The Dolphins have canceled their scheduled practice and red zone scrimmage before fans at Sun Life Stadium this evening. Inclement weather has forced the team to move the practice back to their training facility.
That practice, which the team will conduct in the Nick Saban Memorial Bubble (NSMB), will not be open to the public. The NSMB cannot accommodate the public.
No word on whether the team will re-schedule a practice at Sun Life between now and the preseason-opener Saturday versus Tampa Bay.
On the field, the Dolphins are closely monitoring an injury to center Jake Grove that I am told will likely keep him out of the preseason opener against the Bucs. The Herald's Jeff Darlington is reporting Grove is nursing a bone bruise on his knee.
The potential starting center missed the scrimmage on Saturday and missed practice Monday morning. It is important to note that Grove was no assured of being the starter even when healthy as he is locked in a battle with Joe Berger and Andrew Hartline.
Barring a dramatic improvement by Grove, Berger would likely get the start with the first-team Saturday versus Tampa Bay. Hartline, who has taken first team snaps, would also see considerable action, although coach Tony Sparano hasn't made his plans public yet.

Damn, Home was right again, How does he do it???????????
Posted by: Cuban Menace | August 09, 2010 at 03:09 PM
Damn, Its look like "Can I have some Fries, with that Berger" for Center.
Home, who will be returning kicks for the fins?
Posted by: Waterboy | August 09, 2010 at 03:30 PM
I predict Cobbs and Nolan Carroll on kickoffs...
Bess on punts.
Posted by: Mike Jones | August 09, 2010 at 03:42 PM
Man this is bull another night ractice canceled by the fins we live in florida and a little rain should not stop the practice for the fans I hope they make it up.
Posted by: frank | August 09, 2010 at 03:46 PM
This injuries (minor or not) are not helping Grove. Berger will be gaining tremendous ground with a start against the Bucs.
So Armando, they'll still have a scrimmage but inside the bubble?
Posted by: Gian | August 09, 2010 at 03:46 PM
What Was Home Right About?Did He Predict The Weather?Hell,I Could Have Done That From Here In Minnesota!!
Posted by: beerndrums | August 09, 2010 at 03:52 PM
If healthy, Grove is our best centre by far. Problem is that this administration has no patience for those players who may or may not play. (see: Justin Smiley)
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | August 09, 2010 at 03:56 PM
I hope he doesn't miss too much time. We've had enough injuries.
Posted by: pistol | August 09, 2010 at 04:04 PM
@ Frank,
youd be singing a different tune if lightning struck on the field.
dont give me the bull, when you see lightning then get off the field.
What if the first strike hits the players?
Posted by: Waterboy | August 09, 2010 at 04:05 PM
Agreed...Grove is our best center and he will gel nicely with nasty Incognito at guard.
I predict our O-Line will be well regarded with at least two (2) members going to the pro-bowl.
Posted by: NHFINSFAN | August 09, 2010 at 04:06 PM
Beer, He predicted tonight's practice would be cancelled..... I think....But then again, your right, So. Fla August, I'd bet ever day has a 80% chance of a monsoon during the day

Hahaha, DON MARINO!!!
Posted by: Mark in Toronto | August 09, 2010 at 05:26 PM
here is a prediction home won't like at all, but make it down next to my other one about pat white making the squad and being the #2 on game day like last year.
prediction 2, if the fins keep 5 receivers and not 6. which is most likely. the 5th guy will be roberto wallace and not patrick turner. 2 reason's... wallace is better on the special teams unit and wallace will do what turner didn't do last year and won't do again this year. impress the coaches in actual preseason games. some of you may have forgotten but turner did early head turning in camp last year too, then mud.
i waited too long so this is now a no brainer but nolan carrol will be the nickel, and we have 4 starting caliber CB's now. smith, davis, carrol, and w.allen.
