« Meet Dolphins new starting NT: Randy Starks | Main | Dolphins add another LB -- A.J. Edds »

Day 3 about to start -- Get it!

I don't know about you, but I'm feeling fairly comfortable with what the Dolphins are doing so far in this draft -- assuming the players they are picking become instant contributors.

I expect Jared Odrick to be a starting DE in 2010. I expect Koa Misi to be a starting OLB in 2010 -- the Dolphins obviously do also based on the tact they've taken this offseason. I expect John Jerry to be the starting LG in 2010.

The Dolphins desperately need all three to be starters.

The Dolphins need to find one more starter today to make this draft a resounding success. They need to find a starting free safety somewhere in rounds 4-7. One guy in seven picks. That's all I'm asking for.

Six safeties were drafted in Day 2. Nate Allen, T.J. Ward, and Taylor Mays went in the second round. Morgan Burnett, Major Wright and Chad Jones went in the third round.

The fourth round begins in earnest at 10 a.m. The Dolphins can still land:

Reshad Jones (my prediction, if he's there), Robert Johnson (another Utah player whose selection wouldn't upset me).

After the fourth round, the value picks at safety are East Carolina's Van Eskeridge, Nebraska's Larry Asante, a former junior college linebacker who plays with that mentality. He seems more like a strong safety to me but, well, whatever.

The darkhorses? Virginia Tech's Kam Chancellor, a freak at 6-3 and 230 who has played some free safety for the Hokies or Gobblers or whatever they call themselves these days. He is thought to project as a strong safety but the Dolphins might have other plans. Michigan's Stevie Brown is a great hitter who actually played some linebacker for the Wolverines. He's another option.

Henne has a great slot option in Bess, a solid receiver in Camarillo, and a potential No 2 stud in Hartline. Fasano is a solid blocker and an average catcher. And of course, Marshall is a superstar. He has enough weapons to have a chance. I wish they could have picked up a star TE but that may have to wait until next year.

Doubt the JEts would ever think of doing business with us.

would've wanted a te but they thinned out to fast. at least the jets are done except for a 7th. we'll probably end up wwith a better draft than them.

Anyone remember who the other lightning rod was besides Jacoby Ford? Can't remember his name. Lightning fast

Is it 5 minutes per pick?? what is the time frame for the rest of the picks?

NO TRADE for Leon Washington.

finfanmek, the Jets new guys is Joe McKnight - the guy that almost killed himself doing the bench press in the gym

That's the the Biggest knock in him

Anthony Dixon...Miss State

Still Hoping for UW's OLB O'brien Schofield in Round 6 or 7. Tied with Brandon Graham for most tackles for loss this season. Tellin ya'll, we'd be getting a soldier for great value.

Stefan Johnson almost killed himself, not McKnight

The pats just c-blocked us with the pick of Hernandez.
Bellicheat is smart , he doesent need Hernandez but he knows we do.
Good draft so far but I will be dissappointed without an upgrade at TE ,

I actually thing Dorin can be ultimately better than hernandez...I think hernandez is overrated..and I like the gators, just my belief. You got to remember that half of these guys will wind up on different teams or not playing after evaluation and roster cuts

Cam Thomas !!! - Myron Rolle - Andrew Quarles - Carlton Mitchell - Reshad Jones. Someone of this group comes to Miami. I think we are having a good draft, they saw the player about a week, they know about it

there goes another te! come on!

Anyone remember who the other lightning rod was besides Jacoby Ford? Can't remember his name. Lightning fast

trindon holliday? from LSU

Im just answering a question...not saying we should draft him fellas...

Dolphins trade with Cowboys!

WE GOT 119!

There are no more elite speed guys left in this draft. Spiller, Ford and Best were far an away the fastest offensive players in the draft.

dolphins on

Yeah that was him. Holliday. Thanks

a trade awesome finally!!!

Dolphins trade up with Dallas?

Several players Dolphins liked have gone in this round: Pitta, Gibson, Easley, Hernandez.

Jones is still on the board.

119!, Some one we like!!

Dishpan, I stand corrected. You're right

Carlito, interesting that Pitt took 2 OLBs even though that's their main position of strength. No rest for the wicked I guess.

Who the hell is aj edds

Coverge LBer!!!

Do we still have 126?????

5 Ints last year...

Stats look good. Haven't seen anything on him

big guy. a banger. May play ILB for the Fins. Surprising pick. Is Crowder on the block then?

Edds had five interceptions last year...not too shabby

we got another OLB Edds. Does anyone know anyhting about him??

Yikes, we lost BOTH 4th rd picks for this guy..

AJ Edds, ok i like LBs. we only gave up a 6th to move up

Has anyone honestly heard of him?

u serious mando, wont let me post?

We trade to get AJ EDDs! are you serious. With sapp on the board this is who we take! lmao Is any one else still convinced BP is a genius. this is a joke. Bp is scared and doesn't want our offense to be good...just average. No Nose...NO Safety....No rb...No explosive wr.

nfl.com says we still hav3 #126

Raiders got Jacoby Ford from Jax

we traded our 4th and a 6th for that pick

From an Iowa fansite:

Looks to me like the Fins are loading up on high character, smart, and high motor players. I can't complain

is he your boyfriend or something?

We gave up 126 and 176 for this guy. Who is he?

Edds has been a productive three year starter for the Hawkeye defense. He wins with intelligence, toughness, instincts and technique rather than elite athleticism. Edds has decent range in pursuit and is aggressive to the pile. He is effective leveraging tight ends but needs added strength and power to set the edge versus larger offensive lineman. Edds needs to react quicker as route progressions unfold but has enough athleticism and instincts to be an effective zone coverage defender. He may be a liability in man schemes versus athletic tight ends and backs. Edds is a reliable open field tackler but not explosive on contact. Edds is a good football player that will likely contribute on special teams as well as giving valuable depth in his rookie season.

Balla you don't know shite.

dolfan484 we only had one 4th pick.
we gave them that and a 6th i think

Retract last statement.. 4th/6th

What did we give up to move up

I like the pick. Anyone that could be a team leader on the Iowa Defense is a good player in my book. They were Fing amazing this year.

Another Senior Bowl player...see a trend here?

Ok, so now we have a 5th and some... I hope we try and get a decent FS, NT or TE...which ever I´m happy with... wont mind trading up again for that...
