« Final word (I think) on Taylor offseason offer | Main | Dolphins trade 1st pick San Diego Chargers »

Draft live blog here at 7:30 p.m

Just arrived at Dolphins camp and this is what I'm hearing at this hour.

Yes, the Dolphins want to trade down. This surprises you? I wrote a column about the possibility in today's Herald and tweeted about it 20 hours ago. Big whoop.

The national networks are breathlessly reporting the Dolphins want to trade back. I would tell you to keep in mind that to trade back, you have to have a partner. Among the teams everyone knows are trying to trade up are Dallas, Philadelphia, Green Bay, and the Giants.

I hear the Chargers are also trying to trade up, but they are offering players as chips to make that deal, not necessarily draft picks. Short of Antonio Gates or Vincent Jackson, I have a hard time believing the Dolphins would go there with the Chargers. I know Bill Parcells was not in the past a huge Shawne Merriman guy.

Part of any Dolphins trade scenario today and beyond could include Justin Smiley or Ronnie Brown or one of the quarterbacks as part of the deal.

And what happens if the Dolphins drop?

I'm narrowing my list of favorite players to be picked to five if the Dolphins trade: Michigan's Brandon Graham, Penn State's Jared Odrick, Georgia Tech's Demaryius Thomas, Fresno State's Ryan Mathews and Boise State's Kyle Wilson.

For the wider list of players on the radar, check out this post on my blog from last night.

That's it for now. I'll be in and out of the blog between now and 7:30 p.m., when I'll start blogging live. Get it!

do you guys like this format better than the weekend format?

Go Phins! STARTERS and Game changers now!

Martin in So Cal Pumped!

Lock and load people!

Mando, you must be kidding right? All this talk about defense and shoring up our front 7 and you say this? Be serious please.

no smoke no drink no food but got here just keeping my fingers crossed here @12??

Mark in Toronto, now the only time u get up at 3 AM is to go to the bathroom, I know the feeling bubba

Armando...no one said it was wise but it could be practical. There's plenty of talent in the top of the second round.

I like more time between picks.. Gives more time for moves to be made.. Also like primetime, but may change my mind if I'm hung over tomorrow.

Just cracked a Heineken! LETS GO FINS!!! My prediction is SPILLER... MAKE THE OFFENSE KILLER!!! now that ted 'I still wet my bed' ginn is gone we're looking for a dual threat...right?

By the way, Dan Marino just told jeff darlington if he was in Jason Taylor's position he'd go to the Jets, too:

"If I was in the same position, I'd do the same thing," Marino said.

I don't love this format. I will be lucky to still be awake for most of tonight. I used to love the Saturday draft that started at noon. It was a great all-day event.

Anyone else get the feeling there will be a major Phins trade? I got a feeling Ronnie is a gonner?

Go Phins!

I like this format.

We get more time to make moves. That gives us the advantage because we got the best "Movers".

j-precise, u in jail???

Wish it started Friday night Mando.

i can't watch either so i'm counting on you guy's for updates??please 1-33??

They got Graham going 11th to the Broncos.

Yeah 12's too much of a reach? PLEASE!

Mayock has giants landing McClain at 15.. Hope that ain't so so we can move down 3 and still get Thomas

The pick better not be Iupati at 12. How do you leave Jerry Hughes out of your list if Fins trade down Armando?

Under 5 minutes guys

OK I just got in after banging out legs. Sergio kindle is rated higher than hughes because kindle is better vs the run and better in pass coverage right now.

As of right now I liked the old format... We'll see how it goes though.

there are unconfirmed reports the Dolphins are now talking to the Cowboys about a trade down.

can ronnie be traded without signing his tender?

Armando you are correct. Weatherspoon is better suited at OLB in the 4-3 where he can use his great athletic ability.

might as well be..just strugglen to get my own thing going?gotta make sacrifices??sucks.but thats life!!TRADE DOWN please gain 2nd back!!

Thats the rumor Mando, they want Dez.

can ronnie be traded without signing his tender?

The new format seems like a hollywood awards show...all thats missing are some musical numbers and few jokes by Chris Rock.

do not draft a guard with our #12 pick!!!! it will be the highest pick we have for a while and we can find a guard some other round....we need defense!

One minute!!!!

so no ronnie trade today then?

Rolando McClain at #12 please. Make it happen Bill, make it happen....

Still Weatherspoons stats speak for themselves! I like and Hughs and Graham and Kindle.

Think we will go OLB or FS @ 12.

Armando, if the Rams don't take the amount of picks Cleveland is offering, they must be insane

Keep me updated fella's gotta mix another drink. LOL!

It's Showtime baby!

No Iupati!!!!! We need defense people! DEFENSE!!!!!

its 12.30am here and im excited

Liked the old format Mando.

Like it so far but too early to tell

Good evening Armando... Guys.... Looks like the Clock has finally struck Midnight!!!

Could you imagine 30 rounds of this like back in the old days

Nice crowd down here at Stadium, lots of excited fans!!! Please don't dissappoint us.

i like the new format, drags out football over the weekend a little longer!!!

I don't think we'll stay at 12. And depending on where we trade down to, we'll either grab Earl Thomas, Ryan Matthews, or Sergio Kindle. And if Matthews is the pick, Ronnie will most likely be gone shortly thereafter. But I think we could trade Ronnie and not draft a RB all the same

Alright don't disappoint Miami.

No Iupati.

No No No NO!

We argue alot, but you won some points in my book with your "california orange"... Maybe your not so bad after all....

At the 12th pick the Miami Dolphins take Ted Ginn! Opps LSD flash back.

greedy's in the house...wassp dol-phans!!! Finally the draft!

So Rick Gosselin says Demaryius Thomas...he has one of the most respected mock drafts...

No Iupati. Let's go baby!!!! Let's go malakes!

Its about time!

rams pk.s.bradford??qb/oakl.
lions pk.n.suh??dt/neb
first 2 gone??

whats up Bobby?..... Hows the Party???

Here we go
Got my dolphin gear on and I'm ready to go

IF iupati is there at 12 ?? LOL !! he'll be there , taking him is another matter.

Trade down

bobbyd12... enjoy your time at the stadium!!! Go Dolphins!
