Trade down, Dolphins, please trade down!

My column for tomorrow's paper is available to you today for the discounted price of, well, free. It is after all, the Internet. It is, after all, my column so you get what you pay for.

But I digress.

The column talks about trading down, specifically the Dolphins trading down. It gives you the teams most likely to enter into a trade scenario with Miami Thursday night. So check it out.

Why did I write about this?

Because I know for a fact teams selecting later in this draft are calling other teams in the 10-12 slots to weigh the possibility of exchanging places and picks and perhaps even players.

The Dolphins are in the market for talent, whichever way it comes, as long as it is younger talent.

Menace , IMO , the dolphins will draft a front seven player with OLB being by first option . It will come down to Morgan , Mclain , kindle with williams an outside shot. if they trade down hughes and graham come in play. who knows , they could come in play at 12 but i doubt it.

THERES NO QUESTION DA DOLPHINS ARE TRADING DOWN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!WE GONNA GET A SECOND ROUNDER 4 SURE !!!!!!!WE GOT ALOT OF NEEDS DA MORE PICKS DA MORE WE CANT FILL !!!!!!!!!LETS JUST HOPE WE CANT STEAL SOME GEMS IN DIS DRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IM SORRY TO JT U DA MAN !!!!!!BUT WE GOT TO MOVE ON !!!!!!!!!!!

This could get ugly.... actually I'am sure it will...........

LMAO @ Bobbyd12, EXACTLY !! that's why i specified " COUPLE OF ROUNDS " > I'm not stupid , you know how much beer cost at a stadium. By the way , there's a couple og real good strip bars by the stadium. we can hit that after the game, I'll get the first round there too. It's a little cheaper. :)

WHY I FEEL SOME ONE IS TALKING TO HIMSELF ?

It will get ugly....got that right Cuban

If you guys think your going on a trim hunt that nite your sorely mistaken. I'll be with you guys.

GOOD NIGHT GUYS .

Men , I'm out for now . Who wants to take over the live blog from me ?? . :)

My hope is that Green Bay trades with us and we give then our first and fourth in exchange for their first second snd third. That is 1278 points on the draft board we give up in exchange for 1265 in return.
I`d even say we won that trade with less points.

Bobbyd you were kill me with the whole D-dense this morning

Guy's Ashleys come home.....but the good news is she brought me back my favorite Alco-bev, bless her heart... NJ I got the blog from here on out(At least for the next 40 minutes that is)

Standley, yea I hope I ok with him now...it was an interesting conversation to say the least :)

Jeremy, What the Duece are you talking about?????

Mando...dont worry about haters...most of these imbeciles couldnt do their own jobs justice let alone criticise the only REAL beat writer that we have....If it wasnt for you, we fans in other countries would be in deep shyte...BIG THANKYOU...

Now BOOTANG...great mock...but...a cornerbcak as your 2nd???...we have too many now..??...Hughes before GRAHAM...??...Hughes could be there at 30 really...trade down and get BOTH.Why another WR.???...Turner and White are sitting there as projects, we dont need another...your running back is TINY...5'9" and isnt dynamic. There are much much better players available even at that point.TE..we can do better.Im shocked that you think we can fill FS via FA...what if we dont get Atogwe?...they absolutely WILL pick up MAJOR WRIGHT or MORGAN BURNETT as soon as they can...

Good work and some interesting stuff...but we can do a lot better mate...Great work Bootang..!!!!

Bootang25, love the work you did on the draft, now let me tell you why everything you did is WRONG, Bigafly!!! ROFL Bigafly, tell us what u agree with, u only would have had to write one line instead of the "novel"

The Dolphins will pick at the #12 spot. They wanted to trade out of the #1 overall pick two years ago, but that didn't happen.

Teams just don't like to give up draft picks to trade up. How'd that work out for Jacksonville a few years ago when they traded their whole draft to move up for two different picks?

I think the Dolphins should do the opposite. They should work out some package deal with Ronnie Brown to trade up and get Eric Berry.

Bobbyd12 any thoughts on which Lb we should go after. You mentioned Kindle, what do you think of Highs or weatherspoon?

Your right Bobby...ha ha...but I do like the Hughes pick...just a little later...He did a really good job Bootang did...

Bobby have u done your selections??

Cuban, like I said earlier, it would be great if Dallas trades up to 13 so they can grab Thomas and then we trade with Philly and they grab Thomas instead...Parcells can then call Jerry Jones and say, NOW I forgive u for the video

Odin...and Rob in OC....selections????

D-dense...Weatherspoon out of picture, Hughes would be great but like BigAFly just said, lower, on a trade down not 12

Guys the Menace must bid you all a goodnite and have a "PHINTASTIC" nite, till tommarrow have a great nite..

