Jason Taylor played 13 years for the Miami Dolphins.
So, darn it, he's going to speak to the South Florida media first before he goes to New York for a press conference.
I'm told Taylor will conduct a press conference at his foundation's headquarters at 8:30 p.m. I will be there.
By the way, 790 The Ticket here in Miami is quoting "a source," as saying Taylor had a contract from both the Dolphins and Jets on the table ...
... And that Taylor picked the Jets.
Sorry, fellas, not true.
Where do people come up with this stuff?
Anyway, what would you ask JT tonight?

Risky, your argument has no weight. They said after the draft they would talk...he was impatient and signed with the jets before hand. He is a multimillionare...what was the rush? If the Jets sign a OLB/DE and he outplays JT in camp, can he not be cut? His Job still technically is not safe. What is the rush?

They'll never love him like we do - and unfortunately father time has caught up with JT. Wish we could have signed him - presence alone w/ Wake, Dansby, Crowder alone was worth havin' him here - let alone he's a Ring of Honor / Hall of Famer for us. Sad day...kills me he's goin' up there to that miserable team...That D just got better...
Best of luck JT - thx for all you gave - and I know you gave all. Hope the ugly, unceremonious way this occurred doesn't let you forget how beloved you are/were...painful day for us fans - why players will NEVER know that pain...
Can't wait for Jake to school you on 9/26 :)

Posted by: Liepers Fork, TN | April 20, 2010 at 08:05 PM
How DEEP do you think the Dolphins can get?, I mean can they get 9 or 10 in?
Posted by: Hot AZZ ashley | April 20, 2010 at 08:06 PM
I said it before and I'll say it again...who cares!! J. Taylor is for J. Taylor...and it's about time some of you learned that. What did you want the Dolphins to do...did you want them to say to Taylor...we know your over the hill but we'll keep you on the roster and prevent another younger player to join the team? If Taylor is so great a player still...how come the only team that wanted him were the punk Jets? Did you ask yourself that?
All hese months...a free agent...and no other team steps up...come on guys...use your heads, not your hearts...the end come in many ways...some stand on their feet and go out like a man...and some on their knee's...when Taylor gets off his knee's...he'll find out that the Jets money wasn't worth it....just like Wasington's money.
Posted by: Fishypete | April 20, 2010 at 08:07 PM
Guys, you are not fair to Jason Taylor, then again, Jason Taylor is not fair to us. Jason Taylor has been a defensive God to us, even last year. He is a great player and will make great plays.
With that said, how the hell can he go to the JETS? Our biggest rival? That is a slap in the face that forces Dolphin fans to hate him rather than hate why he isn't here.
What is wrong with this front office, knowing we need help at OLB and not sign Jason Taylor to at least a 1 year deal? Shame on Parcells and Sparano, shame on Ireland. This front office disappoints me to the deepest depths.

Cuban Menace, 2 primetime games in the first FOUR weeks not 3
Posted by: TedGinnFTW | April 20, 2010 at 08:10 PM
as much as I hate Jason Taylor for being a traitor and signing with the Jets, part of me still wishes he would wake up tomorrow morning and realize that he can't do this and walk away from the Jets.
Posted by: Tikkanen | April 20, 2010 at 08:10 PM
How do you know they wouldn't have Brian Rogers? We will never know, b/c he didn't WAIT, like he was asked too. Zach Thomas is the one my heart goes out to. Sign him to retire as a dolphin.

Bobbyd, Why Not? the dolphins could trade Ronnie Brown before the draft. I mean it could happen.

Ask JT if he plans on blowing fireman Ed while Rex gives it to him in the dumper!! Screw him! Tell him to go pound sand!!!
Posted by: Ebread | April 20, 2010 at 08:30 PM
JT obviously has no idea what this rivalry was all about. He is just like every other athlete going after the $$$. He turned down the same offer from the Tuna late last season, and that was the end of JT, as he sucked the rest of the year. If it was enough dough to leave Washington, it is good enough to stay away from the Stinkin JETS. Anywhere but there man! Forget the press conference you dancing fool, catch the next plane to Jersey!

