At 8:36 a.m. today, Terrell Owens tweeted the following:
"Miami bound..."
And about 10 seconds later I got a bunch of twitter followers asking if this meant Owens is going to sign with the Dolphins. From what I can see, many of Owens' own followers recognized the same possibility and asked him if he's coming to sign.
Ah, the Internet.
Anyway, I cannot confirm for you the specific reason Owens is coming to Miami. He has a place here, I know that. He often trains down here.
But I can confirm for you that T.O. is not coming to join the Dolphins, according to a club source. I think the Dolphins generally like their receiver corps now that Brandon Marshall is part of the group. And I do not see them currently adding anyone who is 36 years old and will be 37 during the season, regardless of whether he has gas in the tank or not.
Simply, I think the Dolphins don't need someone to take catches away from Marshall and Owens might either do that or be unhappy that he's not seeing enough passes his way.
Having said that, I do think Owens still can be a solid contributor for some team in the right situation.
But do I think he's "miami bound," to make the Dolphins that team and that situation?
Nope.
[Update: Owens was asked by one of his followers if he meant he's headed for Miami or the team and he replied, "city." So that should be that.]

Hope this is true would love to have him and B Marsh terrorizing Defenses LOL.

Man, how people jump to conclusions. I agree with you mando, I dont think Owens if coming to the Dolphins.
Posted by: The Cuban Assassin | May 06, 2010 at 10:49 AM
Owens would be the worst possible thing that could happen. He destroys trams from the inside out. Brandon Marshall does not need any type of negative influence. We are fine with Brandon Marshall.