BigaFly, if we don't trade down my first two picks are Kindle and Cam Thomas 3rd rd...Yes, I believe he will be there..of course we trade down it's a whole different animal...I'm heading down the Stadium for the party tommorow nite so I'm hoping it turns into a happy night!!!

Armando, trading down makes a lot of sense, but if the impact player is there at #12-a difference maker, the Dolphins may have to stay.
Such an impact player could be E. Thomas, who you need in a pass-happy division. Another would
be Eric Berry-and he may fall if there is as big a run on DTs and OTs in the first 11 picks as I think there will be. Spiller is a game changer.
Miami needs two things: someone to get after the
passer and sack him and someone who knocks down passes and intercepts them. Everything else is secondary.

Weatherspoons stats are pretty awesome though 103 tackles a bit smaller than Kindle. Thought Hughs could help as well.

Now I'm sick!!! Sanchez and Marino signing autographs together at the Verizon Pre Draft Party

I would be stoked with Brandon GRAHAM and another LB in Hughes, SAPP or Odrick....if we get 2 quality linebackers, im happy....id even draft SPIKES...slow but a hammer.!

For what it's worth, Mayock says it's Williams, Morgan or Thomas...way to go out on a limb Mike!!

Out for now later

There's speculation that Dallas might want to trade up to get Earl Thomas. The talk is the Dolphins might get back Dallas' first and second and take Dan williams if he's still there at 27. Would probably piss San Diego off because I'm sure they would love to land Williams at 28. Just speculation at this point.

I'm saying Earl Thomas.

More teams have won the Super Bowl lately with great Safety play then with great DT play.

Bob Sanders.
Troy P
D. Sharper

Hmmm. Miami and Philadelphia flipping 12 and 24, with Miami also picking up Philly's first of two in the second round, then taking Ryan Matthews.

That's brilliant.

At least, that's what I was thinking when I read it in Peter King's column nearly a half day prior to it being copied here (without crediting Mr. King).

Who copied it MiamiVoice? I made reference to it earlier today but I made sure it was credited to King.

Bootang,

Im late to the party but I like your draft, especially Hughes. I think Hughes is our 1st pick tomorrow night. Im not too keen on a few of the other picks but nice work!

stay with the 12th pick. dolphins might be one of those teams talking with pittsburgh.

Hello Menace... What I`m talking about is fair compensation for trading down.
It`s said that the Packers want to trade up and we may be their trade partner. The draft points exchanged should be relatively even correct? Well as i stated our first is worth 1200 points and our fourth is 78 points.
Green Bays first is worth 740 points, their second 350 and third 155. Thats 1240 points. Thats the deuce:) . And I really would like it.

WE WILL NOT GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT A STRONGER O.

WE MUST DRAFT DEZ BRYANT TO HAVE A GREAT CHANCE.

EARL THOMAS IS OK BUT HE's NOT A GAME CHANGER AND WE WILL WASTE A PICK IF WE PICKED HIM.

I KNOW WE ARE IN NEED OF A FREE SAFTY BUT HE's NOT THE GUY.

I HOPE WE CAN INPROVE THE TEAM THE RIGHT WAY.

1st DEZ BRYANT him TEAMED WITH MARSHALL AND BESS WILL GIVE US A REAL SHOT.OR KINDLE IF WE HAVE A SHOT OF MAKING A DEAL FOR RONNIE. RICKY CAN CARRY THE LOAD

2nd MARSHALL OR TRADE RONNIE AND GET BENN IF THIS HAPPENS THEN I'm ALL FOR GETTING KINDLE WITH THE #1 PICK.

3rd JEROME MURPHY A HARD HITTING CB WITH RANGE TO PLAY SAFETY. IF THAT FAILS HE WOULD BE A GREAT NICKEL WHEN ALLEN'S GONE. OR BRANDON LANG 6'4 260 DE WE CAN TRY TO CONVERT TO LB.

4th TORELL TROUP 6'3 310 OR LINVAL JOSEPH 6'6 325 NTs WHO HOPEFULLY CAN HOLD THE POINT OF ATTACK.

5th LARRY HART 6'1 240 or CAMERON SHIFFIELD 6'3 260 I REALLY LIKE BOTH FOR 5th ROUNDERS.

6th KERRY MEIER WR 6'2 220 GREAT PRODUCTION OR JACOBY FORD A SPEEDSTER THAT CAN HELP IN THE RETURN GAME.

7th I REALLY DON'T CARE.

