Undrafted free agents plus draft breakdown

The news first: I have six eight undrafted free agent names that sources say have agreed to join the Dolphins.

The players are:

Nevada DB Jonathon Amaya: 6-0, 203 pounds. Ran a 4.51 at the Combine. Benched 225 pounds only eight times.

Maryland DT Travis Ivey: 6-4, 325 pounds. No Combine results. Had 25 tackles including one sack in 2009.

Duke DL Vince Oghobaase: 6-5, 303 pounds. Ran a 5.48 at the Combine. Benched 225 pounds 27 times.

Penn State CB A.J. Wallace: 6-1, 201 pounds. No Combine results. Four career interceptions, three of those his senior year in 2009.

San Diego State WR Roberto Wallace: 6-4, 225 pounds. No Combine results. Caught 36 passes for 463 yards and three TDs in 2009 and that was his best of three seasons.

Michigan State DB Ross Weaver: 6-1, 203 pounds. No Combine results. Missed all of 2006 season. One career interception.

[Update: Florida International offensive lineman Andy Leavine has been signed as an undrafted free agent, according to my friends at www.draftday.dk. Leavine is listed at 6-5 and 292 pounds. He benched 225 pounds 31 times at his Pro Day.

Also, this morning I've learned Fresno State WR Marlon Moore is on Miami's undrafted FA list. Moore is 6-foot and 190 pounds. He had 15 catches for 317 yards and three TDs for the Bulldogs in 2009.]

Secondly, let me tell you what I thought of the Dolphins draft. Actually, it's late, I've slept five hours in two days and the wife is waiting for me so if you really want to know what I think click here.

Have a wonderful Sunday everyone!

Yeah and had big plans for 2012 too.

All through November and December we're going to being playing important games; important to us and them.

I expect to enter the 4th qtr in all of those games 31-28.

That's right we're going to be playing in high scoring important games late in the season and we're gonna win some of those games and it will be cool.

Mark, I'm only telling u guys what Mando tweeted that night..considering they grabbed EEds I wouldn't have been shocked if they took McClain...At least I'm happy he went to Oakland, wish Gronkowski went somewhere else too!

Divisional winners include:

Wild Cards:

Texans had a killer draft so did Tampa.

What the trade did was give us more options on players that we could choose. Without that second round pick, I don't think that we would have had the luxury of choosing a guard in the third round. Jerry might turn out to be the best player in this draft class(my opinion). What the trifecta was able to do was add depth on defense, as well as competition for a few key spots. If you noticed, many of the better teams did the same things(different postions, same idea) The make-up of this team will be a whole lot different from last years. So holes that we thought didn't get filled, might be masked by different scheme, better coaching, and experience.

Texas will break out soon.

The AFC East is gonna be a dogfight for years to come...Not a NE fan but with all them picks they are always able to reload...Don't like Spikes though, he fell like a rock for a reason

Sorry to hear that you were/are having some personal issues. Keep your head up bud.

Just do things like Fins blog rap to keep you mind off the other stuff.

As soon as the Patriots picked Gronkowski,i knew you'd be ragin.

Maybe when he finally breaks the starting lineup.,Brady will already be retired LOL

i agree with a previous post that next years draft or maybe the one after that will be the sexy. When a team is full of top talent like Dallas then you can afford to go for people like Dez Bryant. He will bring a lot to their team.

We needed to solidify our defence which means drafting hard working, high motor players, non-flashy players.

When we start winning 10 games a season consistently then we can go for the CJ Spiller types. PS I think the bills made a boob with that pick.

Houston is a team that is scary good. Had they not burned so many people the last few years by underachieving, they would probaby be much higher.

Thanks a lot man. Of all our picks, which one was your fav? Also, if Brandon Graham wasn't a Dolphin, PHI is arguably the best spot for him. He stays at his natural 4-3 DE, in an aggressive defense that just wants you to find and destroy the QB. He is my early pick for DROY, with Dez Bryant my pick for OROY.

Darryl, seen Cuban?? Ever since I told Ashley that I thought he was done with that marriage thing, 3 were enough, he said he had to do damage control and thanked me...LOL

Heard some good things about Jerry. But I'm confused. 1st, I hear he's more comfortable at RG. Then I hear he likes LG. What's the real story? Tackles and guards are always better at one side or the other.

