Dolphins pick G John Jerry in third round.

Dolphins coaches loved Mississippi guard John Jerry at the Senior Bowl. They also like him on tape.

Now, they'll get to add to the relationship as the Dolphins have just drafted Jerry with their third round pick.

Jerry is a rookie but he's quite experienced. He started 46 of 49 games for the Rebels. He played at tackle a lot but he projects at guard in the NFL.

The Dolphins obviously need help at left guard.

"I feel like I can play either one," Jerry said. "I have experience at both so I feel I can play either one."

Jerry is the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons defensive lineman Peria Jerry.

The team will try feverishly to trade guard Justin Smiley by the time the draft is over Saturday.

PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY MOST MIAMI FANS ARE AMONGST THE WORST SPORTS FANS IN THE WORLD.

You guys see a name u dont recognize, and automatically think it's a bad pick.

We had both starting guards injured last year & we're trading smiley, so we draft a guard (3rd best in the draft) n its a mistake? we take Misi over Kindle (who is going to require microfracture knee surgery) and you guys say its a bad pick? We draft Odrick & u think it's to play NT??? when it's clear they drafted him to play the 5 technique.

We drafted guys in Misi & Odrick that the Patriots and Jets (BOTH 3-4 TEAMS WERE COVETING)...

We drafted Clemons in the 5th & he was said to be the steal of the draft, so why not let him play this season? He didnt get much of a chance with Gibril there??

The NT they want (Cam Thomas) is still on the board, so why reach??? we reached on Hartline & Turner and fans booed, this year we dont reach & you guys STILL BOO... so what? let the qualified people take care of their business, and you just keep watching ESPN & keep thinking u know everything

hey "Inimounts" - you must be deaf.

Deaf AND dumb, you poor thing.

WestCoast...he has never played LG...RT and RG. Here we go again...trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

I don't care WHO Parcells has drafted in the past...I ONLY care about what he's done in Miami

Don't even get me started on the Free Agents

You see it half empty fishypete. I see it as we have quality depth all along the line and good competition. If any one of our linemen go down except for Long we have a ready replacement with not a lot of drop off. We have a versatile De that can play in the 3-4 or 4-3 and an OLB who can edge rush.

bravo Jsuarez88!!!

shut up fools!!

I Would Lik To Say That The Ravens Now Have:Kindle,FAT Cody And Ed Dickerson. The Ravens Is The Best Overrall Offence In The League. They Were 5th In Rushin Yards And 18th In Passin Yards. Now,They Added Boldin,Stallworth And Ed Dickerson

He started 46 games, including 12 at right guard as a freshman, nine at right guard in 2007, 13 at right tackle as a junior and eight at right tackle before shifting to right guard for the last four contests as a senior. He blocked for a 1,000-yard rusher in the 2006, 2007 and 2009 seasons. In the last two years, he allowed six sacks and eight quarterback pressures

Everybody plays tackle in college. Same thing with Odrick. He'll play inside on a lot of downs. They have the size to play anywhere.

These are great football players we are taking, they'll make the adjustments. It's not like trying to make pat white a drop back passer. These guys are players!

I remember when Bill Parcells first came to the NY Giants back in the 80's, His M.O. Was the same, drafting big think O-line and D-linemen. I do not think he ever have a true pass rushing DE, all his D-linemen were basically DTs. Big and strong on both sides of the line. I thought to myself, this guy is an idiot and will be out of the league in a week. Couple of years later the Giants were the most physically dominant team in the NFL. This formula works people. The Bigger, stronger teams will always be more dominant and successful over the long haul. Patience.

I am happy with the draft so far. A little surprising but in reviewing the players and, if we go with a hybrid 4-3 D, I am comfortable.

I love Jerry as our third pick. I was a big Ron Heller and Chris Donnelly fan so mean streak guys like Incognito and Jerry make me a happy fan.

I think these three will be fun to watch.

Marty Gilyard or Cam Thomas next (if either are available) would also be just dandy with me.

