The news first: I have six eight undrafted free agent names that sources say have agreed to join the Dolphins.
The players are:
Nevada DB Jonathon Amaya: 6-0, 203 pounds. Ran a 4.51 at the Combine. Benched 225 pounds only eight times.
Maryland DT Travis Ivey: 6-4, 325 pounds. No Combine results. Had 25 tackles including one sack in 2009.
Duke DL Vince Oghobaase: 6-5, 303 pounds. Ran a 5.48 at the Combine. Benched 225 pounds 27 times.
Penn State CB A.J. Wallace: 6-1, 201 pounds. No Combine results. Four career interceptions, three of those his senior year in 2009.
San Diego State WR Roberto Wallace: 6-4, 225 pounds. No Combine results. Caught 36 passes for 463 yards and three TDs in 2009 and that was his best of three seasons.
Michigan State DB Ross Weaver: 6-1, 203 pounds. No Combine results. Missed all of 2006 season. One career interception.
[Update: Florida International offensive lineman Andy Leavine has been signed as an undrafted free agent, according to my friends at www.draftday.dk. Leavine is listed at 6-5 and 292 pounds. He benched 225 pounds 31 times at his Pro Day.
Also, this morning I've learned Fresno State WR Marlon Moore is on Miami's undrafted FA list. Moore is 6-foot and 190 pounds. He had 15 catches for 317 yards and three TDs for the Bulldogs in 2009.]
Secondly, let me tell you what I thought of the Dolphins draft. Actually, it's late, I've slept five hours in two days and the wife is waiting for me so if you really want to know what I think click here.
Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Bill Ruger.
Thank you for your insight earlier, you seem to have a voice of reason. Should we be forced to show Id to write on the blog? Are we not all adults. C'mon, nobody is going to win an award for most knowledgeable Phin fan. These are all opinions, so take them as such. I'm sure if any of us had a half a clue as to what it takes to run this team, we would be on the payroll. Since we are not, leave the blog open to debate, not first grade name calling.

Can any of those guys return punts?

Yes, Nolan Carroll and Reshad Jones can both return.

Hey Machupichu go f**k yourself. Now Bobbyd12 would probably say to just ignore you but I no longer can. I'm a regular poster here but will now hide behind a fake name when I address you, just like you do when you act like 10 different people agreeing with one another.
You are a clueless, dickless, mouth breathing, oxygen thief. Your creepy obsession with Bobbyd12 and NJ is bordering on pshychotic. You need help, serious f***ing help.
I'm at the point where I'm so creeped out and pissed off at you that I would like to find you, make sure that you're not hurting little kids and neighborhood pets, and then just f***ing beat the living s**t out of you. Man what a grand day that would be you friggin douchebag.
You are a stalker. Do you hear that? A STALKER! And don't hide behind that same old crazy stalker code "it's the internet so it's not real". These are real people you stupid a**hole, this is real life!
I hope you start ripping into me because I WILL make it my personal mission to destroy you. You know what, f**k that, it is now my personal mission to discover who you are and weed you out. You're done buddy, you've messed with the wrong motherf***er.
Leave this blog now and all is forgotten. Stay, continue to obsess over anyone in here and it's over for you. This is your first and last warning.

allegedly so also can a few of the FA's, plus some buddy of Bess's, Grice-Mullen, who we picked up from the CFL (this offseason, I reckon)
Posted by: The Seer | April 25, 2010 at 04:33 PM
Armando, we have another stalker in here and I know you probably haven't seen this going down but he's making it REALLY uncomfortable for your regular posters. Is he going to be banned or do we need to deal with him ourselves?