Rob in OC, I agree with Bootang25, Graham went to the perfect spot, he will thrive there

That's a tough call. I am so glad that they didn't have to make it. Sometimes the greatest gifts are unanswered prayers.

I love the fact they regained a 2nd round pick and got Dobbins from a possible bust and injury standpoint alone.

I do wish Dan Williams would have been there just to see who they would have picked... I think maybe Dan Williams as then they could leave Starks at end.

That's my take.

I will stick to my guns about BG ending up being a super player but at least I was able to see that the Fins liked the multiple picks more than Brandon Graham. Both Phili and the Chargers obviously had mad crushes on Brandon Graham and Ryan Mathews respectively.

We can ALL now sit back and see what kind of player McClain is as a Raider.

Bobbyd12. The Cuban is MIA. Haven't heard from him. I would like to let The Menace know that if he must use the 15 bucks to buy his lady flowers he can. If the situation has regressed past the point of flowers, and The Menace needs a lawyer, He can put the money toward the legal fees. I'll be gone Menace, but I'm here for ya buddy!

The one I feel most solid about right now is G John Jerry. I had tried to always include space for him in about the 3rd or 4rth round range in my mocks pre draft.

I just feel he is such a solid player it will do us proud on our OL. He seems to absorb bull rushes and holds his mud very well. I feel he will be the type of player that is hard to "walk back" into the Henne's face. At his weight and size pulling may be a bit more problematic but he is a heck of a mauler.

Ditto on the DROY. I will differ the OROY to either Spiller or Best.

I agree, the Phili Eagles DEF is slanted at absolutely getting after the QB and filled with Blitzes. It will be a happy home for him.

If he plays as well as I think he will then more people may eventually say they wished he would have been a Fin.

While I can't say that the Raiders are a great place to land, we will finally get to see what impact your boy McClain can have on a Pro Squad vs the NFLers.

Maybe on both accounts all things will work out for a reason... Maybe Odrick ends up being a Crusher!

I know one thing, I'm not even going to TRY to guess what the Fins are going to do in next years draft when it comes...They definitley have different thoughts!!

It's not good when on the NFL network they talk about the teams that did have a good draft, in their opinion, and the first one they mention is Miami. They feel "They didn't fill their needs."

ALoco, out of work so soon??? Not even 4 hrs..part time greeter at Wal-Mart or what??

Divisional winners include:

Dolphins (Yeah I said it!... non homer either as I have faith in some of the players we have added DANSBY, MARSHALL, JERRY. We already took the Colts and N.O. to task last year. With Nolan and a few turnovers and less injuries, we got this!... Until our foes prove otherwise)

Wild Cards:

By the way ALoco, I must apologize to you...obviously you are not the FAKE Indian... For that I deeply apologize for offending you

Rob in OC, what in ur mind made Ivey fall to undrafted... Many had him as high as 3rd round??

Based on your post at 6:06pm.

How would you have played it if you were drafting @ #12?

Levine sounds like he could be a nice depth pickup.

I was looking at the Seahawks draft. They might have put themselves in the drivers seat in the division. Okung, and Thomas in the first round. I'm sure they didn't think they would get both of those players. Carrol also drafted players he was familiar with(2 pac 10 guys, Tate Nd. and Thomas Tex) he also drafted the tight end he is familiar with, and grabbed some thunder, and lightning(White, Washington). Also the Qb. play in this division is sketchy at best. Seatlle has a tremendous home field advantage(LOUDEST stadium I've ever been in)it is difficult for experienced Qb's to play there. Let alone rookies, or jorneymen

Honestly Rob, I would have been looking to trade down no matter what...With the holes we had, getting back that 2nd was imperative...

ALoco, you know I respect you, glad u got some hours in

Reshad Jones combine bench 225lbs 24 times
Major Wright combine bench 225lbs 14 times
Reshed Jones vertical 39.5 inch
Major Wright DNK
reshed Jones 40 yd 4.52
Major Wright 40 yd 4.49
bottom line I had Jones rated higher on my draft board, stronger, hits harder makes more plays, can play in the box or center field 11ints and even more pass D. Major Wright may be a more natural FS but Jones will be better over all S IMO. Jones will be a fine SS down the road but will be a good FS as well to compliment YBell for the time being. I think getting Jones in the 5th was one of the bigger steals in the draft and will pay big for us this yr.

