Brandon Marshall takes out frustration on football

The frustration level may be building just a little bit for some folks on the Dolphins offense -- most notably wide receiver Brandon Marshall.

After dropping what should have been a sure TD in the back of the end zone from 5 yards out during the best-on-best team period this afternoon, Marshall picked up the ball he dropped and punted it ...

... Right over the fence of the Davie, Florida practice facility.

It helped his effort that the fields were configured to run east and west today and the street he punted the ball onto runs north and south just behind the end zone. The ball traveled about 25 yards.

The Dolphins first-team offense, meanwhile, didn't move nearly that far.

To wit during the team period versus the Miami first-team defense:

First play: Chad Henne incompletion.

Second play: Ronnie Brown rushes for minus-1.

Third play: Henne overthrows Browns circling out of the backfield.

Fourth play: Ricky Williams for a five-yard rush.

Fifth play: Williams plus-4 yards on a direct snap.

Sixth play: Wildcat and Williams gains 2 off a handoff from Brown.

Seventh play: Marshall drops the Henne pass.

Unscripted: Marshall Punt.

Eighth play: Ronnie Brown no gain.

End of period.

Sheesh.

The first team offensive line continues to take shape -- I hope. The first team today was RT Vernon Carey, RG John Jerry, C Joe Berger, LG Richie Incognito and LT Jake Long.

Marshall needs to get rid of the #19 jersey that thing is jinxed!!!!!!! burn that number and retire it for the next 50 years lolololololol

NYScott,

I was with you right up to the leadership bit. I agree more with Mark in that respect.

I think on offense our leadership roles will be fine. Hopefully Henne learned another good lesson from Pennington just the other day.

I think there may be room for a little concern on the defense but only because we jettisoned guys like Taylor, Porter, Ferguson and Wilson. The only reason I mention Wilson is because he made the calls in the secondary.

The void will be filled, I just think the young guys and the rookies are a little tentative. They don't want to be annointed as opposed to earning the respect and leadership roles.

All in good time.

PEOPLE NEED TO STOP TALKING ABOUT HIS JERSEY BEING CURSED. IT'S A FREAKIN NUMBER, IT'S NOT GONNA HELP HIM CATCH BETTER, IT'S NOT GONNA HELP HIM RUN FASTER. PLAYERS HAVE BAD GAMES, GET OVER IT, HE WILL FIX IT HE'S A PRO AND KNOWS WHAT TO DO, MARSHALL DOESNT NEED A BUNCH OF FANS TELLING HIM HOW TO PLAY. WHEN THE REGULAR SEASON STARTS IM SURE HE WILL BE READY. THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF PRE-SEASON IS TO WORK THE BUGS OUT.

let's face it , is marshall a ted ginn in the making ? he did reach his beak last year and this year could be the sewer year for him .

Marshall will be fine but his temper or competitive fire which is what I think it is needs to be put into the proper perspective! He needs to stop being so rebellious when he makes a mistake, he needs to curb his sensation to show out when he wants and be MATURE about everything good or bad!! If marshall can do that he will do just fine for years to come! We all have bad days marshall!!!

Change That Number Kid!!!

Will anyone else be extremely worried if the first team offense lays an egg against the Jaguars? I mean Josh Freeman was 4-4 and a TD. The first plays of the game should go smoothly.

does randy moss make every catch he's thrown to in practice, does any real legit recievers ever have learning curves coming from a new system to a new team...Duh???...ease up, thats why its august, and the 2nd week of preseason, these guys are still getting used to playbooks, new faces, new shemes, and most of all to work out the kinks now and have them happen now instead of early september when the REAL games begin..Just chill out everyone and especially you armando, c'mon now!!

randy moss caught 98 percent in the preseason opener vs saints .

the basketball boy did not .

DUDE! Man.........I can get you a good deal on some Xanax?

PS: Don't forget to sign my "change of number" petition!

to be or not to be ....

the jets blog reporting jt is having an issue w/old injury ,that's all they said .

Aloco,
yea and we know randy moss has never had issues in New England for giving up on certian plays or drops in a season...The point is i would rather have marshall drop every single pass in the preseason and be frustrated and work harder and have him hungry for the opener knowing he has a chip on his shoulder with something to prove to himself and his team.

I Hope the weather is Fair In jacksonvile During Gametime...

pennington will be the starter again before it's all over. henne doesn't have what it takes to be a legit nfl qb.

superPHIN , work hard my asssssssssssss,we hear this every year.but at 50 million .

mama maria loves to cook for that much

keeping henning seems to be a mistake. This offense is not looking too good. What is going on with sparano not being able to get the offense on track.

Mr. Mike,

Whoa, whoa, WHOA!

I'm not going to try and defend Marshall for punting a football or being a diva, but comparing him to T.O.? C'mon Man!

We've decided to give Marshall a 50 million dollar benefit of the doubt.

Until he attacks his teammates, coaches or the organization, comparisons to TO seem a little unfair.

dolphin 77, you r 100 percent right after all these years they can't even have a decent QB .THIS IS THE TROUBLE SPOT ON THE TEAM .

