Brandon Marshall works to be part of the team

Before I start today there is some business to conduct: First, happy Mother's Day! If you are a mom, God bless you. If you have a mom, hug her, kiss her, visit with her, call her, talk to her. She is a treasure that will not be around forever. Make the best of her time here. Secondly, this is a football blog in general and a Dolphins blog in particular. If you want to keep your comments from being deleted, please do not curse, do not attack other folks in a personal manner, and try to keep the conversation somewhat on football. You are adults and I'm going to treat you as such. Thanks.

Now to the football business.

During my trip to Haiti Saturday with folks from the Dolphins, the topic of Brandon Marshall came up.

I want to report to you that Marshall, who came to the Dolphins with a reputation as something of a problem child in Denver, has worked hard to earn the respect of his new team in the first month or so in Miami.

You will remember Marshall came into town April 14 to take a physical and sign his contract. It was a long day for him. Well, he was in the weight room, working out with his teammates early the next day. Several players noticed.

In the ensuing weeks, Vernon Carey hosted a charity golf tournament. Carey asked his teammates to support the tourney. Not all of them did. Marshall did. He showed up and mixed with several current and former Miami Dolphins players. He won guys over.

Then Ricky Williams had the premier of his Run Ricky Run documentary on Miami Beach. All Dolphins players were invited. Not all were able to show up. Marshall showed up to show his support. And yes, players noticed.

The point is Marshall has made an effort to become part of his new team. He's made an effort to show his teammates there is no sense of entitlement on his part -- particularly as it applies to Davone Bess and the possible exchange of jersey No. 15.

The issue of Marshall's number is still being resolved and not completely settled last I heard. But the new guy apparently is treading carefully so as to not step on any toes. Players are noticing.

Good thing? Certainly for team harmony and chemistry.

Thunderbolt. This is a football blog not not a JAY-Z rap video. Your analogy was way off base. Keep your analogies to he run as slow as a....that guy stinks like....

Your douche bag is to racial slur analogy is just plain ...well... stuiped

Lets stick to football

Those people who say that Bess,Cammarillo, And Heartline are the same receiver are wrong. Bess has great hands but is no good for anything but getting 7-10 yards in the middle of the field no RAC Cammarillo just runs button hooks and comeback routs 10-15 yards down field no RAC Heartline runs great crisp routs catches the ball in stride and makes things happen and actually gets rac for this reason alone Heartline will start opposite Marshall in a 2 wr set it's time to open up the passing game Bess and Cammarillo will come in on third down to get the first but if you want an offense that gets "chunk yardage" Heartline is the guy you need opposite Marshall

I have a feeling Turner is one of those players that PLAYS better than he PRACTICES?

Go Phins!

Hartline does need to work on his footwork after catching the ball a little bit... watch his highlights and he goes to the ground too often after a big catch. Dude still has a lot of heart (go figure with a name like his) and I do think he should play opposite Marshall. I will admit that along with many people on this blog, I think a speedy guy in the slot would be ideal...but definitly not necessary (especially if that guy can't catch).

Words of wisdom coming from one of our beloved special bloggers. He puts the "blo" in the word blog.

Good job Armando. Many of us agree with you on
that we should address each other w/o cursing and w/o attacking other folks because they disagree with some people. It is refreshing to see how it has been this day w/o the bs. No insults from BJ and Nobby.

Glad to see Marshall involved in the Dolphin activities and bonding with the team members.

Bess, Camarillo, and Hartline at there very best are a #2 WR. That is what my comment was about. They are not all that different on physical ability, each has their own strength. Patrick Turner offers a different skillset, that's all I was saying. And I love what Bess, Cam, and Hartline bring, I really do. My comment was not a knock on them.

BranGetterdon Marshall Is Gonna Be

The Best Miami Dolphin WR EVER

Sorry Mr Warfield

BOOM! BOOM!BOOM!

Here i go!!! Ahhh!!! the wets aint ready!

Marshall
Hartline
Bess
RGM
Turner

Works 4 Me!

Pat White has no value yet
(gotta keep him & keep the faith)

Have to Trade Thigpen prob worth a 4th rounder

Also would look at trading
Jason Allen
Camarillo

I'm sorry Home, but Whites got to go. The only reason I would keep him around now is because he has no worth yet. Long term I like Thigpen as Henne's backupm I don't see Pennington sticking around after this season.

We now have the best WR in the afc east baby, lets call him the "THE BEAST IN THE EAST" Mr. B MARSH u dig!

i think people is really under estimating how good our defense gonna be. IMO Dansby over Adele is the single best move this offseason and you'll gonna love this move.

IN THE TRI I TRUST!!!

Let's get it DOLPHANS!!!

With great coaching in mike nolan's defensive scheme, there aint no reason why our rookies shud'nt be good this season.

plus they work out and practice with dansby and crowder so they got good leadership around them. i know crowder isnt a playmaker but he's in a dolphins uniform cuz he bust his butt in practice everyday.

Bootang25, welcome back bro, and I back you 100% on your view on Turner! I said the same thing a couple weeks ago and got hated on. Turner won't be an elite WR, BUT the dude is a most def red zone threat. Teams won't be able to double team Marshall, Bess or Hartline or Cam across the middle, Turner blocking on the outside or standing in the endzone, Brown or Williams runs it in. Dang boys, we got Options this year.