Hi Ask Bill!! Hopefully won't be interrupted by the fake Indian that loves me.....I loved the Draft. Parcells went in with a plan and, knew who he wanted and what they were looking for and got it...To get the negative out of the way, watching Gronkowski sign with the Pats just killed me. I would have loved to have gotten him. I hope with a full year at David Martins old position he will improve. Odrick will anchor this line, just like Grove is doing for the next ten years for offense. Misi needs to be lined up in a proper position for him to succeed. He has some weaknesses that I have seen on film, but if they get him into a good scheme he will be fine..Eeds I really like, he can cover a TE and play. I think it will take him a year to mature and learn but he should push Crowder, reminds me of another possible Zack??....Jerry I absolutlely LOVE this pick. He can play both tackle and guard, if someone such as Carey gets hurt, he can move over without a loss of production. We have a PHYSICAL offensive line that teams will not enjoy. Nolan May be the steal of the draft to me. Sitting out a year with an injury hurt his value but he has good instincts and plays hard. Jones was a great value where we got him, little worried about the same negative as Mays, goes for hit instead of ball. McCoy is another guy with a non-stop motor...Like Eeds will have to mature cut should have an immediate impact on special team. Ivey coulda gone in RD 3 or 4 but fell to undrafted. He really intrigues me because of size and Parcells found a NT on the cheap. Ogabasse is another one BUT has bad habits of taking plays off. This team will have a testy training camp fer sure because I don't think anyones job is safe besides Dansby and Starks. All around solid draft in my book
Posted by: bobbyd12 | April 25, 2010 at 04:52 PM
Maybe one of these DT free agent signings might pan out.
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 25, 2010 at 04:52 PM
Why does everybody get so mad over names on a football blog? Thats all it is? Lets talk football...
Who is everyones favorite draft pick?
I think for me it is Reshad Jones or Jerry from a value perspective. But the pick I am most interested in is Koa Misi... I honestly don't know anything about him, but I really hope he can turn into a good player... I've heard he is a tuff, high motor guy that projects at strong side backer, but thats about it...
I also like the position versatility of our draft picks.

Just killing time Po. Hey, what do you think of Edds? The more I hear, the more I like. Maybe Edds was the steal.

Next year's draft is going to be the Glamorous/sexy one a lot of the folks here wanted this year’s to be.
We'll take the best players available at ANY position.
They will call it the gravy draft.

Bigger faster Zach Thomas I think.

WE AS FANS SHOULD RESPECT EACH OTHER.
NOT AGREEING IS ONE THING BUT INSULTS ARE NOT NEEDED.
WE CAN AGREE WITH ONE ANOTHER OR AGREE TO DISAGREE.
IF YOU're NOT WILLING TO MEET AND DISCUSS WHAT YOU FEEL OR FIGHT IT OUT THEN LET IT GO.
I HATE (AND HATE IS A STRONG WORD) THIS DRAF'T CLASS. MAYBE THE WORST ONE IN HISTORY.
IF YOU ARE ONE WHO LIKE IT OK.
BUT CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT YOU LIKE ABOUT IT.
MATTER OF FACT I BEG YOU TO PULL ME OVER TO YOUR SIDE BECAUSE I DON't SEE IT.
EVEN TRADING BACK WAS A GREAT IDEA BUT TO GET WHAT WE GOT WITH SOME OF THE PLAYERS THAT WAS STILL ON THE BOARD.
I CAN't SEE IT.
PEACE & LOVE

For the most part these are all high character leader types, the kind you build a TEAM with.
Sometimes the best TEAMS are not the sexist ones.
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 25, 2010 at 05:04 PM
Eeds reminds me of Zach alot,..
Posted by: bobbyd12 | April 25, 2010 at 05:06 PM
I've also noticed that alot of the players we've just drafted can play multiple positions which is a great thing.
With the additions of Marshall,Dansby,Nolan and some really good, potential draft picks, there's no reason why we cant win at least 10 games.
Roll on Sept 12th (Bills)

