From 7 p.m. until approximately 10 p.m. Tuesday night, I spent time on the phone and in person listening to Jason Taylor, or people close to Jason Taylor, or family members of Jason Taylor, or associates of Jason Taylor. (I admittedly did not communicate Dr. Doolite-style with Jason Taylor's dog.)
When I arrived home I got a call from the Miami Dolphins and spent 45 minutes on the line listening to what they have to say about, you guessed it, Jason Taylor. By the way, 45 minutes on the line with folks representing an NFL team is an aging experience.
Following that I will now share with you what I know and what is curiously not settled as this chapter of Taylor's Dolphins career comes to a close.
What I know:
1. Taylor on Tuesday morning accepted from the New York Jets the only contract offer he had on the table to him. Period. There was a report on the Dan LeBatard radio show here in South Florida that quoted a source saying the Dolphins had an offer on the table for Taylor and he decided to take the Jets offer anyway.
Wrong.
"It was take this or go on a nationwide (Dancing with the Stars) tour with Jerry Rice," said Taylor, who also called LeBatard's source "a liar."
The Dolphins are in agreement with Taylor on this issue. They confirm they did not currently have a contract offer on the table to Jason Taylor.
We're off to a good start.
2. The Dolphins offered Taylor a contract extension in early November of 2009. That was reported here yesterday, Taylor said it in his press conference, and the Dolphins confirm this is true.
And the manner in which the offer came is also not up for debate. It came in a private meeting between Taylor and Bill Parcells himself.
And the offer came in the form of a Post-it note.
Parcells wanted to deal with Taylor directly. No agent was supposed to be involved. That seems to be increasingly the way the Dolphins operate with their veterans. Remember that last year Parcells approached Ricky Williams to discuss his contract?
Williams thought the team wanted to cut his salary. Instead, Parcells handed Williams a note with the figures for a contract extension. The caveat to the note was that Parcells didn't want to go through Williams' agent. And so Williams, needing money, happily left agent Leigh Steinberg out of the loop and accepted the Parcells contract extension on a Post-it note.
Well, the Dolphins tried the same thing with Taylor.
He declined the offer and instead referred the Dolphins to his agent Gary Wichard.
"It wasn't the right time," Taylor said. "I wasn't comfortable with the contract situation coming up then. Maybe I grew up old school, back in the days of Jimmy Johnson and Dave Wannstedt and Rick Spielman. We didn't talk contract once the season started. My focus was on trying to get to the playoffs, not on talking money. And why would I do a deal without my agent? Bill Parcells and Jeff Ireland have an agent."
3. The Taylor camp believes that once the player declined the Big Tuna's personal offer, that triggered something that doesn't resemble love. The Dolphins do not argue the point that perhaps -- perhaps -- Parcells was not thrilled Taylor rejected his personal overture.
4. The Taylor camp to this minute does not know if the Dolphins would or would not have offered them a contract after the draft. And the Dolphins don't know 100 percent, either. That decision, they say, was going to be made after the draft. And they admit they might have decided not to offer Taylor a contract.
5. The idea about after the draft is troubling but moreso in that there is agreement on it than not. The Dolphins say that after Taylor received an initial offer from the Jets, they were told of the offer from the Taylor camp. No disagreement there. And the Dolphins say their response to finding out those numbers was to inform Taylor and his agent they wished to make their decision on Taylor "after the draft."
And, they say, that as late as Monday, the Taylor camp was "fine" with waiting until after the draft.
The Taylor camp agrees that they were initially "fine" with the idea of waiting until after the draft. No disagreement there, either.
Now here is where we get into disagreements:
1. The Dolphins, far as they know, still believe the Taylor camp was "fine" with waiting for Miami's decision after the draft. The Taylor camp obviously felt that a decision needed to be moved up because the one offer they held -- that of the Jets -- could easily disappear after the draft.
The Taylor camp says it reached out to the Dolphins when it became clear the Jets could pull their offer. The Taylor camp says it requested a decision one way or the other but got no response.
Why there wasn't one last-minute, last-gasp attempt to keep Jason Taylor in a Dolphins uniform, is unclear to Taylor. In fact, to this day Taylor doesn't know why he didn't get any Miami offer. "If I was told why, I could express it to you," he said. "But I wasn't told."
The Dolphins say there was nothing to express. They were waiting until after the draft.
2. About that November contract extension:
The Taylor side feels Parcells took Taylor declining to deal without an agent personally. The Dolphins side doesn't necessarily refute this as stated above. But ...
Parcells would not allow personal feelings to get in the way of completing imperative football business even if his feelings have a little boo-boo. (Salguero personal opinion: Taylor simply wasn't imperative to the Dolphins. If he was 25 instead of 35, he would have become imperative. But he isn't.)
3. Taylor said that once he turned the situation over to his agent he expected the negotiation to continue but that eventually the offer was pulled. The Dolphins say that once Taylor declined Parcells' offer, it was turned over to Jeff Ireland to handle and that negotiations indeed continued for some time between Ireland and Wichard.
(I'm getting a headache, aren't you?)
4. The Taylor camp is not really going here, but I am: They believe they were disrespected. Taylor, they say, is an all-timer with the Dolphins that, no matter what your football evaluation is, should be respected and treated well based on what he's meant to the franchise for 13 years.
They don't believe either Parcells or Ireland recognized the player's place in team lore and dealt with him poorly by playing the "after the draft" game. Taylor just wanted to know outright if the Dolphins wanted him or not. Black or white. The Dolphins told him to wait until after the draft in 2009, but they also told him they wanted him. They told him to wait until after the draft in 2010, but didn't hint as to whether he was in their plans or not.
Taylor was ultimately frustrated by the gray of "after the draft."
You saw part of that peek through when Taylor said, "I'm happy somebody wants me to play for them. The Jets have given me an opportunity to play and not just an opportunity but they showed me they wanted me up there ... They made it clear what they wanted to do."
The Dolphins? They insist they respected Taylor's historical standing.
But, they add, at the end of the day, they simply made a football decision.
[BLOG NOTE: I know there were issues with all of you being able to post comments on Tuesday. I was flooded with e-mail complaints that the blog was broken. I'm told the issue is being resolved. Personally, I blame it all on the New York Jets.]