As a fan I acually do care about what number Brandon Marshall will wear. I want Bess to keep 15 and BMarsh to esablish his own number. I care more about this then the players personal lives. I am just over all of the "TMZ" coverage of players. I just want to know about their football lives...sorry to vent. This blog does a good job btw. As a Dolphin and a football fan, thank you.

Bootang...nice job. I wondered what happened to Turner and Sparano fessed up. Give the kid some reps and let's see what we have. I'm curiously excited about him and the "potential" he could bring to team. It would be awesome!!!

Like all rejected people, he wants to be wanted. He must feel wanted by the Fins, team and fans.

Turner is a similar WR to Colston on the Saints
Almost Identical size and body type
Pat Turner is a Smidge Taller & Bit More Physical

If We can get that type of plat with a little more Power out of Pat Turner
Turner Will Fit In Excellent in the
2010 Miami Dolphin Air Show

Kris if its a football blog you are welcome to contribute football stuff... Otherwise you are just as guilty as the trolls who littered this blog with swearing and racial slurs forcing odinseye to write to Armando. Dont write back to me, ive read your arguements with Bobby and well at least he knows football.

Dantheman,

I think Patrick Turner offers us something that RGM does not. That being said, the great thing about our WR situation now is we can put the best guys on the field. If Turner earns a spot in our offense, great. If nit, it means someone else deserves to be there, and I like that. One of the things you hear me speak of often is scheme versatility, and I like that we have variety everywhere on our football team. It gives us options, and have shown we are able to maximize what we get out of players. A WR group of Marshall, Hartline, Bess, Cam and Turner is very hard to defend. Size, red zone targets, multiple third down options. It's amazing really how our WR group has drastically changed with the addition of one player; in all honesty our entire offense. It should be fun.

Good afternoon guys and happy Mothers day to all the Mothers out there, Good to see football talk, Iam excited at the thought of what this Offense will be like this year with a healthy Ronnie, Ricky, And the addition of Mr. Marshall, Also glad that the phins have jettison Ginn,Porter, Taylor and of course Gibril.... Lots of holes in that "D" last year, hoping there filled by Dansby and the draft picks, My thinking is They got better by dumping those guys and went Heavy defense in the draft, Also look for Mike Nolen to Vamp this defense into a Machine....

That was me

Do Not See
The Ego of the Trifecta
Cutting Pat White

No Way!

2nd Round Pick QB Pat White
At This Juncture
Has Little NFL Worth

Thigpen showed real good skills til the bonehead throw

Believe other teams would give us good value for Thigpen

Henne Pennington White

Lets Look at the Glass as Full
Henne is Our Franchise QB
Pennington Will Be More Than Ready to Go As
Back Up for 2 more years
and Pat White as #3

Can not waste a WR spot on Pat White

Thigpen is worth more than a 5th Round
What we got him for

Only Logical with Trifecta Ego Also

The Beast acquisition absolutely changed the complexion of our offense. Another aspect of our game to consider...teams are going to have nightmares.

and there's whole new defense out there...

No one is crazy about Ginn. Only his SPEED.

Why is it so hard to comprehend that Ginn befor Marshal could not get open BECAUSE they would double-team him since no one else on the team was woth the added coverage. Not advocating that he was any good.

Only stating that we need a real SPEED guy to compliment Marshall's possession style of play. Hartline will hopefully be a good WR, BUT he is not a burner that can run past the safeties from the line.

We need a burner who can play opposite Marshall

Thank you!

Dave, Ginn got open...he just dropped the ball all the time. He was statistically one of the worst in the league last year in that category.

Dave, Ginn sucked Big time..........

I think Marshall is turning over a new leaf. Go Dolphins! Anyone going up to Buffalo for week 1?

Agree need somebody to run the Go routes... But we will be ok with mid range and Poss type receivers that we have, now wen the double Marshar the go route is singled and so is the 7 to 9 yards Best type of game

I AM VERY HAPPY HOME IS TALKING FOOTBALL , I LEARN A LOT FROM HIM .

Aloco, Whats on TV tonite?????

INTO CARS, YOU NEVER HEAR THIS ABOUT A WOMAN .WHAT KIND OF CARS HOT ASHLEY LIKES ?

Not yet bobby..

Seer,

I agree, I don't really have my hopes up, I just think he is intriguing. You don't play college ball at USC or get drafted to the NFL if you don't have some legit skills. Not sure if you read both scouting reports I posted from him and Marshall, but they are nearly identical. College numbers are very similar, though Marshall had a monster final season. As a rook he only caught 20 balls in the Shanahan system, so he didn't exactly set the world on fire. With Turner it is a matter of whether or not he can reach any of his potential. For our sake, I hope he does. He could add another element to our offense.

( THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA )....MERYL STREEP AND ANNA HATHAWAY . IS A GREAT MOVIE .

Nahh gonna pass on that Aloco, I think I'll watch "Family guy" At 9......

Let's get one thing clear: Go Dolphins!

go dolphins .

ALoco, need to suprise Mama Maria and buy her the I-Pad!!! Thing is awesome, I love it

.

Dont kno y ur all talkin about mothers day gifts on a Dolphins FOOTBALL blog, but wutever floats your boat...

And good for Brandon, its nice to see he's not coming in feeling like everything will just be given to him (even tho it was even b4 he signed).

And does anyone kno if he ever made up that lunch with Henne that he had to cancel to have his first Dolphin press-conference?
