No rest when Dolphins are planning, working

I'm trying to take a day off but my phone was buzzing with a handful of texts on the Dolphins possibly making some moves in the coming hours or days. The name most prominently mentioned in the "rumors" is Ronnie Brown.

Not a surprise. But I assure you, nothing is happening right now.

Funny how the Justin Smiley trade talk has died down.

That doesn't mean something won't happen. As I wrote in my column for The Miami Herald print edition, the coming week will be a busy one indeed for the Dolphins. Come to think of it, it might be the most busy week of roster activity in team history.

Check out the reasons I say that.

Last week was also quite a blast as the Dolphins added wide receiver Brandon Marshall. It's a good thing when the Dolphins make a move that have ripple effects throughout the league.

Adding Marshall resonated throughout the AFC East, including in New York where Darrelle Revis plays. Revis is the best cornerback in the NFL right now, just slightly better than Nmandi Asomugha. If you read this blog or follow me on twitter you know that Marshall reacted to playing Revis twice a year, asking "Where is Revis Island?"

Well, Revis also has thoughts on Marshall.

"It really doesn’t matter to me," Revis said when asked his reaction of Marshall coming to the AFC East. "You see it, people text you, people tweet you, so it’s well-known what’s out there. It’s just another thing where a big-time receiver is in the AFC East. It’s good for [the Dolphins]. They needed a big-time receiver and I get to play against him twice.

So does Revis relish playing Marshall twice a year?

"I love competition," he said. "That’s what I do, I compete no matter who steps up and no matter who comes into this division.’’

NJ welcome back. i dont think it hurt to find out we had a sellout season and $ to do Marshall, what about ronnie say u?

Joe, please check the grammar, could hardly read that post buddy

Let's go FINS!!!!

Jersey how are Giants and Jets fans making fun of you about Marshalls off field issues? Did you ask the Giants fans how they would have won a superbowl without the gun toteing thug Buress? Did you ask the Jets fans how they feel about Edwards and Cromarties off field issues and why they're not worried about that? Do they seriously think LT is going to be the answer as a replacement to Jones? How about the Giants fans and asking them why they made Rolle the highest paid safety in NFL history when he ranked near the bottom of the league in almost every important stat a safety can have? All good questions I believe and I hope you gave it back to them, or at least slashed their tires on the way out of the gym.

Harricane, yeah I know, I wasn't saying to get rid of BM in 3 years...I was saying it would be as stupid to do that as it would to rid of Ronnie ;)

Hey, its Friday, good beer and great phins news can make you make a few writing mistakes but heh, its all good from here

Or was it Saturday LOL, the deal is, I see good things coming from the dolphins finally going down this year

You're killin' me Joe, it's Saturday. You must have tied a good one on last night

On to ginn. It was best that ginn was traded for ginn's sanity and all dolphin fans sanity. i would have liked to see ginn with marshall on board because he would have been open long on bombs alot . Marshall being double teamed would've done that. That being said , i think hartline will turn out to be one of the top # 2 wr's in the entire NFL.

Aloco, Will Allen is our best CB. Berger is a valuable backup that can play three different line positions and Cobbs is a playmaking monster. Your crappy list is pretty crappy :)

ALoco, just like Big Ben I walked out with my penis out of my pants...so my love life is flourishing, thank you...how's Mama M??

k, its fun to watch some of these posts, so many comments, so many wonderful ideas, wonder what will really go down. I see real good things so far hapening though this last couple of days, its exciting to be a dol FAN again and come out of the shadows, its been a bit un-nerving some things in recent past

what is this low talk of pat cobbs? he is awesome

Hey Cobbs, sees some times awesome but then tends to choke, not sure why he is nt consistant, anyone know?

cobbs behind polite? come on man !

BOBBYD12, ( .........................MY PANTS ) .

I hope Armando is right and this is an exciting week with lots of moves and things happening...Whatever Parcells plan is, he is really on top of his game this year

nj u may have been gone 4 awhile....but, what happened to smiley? i thought we cut him? he is back?

Fake . The only person hiding under a rock around here is you . You're the one hiding under my name or other names with my name in it . P-U-S-S-Y !!. LOL ! . Grow a pair and show yourself otherwise go crawl back under the rock you came from.

Isn't this the point of this blog, to give your opinions? I just think that Ronnie doesn't have much trade value by himself, you think elsewise, that's fine. What merits anything that Brown has done in this league that makes you think he has such high trade value?

lol, I think he has to be on target now or it gets tougher for him, lol (parcell)

Guys, ever try Costa Rican food? awesome, yuca and shrimp bigger than Australia, now thats a shrimp in the barbie those guys put out

Boxgirl... your statement...

i ager w/ you but to try your luck for a good trade when it comes to r. brown is nuts ,if brown only 7 games a year ,it's better than any draft you can come up with .he's an elite player ,no question .

