Let's start with the news: Agent Ralph Cindrick said on his twitter account that the Dolphins have just agreed to terms with DT Montavious Stanley.
Stanley was a 4-3 defensive tackle last season with the Jaguars. He is likely going to be asked to play the nose or hybrid nose tackle spot for the Dolphins. Jason Ferguson retired suddenly a couple of weeks back and Miami is obviously looking for depth.
Stanley has played for five teams in six years, including the 2006 Dallas Cowboys when Jeff Ireland was in the personnel department there.
Late last week I followed wide receiver Brian Hartline and guard Nate Garner to a community relations reading event then spoke with both about the importance of their upcoming training camp.
I break down Hartline and Garner's chances of starting here.
It is important to note that Garner is 100 percent healthy following a foot injury that derailed his offseason. He spent the entire offseason rehabilitating the injury.
Hartline spent the offseason trying to get bigger, stronger, faster. He also had an issue with a auto accident in which his truck was found abandoned by the side of the road along Interstate 595 here in So. Fla.
Hartline declined to comment on the accident under advice of counsel.
I don't really think this issue will cause Hartline major problems. All reports are no one was injured in the accident, including Hartline. Hartline has a lawyer. The Dolphins aren't likely to discipline him severely unless he is found guilty of something serious. I don't think abandoning a vehicle -- if it can be even proven he did so -- will rise to the level of getting severely disciplined.
Remember, this isn't the first time the vehicle of a Dolphins player was found abandoned at the scene of an accident. Channing Crowder's vehicle was found abandoned at the scene of an accident in January of 2008.
Neither the NFL nor the Dolphins imposed any game-related discipline in that instance. Crowder was reportedly cited for careless driving.
This doesn't and shouldn't diminish the seriousness of leaving an accident -- if indeed that is what Hartline did. But in the universe of off-field issues the NFL weighs, it is more a moon than a supernova.

Nah.... this place has an Impeccable reputation. They're adjacent to a wholesale market that supplies many of the upscale restaurants.
They sell sushi-grade fish as well.
(Tuna... ect.)
Maybe the price is good because they're only 15 miles from the Ocean...I don't know.
Anyway,
I've been buying from them for a couple of years. Their stuff has always been fresh and wonderful.

Thats cool. I admire the people who catch their own bait fish...and then cruise out to sea to get their dinner.
(its actually a pretty healthy way to live.)
I try (as best I can) to know the source of what I'm eating.
I'm probably a little different than most Americans. I only eat Red Meat once or twice a week!

It will be very difficult for Hartline to get to 1000 yards. 13 YPC is very good in the NFL, and 70 catches would not get him to 1000. I just can't see 70 catches for him. A realistic goal for him should be between 6-8 touchdowns. I am in the minority, but I believe Bess will be the team leader in catches, most likely between 90-100 balls. Marshall will be very close to that, probably around 80-85 catches.
Also hurting Hartline is the presence of Camarillo, plus I think Fasano will surprise some people given the attention Marshall demands. Plus, Henne has shown a propensity to check down, which means a good amount of catches for our backs as well.
And finally, even with the addition of Marshall, this is still a team that wants to beat the opponent to death with the run game. 320 completions for Henne would be a high number, IMO, and that should be pretty evenly distributed.

If Ronnie Brown completely recovers...then it is going to be VERY interesting.
For the first time in many years, they're going to have an Offense that can get First Downs and Score from anyware on the field.
It going to be a Blast!

I believe it is indeed Ronnie Brown that will be the difference between us being a legit Super Bowl contender, or a 9 or 10 win team. Simply put, the guy is a 4.4 YPC guy for his career, playing with all kinds of QBs, never a WR to keep the 8th man out of the box, and no stability on the offensive line.
Brandon Marshall doesn't get near the credit he deserves for his blocking. Also, Marshall plays the position like a RB, he is looking to run through you. We have 3 sledgehammers, all at least 230 pounds, who, to borrow Marshall's words, want to "impose their will" Our running game at it's best means Marshall won't be focused on. A formidable receiving makes us very difficult to defend. Ronnie makes Ricky better as well.
We executed so well without the type of firepower we now have, a healthy Brown makes us damn near unstoppable.
Posted by: Bootang26 | July 26, 2010 at 12:57 AM
Of all the receivers we could have acquired, the one who plays with the mindset closest to what we are trying to build was Brandon Marshall. An argument could be made for probably 6 or 7 guys as to who is the best WR in football. Debates can be made who is the best going over the middle, on jump balls, route running. As for the most physically imposing WR in the league, it is undoubtedly Marshall. This is not an apple to our team's orange. As I said earlier, he plays the position with the mindset of a RB. I think opposing defenses are going to be very sick of the trio that is Brown, Williams, and Marshall. The willingness to tackle these guys will diminish greatly as the game goes on.
