Pat White's days with Dolphins seem numbered

Everyone is reporting today that Chad Henne will play about a half in Saturday's preseason game at Jacksonville. That is, after all, what coach Tony Sparano said.

"I think probably Henne's going to go, I'd like to take Henne into the half," Sparano said Thursday. "I got a play count particularly in my head right now, that would take him through the first half, but if you hit that play count a little bit earlier I might take him out. If we move the ball and had some success and he hit that play count and I felt good about it, I think I might do that. Unless there was a two minute situation before the half hanging there that I feel like he might need or something like that. Right now I'm thinking that he's going to go the first half of the game and then we'll see how it trickles down. I'd imagine at this point Tyler [Thigpen] would get in there and we'd see where we are."

Well, I'm more concerned with the "we'd see where we are" part.

Pat White, last year's second-round draft pick, is the see where we are guy. He is apparently an after-thought now, if one believes Sparano -- and I do. He was something of an afterthought last week when he came into the game the final series to do little other than take a knee.

Folks, his days on the Dolphins are numbered. I don't know if he makes it past the first round of cuts in a couple of weeks. It definitely doesn't look like he makes it out of the final cuts.

Simply, he's not a very good quarterback. Simply, there are no plans in the works to try him at another position. Simply, his goose seems nearly done if not out-right cooked.

Earlier this week Sparano said White showed marked improvement throwing the football a week ago. That grand improvement didn't get White any meaningful snaps in last Saturday's game. And it didn't vault him above fourth-string this week.

Sure, he's taking more snaps than Chad Pennington right now. But Chad Pennington is an established NFL quarterback who doesn't need to fry his surgically repaired arm in practices. The Dolphins know what Pennington can do.

Unfortunately for White, the Dolphins know what he can do also. And what he cannot do.

He's simply not good enough.

Is he better than he was as a rookie in 2009? Yes. Is he good? No, not really.

Sparano hasn't said any of this, mind you. He doesn't have to. Sometimes you don't have to hear it from the coach to know it is true. Pat White is the fourth-best quarterback in camp.

And unless the Dolphins keep four quarterbacks or trade one of those ahead of him, White's days in Miami are now numbered.

cant remember but he should be! he retired before Emmitt

the most underrated player all-time is FRED TAYLOR

FRED TAYLOR one of few GATORS to show-out in the NFL

did fred taylor won any thing ?

This is from Wikipedia...................Several years after retirement, and repeated refusals to discuss the abruptness of it, Sanders finally admitted that the culture of losing in the Lions' organization was too much to deal with even though he said that he could still play. He explained that it robbed him of his competitive spirit, and he saw no reason to believe things were going to improve. He also stated that there were tears in his eyes as the Lions lost the final game of his career the season before he left, because he knew in his heart he was never going to play another NFL game - "I sobbed for 3 months.....................

nope

look at menace doing research

Probably what Ricky Williams Felt like when he first hung up his cleats after Dave(No Nut Sack)Wannstadt rode him like a goverment mule his last year......Thanks Dave..

Aloco,

Hoyer sucks! LOL

Thanks D4L, New computer.....

Barry was Detroit's only offensive weapon.

Emmit had Troy, Michael, Moose, Novacek, Alvin, and
a dominant O-Line. Not to mention a sick defense.

as a matter of fact you can name a whole bunch of players from those buffalo teams that were great who never won a title=kelly, thomas, bennett, talley, smith, and of course my first cuz nate odomes and maybe 2-3 more i cant think of right now

Thanks Cuban you make a good point.

Not only was Barry Sanders a loser and a quitter, he was a crtbaby as well.

I don't care what the EXCUSE is, especially with a guy that freaking talented.

A quitter never wins.....so........by definition Barry Sanders was a loser!!!!

oh yeah reed and lofton at wr and still maybe 2-3 i cant think of

Pat White Is/was A Big Mistake. We Have Cut Pretty Much All Our Misrakes, Ginn, Gibril Etc...we Have Far To Many Solid Players On The Bubble To Carry 4 QBs. Second RD Bust...Pat White Is Done, Stick A Fork In Him

R@R is correct, and a great line for most of his career and a healthy body, I only remember once or twice that the guy was injured, actually one monday nite game where he wasnt supposed to play (Cause of a ankle injury) the guy gained like 197 yards, it was a monday nite game, He was good but I'd give the better back to barry, he played on some horrible teams and still gained 2000 yards in 1996......

We'll agree to disagree Odin....LOL

Alright, alright! I'll confess!

Barry Sanders was Da Sheet!!!!

I was raised in Detroit.......and.......well........maybe I'm just a tad bit bitter.

I've always hated the Lions, but I was a big Sanders fan. I admit it, it was me, I was the one sobbing for months when he retired.

PS: I hate you Barry Sanders!

Tom brady is some thing else ,he sure is a winner not like the donkeys we have around here .

Hoyer is a loser

lol@odinseye

did you ever hear a star his name thigpen or henne ? doesn't look promising ,

WHITE isn't going to be cut or traded.