Do you guys ever tweet/facebook where your going? That's all he did..
Posted by: Dolfan484 | May 06, 2010 at 11:01 AM
it really funny how everyone talk about t.o. with out any factual evidence of him being a mole on a football team!!!! everyone has their right to their opinion but with out any factual evidence its just hear say!!!! t.o. by fact is a hall of famer!!!! and all this negativity directed towards him just make him that much more popular!!!! so stop hating and leave him alone. bradon marshall needs a real role model in terms of work ethic and demeanor and thus far he has no one to direct him in miami!!!!
Posted by: wil-da-thrill | May 06, 2010 at 11:01 AM
lol i swear i was just thinkin this the other day..but with the whole parcells thing i still doubt it would happen..but honestly yu fans couldn't turn away t.o if he came..t.o has shown his maturity with buffalo they sucked he even went a whole game w/o catching a pass an didn't complain 1 time..i would love t.o in miami give him a shot..just think about this t.o brandon marshall bess R&R if that isn't a superbowl offense i dont know what is
Posted by: slick | May 06, 2010 at 11:03 AM
Bill Parcels wants no part of TO. He doesn't need any distractions.
Posted by: Rickm | May 06, 2010 at 11:03 AM
Lawrence "the snow blower " Taylor arrested for rape. I guess his mammy will want an apology too.
Posted by: Phin4Life | May 06, 2010 at 11:04 AM
Guys, read the first article in the news section of this app. With Marshall, Camarillo, Hartline, and Bess, we are still trying to fit in what could be another assest to our versitle* offense in Grice-Mullin. Adding TO would be a reach by any stance.
Posted by: Dolfan484 | May 06, 2010 at 11:08 AM
Wil
He publicly took stands against Garcia (in SF) and McNabb (In Philly). It's hardly hearsay.
But Even without the offfield stuff
We don't need him in Miami. Mando mentioned taking catches away from marshal but what about taking catches away from hartline or Bess.
Posted by: Jordi | May 06, 2010 at 11:09 AM
A couple of years ago I could have seen it happening. However, the Dolphins want to go young and right now have a pretty decent receiving corps. Marshall is a stud and the only concern becomes if he's hurt. The rest of the guys compliment him well. TO would just take balls away from other players and wouldn't be content to share with Marshall and the rest.
All that said, it really does frighten to think of what it would look like of Marshall were to be injured or suspended.
Posted by: FinFanRod | May 06, 2010 at 11:10 AM
We have a 50m reciever there is no way this happens. But its fun to think of the posibilities
Posted by: ericatl | May 06, 2010 at 11:14 AM
exactly. if Marshall is injured, then all that off-season work will be for nothing. But with T.O. to take his place (if he's injured), we could still be a playoff winning team
Posted by: C-Bad | May 06, 2010 at 11:19 AM
To say that Marshall needs a work ethic roll model and that roll model should be TO has to be one of the stupidest fcking statements I've ever heard in my life.
Posted by: pistol | May 06, 2010 at 11:21 AM
Anyone who thinks T.O. would be a good fit in Miami are morons. T.O. is the kind of guy that has to have all the attention on himself. We saw that in Philly when they were winning football games and he was still complaining. Why was he complaining? Because McNabb was getting more attention. Same thing happened in Dallas when Romo and Witten got all the attention. The only reason he was on good behavior in Buffalo was because there were no other players good enough to get more attention then T.O.
I do believe T.O. is all about winning, but he is also all about winning while needing all the attention. In Miami, he would not get that because Marshall will get all the attention. If there ever was a prima donna wide receiver, HE IS IT! This guy is starving for attention which is not what Miami is looking for.
Posted by: SoCalFinsFan | May 06, 2010 at 11:26 AM
why you guys feel we are set at receiver just because of the brandon marshall upgrade is just plain stupidity..our passing game was 1 of the worst last year & although brandon is good he can't turn that around by himself..cam is good but he's not an every down receiver he's slow and can't stretch the field everytime he makes a catch he is immediately tackled..hartline is good i lik him but you can't tell me he's a solid every down #2 receiver..an bess is strictly a slot receiver..that's not good enough to win a superbowl..t.o is much more mature an has proven it and is a far better receiver than all of them
Posted by: slick | May 06, 2010 at 11:27 AM
The guy went to Buffalo last year because no one else wanted him. Now Buffalo doesn't want him. That's pretty bad.
Posted by: pistol | May 06, 2010 at 11:29 AM
Lawerence Taylor arrested and charged with raping a 15 year old girl...some guys never grow up... If this is true what a sad day for the NFL
Posted by: bobbyd12 | May 06, 2010 at 11:31 AM
Can you please tell me how t.o is craving for attention..yes he has a past just like im sure you me brandon marshall an everyone else has..t.o has matured and i belive he has changed..but i see yu failed to mention t.o in buffalo..he had way below a typical average season that he is accustomed 2..he touched the ball just 61 times..55 catches 829 yards and 5 touchdowns..all of us here know t.o is capable of producing way more than that..An his whole time in buffalo he didn't complain not once
Posted by: slick | May 06, 2010 at 11:35 AM
Slick, is he really much more mature than all of them? Really?
Posted by: pistol | May 06, 2010 at 11:35 AM
If it were true and TO can grow up for one season wed be a Superbowl contender.
Posted by: THUNDERBOLT | May 06, 2010 at 11:40 AM
I don't think we need T.O. but if we sign him I wouldn't be complaining
Posted by: Leo | May 06, 2010 at 11:41 AM
Slick I think you are wrong about Hartline that dude is bad think of what he can do with more opportunities.I agree about Cam great hands but slow. Bess is awesome slot receiver I think Marshall as cheesy as it sounds will change everything in miami.T.O. is a tool.
Posted by: Jamez | May 06, 2010 at 11:44 AM
I agree that it is probably nothing, but this is the third comment that I have heard of him signing with Miami in the past week. If you look at the corners that the Jets have, perhaps having him on board is a very strong counter punch.
Posted by: pramis | May 06, 2010 at 11:46 AM
It is pretty bad When even Buffalo doesnt want u back.
Posted by: THUNDERBOLT | May 06, 2010 at 11:46 AM
Nobody wants Adalius Thomas. Someone is probably going to get him for cheep.
Posted by: pistol | May 06, 2010 at 11:48 AM
Marshall TO Bess and Hartline....that would be sick. I know Parcells isnt having it, either is Ireland or Sparano. They dealt with him in Dallas because Jerry "loser" Jones had to have him. I think he would be a good addition...but not gonna happen!
Posted by: jaysal | May 06, 2010 at 11:49 AM
Any more acorns out there???
Posted by: aquaandorange | May 06, 2010 at 11:52 AM
lol t.o. had a terrible season bc buffalo didnt really pass to him... evans was the number one option!!! and their qb situation was terrible!!!!!!
Posted by: wil-da-thrill | May 06, 2010 at 11:54 AM
AGREED WOULD BE NICE BUT.... THEN AGAIN WE ALL THOUGHT MARSHELL WOULD NOT BE A DOLPHIN EITHER?????? SO MAYBE JUST MAYBE....ALSO ANTOGWE WOULD WILL BE A HUGE HELP IN OUT 2NDARY. CANT WAIT TILL SEPT.
Posted by: TRICKY | May 06, 2010 at 11:55 AM
TO has BO, Best sign at a game ever.
Posted by: Darryl Dunphy | May 06, 2010 at 11:55 AM
jamez i love hartline im also an ohio state fan so i know what hartline can do..but i agree if hartline had a couple more touches he'd be that would be great..but you guys can't tell me you'd rather have the ball in cam or hartline's hands rather than t.o
Posted by: slick | May 06, 2010 at 11:56 AM
pistol sorry it was a typo you know writin without readin lol..but i didn't mean to say he was much more mature than all of them..i meant that he was much more mature than what he used to be himself
Posted by: slick | May 06, 2010 at 12:00 PM
Holy shyt, a football player tweeted he is Miami bound!!! How many Fn players live down here??A LOT!!! No news here, move on
Posted by: bobbyd12 | May 06, 2010 at 12:03 PM
TO is ripe for the Dolphins. He is like a stalion that has finally been gelded. He still has the horse, but maybe he has mellowed. Wisdom is not directly proportional to age--for some it takes longer. Still, you can have all the top receivers in the game, but you still need a quarterback who can get them the ball. I know everyone wants so badly to believe that Chad Henne is the guy, but honestly, I am not yet convinced. He has a long way to go before you can consider him to have elite potential. And a QB must be smart and he has to be a leader...that is NOT what Henne demonstrated when he slammed Tebow before the draft.
Posted by: Kevin11c | May 06, 2010 at 12:03 PM
I just don't see the point of adding TO. Marshall and TO are pretty much the same type of WR. WR are there to compliment each other so it would make sense if Miami was to pick up another WR it would be a WR who is more of a deep threat more so a guy who gets his yards after the catch.
Posted by: Ripp | May 06, 2010 at 12:16 PM
Yeah slick, actually I would rather have the ball in Hartline's hands than in TO's. TO was great back in the day, but he old as dirt and hasn't done anything in 5 years.
Gotta stop letting these guys skate by on their reputations. TO isn't anything but an average #2 these days - Hartline is a very good #2.
Posted by: Brass Monkey | May 06, 2010 at 12:16 PM
T.O. Was buffalos best receiver last yr folks
Posted by: Kevin | May 06, 2010 at 12:18 PM
At some point TO has to realize he can't keep being divisive. I wouldn't be opposed to giving this guy ONE more chance. I say bring the guy in. TO still has one of the strongest work ethics in the NFL. His mouth just needs to take a rest.
Posted by: Los Lobos | May 06, 2010 at 12:18 PM
I just saw the pats have two first-rounders and two second-rounders for next years draft? What the hell?
Posted by: pistol | May 06, 2010 at 12:20 PM
Armando Salguero: King of the non-story.
Is this also a major PR flub that tarnishes the good reputation of the Dolphins organization and is surely Jeff Ireland's fault?
Posted by: carlito from golfito | May 06, 2010 at 12:30 PM
Kevin11c,
How did Chad Henne display poor leadership by saying Tebow is not yet and NFL quaterback??????? Sheeesh... do you know what leadership means?
Posted by: carlito from golfito | May 06, 2010 at 12:34 PM
An anonymous source from within the organization that is my brain reports Jeff Ireland asked Terrel Owens if Ted Ginn's mom is a prostitute.
Posted by: phinPickSack | May 06, 2010 at 12:35 PM
T.O. dropped alot of passes last year, but it doesn't matter because he will not be a Dolphin... Maybe the Jets can add another senior citizen
Posted by: carlito from golfito | May 06, 2010 at 12:35 PM
I was one of a few on this blog that didn't think Brandon Marshall would ever be a Phin, so I won't say never to TO. This makes no sense to me, and I think this is a non issue. Parcells is smart enough to know that it only takes one guy to kill the chemistry of the locker room, is TO worth the gamble? I say no. What does he bring to this team that would be worth risking another temper tantrum, or the unwanted media circus that signing him would certainly bring.