If it were any other team besides the hated Jets or Patriots you'd have my blessing, JT. But noooooo! You had to cave in to the Jets...who probably tempted you to join just to spite us.
Well...you leave us no choice now, my fine fickle friend.
You'll just have to be included every Sunday in our spell when we put our customary "malickey" on the Jets." You'll just have to be a victim by association when we give them "the horns" sign.
By the way...don't forget to remind Fireman Ed that we think he's a jackass!
Posted by: Aqua1 | April 21, 2010 at 07:18 AM
Taylor tried to force the issue and the Trifecta were actually unsure if his production last year was because of his decline or because of the way Coach P.P used him. So they wanted to see what cards they had after the draft but Taylor's passion wouldn't have it. The Trifecta is a threesome dictatorship where nothing happens without Parcells green light and Parcells ego is bigger than Taylor's so there you have it. These guys are saying is "my way or the highway" and I believe what was behind that is that they wanted to give the young guys more reps. They are accumulating pieces and in their belief that this is a crucial year they wanted to see what kind of team they had.

When ur boss comes to u and gives u a note with a $$ amount. U knowing the ricky williams story how he was offered. If u turn down that offer JT KNOWS what that meant. U dont do that and expect to stay. Parcells thought enough of him to sit down man to man and JT went businessman on him. What we dont know is the amount of the offer made but it was not chump change. This info changes everything. Dont talk smack about Fins they tried. JT when u get in that Jets uniform it will be like Thurman Thomas in a Fins uniform all WRONG. The deed is done so move on. GO FINS!!!!!

Way too much drama!! Whatever - let's move on.... I have to believe a little puke is going to come up in the back of JT's throat when he puts that Jets uniform on the 1st time. Anyway, he is the enemy now.