Darryl, Seattle had a good draft, to bad Pete Carroll is their coach..

Boobyd12 , you can't be that stupid to think that the fake indian WASN'T aloco.

Sorry , Bobbyd12

Enough, u really think so??? I looked back and it's not his style of writing at all...There is definitley more then one person on this blog being a total jack...I just wish they would get a registration system here, simple solution

You can easily throw of styles of writing on a blog. He's also Justin Incredible aka afc east champs

I am actually out of the Ivey loop as a player I have not looked into.

It's the same phenomena as why RB Blount, WR Jeremy Williams from Tulane, WR Blair White from Michigan State all went undrafted.

I NEVER found one thing that suggested any of these guys would go undrafted.

I do think that sometimes the teams just fill specific needs forst late in the draft. The logic being that EVEN IF you hit on a good player late using the BPA method, how do they make a roster stacked at that same spot?

For the life of me I have no idea why Ivey plummeted.

Look at Clausen as a prime example. He is at a position that is the single most sought after on any team. He went from being thought of as a top 10 guy to #16 in the 2nd round. That is a similar type fall as a player going from 3rd - 4rth round to undrafted imo.

Oh what we would give to find out what some of these teams are thinking.

Rashad Jones just might be the steal here...If Nolan plays like he did before he broke his leg, he can end up being our steal...

Oh man, it's already 6:30. Need to step out for a bit...later

NFL Columnist and writer for the Dallas Morning News, Rick Gosselin, gave Miami a solid B for the 2010 draft saying:

A typical Bill Parcells draft – even if he stays in the background and lets GM Jeff Ireland and coach Tony Sparano speak for the franchise. It's apparent Parcells believes championships are won in the defensive front seven.

Gosselin has been the most accurate Draft guru over the past 5 years predicting an average of 86.5 of the Top 100 prospects. This year he had the most accurate mock with 87 of his Top 100 actually being picked in the Top 100. Above Kiper, McShay, etc... If he likes our draft, it was a good draft.

I had Jones a high 2nd early 3rd and Wright I had a mid 3rd so to get Jones after we picks Jerry over Wright was awsum to watch and anybody dogging that pick do know what the hell there talking about. Jerry was the 2nd best G in the draft on many boards and we had a small need there but not any more and then to get Jones in the 5th WOW. Wright went to CHI right after the Jerry pick and I knew there were some good S still on the board but never thought Jones would fall that far when we were able to move up to get him I loved it. With the running game and Marshall on thr move up field our O will be next to unstoppable and with all the youth thrown into the D we will have a better D. Some of these rooks must bring it right away, Misi, Odrick and Jerry must come in early in the season and contribute but the others like Edds backing Dansby and Crowder, NCarroll backing Smith, Davis and WAllen, Reshad Jones giving depth at both SS and FS and maybe even cracking the starting lineup at FS at some point next yr and McCoy and Spitler projects we will hgave a better D come the start of next season.

I'm out for a while folks.

Catch you later on.

OK Guys The cuban has arrived, what's New in Phinland???

Are you people for real? I have read people lobbying or complaining about why a guy who is a registered sex offender isn't taken by the Dolphins? Hello!!! That guy was never on our board as many others that were removed as character flags. We take team captains, leaders and players. Not guys that may not be allowed in the team facility because it is within 500 yards from a school and on a college campus. Wake up numb nutz!!!

Who's the registered sex offender?

You're alive?

Rumors around here is Ashley buried you somewhere in the bavk 40.

After a lot "Of splaining" with no help from my dad(Who said "He's been married 2 times"(Jokingly) she was ready to take my service revolver and add a new opening in my body, Then I told my pops"Pops, this is serious tell her the truth and tell her you were only joking" a long story short, make up sex is great...........

Thought you packed a 9mm CM?

Is the revolver your throw down? jk

I like ur Dad Cuban...told u the make-up sex was the best...thank me later

Of course......

I'm glad to hear it. Sounds like a true "happy ending".

Tony Washington, OT of Abilene Christian is a registered sex offender who was draft eligible. He was convicted of having sex with his sister.

LOL Odin, Last time I had a "Happy Ending" was in California in "97"......

Wow, talk about keeping it in the family...