Good point Mark.
Flexibility adds to depth.
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 25, 2010 at 05:09 PM
Carlito,
My favorite pick was AJ Edds. If I could go back and change ONE thing from last season, I would change the way we got KILLED by opposing TEs and giving up huge plays. I believe the stat was we gave up 17 plays of 40 yards or more. I believe Karlos Dansby is one of the top 3 coverage ILBs in football, and Edds was the best coverage LB in football period. Noone wanted an impact FS as much as me (Reshad Jones is our SS in another year or two) but combine Mike Nolan's very aggressive packages and Dansby/Edds combo on passing downs, our defense got instantly better. The FS position can be hidden a little bit because of what we have done, whereas last year that was our most glaring weakness.
Posted by: Bootang25 | April 25, 2010 at 05:10 PM
This might be the draft we added folks like JT and ZT.
Players that will be playmakers on D for years.
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 25, 2010 at 05:12 PM
"The FS position can be hidden a little bit because of what we have done"
Great point!
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 25, 2010 at 05:14 PM
Scheme versatility and team captains was the common theme among damn near every pick. Mike Nolan runs only about 12 different looks throughout the game, depending on the situation, and we have given him many pieces to work with. While most of these guys won't be starters next year, they will find niches (I believe we are one of the best teams in football as far as player roles go) and more importantly, contribute on ST. If you listen to the interviews that they had with these kids, all of them cited hard work, teamwork, and leadership. I love the pull from the last few days, and don't forget Tim Dobbins provides valuable depth as well.
Posted by: Bootang25 | April 25, 2010 at 05:14 PM
I believe Edds had 5 interceptions last season. Wow. For a MLB,that is awesome. Some Cornerbacks and Safeties dont even have that.
Is it ok to say i'm still alittle concerned with the FS position? I really hope Jones impresses Sparano and ends up being our starter
Posted by: Mark | April 25, 2010 at 05:14 PM
Edds can make a huge impact quickly as a nickel LB.
Posted by: Po White Trash | April 25, 2010 at 05:16 PM
WELL I LOOKED AT ODRICK's HIGHLIGHTS ON THE MAIN PAGE.
GREAT HIGHLIGHTS.
TEMPLE AND THE REST OF THE NO NAME TEAMS HE PLAYED IN THAT HIGHLIGHT HE LOOKS LIKE A HALL OF FAMER.

Po,
I know that statement isn't probably the best thing, but I would liken it to taking an average looking woman and getting her hair and nails done, tons of makeup. On the surface, not as bad as it really is.

who ever reads BOBBYD12 POST AT 2.24 ,HE WILL FIGURE OUT HE'S NJ PHIN EASILY , YOU DUMB ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Posted by: ALoco | April 25, 2010 at 05:18 PM
It doesn't matter nearly as much, FS, as it did last year. Our coverage LBs were Ayodele and Crowder, any chance Wilson had of succeding (he had very little) was now made impossible. The upgrade to Dansby/Edds as well as more athleticism at FS, whther it be Culver, Clemons or Jones makes us much better in defending the passing game.
Posted by: Bootang25 | April 25, 2010 at 05:19 PM
I love our draft, and looking at Edds highlights on you tube he could be great!
I would have liked a pass catching tight end and I'm a littled dissapointed we didint go after hernandez or dickson but i like what they've done.

Mark,
I thought Baltimore did pretty well with their 1st 4. I don't know enough about their "other" selections to be critical but it sure seemed like some good players were there in those later rounds. i have just resigned myself to the fact that Ozzie and crew will almost always have a good draft.
I REALLY liked what Phili did with their draft. I know they absolutely must have been thinking the same way I was in moving clear up from #24 to #13 to get OLB/DE Brandon Graham in the 1st. I think that he will end up being one of the best players in this whole draft barring injury imho. I also thought what they did after the BG pick was great. I think their draft will bare a lot of fruit for them. Thier picks included:
TE Clay Harbor
ILB/OLB Jamar Cheney
WR Riley Cooper
DT Jeff Owens (The 44 reps of 225lbs at the combine guy the Fins brought in for a predraft visit)
OLB Ricky Sapp
All of these guys can play and should make their roster!
Seattle seemed to get good value and added a couple nice rushers in trades. The odd odd thing was he reunited with some of his old players through the draft. TE McCoy was rated much higher than a late round guy and RB Lendale White is teamed up with him again through a trade.
Detroit ended up with the Beast in a Boy named Suh and followed it with great Value in RB J. Best (If you compare it to where Spiller went).
Amari Spivey will help their secondary. Tim Toone has return ability.
Cheers,