Dear Mr. Salguero
My fish tank only has room for so many fish.
When one gets to old a decision is made.
Do I let the old fish stay in the tank till it flounders and then becomes a floater ?
Or do I do whats best for the fishtank as a whole and just Flush the old fish down the toilet ?
What would you do Mr. Salguero ? I think I know what Mr. Parcells would do.
When I flush an old fish down the toilet does that fish end up in New Jersey ?
Soiled :)

Ok I'm done talking about the JT situation. I loved watching JT over the years but he made his decision. Granted the FO should have offered him a contract but it is apparent that they want to go in a different direction. Good luck to you JT your gonna need it when Brandon Marshall runs you over! Can't wait for the draft, espn.com is saying the phins have 5 potential teams that want to trade up. Time to get more picks and begin the dynasty,

Are we talking about men, or what. He wants to be given millions to play a sport and loved too, give me a break. Go home sweetie and count your money. I'm sure you can find a jock sniffer in the gay apple to love you. Your just an over paid field hand who makes a living with his body.

I have mixed feelings. JT was great for us but is OK now.
When he played for Washington, he made it seem as though money wasn't an issue and that he just wanted to play in his home town.
So then Parcells made him an offer and money was an issue? Strange.
JT demanded, (and deserved) a tremendous percentage of our salary cap when he was younger. So you would think after making all that money from the Dolphins in his hey day, he could have simply played along as he got older.
Posted by: Pete G | April 21, 2010 at 08:15 AM
I am so disgusted right now! The guy was a captain, a leader and gut that was still playing at a high level. Bill and Jeff and Tony are supposed to want this type of player. It's why they draft captains, specifically for those leadership qualities. What the Dolphins told Jason, over the last few months, was that he didn't have the capabilities to play the game at the level they wanted, and to the level that they thought the OLB they are going to draft would be able to play it next season.
I sure hop Bill is right on this??!!! All I can think about is JT flying around Vernon and blowing up Henne!!!
I AM DISGUSTED!!!!
Posted by: Angry Fin Fan | April 21, 2010 at 08:16 AM
Mando,
I bashed you yesterday for the article that seemed one side slanted Agent diatribe from the JT camp.
Today you have presented both sides of the story. I applaud the effort.
The fins make too much of a deal, "tipping their hand" before the draft. Come on Trifecta, even with JT signed we all know you need to draft 1 or even 2 OLB. The rest of the league knows... so not signing JT should have been decided a month ago. Not wait till the draft.
Trifecta are now going to have to double draft OLB and not go Safety First. Damn it!
Posted by: Waterboy | April 21, 2010 at 08:18 AM
The Dolphins treated Taylor like crap? I don't think so. They offered him a contract in November and he turned it down. This is after his dancing queen stint and running off to Washington. Taylor has always wanted things his way or the highway; well guess what, he got the highway. Taylor was a good DE at one point but he is old and slow now. The Jets want him to get our playbook, not because he is a great DE. They are already calling him a pass rush specialist because he can't cover anyone and he sucks against the run. This will be great when the Dolphins run straight at him and Ronnie Brown leaves him grasping for shoestrings.
GO PHINS~!

Jets win fins lose.
Another example of the fins loosing a good player and "0" in return. A lot of that going on lately. Poor management in that respect.

Dear Mr. Salguero
The Buddy Ryan Pena Colada song
I was tired of Vernon Gholston We'd been together too long
Like a worn-out recording Of a favorite song
So while Vernon Gholston lay there sleeping I read the paper in bed
And in the personal columns There was this letter I read
"If you like Dancing with the stars And getting sacks in the rain
If you're not into yoga If you only have half a brain
If you'd like making love at midnight In the dunes of New Jersey
Then I'm the love that you've looked for Write to me and escape."

I was upset at JT yesterday and felt that he shouldve signed anywhere except NY, but there were no other takers and you really cant blame the guy for wanting to play. It is CLEAR to me Parcells is an egotistical SOB and he should have respected JT a bit more. JT even said that if he had ANY offer from the Dolphins, he probably wouldve have stayed.
BOTTOM LINE:
JT showed he is TOTAL class by addressing the local media here and explaining to the fans why he had to go, instead of bolting in the night, never to be heard from again.
GOOD LUCK JT, Thanks for the memories. I'll be rooting for you personally, but not for your team. Youre a class act.
And Parcells... Youre an ASS act !!