I really doubt we get Dan Williams , just look at this free agency , everybody said we lacked playmakers and we went out and got 2 who are at the top of their respective positions , my guess if we don't trade down it's Thomas of we do then Ryan mathews could be an interesting choice ,

Jeremy, The "Cuban menace" has left, but I'am here to learn football, Iam a lil confused about what your saying. does it involve matrix thinkng or what?

Yaya,

It was very tough to slot guys in certain rounds that fit what the Trifecta likes to do, that offer good value, and could have a role on this team. I tried to find guys who loved football, that meant a lot of research. A lot of them offer great special team value as well. I think that a few of these guys, if they ended up on this team would be fan favorites as well. Like I said, if some of them end up as Dolphins, I won't be happy for the sake of being able to say I told you so, but for the sake that we got a good, quality football player.

jUSTIN,do you like to post in captal letters because you lack manlihood?just wondering.xxxx

See you guys tommarrow, peace and love xxxxxxx

I really believe miami will trade out of this spot. Should it not happen I think the go Sergio Kindle (or the best safety available). Its going to be exciting stuff...and with the #12 pick the Miami Dolphins.......

ASHLEY

ARE YOU STILL THERE?

I can't wait to hear the criticism.

1. Brandon Graham OLB/Michigan

I'm sure he'll be there, if not I look for Dan Williams NT/Tenn or Sergio Kindle OLB/Texas

2. Glad we have Marshall but this blank spot sucks.

3. Reshad Jones FS/Georgia

I think Clemons is the real deal, but this guys too good to pass on. If he's not there I'm hoping Jimmy Graham TE/Miami slips or it's Torrell Troupe NT/Central FLA.

4. Ricky Sapp OLB/Clemson

I know what you're thinking, Sapp slips to round 4? Yeah. If not Jacoby Ford WR/Clemson or Brandon Spikes ILB/Florida.

5. Brandon Carter G/Texas Tech.

Love the guys hair and makeup. If he's gone it's LeGarrette Blount RB/Oregon

6A-Ekom Udofia NT/Stanford

6B-Terrell Hudgins WR/Elon.

This guy will be converted into a pass catching TE in the NFL.

6C-Mike Tepper OT/California

7A-Trindon Holliday WR/KR/PR/LSU

7B-Brandon Banks KR/PR/Kan.St.

yeas ,i am here

Odin,

I like it for the most part. Many of the names you mentioned were names I had in play. I really like Brandon Carter, he reminds me of Incognito quite a bit.

I'm A MAN IN EVERY SINCE OF THE WORD.

A STRONG CARING MAN WITH A LARGE....EGO.

I WRITE THIS WAY BECAUSE IT's MY CHOICE.

JUST LIKE YOU LIKE TO STAND OUT I DO ALSO.

I WAS THE FIRST PERSON UP HERE DOING IT THEN MY MINI MEES STARTED TO COPY.

SO I CHANGED UP A LITTLE BY PUTTING SPACES IN.

I JUST LIKE TO BE DIFFERENT.

IS THERE SOMETHING WRONG WITH GOING AGINST THE GRAIN.

Bootang,

Thanks. I watched a lot of film on Carter, I love the way he plays. Strong and Nasty.
I read that he actually went to counceling to get help for his temper and his image.

I don't know how old you are, but he reminds me of Conrad Dobler the old St. Louis Cardinal.

who's many mees ?

if they trade down i hope its for OLB
1 S Weatherspoon
2 B Graham
3 S Kindle

I still think the Phins should draft # 12 Dez Bryant or trade down to 15 and get M Iupati

JUSTIN,

I don't care how you type. Your mock looks good, all except Jerome Murphy in the 3rd.

With three good corners already on board, why take on a project like that? Have you checked out Rehad Jones FS/Georgia? He should be available in the 3rd as well.

Derrick Morgan!

Odin,

Conrad Dobler was one of the dirtiest, meanest, nastiest SOB's there was. Though I obviously never saw him live, I have seen plenty of clips of him. My dad loves football as much as I do, and he likes old school guys. He told me quite a few stories about Dobler. I want my linemen to be nasty, ornery, in your face for 60 minute types. Brandon Carter fits that mold.

I agree completely with Armando. If you go and look at the hundreds of mock drafts out there, they have the Dolphins picking guys that you'll see get picked in the 20s in other mocks.

A lot ultimately depends on who exactly is available when the Dolphins are on the clock, but if they could trade down from their spot and gain a 2nd round pick it'd likely be a good move.

1. Derrick Morgan
3. Major Wright
4. Terrell Troupe

Odinseye , i like your draft but sapp won't be there in the 4th round,

« 1 2 3 4 5 6 »
