Dolphins select Utah OLB Koa Misi

Koa Misi is Miami's second round pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

That obviously fills a need. The Dolphins had only Cameron Wake, Charlie Anderson, Erik Walden and Quentin Moses on the roster. Anderson is a career backup. Wake is unproven. The other two are backups.

Misi has a chance to come in and start and, well, that's the point.

Misi is 6-3 and 250. He comes from the same program that produced cornerback Sean Smith. The Dolphins like that program. Misi had five sacks and 9.5 tackles for losses among his 71 total stops in 2009.

Misi played mostly as a DE at Utah. But he's not worried about moving to OLB.

"I didn't play too much but I played three or four games at linebacker this past year and a couple games the year before that," Misi said. "I feel pretty comfortable at the linebacker position."

And what about dropping into coverage?

"Great! I feel comforable with dropping into coverage," he said.

How does Misi describe himself?

"I'm a hard worker. I like to learn and I'm very coachable. I listen very well and play even harder. This is my dream and I'm finally here. I'm ready to play."

Misi is of Tongan descent.

Misi's father often attended Koa's games. One time, the player said, his dad wanted him to get more motivated so he came onto the field and head-butted Misi. Misi was wearing a helmet at the time.

His full name, by the way, is Nawa'akoa Lisiate Foti Analseanoa Misi.

Well i guess we are serious about running the ball , Jerry is huge but not very mobile.

What are you kidding me !!!
I wanted Major Wright in this spot!
Not an OG..!

with that pick they better be trading back in to the 3rd

Height:6'5"
Weight:328 lbs.
Arm Length:34 in.
Hand Size:9 3/4 in.
College:Mississippi
Conference:SEC

A F*ing GUARD?

Hope Jerry can play LG, or else it's bye bye Vernon Carey

Obviously we're getting Otagwe

Wasn't what I expected but Jerry's a KILLA!

I would say Major Wright is gone to Chicago - gonna need to get a Safety later in the draft

john jerry is peria jerry brother and is a big dude. miami liked him for a long time. smiley will be a goner for a 3rd day pick

there's no good free safeties left

I'm starting to think we could be signing Atogwe from the Rams

i am kinda upset that the only picks we have made
ALL 3 of them
were ONLY players from the senior bowl.
There actually are other players out there who didn't play in that game

tim, what's up man ,do you need a man tonight ?

Jerry is a massive lineman that moved to tackle for his senior year at "Ole Miss" but will need to move back inside to guard for the next level. He can engulf and overpower opponents once he gets his hands on them but can also struggle against speed when playing on the edge. He is not a natural knee bender and tends to let his pad level get too high on a lot of blocks. He is more of a mauler and brawler than an explosive blocker and knocks opponents off the ball. He could stand to lose some weight if he wants to become a full-time player at the next level.

Not very encouraging from NFL.com

Henne will have all day now and r&r will pound it. Good solid pick again. Not flashy but solid and usable.

OG...you have to love TUNA....could care less with what anyone else thinks. He build O and D Lines. Always gets starters with size and character and work ethic. He will never do what the draftnics, sports writers and fans think. He is a stud!!

"He is more of a mauler and brawler than an explosive blocker and knocks opponents off the ball"

Trade up!

I hope ur right JPAO.

wow I cant believe this pick?? an offensive lineman. I cant understand. Why? we need help at safety, olb, tight end? and we pick an offensive?? this should be our postion of stength. This is the strangest draft so far. What do you guys think?

REMEMBER NJ PHIN FAN TO KEEP THAT COCCO BUTTER IN YOUR REAR BECAUSE IT SHOULD HELP FROM NOT GETTING SO RAW IN THERE. I TOLD YOU TO PUT THE K-Y IN YOUR DUMPER FIRST BUT YOU DIDN'T LISTEN

Jerry will be our starting LG folks, but we still need a nose, hopefully Cam Thomas is still there after we deal Smiley!

BOBBY:

THE REAL JUSTIN CREDIBLE IS HERE NOW WHAT's GOOD?

NOT THE FAKE MINI ME YOU WERE BLOGGING WITH BEFORE.

Draft suck... No playmaker... Never the
best player available

Yeah, JPAO, 3 years in and he's STILL building the lines! ABSURD!

BPA I guess, on their board.

Don't agree with either pick today but I hope I'm wrong.

And Parcells comes thru with 3 Monsters on both sides....FANTASTIC!! N

What number do we pick at in the 4th?

darren sharper rite?

Well, we had a need at LG and drafted for it. Not as big a need as S and NT but it I guess I'm ok with it.

This is a good pick... Better than any safeties left...

yo Ray - they just picked an OLB last round dude

man they must think culver is the answer

Well Mando... how to analyze this.

They obviously wanted nothing to do with smiley anymore. This guy is HUUUUUGE! More protection for henne. More holes for ricky and ronnie.

But considering we STILL haven't addressed the safety position. I hope we make a run for otogwe or at the very least Darren Sharper.

exactly , bobbyd12

there goes Major Wright

Gotta have a Phins Jersey with this on the back (and probably extending to the front!)

"Nawa'akoa Lisiate Foti Analseanoa Misi"

Goof F'in job Parcells. You suck!!!! What are you doing???

little worried that we don't have a nt to stop the run
a fs to stop the long pass

I guess I am confused but wasn't that a problem for us last year? We could have Dan Marino in there throwing for us, but when we give up chunk yards even Danny can't throw enough touchdowns. We need to get a big playmaker to stuff the run and cut off the long passes! Just where do they think that is coming from?

This pick is bullsh*t Jerry was projected as a 5th round pic !!

IMO we have drafted 4 starters so far. I'm adding BMarsh as a second round pick. We got flash and strength. Go grab a box of tissues if y'all don't like it. A lot of us here are happy.

Building the team from within. Gotta say, good job trifecta. These aren't the popular picks. But this is why we squwak on this blog and aren't in the front office building the team. All three guys are versitle players. They must think that all are coachable, and will improve in our system.

Like I said before, for the guys in here that think this is a bad draft you just DON'T know football at all...you are just big name hunting

So much for the 'must haves, needs and wants' theory.

Afinfan, I l know the Tuna, Ireland, Sporano, Gil Brandt and everyone at NFL Sirius don't know as well as you do, but they ALL love the pick!

So that dead horse, back to me kicking it some more. A scheme versatile, athletic football player. A guy who can play multiple spots up and down the offensive line.

there goes jonesssssssss......

Hope John Jerry can play some free safety for us or we're toast!

Cuban. Where are you?

Marc - Just watch and learn. The lines are where it all begins and stops. The lines are now rock solid. Look at where they were before TUNA. It takes three years to fix what TUNA took over. Don't forget Dansby and Marshall this off season. ROCK SOLID offseason!!!!

He was ranked above Wright.

Right below Cam.

Even if we wanted these guys somehow each one was projected a round back. We should have waited on each of them and picked up cody or someone else in second

If all you want flash or sizzle you better go find another team and come back when TUNA is dead. Just not going to happen here.

Remember Ferg was a 6th rounder. So the FO will find a run stuffer... Free safety though, beats the hell outta me!! But in tuna I trust!!

They say Bill picks his NTs in the last 3 rounds.

All three played in the SENIOR BOWL !! Coincidence ??? NOPE !!!