49ers agreed to terms with OLB Travis LaBoy on a one-year, $1.6 million contract.
Looks like the Fins are drafting 2 OLB.

Bad move BP and company....bad move.....no draftee will produce what JT will the next 2 years. He would have given his soul for the Fins the last two years of his career....no we have to see him in PUKE GREEN! Disgrace!!!!!!
Posted by: Ricanphin | April 21, 2010 at 08:26 AM
Lets be clear, Parcells did not 'let' Taylor go to the Jets, Taylor chose to go to the Jets. There is a big difference.
Still say that he will be a non-factor. I also see the Jets taking a step backwards this year.
Posted by: The Judge | April 21, 2010 at 08:27 AM
What is this "I guess I'm old school" BS? Isn't anyone reading what Mando has written? The Dolphins (Parcells) did make him an offer IN NOVEMBER OF 2009! But JT tells us that he is "old school." PLEASE! He is as culpable as the Dolphins are in letting the negotiations with his camp go for not. He's OUT OF HERE! And he is joining the J-E-T-S! COME ON PEOPLE! Get a grip. Let's move on and be realistic about a 35 year old linebacker with declining skills. I like where this team is going. Did we also forget about JT's Dancing With the Stars? He started this friction with management when he decided he wanted to be a MOVIE STAR. Well, I guess we know what Hollywood thinks of him. He's still playing football, at least one more year. Oh, yeah, and do you think that Jets are going to give him his TEN million dollar bonus for year two? WAKE UP!

ODINSEYE, ALOCO, NJ and THE REST OF TAYLOR's BASHERS:
HE WANTS TO PLAY. HE DIDN't THROW US UNDER THE BUS.
HE WAS THE BIGGEST JETS HATER AND WANTED TO PLAY SO BAD THAT HE PUT HIS FOOT IN HIS MOUTH.
SWALLOWED HIS PRIDE TO PLAY FOR A TEAM THAT HE HATED FOR 13 YEARS.
HE's WAY MORE LOYAL TO THE FINS THAN ANY OF YOU ARE.
YOU GUY's ARE ONLY LOYAL WHEN THE FINS WIN.
WHEN "WE" LOSE MOST OF YOU HAVE NOTHING BUT BAD THINGS TO SAY.
YOU WISH BAD ON THIS GUY OR THAT GUY. EVERYONE FROM BILL DOWN TO THE PUNTER and WATEWR BOY SUCKS.
SORRY I CAN't DO THAT I'm A FIN FOR LIFE.
THERE's NO FLIP FLOPPING.
I HAVE NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT ANYTHING THE FINS DO.OR THE PLAYERS ON THE TEAM NOW OR IN THE PAST.
ODINSEYE:
I'm NOT GOING TO ROUTE FOR A JET I WANT TO SEE ALL DOLPHINS DO WELL.
EVEN IF THAT's AGINST US.
I'll TAKE 1 LOSS TO SEE HIM DO WHAT I SAID BEFORE.
BILL PARCELLS MUST BE A REPUBLICAN.
"RESPECT ME" BUT I DON't HAVE TO RESPECT YOU TYPE.
BUT BP IS A FIN AND HE RUNS IT THE WAY HE CHOOSE AND HE PUT OUR TEAM IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.
I WAS NEVER BIG ON TED GINN BUT I WAS UP HERE SAYING I HOPE HE DOES BETTER. I HOPE THE LIGHT COMES ON.
I'm LOYAL TO WHAT I'm LOYAL TO.
MY FAITH, FAM, FRIENDS, COUNTRY, AND TEAM.
IN THAT ORDER.