Thigpen will be traded.

Take that to the bank!

carlito....hoyer is your daddy .

Henne will be a star this year

Aloco,

I'm being serious... I never watched Hoyer before, you told me he was the man... I'm watching and he sucks

i hope so carlito .

in boston they treat hoyer as the brady like and he's very aware of injures .

Aloco,

A star named Thigpen? Sure. He was on that show Peanuts with Charlie Brown and Lucy.

PS: Lucy was pretty HOT for being a Be-atch!

Odin, I KNEW IT....... Oh BTW Barry Sanders elected to the HOF in 2004.....

what is the best drink between 9;30-12;oo am ?

Water, always water... hydrate

Thigpen is restricted free agent next year. He is likely to get a ton of money and be too expensive for us to keep as a backup. If Pennington has any life left then we keep him and White and get value for Thigpen, could go as high as a #3 for a team like the Bears or Colts with gaping hole at #2. We might keep Thigpen and then Henne stays healthy all year and we nothing for all the time spent developing him.

It took Thigpen (who was a similar style college QB) four years to develop into NFL quality. Don't look at his KC stats as true NFL since they adopted a spread option offense to suit his college level skills. White would post similar numbers if we simply ran a spread all the time - but we wouldn't win games that way like KC didn't win games.

What has Thigpen done to get a ton of money??? LOL

Hello all been a while actually had to go out and help Aloco pay mr. Bottoms welfare check! your welcome mr. Bottom now where is that stash you have been promising me for all my hard work!

Grreat,

Soiled is a tough customer when requesting access to his fields of Sativa.

i am afraid soiled in the hospital recovering from hernia .

Fins Are Not Going Into The Season With Henne, A QB Coming Off Shoulder Surgwry And A Guy Who Will NEVER Be A NFL QB (White) Thigpen Will Not Be Traded. Mando Is 100% right. Bye Bye Pat

Dane, Where you been???, Gotta go talk at you all Friday sometime, Have a "PHINTASTIC" Nite... PEACE..

How is everything in Phinland! I cannot see White with the team this year... From what I have heard that they are looking to trade him to the marlins in return the marlins will loose so they are not going to make it into the playoffs the next two years (or more) so the phins can get their field back! NO MORE MUD! (Oh yea and a six pack of corona for Saprano after practice!

How many ILB's did we keep last year?

How many will we keep this year?

Who will they be?

Who will be the starters?

carlito, TD FOR HOYER

Carlito, Hoyer Blows Donkey Di@K

That was Sammy Morris running for a TD

BOBBY FILTHY MOUTH WONT GET YOU ANYTING
DONT SPEAK LIKE GARBAGE MOUTH FOOL

Odin,

Dolphins kept 3 ILB on the roster last year (Crowder, Ayodele, Torbor)... I'm guessing that they will keep 3 again this year (Dansby, Crowder, Dobbins)... This unit has been significantly upgraded... Micah Johnson, Spitler, and Folsom will probably compete for PS spots

Who traded Sammy?
Waanstedt?
Sammy's got game.

OK. carlito.....you still awake /

pats ......21

atalanta,,,,,3

Back to work my summer vac. is over... Oh well the first few weeks back for me is hectic and just read the last like 10 blogs all at once... I know it sucks! I was twitching... Had to come on for my phin fix. But will be back as much as possible. My craziness doesn't stop for at least 2 weeks before things settle then I'll be back to a more consistent schedule!

carlito is as important to this blog as menace and odin .looks better w/them all here .

Thanks Carlito

Who do you like so far out of Spitler, Folsom and Johnson?

Johnson obviously stood out the most last week.

R&R
I will gain access to those fields thou! Muahhh hahahahaha LOL...
But back to the phins. I can't even see a CFL team picking up white... He might get lucky and end up in arena football... But the sad thing is even they probably won't want him as a QB!

What about the plumber?

Odin,

You know I like Micah Johnson... I wanted him on the Dolphins before the draft... He was doing his combine training at the gym I go to...

It sucks Aj Edds got hurt... Dolphins would have definitely kept 4 ILB... I think he would have contributed on 3rd downs

the orphan plumber .

Odin,

I agree that Johnson stood out the most last week... But for some reason I feel that Spitler might end up being the better player.. Call me crazy but that is just a hunch I have.... (If they are both given a shot by some team that is)!

Not to sure that they make the 53 possibly if their special teams deems it worthy of a spot..... But if not I feel they are practice squad material but I doubt they would keep both of them on the practice squad!

Just Cut Him Already And Lets Get On With Our Life!!! He Was A Bust And Thats What Should Stay As. Lets Not Keep Wasting Our Time With Him. He Was A Mistake And Always Said It.. But Hey Prolimging The Innevitable Is A Bigger Mistake. Cut Him!!

Agree with Carlito they will keep 3 Dansby, Chowder, N Dobbins!

I can't wait for the regular season to start...

Pat White, a great idea whose time has never and will never come.
