The night just got longer for the Dolphins. And their quiver of arrows to use in this draft just got more full.
They have traded the No. 12 overall selection in the first round to San Diego for No. 28 overall. The Dolphins also gave up their fourth round pick (110 overall) and a sixth round pick (173 overall).
The Dolphins got the San Diego second-round pick, No. 40 overall, and a fourth round pick (126 overall). There is also a rumor, unconfirmed, the Dolphins got linebacker Tim Dobbins.
Dobbins is now oficially confirmed as coming to the Dolphins.
The Chargers used the pick to select RB Ryan Mathews of Fresno State.
Miami's pick will now come around 10:30 p.m.
The Dolphins have a total of 10 picks now in this draft. As I wrote today, this helps Miami pick up not one starter in a deep draft, but two starters in a deep draft.
I like it!

Odrick is a 5 technique, not a 0, or 1 tech. so he will play over the tackle at DE.
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | April 22, 2010 at 10:38 PM
Let's trade Odrick for Tim Tebow. WILDCATTT

Heya there guys! Great to be on this'a Herald newspah'per team. Here is my first scoop: This Just In: The Dolphins will draft a 365lb Crawdad to play pass-rush left end next round.

Caneshope, shutup
Posted by: bobbyd12 | April 22, 2010 at 10:38 PM
What is all this chatter about Odrick not being big enough for NT??
He's 6'5" 304lbs
Ferguson is 6'3" 310lbs
Not really much of a difference.

whatever you do don't draft a a position of glaring need. what the heck. kindle or cody or both with the 2cd tomorrow. i guess theyare admitting their other dt picks were a bust. white last year and now this. waste a 2nd now a 1st.
Posted by: sullysfins | April 22, 2010 at 10:40 PM
WTF...how many DTs do these guys think they can put on the field at one time?
Langford (will start)
Starks (almost a pro-bowler)
--------
Merling
McDaniel
Odrick?
They drafted a backup DT in the 1st round? I feel just like I did after the Pat White pick and the Ted Ginn pick. This just makes absolutely no sense.
Posted by: mike | April 22, 2010 at 10:41 PM
Really messed it up.
Another DE????????
I am going to go sit on a stick for this one!!!!
Posted by: bobbyd12 | April 22, 2010 at 10:42 PM
Could the FO trade Odrick to get more picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds?

Posted by: phinfan200 | April 22, 2010 at 10:46 PM
there goes our DTRB for DET pick as Detroit picks RB Best
Posted by: DEFinFan | April 22, 2010 at 10:46 PM
guys who don't understand A NT HAS TO BE UNDER 6'3" so they have more leverage to man the middle
this guy is 6 5 a DE in a 3/4
this guy would be a great pick to play DT in a 4/3
what a WASTE.......
Posted by: Mr mojorisin | April 22, 2010 at 10:50 PM
something to think about can LANGFORD move to OLB/????
Posted by: Mr mojorisin | April 22, 2010 at 10:51 PM
9 picks left before the Dolphins pick again. And no one we really like is slipping off our board. Three of them will be Clausen and McCoy and that OT I can't remember his name. So that means, with the 40th pick, at least ONE of these players will be available:
Kindle
Hughes
Weatherspoon
Mays
Cody
Gresham
Tate
Posted by: mmmtravis | April 22, 2010 at 10:51 PM
Gresham was taken by cincy.
Posted by: Inimounts | April 22, 2010 at 10:52 PM
Meaning: I could get excited about ANY of those players. This is a good draft, guys.
Posted by: mmmtravis | April 22, 2010 at 10:52 PM
Parcells is jacking up are draft quicky. Another DT while the Jets add another aggressive cb who can tackle and be tremendous in the return game. Kiper says the kid has the best feet of an cb in the draft...4.3 guy.
Best goes to Detroit ...speed galore. At least he wont be in a pat uni.
Just don't understand parcells methods with these random players. told u our lb will come from troy st. this diamond in the rough b.s is getting old. Passing up on great talent to find blue collar under the radar kids will keep us at 8-8 for a long time.
Posted by: Stra8balla | April 22, 2010 at 10:52 PM
Just terrible.
Posted by: Yitz | April 22, 2010 at 10:53 PM
This pick reminds me of merling. Another big fat dt disappointment
Posted by: Inimounts | April 22, 2010 at 10:53 PM
My bad, okay, we just need one more team to bite on an RB or a DE. Or we could get that Linvul guy?
Posted by: mmmtravis | April 22, 2010 at 10:53 PM
Sad Day..

Posted by: EddyG | April 22, 2010 at 10:56 PM

Posted by: Steve | April 22, 2010 at 10:57 PM
Taylor Mays, Cody or kindle
Posted by: MojoMark in Central Florida | April 22, 2010 at 10:59 PM
Saints take kindle
Posted by: wheenus | April 22, 2010 at 11:04 PM
Sorry, I meant Robinson
Posted by: wheenus | April 22, 2010 at 11:06 PM
wake up football minds!!
odrick will be a strong side olb in a 4-3 hybrid de/olb roll like roth was excelling at. run support and pass rush. danby will cover over him and wake will move to weakside rush backer.
odrick is an animal do some research on him. this and jake long are the two best 1st round picks in decades!!
Posted by: scott alderson | April 22, 2010 at 11:09 PM
I agree...I like the pick. He can fit into multiple different positions in Mike Nolans ever changing schemes. This gives us a young stud to plug in all over and keep the opponents off balance....dare I say he has the body of a younger JT!!!

Hey I would like to know whether the Dolphins also traded away their third round pick # 73 in this trade? As it stands right now they have 2nd Rd. # 40; No third Round pick; 4th Rd # 126; 5th Rd. # 145; 6th Rd.# 174; 6th Rd#B-179; 7th Rd#A-212; 7th Rd #B-219; 7th Rd #C-#252. What gives?
Posted by: Orlando | April 23, 2010 at 12:04 AM

Posted by: Orlando | April 23, 2010 at 12:13 AM