JT is an attention craving old man,
"no draftee will produce what JT will the next 2 years."
actually thats the problem... Any OLB drafted in the first 3 rounds has the potential to produce much more than 36 year old JT coming off a shoulder surgery
Posted by: carlito from golfito | April 21, 2010 at 08:29 AM
JT is acting like a receiver primo donna is what I got from Mando's article.
Past Accomplishments do not entitle you to anything! Jt WAS great, and WAS recognized for being great when he had the youth and skills. One day he will be in HOF. That does not require others to bow down to what you used to do.
JT Welcome to the real world. Where everday people get promoted, and paid according to their production this year. They also get fired or laidoff as the production declines.
Get your BIG EGO in check. Dolfans and Dolphins organization do not owe you anything. They paid you when you produced, gave you the accolades, and the love you needed. Then YOU left to dance and Washington.
Posted by: Orlando in Orlando | April 21, 2010 at 08:29 AM
Here is the problem with JT, he says himself that he wants to do it like the JJ and Wanstache years... Does anybody else not see a problem with this????? That makes me want to pull my hair out!!!! The Dolphins are finally getting out of the hole that those regimes dug for them and JT still dreaming of the old days when he was king in town and the fins suck azzzzz
Posted by: carlito from golfito | April 21, 2010 at 08:32 AM
I don't claim to be an expert on football and player negotiations but this is pretty self evident: The Dolphins needed a Jason Taylor, now they have let him go to the team I loath most in the NFL. Now they are in desparate need of both a Safety, a NT, and thanks to some prima donna in the front office with a power trip ego, we need an OLB as well!!! I don't get it, you have a devoted premier athletic player in your lap wanting nothing but to play football at a PRO BOWL level for you and you let him go because you think you can find a better OLB in this years draft, good luck with that!! Oh but wait,, at the same time, you were willing to sign a 35 year old NT who will not be able to play until week 9, no offense to Mr. Ferguson as you are a fine athlete yourself, but I'm just trying to rationalize some of the decisions made! I really just don't understand the thought process of the front office? Who is running this train wreck, REX RYAN??!! JT, nothing but love for you, I will proudly wear my Aqua marine #99 jersey showing my respect for you as the Iconic DOLPHIN Legend you will always be,, Best wishes, Oh yeah, I will not be wearing a Green& White # 99 in this lifetime however!
Oh and on the Marshall siging, good move he is a Stud receiver, but you still don't have a WR that is a legit deep threat, especially after giving away Ginn for a 5th round pick?? The only guy on your team with any real speed, is dealt for a 5th rounder? Cameron was a maroon for drafting him at #1, but I think letting him go for a 5th rounder was just as dumbfounding, maybe that's where he should have been drafted in the first place!