So, the only big issues are FS and TE. Could be they pick up one of each in the remaining rounds. Could be they are happy with Clemons/Culver (though I doubt it). Could be they are considering a strong push for Atogwe and, if it doesn't happen, will rely on the C/C combo. I do not see either Will Allen or S. Smith at FS. Smith def. needs to improve his tackling but he was better than adequate last year and I think will improve this year (certainly Nolan won't let him continue tackling with noodle arms...).

Great football players? They were taken where they were listed to be taken. I believe we should wait to see how they play before we call them great.

Ireland just said Randy Starks will be our new NT.

I agree completely Dolfan13. We are going to be bruising and in those high intensity rival games and late season football we will be absolutely punishing teams physically. It will define our team this year IMO.

Jeff Ireland just said live that Starks will move to the nose on the Dline.. I am loving our two lines !

Starks...I thought he said Pat White.

Historically great football players, not one year wonder Pierre Paul types. 3 yr varsity players. These guys can make some adjustments. 6'6 335lb double team with Jake grove on a 15 inside zone play. Ronnie's taking it to the house

Starks at NT, wow!

Uh I like the dansby, marshall and even the cheap incognito pick up but this draft seems like more of the same!! Big LINEMEN!! Look parcells being big and strong is not the ONLY way to win in the NFL!! How about a FAST, not a pass happy (CHEATRIOTS)type team but you gotta be EXPLOSIVE in this league or you wont win!!! GEEEZZZ Everyteam seams to be getting it but the PHINZ!! 1 good receiver (NOT FAST THO), no pass catching TE, Rbs are older and slower, QB has accuracy issues, uhhh I dont know if our offense is even better this year especially without TED SIDELINE JR!! lol
Seriously we need another FAST receiver, a NT and a ball hawking safety and then I believe we are IMPROVED from last year!

Big strong teams do not sprint to the superbowl. They push their way to it. Patience, they'll come out all right.

Mike Nolan apparently does not want or need a big NT in his system. I trust that he is an excellent Def. Coordinator, so I really wouldn't cry and complain until you see what is on the field during the season. Stop Whining already! As for Safety, it would be interesting if they picked up Myron Rolle from Florida State, he has talent, maybe he could turn into something special....never know...

Our d- and o-lines are really getting awesome.

Iupati is the best OG , Jerry a close 2nd. He is definetly better than Pouncey. Very surprised by the pick however. You might say Pouncey can play two positions but Jerry can play OG & OT. The OL & DL will be very strong & deep. The trenches will be able to rotate & stay fresh for the entire game. Culver is much better than Gerbil and don't know why they stuck with the rodent.

LMAO ok MARC, let me go down ur list...

2008

1 Jake Long Michigan SOLID ?? PRO BOWL!

2 Phillip Merling Clemson BUST? ROTATIONAL PLAYER

2 Chad Henne Michigan TBD?? TOP YOUNG QB

3 Kendall Langford Hampton BUST? HES A STARTER!

4 Shawn Murphy Utah State DENNYS?? TRADED

6 Jalen Parmele Toledo DENNYS? PRACTICE SQUAD, WE CAN ONLY CARRY 5RB, WHY WOULD U CARRY 6???

6 Donald Thomas Connecticut LOST STARTING JOB LAST SEASON??? WAS INJURED LAST SEASON...

6 Lex Hilliard Montana BACKUP? OH WAIT HE WANTED THE 6TH ROUND PICK TO BE BETTER THAN & START OVER RICKY AND RONNIE... OOOK