It's going to be a long summer....
Posted by: pistol | May 06, 2010 at 12:43 PM
Carlito, you having a bad day, buddy? I am not the King of anything. I'm just a regular guy doing my job.
If you think this is a non-story, you are free to have that opinion and be wrong. I am providing a tangible answer to people who emailed me and tweeted and wanted to know what was going on. I provided that answer.
So you may think it's a non-story. But you don't get to make that decision.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | May 06, 2010 at 12:44 PM
Armando,
Ok, as long as it is still Jeff Ireland's fault.
:P
Posted by: carlito from golfito | May 06, 2010 at 12:47 PM
P.S. Terrell Owens tweeting that he is going to the city of Miami is a non-story

Armando just took the ruler out and is cracking knuckles.

By the way, Bengals.com is reporting Gibril Wilson is close to signing with Cincinnati.
Posted by: Armando Salguero | May 06, 2010 at 12:56 PM
i think it's something to tlk about even if it doesn't happen..im gonna keep my hopes up..idk if any of you noticed but camirillo is what i consider a 3rd down receiver..hartline will be good an is very good rite now..but t.o can bring so much to this offense including teaching them..it would be a sick year for bess..and in a 4wr set sheeshh..i'd put hartline there an occasionally grice mullen..this could open up so much henne would have a great season
Posted by: slick | May 06, 2010 at 12:57 PM

TO was a model citizen in Buffalo. I wish there was something behind the Tweet. He and Marshall would be a great double-threat. For those of you, who think he's got nothing left, you're wrong. He's in better shape than most 25 year olds