WINS 11 WHAT ?
Posted by: DONKEY | April 20, 2010 at 08:32 PM
Forget Taylor. He made a conscious decision to visit with / sign for the Jets. He and his agent tried to force the front office's hand and they called his bluff.
Even if he went to the Patriots I'd wish him the best and mean it. But going to the Jets is unforgivable. Spare us the crocodile tears, you hypocritical mercenary piece of crap. I hope one disappointing season under Fat Rex was worth your legacy in South Florida.
Go waltz with your new friends in New Jersey - we're done with you. Happy trails, cupcake.
Posted by: Brass Monkey | April 20, 2010 at 08:32 PM
Liepers, Taylor is gone, they are bringing in an OLB with that first pick, I'm totally convinced now...whether it be Morgan, Kindle, Graham, Hughes...that first pick is an OLB
Posted by: bobbyd12 | April 20, 2010 at 08:32 PM
i'll say it again....
8 MILLI GUARANTEED TO GERBIL!!!!!!
and they cant swing 2-4 mil to keep one of the greatest dolphins in history for another year or two....
especially because there is NO ONE legit and ready to step in for either OLB spot.
peezy and roth are both gone, and now JT. wake, anderson, moses, and future draft pics ALL would benefit from have a vet like that.... i am livid! this makes no sense.....
Posted by: trifecta down a notch (or three) | April 20, 2010 at 08:32 PM
bobby, I can appreciate that I guess. I don't actually have to sit in the hot stadium. You have to admit though, it does take away part of our home field advantage.
Posted by: Doof | April 20, 2010 at 08:32 PM
It so cute seeing all this wonderful sentimental love for JT.... Just 2 years ago... when he was "Yankin it" with the stars... everyone was like..."See Ya!" now when he is willing to go play for our nemesis, you losers are ready to dawn a Jests Jerseys and lament in front of the stadium beating yourselves with whips until our Management (who is without a doubt looking out for our best interest) brings him back.. Crybabies.
JT is his own man... and not waiting until after the draft is HIS problem. Any of the top three OLB (Which we were going to draft one whether he stayed or not) are a better prospect for Miami. All three of the top draft OLB's are starters... not developmental players. This team is doing what is best for THE TEAM... FOOLS. And you are worried about JT? What about Miami? Think having him is going to get us the Lombardi Trophy?... It hasn't for almost 14 years... whats the hold up? Let JT do what is best for him, or at least what he THINKS is best for him... because it damn sure isn't going to NEW York. I was over JT 4 years ago when I started seeing the pout faces on the sideline... win or lose JT is all about JT. He will end up with a team at 9-7 who despises him and watching the already younger Dolphins disappear into the distance on their way to the best team they have had since the 70's.
Oh what a difference a week makes. This team did what only a handful of teams have done for their fans. They went out and brought in the best of the best... they have paid them well and we are now stacked with some of the best talent in the NFL for more then 5 years. And now I read shyt like "I Hate Parcells" ... because of JT??? REALLY??? You hate the guys who just brought in the best 2 free agents in the entire NFL? So that OUR TEAM has a chance at winning it all. What a bunch of selfish crybaby losers. Smarten up or toughen up people. The Era of JT was over when he left for Washington... if you did not realize that you are missing what is going on around you and not knowing what is going on around you is being a "FOOL". If JT could have brought us to a SB... he would have... but he didn't... and that's that....its time to get young and move on... not old and soft. Whining about a player who CHOSE TO LEAVE.

JT IS 38 YEARS OLD WHO CAN'T JUMP .
Posted by: DONKEY | April 20, 2010 at 08:36 PM
Doof, I look at it this way, we should be a good enough team to win no matter what time we play!!! Don't need no crutches anymore

Does anyone know if yaylors press conference is on Tv?
Posted by: Dolfanatic0626 | April 20, 2010 at 08:38 PM
Pricemaster is a classy guy who loves men , what's wrong w/that .
Posted by: omar | April 20, 2010 at 08:38 PM
Bobbyd12, So your saying theres NO CHANCE the dolphins will trade Ronnie Brown? Man i here it over and over about Ronnie Brown being traded.
Posted by: Liepers Fork, TN | April 20, 2010 at 08:40 PM
r.brown is the star of this team , if they trade hime say goodby to the season .
Posted by: omar | April 20, 2010 at 08:41 PM
JT was pushed out of here. I have to say that this is the first move that the new trifecta has made that I think we are gonna rue the day. Not as bad as passing on Brees twice but that home opener is going to be a spectacle. The good news is that we could be 1-1 or 2-0 and the jets very damn well be 0-2. I mean was he really not serviceable anymore? I thik they are gonna trade down and pick up a 2nd rounder and take OLB's with their first 2 picks. At least I am praying that's what they do. It's the only thing that will make this less logical.
Posted by: DJ | April 20, 2010 at 08:42 PM
Ask him how he feels about Dirty Dancin with Stinky San-cheese??
Posted by: Bob | April 20, 2010 at 08:43 PM
Liepers, I didn't say no chance on Brown, I said no way on Spiller...Like Bill just said in his book he just wrote LOL, we WILL draft a starting OLB who WILL start for us this season....
Posted by: bobbyd12 | April 20, 2010 at 08:43 PM
lol, come on Bobby. If you prefer not to melt and have heat stroke to go to the game I can understand that but a competitive advantage is a competitive advantage. With this being a game of inches, a team being acclimated to the weather of their home city is a pretty big deal.
Now all that being said, I've never been to a game in Miami and know nothing about having to sit in that heat and you're not the first fan I've heard express these sentiments so maybe Ross IS in the right in pushing to nix the early games.
Posted by: Doof | April 20, 2010 at 08:48 PM
Ask Bill, actually I'm sorta shocked at how many fans have been on this blog that seem to understand this move...yes, there are a few unknowledgeable idiots who rather have nostalgia then a winning team...lot of people seem to be hating Taylor which I don't get either...The man does alot for the South Florida Community and should be welcomed back with great applause when he is done with the Jests...Whatever, I agree to cut the umbilical cord and start a new era...a winning ERA
