he would be a bust

Tedd Ginn put up 1300 return yards.
Be nice if Pat White takes his spot.

We really have a bunch of nonamers. How did we aquire so many no talents? unless youre a dolphin fan...u cant even name anyone on the team - lol - ricky williams still there?
This draft wont do anything substantial for this year-for u guys thinking the draft is going to make this team a winner in 2010, sorry. fews years out yet-
Winning teams usually have a few STARS...we have zero!!
Pat White...f me

YOU GUYS HAVE TO HAVE HOPE LIKE PRICEMASTER.

You're trying to bait me DontGo but I'm not falling for it.

For the money it's gonna cost to sign Dez we're better off trading for Marshall: 2nd + Ginn + Camarillo.

We need some positive news. It's just football and Miami has won more games in my lifetime then most franchises. Let's enjoy what we have and the great eight afternoons that the aqua and orange play in the stadium.

PFT says: "Ten teams have removed Dez Bryant off their boards, including Cleveland, Seattle and Jacksonville". How many want to bet the Fins are also one of the ten???

Dez is gonna holdout ala Crabtree for the money Marshall wants. Let's trade for Marshall.

PRICEMASTER HAS IT RIGHT .

Stars get to be stars by playing the game. They came up being developed just like every other player. They don't come from tree's that only grow in other teams locker rooms and they are not only found in free agency. As long as Miami continues their draft process of taking players that are big, athletic and good football players... We will have all we need. We draft our guys from the same place everyone gets theirs. The Dolphins are not on the ESPN 6 team info circus because they are basically on Media lock-down... with damn good reason. So no... we don't have a bunch faces known in other States.... screw a bunch of well known stars.... this is a team not a "HBO Reality show". Give it a year or so and we'll see if there are any "Stars" playing in Miami. All of which were drafted and developed right here on our own team.

**Breaking News**

Loose lipped sources deep inside the organization have just informed me that the Miami Dolphins have top secretly agreed to terms on a new contract for Jason Taylor.

My sources have indicated that while details of the new deal are not available at this time, the contract is expected to be signed..........sometime AFTER the DRAFT.

Follow me VERY closely on tweeter for late breaking developments:)

WAKE

Give Denver a 2nd rounder for this draft and a 5 th rounder next year and maybe ginn for Marshall we need him!