Once again... holds no water. You say we can never find another Ronnie Brown in the draft... where the hell do you think Ronnie Brown came from... Mars?... No... he was drafted by this very team. And.. you say he is an elite player and would be one even if only playing 7 games... Really? Who gets to play the other 9? And if you took Ronnie Brown and placed him up against the rest of the league's RB's where do you think he falls? Think he is elite? Adrian Peterson is "Elite"...Chris Johnson is "Elite" Michael Turner is "Elite" Steven Jackson is "Elite".... Ronnie Brown is "Good" but injury prone.
Look I like the kid too... but he walks next year because he will never get the money in Miami he will get from another club in FA. Don't believe me... why are Dansby and Marshall in Miami????

Joe, Cobbs is a change of pace back who also plays as a flyer on special teams. He dissapears because he's not on the field for a bunch of plays. He will never be an every down back but every team has a guy like this. Make no mistake about it when he comes in on third downs, or for punts and kicks, the guy is money. He always makes the best of every opportunity he is given and is an awesome team first guy. The coaching staff and his teammates love him for very good reasons.

NyScot, the only thing i can answer to your thing about get rid of Ronnie and draft a guy that can play 16 games..and that is as good as a runner as Ronnie....I have to say "how do you or any of know that any new draftee or Ronnie replacement won't get hurt themselves? We all just don't know the future, that is why I say why not give ronnie another shot at getting a full season in with us. Because if he does play a full season for us this year I guarantee it will be a great one...he's go a lot to prove brotha.

NY Scott. i gave it to them and then some. I mentioned all the things you said and threw in L Taylor to all the giant fans. It was all in good fun because i also had mentioned marshalls problems to them before the trade. It's good old fashion ribbing among friends , members and clients.

"LOL. Miami is putting out a feeler on ginn and now all of a sudden miami is getting Marshall."

"I knew wilson would be back. Miami has enough holes to fill."

"Brandon Marshall is going to seattle !!! He 's there today to iron out a contact extension before the trade can be made. ENOUGH WITH BRANDON MARSHALL !!! HE'S NOT COMING HERE !!!"

"Dansby WILL be a Giant!!!!!Count on it!!!!!"

"Ginn ISN'T goin anywhere"

Harricane , sorry to get back to you late. i'm working and catching up on comments. I think smiley will be used on draft day to trade up or aquire a pick from a team that couldn't get a guard they wanted early in the draft.

Ronnie Brown is gonna walk next year, he woulda walked this year if there was a CBA...So we should get NOTHING for him??? That is what alot of u are saying...it don't make sense

Anybody want some crow?

Ny Scott , slash their tires ?? I own the gym and we have camara's . LOL !!

Cowkilla, I agree that Ronnie would have a great year this year, especially if he can stay healthy. But the guy is almost splitting time with Ricky and he's still getting injured. That just scares me. And no there's no way of telling if a new guy will get hurt as well but in my opinion there's already a history with Ronnie so the chances of him getting hurt over a rookie who has never been injured during his college days is greater. Here's the scenario some of you are suggesting.

Keep Ronnie this year to have a great season knowing very well that we will not be in the superbowl and then let him walk at the end of the year for no compenstation.

Otherwise you're suggesting keeping him this season in the hopes he stays healthy and then sign him, at an old age for RBs, to a hefty salary increase at another 4 to 6 years when his contract comes up.

It just doesn't make sense to me when looking at the big picture of building this team to contend for a SB in 2012 and beyond. But it's all good as there seems to be two sides to this thing. We'll all just have to agree to disagree and see what happens.

Maybe I should STFU and stop acting like I know everything?

Jersey, I would've loved to see their faces when you mentioned LT the crackhead! But I know it's all in fun and was totally kidding about the tire slashing thing. Good job man.

Aloco. I undestand that, the draft isn't an exact science, and I think you are saying that we have a proven player, why trade him for an unknown. My thought is that I think that the offense is going to be a little different this year. More passing, without the need for so much wildcat. I think in the draft, we have to address tight end. I like dorin Dickerson out of Pitt. He is undersized, but could be used a lot like Dallas Clark, in the Slot, and down the seams. He is as fast as a Wr. strong as a bull, and had a 43' vertical leap(will make up for lack of size) I also think that Pat White can be used in wildcat situations, and that Lex Hilliard will be the starter by the end of next season. Look at the teams in the Super Bowl, their backs were not game breaking backs(Reggie Bush is just a wr. out of the backfield) These were backs that ran well inside. Blocked, and caught screens, check downs. All things Lex does well.