7 Lionel Dotson Arizona BUST?? YUP A BUST IN THE 7TH ROUND, I WAS EXPECTING A SURE HOF PLAYER HERE...

2009

1 Vontae Davis Illinois SOLID? BEST YOUNG CB TANDEM IN THE AFC

2 Pat White West Virginia BUST? NO DOUBT!

2 Sean Smith Utah NOT SOLD? BEST YOUNG CB TANDEM IN THE AFC

3 Patrick Turner Southern Cal BUST? HE HASNT EVEN GOTTEN THE CHANCE TO PLAY, HOW CAN U CALLA ROOKIE A BUST??

4 Brian Hartline Ohio State DECENT

5 John Nalbone Monmouth (NJ) BUST? U CAN ONLY PLAY 2 TE... HE HASNT EVEN HAD HIS CHANCE

5 Chris Clemons Clemson TBD

6 Andrew Gardner Georgia Tech DECENT

7 J.D. Folsom Weber State BUST?? ANOTHER 7TH ROUND BUST WHO WE EXPECTED WOULD A HOF PLAYER

I believe Miami likes Clemons more than you all think. Remember is was only his first year and he was a late round pick. Give the man a chance to grow. He ran a 4.3 in the 2009 combine so he can cover the field. I bet he will do fine this year at FS for Miami. I think with both our DB having a year to learn, the secoundary will be better than you think. I do believe they need to draft a safety to push Clemons but I am not going to cry if they do not get a starting FS in this draft. Clemons will do fine.

Been a great draft. Dolphins defensive and offensive line will be physical and tough. It's not gonna be fun to face the fins. Misi could be special and I love Odrick's versatility. These guys are football guys with high motors.

So so fustrated, why does the trifecta shy away from what's real... What is wrong with drafting needs that did well in college and are recognizable not these unheard of dudes who have potential WTF man I'm tired of this bull crap drafting. We need safties didn't draft any need a playmaker at olb didn't get one. What's up man I mean really what's up? I guess these guys like almost beating the colts and saints instead of getting guys who can put them over the top.

With Starks moving to NT these picks make perfect sense and give us incredible depth and versatility. We have a great Dline which will only get better when Ferg gets back to mix into the rotation.

The O Line is becoming a beast, the Jerry pick was excellent. Watch some film on this guy, tremendous, strong, gets out in front and can move. Our running game will be stout.

paladinpripe.....

Misi is a PROTOTYPE OLB IN THE 3-4 DEFENSE... HOW DID WE NOT GET AN OLB?

Clemons is a safety we were high on & drafted last year, why not let him start? thats why we drafted him to begin with!

Ask Bill Ruger @ 10:34, Great post buddy.

This is the worst draft in memory. I mean, really.

They took a guy in the first round who is a project, who Ireland says he isn't sure where the guy is going to play, and they went into the draft needing desperately needing a safety and nose tackle, and have done nothing.

Ugh.

Marc you don't judge a draft until they have played for 3yrs. The draft is about the future , not one yr after.

I also feel Miami needs to try and get Ricky Sapp(OLB) with thier four round pick. He is 6'4 256p. how has played some OLB. I feel he is a good pick in the 4th round.

Rd 4 Anthony McCoy/ Kam Chancellor
Rd 5 Myron Rolle/ Riley Cooper
Rd 6 Brian Jackson/ Aj Edds
Rd 6 Josh Hull/ Alterraun Verner
Rd 7 Lindsey Witten/ Willie Young

Sorry guys been out of the blogs for a minute. Does anyone know why teams keep passing up on Everson Griffin. I think he's good value on these rounds. Does anyone know whats up?!

I'm still hoping on Elgarette Blount and Jimmy Graham.

This is the worst draft in memory?

Dude, lay of the weed.

Off, I'll lay of it too.

Graham is taken

Saints took him

We gave up a chance to get a special player in sergio Thomas to draft a versitile average player in Odrick and a slow pass rusher in rd 2 who might have to move to ILB. At least Jerry MIGHT play and be sufficient. Let's see what tomorrow brings cause this regime has not picked well in late rounds here in the past. But we gotta have faith...........right???

Tom hartman...
Odrick is no project

He will start in place of Randy starks at the 5 technique. he the prototype DE in the 3-4. The Jets were going to draft him at 29, but we picked him.

How is this the worst draft when we got the best 5technique DE in the 1st round (which became a need after Starks was moved to NT) & we got the best 3-4 OLB available in round @ in Misi??

Explain that to me please?

Oh & we drafted Jerry because our two starting guards were injured last year & we r trading smiley.