Jason Taylor is a New York Jet... cue the Cam Cameron Voice over.
Posted by: Waterboy | April 21, 2010 at 08:37 AM
This is getting old my friends. The way I see it is they both made business decisions. However, what JT did is the equivalent of going to work for a boss that just slapped your mother (to us the equivalent in $$ is probably 250,000?? LOL). He is filthy rich and one of the great things you can do when you are filthy rich, if you are truly loyal, is say hell no to the Jets. Treated poorly? Give me a break! That sounds like his agent talking. All he is after is the fat commission he is due. So his agent will stir crap up until your ears bleed, feeding you all the things that you have heard so you can all eat it up; and you did. He, by the way, also pushed Taylor to make a business decision. In my view, Parcels wanted to keep it as informal as possible. I am not suggesting he was right, but when Taylor wanted to handle it with his agent, obviously the price tag would go up. The Dolphins made a business decision just as Taylor did; nothing more, nothing less. We, the fans, make different decisions. You can side with the team that you have your loyalty to, or side with someone that is willing to work for the man that slapped his mom. I for one hate the Jets; and Jason Taylor is a Jet. So Fxck him too!
Posted by: Fxck the wets! | April 21, 2010 at 08:38 AM
First off, I have always been a huge Taylor fan. Can't/won't say anything negative about him as a player. But I don't like the way this whole thing is being spun by the media. Now granted, we are really only hearing one side of the story -- Taylor's side -- so there's not much else for the media to run with. But it bothers me how the Dolphins are being made to look like the bad guys here. Of course, this works fine for Taylor. It's best for him if he leaves here with the Dolphins the bad guys and he can come back to live here in a year (because it won't be 2) and still have everyone love him. He wants to have his cake and eat it too. But I'm sorry. You can't up and leave for your most hated rival and retain all the love you had from the fans. I know he says this isn't about the money, but lets be honest. SOME team would have retained his services after the draft. Maybe not for as much as the Jets offered, but if money didn't matter than what difference would it have made. Is there really only ONE team in the whole NFL that thinks he has value? (And if that's the case, then maybe it's not as great a loss as the media is making it out to be?)So he says it's not about money -- it's about knowing you're wanted. Well, I don't know how to break it to you, but New York fans aren't exactly jumping up and down about the arrival of Jason Taylor. Sure, they're thrilled that they have stolen a Dolphin icon and crushed the hearts of Dolphans, but Jets fans aren't stupid. Well, they are stupid, but they don't forget too easy. They all know about all the things Taylor said about them. And who would be thrilled about a player who is coming to a team and not excited about it. Do you think Jets fans appreciate any of this talk about Taylor always having Miami in his heart? If Taylor is so selfless, if playing in Miami meant so much to him, he could have respected the strategy of the team and waited until after the draft. But like a lot of great players he has an ego. He wanted it HIS way. The trifecta also have egos, but they really don't care what people say about them. They don't care if they are liked, or feel wanted. They are running a football operation and all they really care about is winning games. I know that matters to Taylor. But he also cares about his image. Going to a media hub like New York will offer him lots of opportunities for that too. You think being on a weekly ESPN show about the Jets is gonna bother him? Like I said, I'm never gonna hate JT. I won't boo him. But I'm not gonna be so quick to swallow his spin on this.
Posted by: Bruce | April 21, 2010 at 08:39 AM
JT is out of Miami because of JT and it is that simple. He turned down an extension from the Dolphins as he continues to walk to the beat of his own drummer. The contract situation is just like his opting to dance with the stars instead of attending OTAs and mini-camps. JT does not want to be a team player or teammate he wants special treatment like he was given under JJ and Wanny. Well JT when you ignore your boss bad things happen.
JT thanks for your days in a Dolphins' uniform and I hope you like pancakes because Jake Long will have plenty for you.

Thanks for clearing up the not-being-able-to-post-yesterday Mando, it was HELL reading other posts and not being able to respond (especially with all the news).
With that said, this was horrible treatment of the Trifecta towards ANY player (let alone Jason Taylor). I don't care who it is, no one deserves to be given a post-it note, and then say "take it or leave it" without involving your agent. Is Parcells a Nazi? Did he allow the Wayne Huzienga to give him a post-it note to sign a contract (or did his agent get involved). Veteran players are not cancer, they are necessary to ANY winning football team (Saints, Colts, Vikings, any of the good teams have veterans). You CANNOT win in this league with only rookies and younger players. Experience matters. The season will prove this decision right or wrong, but from a fan's perspective, a Jason Taylor fan, and a life-long Dolphins fan, I don't like how this player was treated and he's right to go play for whomever he wants (since he wasn't wanted here).

i'm with you Oscar...B & S.
sign with the Jets or do a dancing with the stars tour? dude didn't want to wait - which is fine. but don't try to act as the career was over if he didn't sign immediately with the Jets. pass rushers don't grow on trees. someone would sign him after the draft - even if it wasn't the Fish.
doesn't do contracts during the season comment was a joke, too. he probably was thinking about how many sacks he had at the point and figured if he keeps that pace up he can get one more nice sized 2 year deal. found out he can't mess with the Tuna.
don't get me wrong I don't like how the Tuna has gone about certain things, but Taylor looks like the drama queen on this one to me.

I feel like the Dolphins messed over one of the best players to ever play for this franchise, I have watched jason taylor since he has come into the league, and he still has some gas left in the tank. But, forget about the "Football decisions" this man is above that, certain players should be treated with respect, and Jason Taylor is one of them.

Carlito good points.
I was hearing on Sedano's show some stupid conspiracy theory, that after JT didn't accept the Tuna Contract extension, he was only allowed to rush the passer 11 times in 7 games.
Why? CAM WAKE... We needed to see this guy in action and everybody here was crying for more snaps.
Also JT's shoulder gave out.
Furthermore, Roth was cut and JT handled the run better than Peezy.....