I'm a fair person bro, I totally see what you are saying, and your points are valid. so I ask you, sorry if I missed it in another blog, I ask you what RB would you grab in this draft?

I think there is no RB in the Draft better than roniie. That said I understand the necessity to get something of valur for him. If Brandon Marshall (healthy) goes for 2 second rounders, a injured Ronnie goes for nothing better than a 3rd this year and maybe a 5th next.

Lex Hilliard runs to upright. His pad level is too high and he doesn't use leverage. He's not an answer long term.

Also, the impact of Brandon Marshall can't be understated. Our defensive backs will be better as a result of practicing against him too. I think Vontae Davis posesses as much talent as any CB in the game. I think he will be the best in a few years. He picked the hell out of Tom Brady and Randy Moss twice last year and he hit's like an anvil.

Morgan will be the number one pick if we don't trade down.

Yes, I am a pus"y who uses everyones name, thats cause i have no opinion and my girl is in costa rica suking a cabana boys dik

Harricane. i'm torn about trading brown. The man is a elite talent and would love to see hom now with marshall taking away the 8 men a box. However he always hurt. I don't think there's much trade value in him right now and he does have to sign his tender. i wouldn't trade him for less that a 2nd ,

OH, you own the gym?! Than that would've been even better. It would've been all over the news. "Dolphin fan/gym owner fed up with Jets fans, slashes own clients tires".

If the Fins have confidence in Hilliard why not pull the trigger???

like ginn, i lay in a fetal position...

Hilliard is not the answer.. Poor body control and not powerfull. He breaks tackles and runs hard but lacks vision and insticts.

So NJ, when do they pull the trigger on Jerry Manuel??? Does he make May???

LMAO @ NY SCOTT.. The look when i mentioned crackhead taylor was priceless. Yhey forgot about that . i would've been all over the news and have been endeared my many dolphin fans forever but i would've been in jail and lost my business. LOL !!! Anything for the dolphins. :)

Aloco are you drunk?! This is year 3 of a rebuild that started after Cameron, Mueller,Saban,Wanny, and Spielman decimated this team with giving away draft picks for crappy players and using the only picks we had left to draft even crappier players. Which is why barely any of them are playing on the team today.

And that took over ten years to do. It took them over ten years to make this team the laughing stock of the NFL and bring us to a 1-15 record. And NOW you're going to complain it's taking too long? Where were you 10 years ago?

So in your mind, how long do you think it should take to rebuild the worst franchise in the NFL? Keep in mind it took the Buccaneers 20 years and the Browns and Lions are still at it. Be reasonable guy. And also what's with all the caps?

I think all the players Miami are very good players but improvements can certainly be made, I think all players can be great under the right scenario, perhaps what we have now is a winning team already but if you see some go, the leadership was somehow now thinking it was. We need to trust their decisions and if not replace them. I think it looks pretty good right now what I am am now seeing now but was honestly not too happy before but I am just a fan.

Personally, I think we need a better quarterback, I am not sold on our defense, and the offensive line can certainly take one or 2 more great lineman. I think Brown is good, we can do better, safety? Do we really have any? Maybe the one they are trying to bring up Freeman maybe some day soon or maybe close to getting there. Line backers, Chowder(not mispelled)doubtful, like his spunk though, I agree with the team view, big mean and nasty, we need more of those. I really like the idea of having one more good receiver to compensate for poor QB play LOL

He breaks tackles and runs hard but is not powerful???

Boobyd12. what's up pal ??. Did you take a beating on marshall ?. I caught up on all the blogs but not the comments section. Manuel won't make it out of may. Watch out for bobby valentine. LOL !!

Lex is a big back, they usually run a little upright.

Brown makes the wildcat and when healthy is the most dynamic back in the game. When he injured his knee a couple years ago when Cam was here he was the best in the game. Better than Peterson too.

The wildcat ripped teams apart when we ran it with Ronnie, and averaged 5+ yards per carry on the way to making us one of the best running teams in the game. I just don't see how you duplicate that production. I don't know who in the draft is capable of that.

We may not need it anymore since we now have more offensive balance, but I would hate to lose that advantage.

A good pass-catching TE is better than draft Dez Bryant at 12. Let's hope we trade down and make this one hell of a draft.