So again, do tell

Krome 24s lmao Sergio Thomas?? Lmao... make up your mind... Earl thomas or sergio kindle?

Odrick and Misi were double teamed quite often, freeing up their teammates to make tackles. Misi will make a far better OLB then a DE like he was in college. Stats aren't always a tell tale sign of a player/prospect. Do your research before you so called Dolphin fans jump off a bridge. You guys just go by what all the so called experts say.

Jsuarez spitting facts! I like it.

Beerphin

I like the Myron rolle pick (I think they can get him in the 6th round). I also like the AJ Edds pick. Remember Miami needs a RB check out Lonyae Miller he is 6.0 220p an runs a 4.3 he may not have played much but he has the talent.

Sorry to call you out Inimounts but you say the dumbest things on this blog. I do feel for you poor guy.

Whats is yout IQ? Seriously, I might ease up if its really low.

Cuz....come on....you know what I meant. But yeah, it's funny. Still the fact remains about the pick

Odrick, average player?? Yeah... cus all the average players are invited to the combine & are projected as late 1st round picks... lmao. Odrick is a DE in the 3-4.

slow pass rusher? Misi was faster than Mr. Sergio Kindle who was projected as our pick at #12 & we were wise enough not to take him, as it was clear his value wasnt up to par and dropped into the late 2nd.

Kendrick Lewis could be a gu y later in draft for FS

I think a player like Joe Mcknight might be a player we are interested in. Kr and change of pace guy. Only of he keeps falling though.

Seriously the dolphins messed up. We should've taken jerry hughes de and made him a olb. In the 2nd we should've taken taylor mays or major wright even though he's small

Beerphin. Nice job Forcasting Misi earlier today. I think you are the only one on this blog that got that one right. I was wrong, I did not think he would be our choice. I have seen him play in person, and was not overwhelmed by what I saw.He got pushed around a little, and got lit up by a smaller Rb in pass protection.I know one game doesn't define your career.
The trifecta look like they want versitlie guys. Players that can be coached up, and that fit into our system. Not players that look good on mock boards, or favorites of a blog

Cuz, i really dont know who you meant... that's why i'm asking. lol i HOPE u meant earl thomas. well if you did... look at it this way,

do you rather get One starter in earl thomas , and wait until the 3rd round to pick again?

OR

would you rather get two starters (Odrick at DE now that starks is at NT & Misi at OLB) + some LB depth with dobbins?

One starter or two? in a team with holes to fill and a potential starter waiting in the wings (clemons), i would rather get two starters... but thats just me.

Hughes is too small for the trifecta. They like prototype players, not
undersized guys.

I live 15 minutes from USC and trust me you don't want Taylor Mays. Maybe at olb, but not at safety

http://content.usatoday.com/communities/thehuddle/post/2010/04/dan-marino-hears-boos-at-nfl-draft-as-one-of-several-legends-announcing-picks/1

I missed that...The g@y JETs fans booed Dan? Those c0ck suckers!

Odrick is about the same size as the nt bill had with the cowboys and he is a bull. Koa is perfect for solb. jerry is a beast! there are good fs and te still on the board. Chill people they will get the needs filled.

I like hernandez and pitta a lot. They can catch the ball

FinsFan: Taylor mays, as much of a beast as he is (which he certainly is) HE IS NOT A FREE SAFETY.

Gibril Wilson is a better & more fluid safety... that should give u a clue... As far as schemes go, Taylor Mays WOULDNT FIT OUR COVERAGE NEEDS.

Jerry Hughes pick, wont argue wiith you on that one... that was my pick at 28.

BUT i wont argue with the Dolphins either. They drafted the best guy available at the 3-4 DE position, & got their starter in Misi. Who was projected early second round. Just as Odrick was projected late first round.

Solid picks.

I agree with you WestCoastFan. Those are TWO STEALS at TE... I hope we pick one of them tomorrow. Cant go wrong with either one of the two.

Maybe now that we settled NT & OLB, we could take the luxury and draft a TE to replace FumbleASANO