Good Luck JT.
But look at the brightside, Let the "OLD BALLS JETS" add him to their collections of old players.
Jets remind me of the Mets of 2 years ago. adding all these ancient players. They were good enough to be in first place for a while. but didnt make the playoffs that year.
Look at them now 2010. They are sitting in last place in the division.
Jets just got a little bit older, by adding JT.

To all those chumps saying Charlie Anderson is a scrub, remember a guy named Randy Starks? We he finally started he played lights out.
Anderson was decent in the time used.
Now lets see him Full Time.

JT this and JT that. Yes I am ready for this to be done. I do however think JT should be in Miami. I do not believe they will get someone in the draft that will replace JT on the outside. And last, but not least how about Parcells. Some people say JT is a baby and this and that. Look at the tuna. He offers JT a contract on a sticky note. Are you Fing Kiding me? Come on Tuna it is 2010. Funny he didn't chissel it on a stone tabelet. I am just as tired of hearing about Bill and Jeff as I am with JT. At least JT will talk to someone. I think Bill and Jeff are the two baby's in the org. and I am don't respect either one.

Breaking News, Fatcells made another ludicrous decision because of his Arogance! Do not like this guy at all. News flash, your last few teams you managed before the Dolphins did not get to the Superbowl!!!! Let Taylor, who knows most of our D inside and out go to the JETS, great idea. He would have cost us NOTHING, was the best all around OLB on the roster. This is just terrible. Oh, and before anyone bashes my comment. some one talk to C-Wake, I did personally, and got lucky to do so. He said that Taylor was one of the best teachers and mentors on the team. Helping him grow. Oopps, can't do that any more. I hope somone throws a big WAD of POOP in Fatcells face!

I can't wait to see everyones face when JT is inducted into the Hall of Fame as a New York Jet. It's bad enough that Paul Warfield in in the HOF as a Cleveland Brown and God only knows if Zack ever goes in he will probably go in as a Cowboy or a Chief.
As for our 2010 schedule. Realistically, we probably lose all eight road games and and probably two maybe three at home. At best we go 6-10 and if we're lucky, another 7-9 season. Just bad karma. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, I'm just trying to prepare myself for more disappointment. It's the only way I can make it through a full season anymore. To much disappointment over to many years.

And one other thing. I hope he stick's it up the dolphins ass on game day as well. The guy has more class than Bill and Jeff combined.

(Salguero personal opinion: Taylor simply wasn't imperative to the Dolphins. If he was 25 instead of 35, he would have become imperative. But he isn't.)
These last 2 weeks could have been settled by one short entry like Salguero wrote above. Nothing else matters. OLB was one of the biggest problems for the Dolphins last year and Taylor was playing in that position.
Time to move on.

I can't wait for the draft!

Chad... eat shyt and die

JT does not know our defense inside out. I remind you of our new D cord. Mike Nolan. He may know the people but not the system.

Earl Thomas come on down
Posted by: Waterboy | April 21, 2010 at 08:56 AM
Who cares ????
But from what you say ( fwtw), JT was happy to wait till after the draft till he saw the big contract offer, then tried to use it as leverage with the Phins.
So what.... He's 35, he wanted one last big payday.

When the deal was finally done JT has or had mixed emotions about what happen. I will always give this advice to my friends and family, and now I will pass it on to JT, If something does not feel right, its because it is probably not right. Taylor will only make a reported $1.75 million in base salary because of the leagues "final 8 restrictions". I bet that offer passed on to you (JT) looks pretty nice right about now? You were asked to to wait till after the draft and then your situation on this team would be addressed, but against your will and by the advice of your agent you went on helicopter rides in Manhattan. So now you why the Dolphins cancelled that meeting between the two, if you really wanted to stay in Miami you would have been patient, because that is the true key to success #99.

I don't believe that Parcells wanting to negotiate directly with the players while cutting out the agents will help us in dealing with future FA and agents. I have extremely disapointed in how the Phins treated Zach Thomas a couople of years back, and how they have treated JT this year to the point that I, along with my family, will not go to a single game this coming season.