Just change the number 19 Marshall!!

aloco,
last time i looked stats dont mean sh@t in the preseason, Their not paying him 50 million to catch TDS in the preseason...he needs to stay healthy and get on the same page as henne and work, work, and work some more at getting involved with this offense, thats why he's here!!!

How much would you give for the benefit of the doubt ????????

seems the defense did better under nolan ,why they didn't fire grand pa hennington ?

superPHIN.....MARSHALL NEEDS TO DO ;

1- SAY I AM SORRY FOR THE BASKETBALL TALK
2-SHOW US WHY WE PAY HIM 50 MILLION
3-KEEP THE MOUTH SHUT UNTIL WE R IN THE PLAYOFFS
4-MEAN WHILE GIVE SOME OF THAT MONEY EVERY TIME HE DROPS A BALL.

sorry for the caps,my pad

I'm embarrased to be reading this today. Come on MEN. Bradon Marshal Is among the TOP 3 wide recievers in the game. He drops 2 wet balls in a PRESEASON game and you gus jump off the wagon. He shows frustration with his less than perfect play and your ready to write him off as T.O.

and all this before the first regular season game.

WTF?

kris ,i didn't know he dropped 2 balls....thank you .

how much marshall gets paid by the game ??

T.O didn't speak of going to play basketball .

Amen I agree change the number..lol #19 Ted ginn has jinks the hell out of that number. Brandon please change the #######

YEA RIGHT aloco, if only every reciever could have stipulations like that in their contract, it would'nt be nearly expensive to watch the NFL GAMES TODAY,,, KEEP dreaming son, it'll never happen, as far as his nba talk goes, he needs to let that go for sure, but i'm not worried why we payed this guy 50 million---WE all know what he has done in the past and what he is capable of doing for us in the future and untill i see him struggle in the regular season, thats what i expect to see this year!!!

Ginn Family Curse. Be Strong Brandon.

Aloco,

Really...

yes kris really, more overi am done after this post;;;;;;;what's in common between these two players;;;;;;; marshall and.......pat white ?

one wants to play baseball
the other wants to play basketball ......i wonder where their minds at this point .....they got a signed contracts .

Marshall Doesnt Have To Prove Anything To Anybody Till The Season Gets Going. Some People Need A Reality Check Here

so why we do have a pre season games smart one odinseye ?

Well, the Giants and the Jets go at it here shortly.
That means only one thing - Go Giants.

go jets

i meant bobbyd12 not odinseye

thanks jet in time

Jets are dumb.
They play in a place called GIANTS STADIUM.

JET IN TIME,

thanks for exposing yourself as fake ALOCO

Thank you!!!!....aloco, preseason games are for rookies and long shots to impress, not for starters to look spectacular, granted you would like to see chemistry in henne and marshall to develope but otherwise to remain injury free and see some action on the field!!!

Chad Henne plays three games and is done; in come Pennington. We are going to get slaughtered by the Jets in the first game!! I can see it coming!

Michael Gibson = Mel Gibson.

Then by all means,,go jump on their bandwagon(or rexs back) and stop cluttering up the blog with your negativity...fans like you are not needed here!!!

superPHIN,

what are you saying is preseason for rookies not for starters.i think that's a valid point but mean while the starters can start cooking meatballs for the rookies .in my house mama maria is the rookie and i am the starter.

i can't wait to see JT in his ugly green . we r going to see very annoying cheering from him to the jets .

i'd prefers marshall change his gloves, not his jersey!!!

Good point :)
.
.

A loco,

Boy am I slow!

Preseason doesn't count in the standings, no one gets into the Hall of Fame for being an outstanding player in preseason. Tony Sprano said it today, everything went as planned. They ran the plays they wanted and looked at the players they needed to look at. Marshall can drop every single ball during preseason and I can care less. When we kick off against Buffalo, then it matters. Guy is not getting paid to catch preseason balls, he is being paid to help us win regular and post season games. That is the goal.

Armando,
My hats off to you. You have proven to be the ultimate puppet master. I respect that. You know your audience and how to play to their strenghths or weakness depending on what vantage point you have.

A few weeks to a month ago you painted Marshal as the mature man who needed a change and today he is the diva we all feared he was gonna be.

Nice job Armando

And so as the game begins............
Jets Suck!
Go Giants!!

I`d rather (1/2full) blame it on jitters and nerves of actually playing an opposition, this could be a very good sign.

sanchez

td result from sanchez interception

Sanchez, Bwahahahahahahhahhahahhahhahah

Only fitting sanchez' first throw in Giants stadium is a pick.

Although kicking a football is not the best way to have handled the situation, am glad he was that frustrated. I was getting rather tired of hearing Ginn talk about working hard and improving - all the while looking completely content at sucking at his job. I mean, he can hardly catch, is afraid to get hit and falls down when he hears footsteps.. I don't care how many times you say you will work hard - that never changed.

B Marshall could have been more mature in his approach - but damn am happy he is pissed. Am glad he doesn't think it is just preseason and just practice...

Ginn probably avoids contact when he's playing Madden.