THE ORANGE MEN, MINN, E.ILL, TEMP,
THAT's SOME REAL TOUGH TEAMS HE WENT UP AGINST.
ALL THOSE TEAMS COMBINED FOR HOW MANY WINS OR DRAFT PICKS FOR THAT MATTER.
WE GOT THE BEST OF THE WORST.

Po White,
I had a rough few days as I had a family tragedy, so it kind of put a damper on the draft. I am glad to be on today and chatting with you guys, and your comment about her not running off with the neighbor made me laugh out loud. Thank you

Justin Credible how can you call this our worst draft in history? Did you not see any of our drafts from 1999-2007?
all of them crap!
Posted by: You Can't Tuna Piano | April 25, 2010 at 05:25 PM
I think a lot of people haven't put a lot of thought into how and why the draft unfolded the way it did. The decision was made to trade down w/SD. We were at 12 and they were at 28. We dropped 16 spots, to get that 2nd round pic back.
Earl Thomas (S) #14
Derrick Morgan (DE) #16
Mike Lupati (OG) #17
Sean Weatherspoon (LB) #19
Dez Bryant (WR) #26
Dan Williams (DT) #26
All these guys were gone when we picked at 28. But that was the price we paid for moving down.

Ok fellas,
Who do you think will win the Superbowl next year? (without being biased)
I think the Ravens have a great chance. They've had a great Defense for the last few years and now throw in Boldin and a great running game on Offense,i think they could make some noise
Posted by: Mark | April 25, 2010 at 05:27 PM
Justin,
I understand your point, but there are plenty of guys from small schools and unheralded programs who are major football players. You don't getrecruited to Penn St by sucking. I laugh when people bring up busts. Jamarcus Russell for example. The Raiders get killed for picking him, well how many spots after them do you think he would have fell? The answer, not many. If we didn't take Odrick, how many spots do you think he would have fallen? To the 4th round. He would have been gone not too much longer ha we not chosen him.

Thanks for the comment guys. Appreciate it. Football is something not very important in the grand scheme of things, but is one of the things that fans love and use to help in life. The Dolphins are the team I feel most passionate about, and am glad I have all this new info to digest and process. Definitely takes my mind off of things.

According to Mando and Darlington there was two players they targeted at 28, Dan Williams or Odrick...as far as the 12 spot was concerned Mando tweeted draft night that they had only one targeted player, which was McClain...as soon as he was gone we traded down

As for early Super Bowl favorite, I like the aforementioned Baltimore Ravens, and this will probably get me called many names, I think the Dallas Cowboys have a stacked roster. I mentioned prior to the draft that Dez Bryant, if he fell, would fall to a good team that made the playoffs, that he wouldn't have to be the focal point. In that offense, if I'm the defensive coordinator I am worried about Miles Austin, Jason Witten, and then the trio of backs before you ever get to Bryant. Then you still have to worry about Roy Williams and M Bennett. I know LT is a concern, but Doug Free played well for them. Both those teams have a LOT of talent on both sides of the ball. So those two teams are my early favorites.

bobby,
Interesting to hear that McClain was the only guy we would have been interested in if available. Do you think if he was available,we would have picked him? I know how much Parcells wanted to trade down and grab a 2nd rounder though
Posted by: Mark | April 25, 2010 at 05:39 PM
Mark and everyone else,
who are the teams you like as it stands today to make the playoffs in the AFC. The division winners I like are New England, Baltimore, Indianapolis (about 4 years in a row I have picked them not to win the division, so maybe by picking them, they won't) and San Diego. The two wild card teams will be the Miami Dolohins, and the Houston Texans. My sleeper team is Oakland, if they get ANY play at the QB spot, they have a great roster.
